With Uncle Ron releasing a second and even further improved version of the English league system down to tier 8, I have decided to restart using this as I had only completed one season in my first save.

Here's my setup. I've been very ambitious with this and loaded up far more than I ever have before. This is after Amaroq's description of how having playable/view only/inactive leagues work. Hopefully it won't run too slowly!

Large database with Uncle Ron's England to level 8 file.

Newcastle Town Football Club

My hometown team. Newcastle-under-Lyme is a town with approximately 75,000 inhabitants. Despite being a fairly sizeable town, they have never had a football team of any real significance. Neighbouring Stoke-on-Trent is home to two Football League clubs, Stoke City and Port Vale. These teams, especially Stoke, pull many football supporters who live in Newcastle-under-Lyme away from the town's team.

Formed as a Sunday League team in 1964, more recently the team has spent many years in the North West Counties League Premier Division, finishing runners up three times in the 1990s and being edged out in 2001/2 by Kidsgrove Athletic and Prescot Cables. The home match near the end of the season against local rivals Kidsgrove attracted a crowd of nearly 1100, then a league record until FC United of Manchester entered the league. Town lost 1-0 and finished 3rd.

Things are improving though. After many years of trying, Newcastle Town finally won the North West Counties League Premier Division in 2009/10, and in some style. After winning their first 28 games they finished the season on 114 points and scoring 121 goals in a 42 game season. This puts them in the Northern Premier League First Division South, the highest Newcastle have ever been.

Can I take Newcastle Town even further and emerge from the shadows of their more illustrious neighbours?

Lyme Valley Parkway Stadium, Newcastle-under-Lyme holds 4000 with 300 seats and is in poor condition with a grass surface. The club has basic corporate, basic training and minimal youth facilities and limited youth recruitment. The team's rivals are Alsager Town, Congleton Town and Kidsgrove Atheltic.

I am given a contract for 2 years and on £200 per week.

This is the job I've always wanted...

2010/1 - Newcastle Town (Northern Premier League First Division South)

It's the start of a long journey...

I sign a £200 per week contract for 2 years.

Lyme Valley Parkway Stadium, Newcastle-under-Lyme holds 4000 (300 seated) with basic corporate, basic training and minimal youth facilities with limited youth recruitment.

There is a 4 year kit sponsorship deal worth £2000 per season which ends in 2013.

Fierce rivals: None

Rivals: Congleton Town, Alsager Town, Kidsgrove Athletic

Board: Safe mid table

Media: 13th

Bookies: Unknown

Season tickets: 90

Things don't start well at all as we lose our opening three matches. We then host Chester in the FA Cup and wins, which spurs us on to win our first league game and start a good run.

We settle down to mid table where we hover around for a while as injuries and suspensions hit the squad.

The holiday period passed and we stayed in the middle with little prospect of us moving very far in either direction.

However, we really picked up. We kept the pressure up and as likely title contenders Barwell went into free fall, we pushed them to take their place in the playoffs.

However, defeat in the final match at home to Leek sees us miss out on the playoffs as Barwell cling on with our local rivals Kidsgrove just missing out too.

Thanks Raware. Hopefully it will be even better this coming season.

Bit of close season news... champions Liverpool were taken over by an English consortium who promptly sacked Roy Hodgson and replaced him with Roberto Mancini.

Mancini just got sacked from Arsenal in my game; they were sitting 9th.

Good start to the save Nobby. I like those little Youtube clips as well. You must have a decent graphics card in your computer. Mine is crap, I tried the demo of FM11 and it really slowed down the matches at high quality graphics. I suppose I should have expected that with a 2 year old laptop!

Good luck with the next season.

This save is temporarily on hold due to the Polish league issue with patch 11.2

I booted up the game tonight and Steam automatically downloaded the new patch. It had completed before I came on the forum and saw that the issue was present. Indeed, my game isn't loading right now.

Hopefully SI can sort it out very quickly.

What is the Polish league issue Simon?
