If you send multiple scouts to a major tournament, it's a bit stupid if they all attend the same game when there's more than one on at once. It should be pretty quick to fix it so that they arrange between themselves to watch different games.

One thing that consistently drives me nuts is the inability to raise backroom staff wages beyond a seemingly arbitrary ceiling. Losing one of my top coaches to a rival club because he wants 6000 quid a week and I can't offer him anything above 4000 (meanwhile I have 1.2 million p/w wage budget available) makes me want to kill myself. Fix this!

I cant help thinking that this should be incorparated in game.

*You could make it a condition of your bid that the amount is disclosed/undisclosed

* Disclosing a transfer free would add pressure to an expensive player but appease the fans looking for big signings (Berbatov) (could also boost club rep/ attract players)

* Disclosing a large fee in a sale would justify to your fans why you have sold a big player (Keane). Disclosing a fee lower than what you payed will show you to be businessly naive or show you accepting the player was a failure (Shevchenko)

* Disclosing a small fee for a youngster will look great for you if they turn out to be great (Anelka/Arsenal). You wont get as much credit if noone knows how cheap you got them.

* Disclosing many large fees can leave your whole team struggling with fan expectation (Tottenham)

Loads of balanced pro's and con's and varying motives between clubs would make this an interesting feature.

It could also tie in with the new press conference/jounalist relationship features. For example

1. Sign young star from club A. Agree to non-disclose fee with club A
2. Player plays brilliant in first 5 games
3. In press conference field several questions asking how much he cost.
4. Decide to brag how cheap player was in press conference. Impress your fans, increase relationship with journalist.
5. Ruin relationship with Club A's manager. Have to pay X amount of compensation for breaking terms of transfer, annoy your own chairman.
6. Club A's manager under pressure from his fans for selling star on the cheap.
7. Other clubs looking for non-disclosed sales tend to ignore your offers as they dont believe you can keep your mouth shut

F.i. the most important aspect of Cruyff tactics philosophy is always having a diamond in midfield. And when playing with 1 AMC and 2 MC's, it's your DL's (or DR's) job to become the DMC! And there are (as mentioned) far more situations where certain players must take up certain positions.

I'd like to be able to give my players instructions of where to move, like in: "IF your DM goes to MC, THEN your DCL goes to DMC", or: "IF your DL goes forward THEN your DLC-DRC-DR become DLC-DC-DRC", etc.

One cool thing Player Manager used to have was that in Tactics it had the pitch divided in (I believe) 12 squares (4 high, 3 sideways), and you could position all your players where you wanted according to in which square the ball was, and had this for attacking and defending. So when the ball was in the top left square while attacking you had your AML there with the ball and the rest of your players where you wanted them to either receive the cross or back up the AML. Or for my Ajax/Cruyff tactics I could f.i. place my DL as DMC when attacking and back into DL when defending.

That PM system together with the instructions would be great for me.

The second most thing I would like to see are some of the hidden attributes of my players. I think that if a player has been at my club for a pretty long while I should know if he was professional or not, or whatever else of the hidden atts you could tell after getting to know a player better personally.

More communication with the board over transfers whether i have funds or not, for instance ive had problems signing a paticular player so i ask the board for help in negoations with the club, and also if im at low repuation club but i have an expierenced well know assistant or well known chairman or director of football i should be able to ask my assistant etc. to help convince the player to join. which leads into another idea, more communication with agents and player pre negotation if im a championship club i should be allowed to try and convince a player to join my team by offering a promise of promotion or if im a premiership team offering european football. Whats everyone elses oppinion. And dont diss my spelling its almost 1am in Australia.

Perhaps not quite as complicated as you want but my players already cover for each other... if my DC is OOP my MCd falls into the back four, if it's the full-back the MC on that side drops into the full-back position, I've seen my centre-backs dribbling past opponents and crossing because they are in the AMR/L position and the winger is covering elsewhere... My main problem with the tactics engine is trying to make my MCd sit in front of the back four as if in a DM position (like you say you want your FB to do). In FM09 he did... the tactic hasn't changed but he no longer sits in a DM position (but everything else is so much better now, my defenders start defending at the halfway point of the opposition half instead of running back to the 18 yard line and then defending.. closing down seems to be much improved, defending as a whole, whilst still iffy at tirmes, is way way better than it was, I can go on...) like I say, I want my MCd to sit in front of the back four and whilst he used to, he doesn't any more

Seperate attacking/defensive tactic screens to give instructions for defending and then attacking.

Also, instead of the tactical screen as you see it now, I'd rather it see in 3D pitch shape and maybe even animations, i.e. when you click 'often' run from deep ....then it sort of just shows you the movements that player will make, the wide play etc...seeing a player on the training field 'move into channels' ....I just think it'd allow you to get a better sense of your tactics before game play. I think FM are probably well off this sort of thing though but It'd be a step forward IMO. Heck, maybe even a long time in the future, on the "3D tactics match screen" ...you can move the players manually into the sort of positions you want.

Imagine this:

Scout Report "Opposition usually play 4-4-2, very wide, high line" etc.....then you go onto the 3d match screen, you have a choice of then clicking yourself against standard formations such as 4-5-1, 4-4-2 etc....but also an opposition to click on your scout recommendation i.e. "chelsea will play 4-4-2" so you click that. The little 3d men come up on the screen on the pitch as Chelsea would 'line up' ....and then you can move your players for a 'defensive system' to how you want, what player is picking up what position etc....I.e defensively go 4-4-2 and match up man for man but then attacking, go 4-3-3 with a striker dropping in as 3rd midfield.

Also the 'manual moving' would also allow to sort out the likes of wide play. Isn't it frustrating when you want to play a system that involves:


FB - flying forward
WG - when we have the ball, basically playing really narrow, dropping inside regularly, but without it, closing down the full back. Whatever I try, I can't seem to do this, you have to play them as AMRC/AMLC and then do "man marking" on their full back specific instructions to make sure defensively your not being raped out wide.
CB - when you have it, their right out wide with the DM covering the centre, FB's nice and high up.

then when you lose it, CB quickly get back into position etc......you just can never properly replicate stuff like that.

This is what I'd love to see. I can see it myself but I imagine most are just reading without a clue of what I'm talking about.

This would indeed be great. To incorporate this feature into scout reports (whenever your scout has been instructed to watch 1-3 games of a player) would be legendary.

Make it so when another club offer one of my staff a contract it alerts me and doesn't let me continue until I've either offered them a contract or not. Too many times do I miss the news article and then lose a staff member. It should be a high priority mail!

Oh yeah - I want to open Youth Acadamies over the world and get regular feedback from my 'Brazilian Academy Manager' on who's looking good, who to look out for - then, when they are 16 or something, you can invite any starlets over for a week, to check them out yourself - your Brazilan, for example,Academy Manager can also keep tabs on any talent in Brazil and act as a scout, you could even do culture swaps, i.e sending a few English youths over to brazil for a weeks training camp, they then pick up maybe the odd technical and flair attribute (Brazil's attributes as a nation) this kind of thing does happen IRL my cousin who is at Man Utd's Academy @ 15 went to Belgium for a week......sorry for the rubbish 100th post!!

100% agree mate, have always wanted to see Youth academies worldwide in FM. I think the youth setup / scouting network needs to be updated!

Couldnt agree more mate, thats the 3 main things id like to see vastly improved. Im personally not interested in 3D match engines, id rather see time spent on the realism of the game. Id also like to see the transfer system improved some more again, its got better but could still be improved further. The introduction of agents was a great touch. Would love to see the youth element of FM improved, like having more in depth than just under 18's! Not sure if there is a reason they have never had players younger than 14 on the game but would be good to have junior teams perhaps and under 16 national squads?! The scouting network needs to be improved also in my opinion, still not in depth enough and i never end up using the scouts much, which is a shame.

E.g. when it's raining heavy (heavy downpour) for water to spray up in the air when the ball is passed along the floor.

Or if it's snowing and there is no under soil heating, for there to be ball trails left when the ball is passed along the floor with the ball trails slowly covered back over with snow as the snow continues to fall down etc.

In real life some players have massively long names which wouldn't be able to fit on a shirt so are given nicknames for the back of thier shirts eg. Błaszczykowski from Dortmund has 'Kuba' on the back of his shirt.

In my long term save for example Barcelona have a player called Jesus Fernandez Fernandez and Fernandez Fernandez shows up above his head on the ME, I just think it would be both easier and look nicer if the player had the ability to change that without having to use nicknames, which are player specific and to me personally are annyoing in the Team Sheet.

Would also help when you have many players called tthe same thing. Again on my long term save the first choice Brazil team contains 2 players both called 'Da Silva' and one D Silva, again its incredibly annoying/confusing when you are watching the game.

An indicator is of course the personality description, but not that much can be gathered from that and the only way to know what some of the descriptions mean is by guides where scout programs have been used. Although, to some extent, some hidden attributes are needed for keeping the game interesting (realistic even), I don't think it's reasonable that I, after managing a player for five years, have NO idea of his level of professionalism or ambition.

My suggestion is that attributes like ambition, professionalism, loyalty, pressure and sportsmanship start off rather clouded but as you, and your backroom staff, spend time with the players become more and more visible and accurate. Perhaps using graphical bars we can at least get an idea of the various aspects of the players personality.

This way it would be rewarding with long-term thinking. The more time my staff and I spend with the same players, the more we get to know them. Seeing as how tutoring (which now is completely unexplained and left to guessing) is VITAL to development I think it only fair, and a lot funnier, to have a better view of the players personalities.

I think it would also add to the players 'coming alive' and not just being pass-n-shoot-numbers.

I would like to see all the dates when Newgens are created by their countries to be incorperated in the main DB. Perhaps with a tickbox at the start to say whether you want them or not.

Also, when you are looking to loan a player out I would like to see a more comprehensive breakdown of their facilities and coaching team. I know you can get a sense through the Staff/Information screen, but I would like to see a more detailed, simplified breakdown. Something along the lines of "This club would help develop X' fitness and his technique, but would not help with his...whatever."

Something like that.

A better handing of contract renewals in you are over the wage budget. Instead of cutting all renewals to a third of the current one how the option to have certain players renewed at the current wage, some lower and some having their contracts run out.

If I manage a player for five years I know everything I need to know about him. The game helps you to learn about your players, they aren't just "pass-n-shoot-numbers" to me... It's easy to get to know your players, to make them "come alive", and after 5 years if you don't "know" them then you are doing something wrong, it's not a flaw in the game...

Very simple one but on the stats page I'd like it to show how players get their goals. So for instance, my main striker could score 15 goals and this could be shown with 5 headers, 5 left foot, 5 right foot.

Simply 'cause if I can see he's getting a much larger portion of his goals with his head but I'm playing a less wing oriented formation I could fix it so we're getting more crosses into the box to increase his chances of scoring. Ditto if he's getting no headed goals from a wide formation, I could narrow it up to get him in one on one more often.

With the amount of immersion in the game I sometimes forget things. I know that there is the ability to makes notes in the notebook, which I do, however I don't find it overly user friendly.
What I would like to propose is the addition of what I am roughly calling a future planning screen.

With the screen below (sorry if it is a bit on the large size), all the relevant information regarding the player is there, from abilities and ratings, home grown status and due dates, contracts and values, anyway you get the idea.
What the screen doesn't tell me is what my future planning is, what I am going to do at the end of the season or possibly the next transfer window.

Looking at a couple of players, Felix Lavigne 16 yr old GK, in 2016 he will qualify as trained at club. As the team plays in Euro Comps it is something I need to remember and take into consideration the rules regarding homegrown players.
Wes Brown and Leon Osman two great players whose careers are very much winding down, and Joe Dunn a young MC who will be trained in nation by 2015.



So future planning, and what I propose. For me it would be handy to have another column with a drop down menu with a list of selections.
To aid in my homegrown rules for Europe, Felix Lavigne might have "stay/keep at club", Joe Dunn might have "send out on loan" and Wes brown and Leon Osman might have "release end of season". Others may be sell for profit, release end of contract, look to transfer, retain as coach, currently a tutor, look to tutor, needs a tutor. Anyway you get the idea

As opposed to setting some of these in the transfer status, the future planning is not something set in stone and would have no impact on a player, it would simply be a planning screen with which you could analyse, change and adapt according to your season. It would provide you a screen with which you could see where you are going and what your thoughts are in one screen, and provide a simple way of organising ones assault on world football domination

Mentioned this in another thread, but some kind of tickbox system for assigning scouts to multiple countries more quickly and easily, and enabling the user to see which countries are already being scouted without having to check back through all the other scouts or make notes on paper.

But yes, that would be freaking fantastic. In the back of our minds we know what we're doing with someone. We know what their future holds. But when we are overseeing 50+ players (at that major club level) we need help keeping track of them. Currently FM does a horrible job at doing that. Its not user friendly for someone who gives a crap about their u18 team and lower class players, its just too much for one person to handle without help.

For instance I have dual monitors, and load up my team's excel sheet on the other while playing FM. On that excel sheet, it is organized vertically by position (DR, DL, DC, DMC, MC, ST) horizontally it is organized by Players currently at club, Players owned by club, Senior squad, U18 squad, players on loan, players to loan/transfer, players coming in (with a date). I place the players where they belong by their position and place on my team. I bold my homegrown players as they are ones even if they suck I cannot get rid of. I italicize my starting 11. All of my players have in (parentheses) their age and available positions, but place them at their best position on the sheet. For instance, for my DRs, I word them as this: Dyer (23) (D RC, DM, MC) (HG) Jung (19) (D RL). Like for players I want to sell, I place them in the column of (to loan/transfer). I know they're still on my team etc but atleast I made a point to myself to determine these players as not for my future. Like I word it as: Allen (21) (DM, MC) (HG) (To loan). Woodhampton (19) (D/WBL M CL) (To transfer).

I do not want to change their birthdate every time they have one. I don't want to update their HG status when it changes. I want to see their due date next to their name. I want what telv9 has above, but with what he said, what your plans are to do with them. List doesn't have to be much, could even be something you type in. But irregardless, its something that definitely needs to be added. These drop down boxes also need to be filters you can also change. So I can search, quite easily I might add, for my senior players who are "look to loan". Or U18 who is listed as "release/do not offer contract' whatever. I know their are notes etc, which I wouldn't mind and would use, if they were implemented options like on the screen above. Create a filter noted as "Manager comment" and whatever I wrote on my note shows up there.

One of the things I would like to see is the ability to export your save game from a previous version into the new version. I'm now in my 10th season with the mighty Berwick Rangers, and enjoying good success in the SPL. It would be fantastic if the data from that save could be exported and then brought into FM2012 so that I could continue my game, but enjoy all of the great features of the new version.

Just a on-the-side idea, creating tours and friendlies in other countries. The 'Club Stature' option can be worked through this as going to other countries such as USA and China to play other big teams can boost your club's image and increase numbers of fans. Of course, you need to be of a certain stature to have a positive influence from these but I feel it could be added to FM12.

I would love to have the ability of negotiating more complicated contracts, when my club offers me to renew my contract I would to be able to name more conditions, not only wage (for example: "I will sign the contract if the transfer budget will be set at X"/ "... if you sign a certain player for me").

Another idea, is for the game to reflect the very public club-presidential elections in Spain, but I imagine that this would be rather complicated.

I have lots of wishes, but my main wish is editor related and I'll stick to this one for now.

Please can we have the ability to allow teams from different nations play in the same league system, yet retaining their original nationality? This worked fine on FM10 and allowed me to create a true World League db, but on FM11 all teams had to be the same nationality which took away their identity and meant clubs would adopt transfer policies of the nation they were set in, rather than their own. Or perhaps there should be an option to create a World/Super League that isn't attached to a particular nation?

If anyone visits the Editor's Hideaway you will see there is a big following for these types of fantasy leagues, my one alone in FM10 had over a thousand downloads and I would really like to make another in FM12, but this is a major stumbling block.

If this isn't to be changed back, I would be grateful to know why SI decided to change this in FM11.

Yes, I think Zanetti is right: in Italy we have many ways to make football transfers come true and of course I would like to see them in FM!

I usually have been reading but don't posting in this forum, so I think it's time to write you my opinions too. Well, in my personal wishlist, I really would like to see:

1. More realistic manager's transfers: how can it be that "small" managers like De Canio or Pioli are managing Juventus, Inter or AC Milan, while for exemple "big" managers like Ancelotti, Lippi or even Mourinho are forced to retirement because they've been without a team for a really long time? How is it possible that no one wants a big name like that managing a top class team?
Second: why do I always see Thomas Schaaf, Marcelo Bielsa or Quique Flores managing clubs like AC Milan or Juventus? I think the game should have a much more realistic range of "possible managers" if their current manager leaves the club, because in RL these clubs often choose their managers among former players (or at least preferred staff)
Still: if I manage to go through lower divisions and reach the top class with a nearly unknown team with no money at all and still manage to remain in the Serie A, it should count as a big success. In-game, if you don't win something, it counts as nothing!

2. Better transfers: over the years, I've seen clubs like Real Madrid buying hundreds of players like Marchionni, Taddei, Mascara or Caracciolo... in RL Real Madrid is probably the only club which buys just affirmed champions and not tons of "normal" players from italian middle-class teams like those names I've written. Last, but not least, I always see teams buying a big number of players: going on over three years, this turns out to be a complete refundation of nearly every team in the game and I personally find it a bit unrealistic, even because often happens that new bought players never or rarely play. So: not so many transfers, but well balanced!

3. I personally would like to have the possibility, when managing a club like AC Milan, Inter, Roma or Juventus, to buy a player from a rival club: if we take a look at RL, we discover that a player like Andrea Pirlo has played in his career for Inter, Milan and Juventus. Buying a player from a rival club, expecially when managing in Italy, where players often move from a team to a rival one (like for exemple Doni, Vieri, Inzaghi, Seedorf, Chivu or Mexès and many others over the years) is fairly impossible and never happens with team controlled by the IA!

4. Italian managing system is completely different from the British one: why is Adriano Galliani (AC Milan's director) there just for decoration if in RL does he nearly everything in his club (except managing, of course)? Directors still have no power at all, they're there just for fun!!

For the rest, I find this game nearly perfect in its every aspect!!

I think I have posted here before ... but I think I will post again some things that need an upgrade:

1. Training screen

For the love of all that in (un)holy. I have never seen an "improvement" like the one done from FM10 to FM11. Did a blind monkey do that for you?? ... it is simply hopeless. Soooooo many annoying extra clicks if you wish to use it beyond the already existing training schedules.

Either sit down and rethink the whole thing, or at least go back to the FM10 screen. PLEASE!!

2. Documentation

The online manual is in most cases useless to anyone not familiar with FM series. Some things are barely mentioned (like Tutoring), and when they are, all you state is that the feature exists. But no help in figuring out how to use it properly. If a user does not have access to some kind of FM forum, they are royally screwed.

Don't just state something like: "In this screen you have the option of letting an experienced player tutor an youngster" ... without at least explaining what the differences are between the various options are, and what potential outcome can be expected.

It feels like you think the Forumites will just reverse engineer it for you, and let everyone else know. It just gets too tiresome to reverse engineer everything you did in FM10, again, in FM11 .. and in FM12 and ....

3. Non-contract terms

At game start many players in lower divisions have this contract type, but you can't offer it to anyone. That just seems odd. Make it a usable contract type please. Would make lower level managment easier and more realistic.

4. Forcing AssMan to play certain players in Reserves/Youth teams

I feel like I have to control the teams to get play time for specific players. If I leave it to AI coaches, then often certain players are not used, or they play out of position ... like playing my winger as a striker, giving him a 4.80 rating. I would like to designate that he has to use certain players in the lineup. Maybe couple it with the AI coach personality, so you could risk him overriding my orders, leaving me to reconsider him as the team coach or maybe even having to let him go.

5. Making more relevant comments to other managers' comments

Having another manager saying that my team is so bad that we will definitely be relegated, all I can do in response is tell the press that that manager is a jerk or that his team sucks as well. Would be more interesting if I could say something like "Lets see at the end of the season, Asshat" or something more relevant to the actual comment he just made. Or when they complain after being soundly beaten 4-1 at home by the "relegation candidates", that my team "tries to run the ball over the line, instead of shooting more" ... and all I can say in return is: "I don't like him".

Well, perhaps players will take pay cuts based on an algorithm that checks how often they've played, been benched, injured (so as good players with long term injuries don't get abused by this system) and expected game time at the buying club.

- Staff wage budget. Much appreciated SI!

- Much more complex financial breakdowns. At the minute, it's still extremely basic with 'merchandise' etc. I'd much prefer to be able to click on a category and see a mass breakdown, showing just how much an affiliate in another country is making me with merchandise, same with key players and also when going on tours, an indication of whether or not any financial increase will come of it.

- At the minute with transfer speculation, it's a case of 'dismiss speculation or tell them your player is available for the right price'. How about something similar to real life, where when speculation about one of our players is going on, we can say 'He's going nowhere unless we get £44 million' (similar to Pastore irl).

Starting off managing U18 (club)

I think this would be a great addition to FM.

This does happen in the real world and a prime example would be Brendan Rodgers.

He started off as a player but was forced to retire while at Reading when he was 20. He was then appointed as their youth team manager in 1995. Rodgers moved to Chelsea in September 2004 to become youth team manager after being approached by José Mourinho, and was appointed manager of the reserve team in July 2006.

On 24th November 2008, Rodgers was appointed as manager of Watford in the Championship, his first top-level managerial position.

Rodgers chose to leave Watford and agreed to become manager of Reading, and was appointed on 5 June 2009.

Rodgers was appointed manager of Championship team Swansea City on 16 July 2010. This season he won promotion with them to the Premiership by winning the Play-Offs.


I would love for something like this to be introduced in FM. You can start off as a youth team manager first (which would obviously be easier to get appointed to if you didn't have a great reputation as a manager), then if you do well with the U18's you could be asked by the current club manager if you would like to become the new Reserve coach, then if you do well with the Reserve coach you could maybe be asked to become the caretaker manager (of a lower league team, doubt it would happen at a Premiership level club) if the manager of the club you're at gets sacked , or you could apply to managerial positions at lower league clubs.

This could possibly lead the way to having you, the U18, picking a coaching team for the youth team (or maybe the first team manager would decide this for you) and you would have a U18 physio and possibly one scout to scout the next team, or maybe you could be in charge for recommending youth players to the first team coach to sign.

Obviously this would open the way for more interaction between the U18, Reserve and First Team managers:

1. U18 manager could give feedback to the Reserve manager (and maybe First Team manager) on how well the current U18 side is doing.
2. The Reserve manager could ask the U18 manager to rest Player A, because he is interested in trying him out in the Reserve team to see if he's ready.
3. The First Team manager could ask the U18 manager or the Reserve manager to rest Player B, because he wants to play him in an upcoming game to see how well he can perform at the top level and to see if his ready to join the first team.
4. The First Team manager could ask the Reserve team manager to give Player C, some playing time because he is just getting back from an injury and the First Team manager wants him to get back to full match fitness before playing him for the first team again.

Another useful thing is that really good youth team players will probably add you to their 'Favoured Personnel' and as a result would be easier to sign them if you move to becoming the first team manager at a different team.

Manager application form improvements.

In my game, I just applied for the job of a large club and realised that there is no way the board could differentiate my application from other applying managers. Perhaps a club's board could have particular wishes they would like to see in their new manager such as their playing style, the fact that they'd want to reduce the wage bill upon appointment etc.

For example, perhaps even an interview with the board of the club you apply for:

Board: Our current annual expenditure is of concern to the board. How would you address such a problem should you be given the job?

You:
[] Reduce the wage bill immediately by terminating staff/player contracts.
[] Look to sell a big name or two in the next available transfer window.
[] Seek to turn results around with immediate effect and increase income through ticket sales and prize money.
etc.

Or:

Board: Here at 'X FC', we look to play a certain style of football. If you were given the job, which mentality of football would you be looking to implement?

You:
[] Attack-minded football to please the fans.
[] Defensive, counter-attacking football which places more emphasis on victory rather than style.

For instance, I have added in stats like average passes per game, minutes per game, distance covered per game, pass completion. It comes in handy when seeing who's pulling their weight on the pitch or how your tactics are working. I only found this out recently and it is pretty handy for having a detailed look at your squad, like this for example:



On a different note, I would like to see if a player is left out of a big game i.e like Berbatov was out of the champions league final squad, then they might come in and ask for a tranfer request or morale drops significantly. It could happen to the key players or important first teamers in your squad, players with low professionalism, or big player repuations.

When a trialist/loanee leaves the club, I would love if the AssMan would compile a report on how he did during his spell at the club. Did he perform up to expectations, some stats and other related data. I don't always follow my Reserves that closely, and many stats are lost once the guy leaves the club. Having the report would give a good overview of the time at the club.

This may have already been suggested but can we not have youth camps around the world like the big clubs do in real life? So a big club can set up a good academy somewhere in Europe and take the best players.

More realistic Transfers from the AI. No 'Manager Transfer Targets' but, the AI have to search around for players who would fit the bill for their needed podition.

Maybe if they were looking for a 'Commanding Centre-Back' they would go out & try & buy someone like a Per Mertesacker, Chris Samba etc. iunstead of buying the same old players who don't actually do anything for the team. For example Mancini City... every save they sign 'Cabaye, Manoel, Farfan etc.' It gets a bit boring, the AI shouldn't have a pre-compiled list of targets. Also, more players should become unhappy etc. with maybe a new feature of them 'wanting European Football' etc. not just 'Unhappy'

I might be completley stupid but, that's what I think needs some improvment.

Also, the Match Engine. Make that more realistic

It would be nice if we could view what a player looked like when he was a kid and comparing him to how he is now. I see a lot of posts/threads where people show the growth of their players via 2 screen shots. I always say to myself that I will do this next time with my youngsters, but I always forget.

A button, maybe something similar to growth arrows can show what the playes attributes were at a certain date. I think it would help in keeping track of how a player is developing and how effective your training is. I realise that in the training section for the player it shows a development graph, this is just for the year though. Something that can show the development of a players career who wouold be massively helpful.

The season has just finished here in Greece, and on the sports' news websites there are a whole lot of footballers giving interviews and stating their personal opinions on some common themes that include: their team's MVP of the season, the league's MVP of the season and the best goal of the season. It is very interesting to read and all the players are choosing players from other teams, even rival teams, as the best players in the League. It would be nice to add this to FM, to get an idea of your team's reputation, or a specific player's reputation. Players are even commenting on smaller teams: Henri Kamara of Atromitos stated that Abdun of Kavala (that finished 6th) was like Zidane for his team, with his amazing technical abilities. Kafes of AEK stated that Mirallas of Olympiacos (a rival team) was this year's MVP of the league. Serge Die of Kavala stated that Djibril Cisse was like a one-man team for Panathinaikos.

These would be nice additions, to get a perspective and personalise your gaming experience. Maybe it could be linked with a player's reputation and how much it increases over one season, based on their performances/abilities.

I'm sure my wishes were posted before but I'm not gonna go ahead and read 7k posts, sorry

1) Multiple set piece choices and detailed set piece tactics, like in CM 2010. We should be able to state where players will make runs, who will pass the ball to which player and there should be at least 5 tactics for each set piece that we can use in-game randomly. So we won't see the same tactic in every single set piece. Plus, I don't want to have a single player to take penalties or other set pieces. There should be an option to make the game cycle through our selected takers.

2) Transfer reports: Sometimes in backroom advice, our coaches offer us loan reports. I haven't seen a "transfer report" in there. I think that you can scout a list of players in the player search but the player search either gives you the most well known and expensive players, rather than the best. And I don't want to select 10 attributes to find a good MC because even if he has 2 of them lower than 13, he would still be very useful for low prices. There are some hidden gems in the game, and often my backroom staff offer me those but when I don't need them. I should be able to ask for a "MC transfer report" and they would find good MC players with varying prices and hidden gems they find would be in that report too. And it is realistic since irl managers can ask for transfer reports.

3) The famous second ball: Add the second ball dammit, I don't want to wait for 40 seconds, watching players run after a ball to take a set piece

4) Nerfed key highlights: Yesterday, while I was watching the game in key highlights mode, my keeper kiced the ball to the left flank, an opponent tackled my player. The ball went into touch and we didn't even watch the throw in or sth. If he got past that opponent, there were still a couple opponents to steal the ball. That was NOT a key moment in the game, key highlights take way too long with some highlights in which nothing happens. If I watch the game in 3-D and in realistic speed, each game takes 10 minutes in Key mode. It shouldn't take that long.

6) A use for money: This has been talked about a lot, I know, but there really should be a use for money. Not like in FIFA Manager but we earn millions of pounds and we don't spend them. It's useless. I have a couple ideas. First one is of course, donating it to the club so we can have an extra 10m budget, lol. The second one, the more complex yet entertaining and meaningful one is building academies. 10 million pounds should be more than enough to build a football academy in-game. We would have the first option to sign players from our academy, just like Gheorghe Hagi's academy in Romania. AS we get richer and spend more money on our academy, it would be upgraded and if we can sign good youth coaches and scouts to the academy, it would become a wonderkid factory. This should take many years but at least we should get reasonable prospects 2 years after we start the academy. I think this would be a good addition to the game.

7) Individual match bonus budget: We should have a match bonus budget to use on special occasions like derby games, cup ties and championship games etc. If we put in a great deal of money for a CL quarter final game, perhaps it would give us an opportunity to win the game and get to the semi-finals against all odds.

8) Warming players up: I know many players would hate it if this was implemented, but this is a reality in football. You must warm your players up for at least 10 minutes, before pushing them to the field. I for one always plan my substitutions ahead, so I can select a couple players and send them to warm up and sub them after 10 minutes for example. And if for some reason, I have to sub in a player who hasn't warmed up properly, the injury risk for that player should be higher. It would make the game harder, yet more realistic

9) Another famous one: "with & without ball tactics": The older games had it, now we don't have this really important tactical option. Even Ultimate Soccer Manager had this option many, many years ago. SI games, you know it's important, you know it's a real deal in world football, you know what you have to do. Add it!

10) Better regens for God's sake: There are so few good regens in the latter stages of the game. You get either top class players, or players who wouldn't survive in npower league2. There should be many more middle-class regens to play for teams like Villa, Newcastle etc. and many good players to play for Chelsea, Man Utd etc with some superstars. Currently, what I've experienced is there are a good number of superstar regens, and just a few middle-top class regens. There should be much more, or else abilitywise, the teams lose their quality in 5-6 years in the game as real players begin retiring in masses. And please put reasonable limitations for regens, such as if a forward has many abilities above 15, his composure shouldn't be 4, a level of BSN/S forward. Or no regens with a stamina of 2. I've seen many of those, 8-9 stamina should be the minimum standard for moderate to high PA players.

That's pretty much it for now, but I had many more in my mind. Just couldn't remember them. I would love any feedback regarding these for the sake of argument, either on this board or through PM. Cheers!

On the regen point, I have found that the regens generated is actually quite realistic to real-life circumstances.

How many times does Manchester United have a kid be in their youth ranks from the time as a young lad (10-12) and have them grow up to be a world-class footballer? Yeah, not often.

I'll just go off by my long-term save on FM10 and what's created. Year is 2050, I've been at this club for 10 years. We have state of the art youth facilities and youth academy, and top training grounds (I cannot update them so I'm assuming they are at 20/20, atleast 19/19). We have had TWO (2) regens that are legitimate world-class potential players. One is a striker the other is a mid-fielder. Both of these kids will be english internationals, both are under 20.

How realistic is that? For a top-tier team to have youth products that were there for a long time to come into my squad and be english internationals? That is VERY realistic. Just because you have 20/20/youth academy doesn't mean that every year you're going to produce one or a couple regens who should be in my first team? If you're at a very very good club, you're not going to have many be able to play in your starting 11.

If you are lower league or lower class club (like bolton, fulham, etc) you're going to get the same quality of regens (atleast you should, because pretty much they all have the same youth system etc). But for these clubs, if their best players do not get poached from another academy at a young age or are sold to another academy, they are more likely to be in their teams starting 11 because they are of lower quality.

If you are a world-class team, you shouldn't have many, if any, world-class quality players coming up through your youth ranks. Its just very unrealistic. Would I love for all of my players who will play in my club one day be born and raised at my club? Sure. But the truth is the best regens are produced everywhere, at random clubs, because that's reality.

How many players in Man Uniteds U18 team are from England? Not a lot. How many have been with them since they were boys? Even less. So even if everyone of them were to become a world-class player, only a handful would be born and raised Man U.

Every season my youth intake usually has one player that will be a "decent PL player". Sometimes there is two. Sometimes there is one that is dubbed 'one of the best in his generation' or w/e. This has happened twice for me in 10 years. Seems pretty realistic to me.

For those decent PL players, I end up keeping them and then selling them, however most of my players are rubbish and I sell them or cut them. Because they are rubbish. Just like real life. How many players have came through Man Uniteds youth system? Tons. How many played in the EPL? Not a lot. How many played for United? Even less. How many were world-class players? A handful.

I'm not talking about my own youth system. I usually buy the best regens from around the world. The point is, when I look at the regens in the EPL after 6-7 years, I don't see many quality players. I mean if I look at their attributes, the teams which are supposed to be top half finishing teams have very little quality regarding regens. I think I'm failing to explain here. Let's say the starting sum of CA's of the first eleven of Bolton is 1400. After a few years, as the squads begin to be filled with regens, that number falls to 1100. That's not exact of course, I don't use genie or anything, it's just an educated guess by looking at the attributes of the regens. I think regens should have more quality overall, because really there are many good players in average clubs such as Ireland and Young for Villa. All average teams have quality players, and the rest of their squads usually have players with 12-16 points of abilities in many skills. I didn't see many regens with that kind of ability at those clubs after a few years, that's what I'm talking about. I hope I made myself clear this time :/

It says in the tips that better physios predict the length of the injuries better. I'm guessing they are helping about the length of the injury too generally but they should be more effective. The better the physio, the shorter the player should take to recover

That is more clear. I thought you were specifically talking about regens coming from your own team. I also buy from all over the world as that's the only way in FM (and IRL) to realistically become a dominant powerhouse with nothing but talent.

From what I have seen, I agree yes, overall, the regen quality is slightly less then RL players. I wouldn't say it is a big drop though. Maybe 5-10%, if that.

In my game the power has gone away from England and Spain, and into Germany, Italy and France (France especially). Lyon for instance has 5 players who have to have a CA above 180, and all are worth 50M+. They then have 4-5 players who have to have a CA of 160-180, who are worth 20M +.

They aren't even dominant, they win a lot of games but are beatable. Similar to a modern day Barca.

I actually just loaded up a new game and looked at Real Madrid. Personally I find the Lyon team in 2050 to be better then them. Just because english clubs aren't dominate in the game in 10-15 years doesn't mean its not realistic. Based on the current trend of player development I wouldn't be surprised to see England ranked 3rd or 4th in UEFA by 2020, 2025.

Possibly there is a truth to how the game develops, as I believe players are wanting to stay more home-grown instead of moving abroad for higher wages because the teams in spain, italy, france and germany are offering more $ for their players. Also the anglo-sphere isn't exactly pro-football. Former Spanish and French colonies are better at producing footballers then former english colonies. Thus players prefer to go to their father's country over another.

I just feel that a general trend that happens in the game is that England no longer dominates and the other 4 in europe do. My uefa coefficents have italian and french clubs dominating. And these clubs look just as good, if not better, then current day clubs that have a similar coefficent.

This can be done under individual instructions. There is an option for Wide Play, which can be set to 'Hug Touchline', 'Cut Inside' or 'Moves into Channels'.

No, those instructions can only go so far. Cut inside for wingers, they still pretty much stay wide but then with the ball move inside. Full backs, if it's narrow, stay quite narrow still until they go forward, although when they do go forward, it works fairly well.

Another suggestion coming up, match speed and highlight speed should be separated once again. Even with key highlights, the games take too long if I watch them at a reasonable speed, but I want the non-highlight parts of the game to go at full speed, just like old days..
