Ok, Ive been doing alot of thinking about all the threads ive been reading on here and what i want to see from the new FM games, 2011,2012,1013 etc.
I think we all agree that the actualy football side (ie matches) are pretty good, the 3d pitches, the actual game play, just need tweaks to introduce more skills, player movements and minor stuff that will come together, lets be honest, we all want to complete the season and win more than watch the little men run around, but as we can see the little men, lets add the detail.
So we are all pretty much agreed that we want to see the off-field improved, even if it is just progressionally, so my advice on little things.

Training: This has to be improved, we need to get more in-depth with the training schedules, as well as making sure that players actual improve, the best coaches in the world only having to coach one aspect of the game (shooting for example) should be able to lift a young strikers finishing from 10 to 15 inside 2/3 seasons, especially if they are also recieving advice from a mentor. I also feel that coaches from foreign countries should use different techniques to help train the players, for example a coach from brazil would encourage flair to improve from the nature of his coaching, where as an italian coach would improve concentration, or something along those lines to reflect a coaches knowledge and personal skills
Interaction: As managers we should be able to play better mind games with opposition managers and players, i hate not being able to tell the oppositions best centre backs that he is a weakness because hes old and slow, putting doubt in the back of a players head, also picking my own players up by telling them they are better than their opposite number, torres vs vidic springs to mind.
Transfers: This has to change, i had to offer £44M for aaron lennon to be allowed to find a contract, then a day later Shaktar have a bit of £9m accepted, what is that all about? every player has their price, but how can it be such a massive difference? some consistentcy is needed, just because your a new manager doesnt mean your a complete idiot with transfers, thats the way i see it.
Tactics: Lots of threads comment on the tactics of both the players and the team itself, definately needs the on ball and off ball tactics, for example the wide 4141 to 4 3 2 1 formation that almost every team in the premier league seem to play. Also with the players tactics, its all well and good telling a player how you want him to play, but micheal owen is a poacher, nothing more, nothing less, so why should i be able to tell him to be a target man? it wouldnt happen, players have their own styles and i think that should be included, so you can select the way you want a player to play out of 2/3 options that best suit that players attributes.
Non season: Lower league clubs need money, but us (as the manager) have no say in how to get that money other than selling players, why not be able to open the club up for tours for the fans to get closer to the club, and also lowering ticket prices for small matches, man utd vs barnet at old trafford wouldnt bring a 75000 crowd, unless the price of a ticket was maybe £5? something to think about
The Manager: We, As managers, need to be more involved, in my opinion, we have massive contracts for doing well, but no life to spend the money on, why not let us learn languages, have a life away from football, allow us to have coaching stats like every other manager does, why cant we be great motivators and have excellent technique coaching skills? i do believe these 2 things are desperately needed in the newer releases.
Backroom Staff: I think that FM also needs to introduce more backroom staff, finance managers, construction managers, secretaries, psychologists and nutritionists, we all know that finance, psychology and food has huge effects on players and everyone else, so lets get them more involved, plus physios? what is their purpose, they are either very good physios, that reduce injuries, or they are useless, unfortunatly its the later, maybe changing their role to club doctor, chief medical adviser, on pitch physio, back room physio, would be better, as well as letting them recommend players with constant injury problems to go off for surgery. Plus i would like to see constructions managers that work closely with the scouts and you as the manager to build sports academies/youth camps/centres of excellents, whatever you want to call them, up and down the country you are in, as well as abroad to help introduce the best young talent to your team to help benfit you in the future

I will say, i know alot of people that have lost interest in the football manager games because they are getting too in-depth and have alot of friends that prefer the original game that is cm01-02, arguably a great game, so maybe the game does need to divide between a simple game and an in-depth game for those that prefer football, and those that prefer all the managing side of things,

Feel free to reply to this thread with other ideas or criticism. These are just little things that i personally, as a total managing player of football manager would like to see.

Both training and interaction have both been announced as been revamped in FM11.

Take a look at the announcement video found on the www.footballmanager.com

not at all, that is my point, the amount of players that complain on FM for not playing when its simply ridiculous, Steve never complained about not playing, yet a back up will want to transfer after just 3 months of not playing, it just doesnt happen when you know your the second keeper, or ever if your second to like messi or something, the player will want to leave, its not that real

if this is aimed at my comment, then i have seen the video and look forward to the changes, but just want to emphasis the kind of changes to the training that we want to see, thats all that im saying, and the same with the interaction, i know they have updated and revamped it, hopefully improving it a long way from 2010, but again just making sure they understand the level of interaction we are looking for, well i am looking for.

You can start as a player manager

You get average playing stats that match your team, id say you can choose the position yourself, and average managerial stats. The manager stats won’t really improve while you’re playing, but as you get on your player stats drop and you eventually need to decide “Do I need to hang up my boots and concentrate on managing, or do I have one more season in me?” once you finish playing your manager stats will be ‘unlocked’ and able to improve and so on?

Actually, I'm sure it's been stated that the average number of injures in the game is too low.

There are meant to be more interaction options in FM11.

With this, you've got to look at the factors. How long did you spend following Lennon with the intent to buy, saying you're interested in him and praising him? Shaktar or Shaktar's manager might have a better relationship with the selling club or Lennon than you. Did you offer over the odds right from the off or negotiate? The reputatiion differences between yourself and Shaktar's manager, the two leagues you're in, and the club you are will also make a difference.

All your other ideas I think are good, though you may be going a little overboard with how in-depth you want staff to be.

I was thinking this last night, although my first thought was a groundsman. Since we have pitch condition in the game now, hiring a groundsman seems to make sense. Plus, I don't think finding out the info on the groundsman for each club would be any more difficult than finding it for physios and the like. The staff section does need a bit of a revamp I think, with reserve team / youth team managers having their own specific roles. Directors of football need to be incorporated further than a cosmetic feature. I don't know why chairmen are still unviewable in-game. If we're deciding which teams offer to accept, knowing a bit about the chairman's personality and resources is vital, just being able to see his name is a bit shoddy considering how far this series has come. As you said, doctors and nutritionists would be welcome additions too. I think it'd be too much to hope for a staff revamp to be a yet unannounced feature in FM11, but at least some progress in that area for FM12 is needed.

I think SI needs to get the license to use the official Champions League and Europa League in their games. Then each match in these tournaments could be started with an awesome intro like this to build atmosphere:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NPlmY...eature=related

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xbq604rOsUY

Also, instead of the match starting directly, you should see the players march in and all players presented for the spectators.

I am not sure if it has been mentioned before but I would like to see the fans happiness with players performance. I know there already is that on a 5 game basis but I would like to see fans confidence in players throughout the season. Like an overall season confidence from the fans. Basically this can show us who is most likely to get fans player of the year and what not. As well I would like media options to say that my player is having a good season thus far blah blah blah not just is in good form at the moment.

Possibly also more extra sound effects or commentary for the games. As a previous poster said the CL theme would be awesome...

    Some minor suggestions:

If a player is rated as a set-piece-taker, captain, playmaker or targetman, that should be included in the player profile, for example:

    Danielos Andersoni

    Vice-captain
    2nd left Corner-taker
    3rd Free-Kick taker

Also, there should be statistics available for an average of all your attributes in your team or among a group in your teams, for example your defenders. It should be possible for example to see the average rating for stamina in your squad and to filter it out to only see the average rating for a certain position, for example your central midfielders. That would make it easier to asses the average strengths and weaknesses in your team.

    For example:

    Halmstads BK

    Average stamina: 10,6

    Halmstads BK strikers

    Average heading: 12,7

    and so on...

I think every club should be able to be located on a world map instead of going through long and tedious menus. If you for example click on Sweden on the world map, you would zoom in on that country and see where all Swedish clubs in the game are located. This map-feature should be included in the "information" of each club as well.

I hope that gets to be in FM11. Would be really nice feature and media could take osmething from that biography when talking about manager.

In general, I'd just like more details to do with youth development. I want to steer the development of my youth, and equip him with the tools needed to become the next Zinedine Zidane. From what I've seen thus far from the moderators, this seems to be the focus because almost everything else has been done to death. You can tweak manager interaction so far. I don't play for that sort of thing, I play because I like finding good players.

    Couple More Suggestions:
Tactics: Id love to see a new tactics arena inside the fm2011/12/13 games where we can create our own set pieces, that would be pretty cool, also a second kicker needs to be added for when in-direct set pieces are won, you suddenly have your centre back shooting for 40yards like your main free kick taker would
Players: I would also like to see a new development tool particularly used by scouts to see if a player could step up to a higher league, Adam Johnson for example was a good player at Middlesborough, but is now an exceptional one for Man City as he has moved up, attributes being more league friendly, great goal scorers in the championship are almost always average in the premier league, this should be reflected in the attributes
Attribute: For the attributes themselves, i would like to see some more incorporated into the system, such as shot power for outfielder, and shot stopping for goalkeepers and other little additions to help you pick the right players, Buffon for example and european goal keepers are great shot stoppers but cant handle toffee, some more to think about

I think it would be nice if the game went away from the current dull Powerpoint-presentation-look and instead had something like this:

The overview screen is a 3D-picture of your manager-office. In it are several objects that can be clicked to get to the proper sub-menus:

    * Computer: Get you to a within-the-game Windows computer screen with an "In-box", "Save" and "Options"-shortcuts

    * Window with football field seen through it. Get you to Training-menus

    * Newspaper with sport sections on your desk: Get you to Tables and League-statistics

    * World map on wall: Get you to Scouting

    * Team picture on wall: Enables you to access your squad

    * Tactics chart on desk (filled with arrows): Go to Tactics

    * Door: For a meeting with the board

    * Football lying on floor: Go to match

    * Shelf with files and folders: Access statistics and finances for your club

And so on. Also, add some good and proper sound effects when accessing each of these options

When you compare two players you should have the following colour-coding of the comparison bars:

Green: if selected player is better in that attribute (darker green for more difference)
    Yellow: if players are equal
Red: if selected player is worse in that attribute (darker red for more difference)

I think the Transfer Centre should include an archive-section so you can look up players you have sold. Sometimes it can be interesting to see how they are doing in their new clubs and careers but as it is now, it is hard to find them in the game if you dont remember their name and what club you sold them to.

and can the press conferences stop going on about players playing against their former club (players youve sold obviously) like 4 seasons after you sold them??? would be much better

Have you tried "Transfer history" ?

It used to be like this in first CM's, until don't remember which one, IIRC. However, with those, you would lose the blue attributes for good ratings (16 and above). Sometimes these good ratings are only what matters. I don't know what I would prefer though, as it s been a while I haven't tried the old way.

I don't like this idea. I don't remember in what game I saw something like this, but I was lost sometimes in finding what I needed, plus game atmosphere was kind of "cold" and sad, and current display is CM/FM signature or trademark. There are things you should never change in FM I think and this one belongs to them .

Not sure if this has been mentioned or improved in fm11 , i find that in fm10 i was always having other clubs trying to offer contracts to my coaches? and it happened a lot ? dont know if this is realistic or not.

also when offering players to clubs it was very hard to get clubs from abroad to make offers? it would only be clubs from my own league.

This seems to be a much wanted "wish list" item that has also been through a thorough circulation of the forum members and has 3/4 for.

Would love for FM to bring in commentators. There are times when I play FM on a window and I have other stuff to do. How great would it be to be say doing work and listening to your game in the back ground? However will only work for certain speeds. Like say the middle 3/4 sliders and would take extensive work but something maybe in the long term.

Also, setting up exact training drills, 100's of options listed which are used in every day footballer's lives. setting up weekly schedules or monthly. Allowing you to concentrate on the way your team plays i.e. more possesion/shape pattern or high tempo 5-a-side games, where training influences how you play. or tasks for groups like strikers, go off to work finishing from crosses, one on one's etc....if people are confused and don't want too....just press "ask assistant" or chose a list of options such as.

    *possesion based sessions*
    *shape based sessions*
    *high physical sessions*
    *specific position sessions*
    *attacking sessions*
    *defensive sessions*

and it automatically fillls it out for you indefinately.

then after that, being able to watch training! (talking yeaaaaaaaaars on that though)

More managerial stats/attributes. More opinions on you, articles, fans opinions you can read.

Being able to fly over to countries at your financial expense to watch a player you can't see stats for.

Better print out formatting for statistics, tables, match recaps etc..............It would be nice to print out in color with the logo's.

Being able to play in commissioner mode would be helpful for playing a season as authentic as possible (controlling transfers to match real life transfers, rather then the game going haywire with unrealistic transfers in the January window).

It doesn't seem like the fans know when matches are irrelevant. Yes, it sucks we lost 3-1, but since it meant nothing, give me a break please.

Maybe this has improved since FM08 (the version I play), but SI really needs to do something about the match odds and match preview. The game really needs to take into account the relative league positions and forms of the two teams. It seems strange to see that I "face the impossible" with awkward odds for my team when my club actually is doing better than my opponent in the league.

I would like to see that you can sign specific coaches to help you develop the players

Would like it when you can sign sponsor contracts for the club or sell advertising space in newspapers or on the boards around the field, sell your corporate boxes to big company names

And I want to be able to also change the colours of the GK outfits, not just 2 colours green like now

so annoying, worse thing is that if u get a goal disallowed u usually go on to having a shed load of chances but u already know ur team wont score, which is very frustrating with the likes of rooney, dzeko and rossi in the attack

i think they should scrap the current interview set up as its predictable and boring, throw in some different questions please!!!, i no longer need to read anything and know which relevant boxes to tick.....also on match day the team talk options are limited and pretty naff....wheres the option to kick a footy boot at beckhams head if ur 3-0 down to bradford city in the carling cup...also when it comes to board summarys, why is it always an abberation to sell some players, i mean i sold berbatov and foster i should be commended not slaughtered....the latter of the 2 players felt he needed a new challenge after he won the quaddruple, i granted his wish and he's now playing 4 wolves in a relegation scrap. daft...... talking of the board why can't i confront my chairman when he's selling off my players that i want to keep, not to mention some players just wont sign at any costs....we all know football players are motivated by greed just look at tevez as an example, so why cant i sign relatively average players when i'm throwing 10 times the wage at a player who will then go on to choose a team of equal of lower status for peanuts wage when it aint a favoured team....bring back the whizzkid Mascio form fm2009 my man utd team just aint the same, rare to find a decent deadball specialist on fm2010

In the tactic section I'd like to have the possibility to place the players freely on the pitch instead of selecting predefined positions. Sure you can tweak the mentality and pressing settings, but some positions just can't be implemented like this. Accordingly a heat map in the match analysis would be great. That could really help adjusting mentality settings and spotting gaps in your formation

Free placement is an admirable aim but it will throw up so much ME grief that I think we are a long way off seeing this. As for heat maps, maybe you should check out the FM11 blogs or podcasts.

how about the opportunity to talk with the opposition manager after the game and establish a relationship? u often hear of ferguson and moyes talking for example, wenger and houllier are good friends

it would add a more realistic approach to the managers liking or disliking u

Another thing I'd like to see improved is pressing. Right now it's more or less about how fast a player is stepping out of position to attack the opponent if he's got the ball. To me it's more like an individual aggressiveness setting than pressing really. Pressing how I'd like to set it up would be more like several players moving towards the opponents player with the ball denying him space. It's not one individual stepping out to attack but a whole band of players tightening around the ball (and probably leaving a player on the far side of the pitch unmarked). I know this might be very difficult to simulate, but hey, just wishing

An annoying thing in the game is the lack of accuracy with goalkeepers, the squad status isn't good enough. The 2nd,3rd,... goalkeepers will be unhappy if you don't play them but in real life you don't see these goalkeepers going to the press and complaining about playing time, they know their role in the team.
the game should have a different squad status system for goalees so you could choose your 1st, 2nd,... goalee when signing a player instead of key player, first team, rotation,... .

One more feature I want is a list during the season for the current leaders in the run for the golden boot (of europe not a specific league which there is) its really annoying not knowing where your player chances stand. I am playing in the Israeli League and cristaldo is having an amazing season with 40 goals after 27 weeks (8 more to go). I know I need twice the goals of the rest beacuase it is the israeli league (hopefully the dynamic league in fm11 will solve this problem) but I know only the top scorers in england (loaded, playable) and spain (loaded, unplayable).

Wow, so many pages, a quick search never turned this up.

But I would like a team talk option:
"This is your chance to impress me."

Only appears when you have a player complaining about lack of matches.

Not a biggie, but one I would like.

Obviously a bit mad to say certain things now as release is close by but a couple of things I'd like to see

Similar to the news items a chance to decide what leagues we want active - I love playing in front of one man and his dog but to get to step 10 you need a super pc! Would be nice to select leagues above/below/parallel to be active and others in the backround (then depending on promotion / relegation change them)

A chance to discuss long term goals when negotiating a new contract, eg this season survive but in 5 years we will be in Premier League

Players asking for trials / to join you. Example in one save I found a player had been on a free transfer for 3 seasons - in reality that same player contacted and signed a short term deal for a non-league club to keep himself fit and put himself in the 'shop window'

But very much looking forward to the new game and the millions of posts re how hard it has been made etc etc etc

MOoe specific cup clauses in loan deals as the current all or noting system is not ideal, if I loan a player from a higher division or overseas I would like the option to play him in cup competitions that the parent club cannot enter & for any cups that we can both enter if the parent clubs is knocked out but my side bny some miracle are still in I'd also like the option to request that the player is then allowed to play in that competiton.

A very simple suggestion. In the team stats for a game - can total passes be added please. As i many recent football games - the past couple of years - the total passes for each side is often displayed on the screen. I feel it is very important and should be added.

After intensively playing FM 2010 I realised I still have a lot of ideas for future possibilities. But seeing as those ideas are never really fully functional when you`ve just received a new game and playing for merely a month, I only voice them once I have thought about it thoroughly. And hey, when`s the best time? When the next game is coming and the people at SI can start thinking about what they want to focus on for the next game - as Miles called it, the brainstorm sessions with the lottery of the 1500 ideas in the database

So here are a few of my suggestions to add to that database (more coming up, but I`m posting them step by step in order not to overflow the board, or the ones inputting it into the database, or even worse, me - for I do need time to read/revise and post them all :P).

    Backroom Staff Reports

    1. More extensive reports on how good a player is in comparison to other players in your team.

Right now the coaches and scouts tell us how good a player is and how good he is in comparison to our best alternative or best youth alternative.

A 4th best central midfielder is fine and all, but we never get told who the two above him are. It makes a squad rotation team hard, because you don`t know which players to select, or worse – to buy. Especially if the 2nd and 3rd best player are players who you have positioned on other positions of the field due to them playing better there and them being volatile. The fact that they play better than my possible signing on midfield might not even be anywhere interesting, since they are being played in a different position.

Also, the fact that they are ‘competent’ in the position of midfielder shouldn`t be the reason why they are being listed as ‘better’ in that position. It should be whether I want to position them there. Considering the game can`t read my mind and interpret that and I can`t imagine any ways to get around that except for a very complex way of combinations (how many times did the player play in that position; am I re-training him in that position; is he the automatic replacement if the first choice is being away/injured) I would say that a list of players the Assistant Manager considers best for that position would be a lot easier. Then we can look for ourselves what we deem appropriate.

So, more extensive reports in this region would be really appreciated. Perhaps an overview of all players capable of playing in that position, sorted by ability would be handy (perhaps even separated into CA and PA stars, like in the Assistant Manager view – dropdown option in the squad screen ). I believe the assistant manager should be able to tell me that in one of his team report screens. There is plenty of room in that screen, even on the 1024 x 768 resolution I use.

    2. More extensive recommendations on player roles

We get reports how a player is the 4th best midfielder in your team, on which I elaborated in point 1. But what I also would like to know is how that particular player (and the other 3 in my squad) play in the particular role I had in mind.

I don`t really need to know how good of a midfielder he is; if I am looking for a good box-to-box midfielder rather than an advanced playmaker, then I don`t have a need for another good advanced playmaker. I do need a good box-to-box midfielder and I don`t really care about how I have 3 players who are better midfielders, which are mostly suitable as advanced playmakers and completely not suitable as a box-to-box midfielder.

This suggestion could be integrated in the player report in the current ability part. Pointing out a particular role could be added to the strengths/weaknesses as well, as a good advanced playmaker could play badly in a role he isn`t suitable for. But then again, it could also be listed in the position part or the recommendation part. There is something to say for all of them, but nevertheless it would feel like an addition to me if it was added somewhere.

3 Back room advice on player roles

As an addition to point 2, it would be nice if there could be actual recommendations on which role (limited defender, deep lying playmaker) a player would excel in. I already noticed that assistant managers give recommendations for target men and playmakers, so this is one step further down that road.

Further down this road, I can see advice being given on how a player should be capable of becoming a ball-playing defender, but seeing his current ability, he should be playing the role of a limited defender right now.

    4. Specific technical staff advice

Why is the coach with a high tactical attribute giving me tactical suggestions? Why not the coach with the highest tactical knowledge attribute? Perhaps I misunderstand, but I believe that tactical knowledge is more looking at players and saying: “He should be doing more shooting from distance because he has the power to be a danger from distance.”, whereas a trainer with a high tactical attribute is more focused on whether he is carrying out his role as a ball-winning-midfielder properly, standing in the proper places and doing the things he is supposed to do from a tactical aspect, regardless of whether the player himself is capable of properly executing that role (a technical, low-strength player with no talent for tackling will never be a succesful ball-winning-midfielder, no matter how much or how good you train him in those aspects). But that aside …

What bothers me most is that there are coaches with low scores giving me advice.

Or even worse, why exactly is the coach with both the lowest tactical coaching attribute and lowest tactical knowledge attribute giving me a second opinion? I obviously don`t believe that second opinion because I don`t ever consider his tactical advice useful and if anything, I would prefer getting my second opinion from someone I do trust. Is it possible to separate those in a future version, so that you can pick a coach/AM to give you tactical analysis and suggestions, with a second opinion from the coach/AM who has the most knowledge to actually have a proper opinion?

And as such I get an advice You score the most goals between the 15th and de 30th minute. Why would another coach actually disagree with that? That doesn`t make sense.

This is one way to solve this problem. Another one would be the following idea:

    5. Backroom advice team meeting

As an alternative to the specific advice, you can also have a team meeting.

Right now you get advice from one coach or assistant manager concerning a particular (opponent) player with a second opinion from another staff member. Isn`t it possible to see it as a staff meeting, where one will raise an issue with a solution (for instance: mark midfielder X because he is far too dangerous. You should break up your central midfield when not having the ball in order to let one of your MCs stay with him at all times) and others will comment on that.

Perhaps a list of Yes/No decisions from your coaches would be enough already, but it can probably be nicely worded as well, knowing SI. This way you either have to look at which coaches you trust most on this aspect, or you need to have staff which are all at least good enough to consider this issue, so you only need to care about the majority votes.

    6. Send to specialist

I would prefer a financial indication how much each would cost, but perhaps it is possible to have at least some indication? I`m thinking of something like a comparison (sending to specialist would cost about 8 times more than leaving it to the physio) or perhaps an even more basic version (sending him to a specialist would cost more, but when leaving it to the physio the injury will be more likely to be recurring later in the season).

Nevertheless, the decision whether you will send a player to a specialist or leave him to the care of the physio leaves the manager fairly clueless as to what impact either one has on the player and the budget and only gives an indication of how quickly the player will return. Perhaps telling the manager where these costs go in the financial screen might also be useful for a few of us, so we can have a better feeling where our vague expenses are being used for.

Perhaps the cost can be told upon the player`s return? That way you have your player back and you politely receive the bill what it took to get him back this early.

Another option might be to split it up into more options. For instance:
    - Leave to physio (no cost, ease training, chance the injury might spontaneously recur later in the season)
    - Leave to doctor (cheap, longer time to assess the problem and player will take longer recuperating, no chance of injury recurring this season but might reappear next season, chance that doctor tells you a specialist is needed)
    - Leave to specialist (fairly expensive, short time to assess, better judgement of recuperation time, but takes a very long time to recuperate, no chance of injury recurring in at least one season – although very hard tackles can still initiate the same injury)
    - Hire temporary specialist (very, very expensive, long time of recuperation, no chance of injury recurring in at least one season – although very hard tackles can still initiate the same injury, might teach club physio what to do in these situations to speed up the return of the player)

    7. Physio specialisation

The above options made me realise that the physio is one underdeveloped member of the staff. So how about giving a physio a specialisation, or making him able to learn from a specialist? That can range from:

    - Allround physio
    - Small strains specialist
    - Torn muscles specialist
    - Broken bones specialist

Or whatever a physio can do more. I can imagine he can learn this from a specialist (chance to learn though), but he can also follow specialised courses to get more knowledge in order how to deal with specific injuries. It can take a few years before he graduates for the course, but I expect that in time most physios will actually become better at what they do due to better technology or information on particular injuries. Perhaps this progress will be dependant on their determination attribute or discipline, but I think it might be worth a shot to make the physio more than a guy who hangs around your team and tells you that someone is injured.

This way it makes also more sense to have more physios, since everyone has his own part to play. You might even consider a small strains specialist more of a masseur, since he generally knows better how to deal with strained muscles. A Broken bones specialist might therefore be more of a doctor too, but this way you don`t need to introduce new staff roles while still being able to give them a particular specialty.

    1. A stadium-builder in the editor. In that way people can make stadiums look like the real thing if they want to. I can imagine that SI hasn't got the time to make thousants of stadiums look like the real deal, so let enthousiasts do so, like is done now with kits etc. Stadium packs to be downloaded, but not just pictures. I would really like it. And as I often play at lower league clubs I think standless sides would make the expierience at that level more realistic. Most clubs only have a small main stand and nothing else.

    2. Stadium improvement in stead of just expansion. Roofs where there were none, seats where stands used to be. No space issues, far less cost, and more revenue as a result due to more expensive tickets. In FM10 I get the feeling only expansions are possible, and at great cost. It takes ages to get the club to expand the stadium, if at all.

    3. Not really important, but maybe a possibility to have a background-picture of the FM-stadium of whaterver club page you visit. Like background pictures, but then the stadium as it is shown in the 3d match, maybe from a distance or something.

    4. A better evaluation/judgement at the end of a season. Let's say you take on a challenge of stepping in 15 matches before the end of the season at a club in dire straits, cash strapped and 9 points clear of safety. Comments like "Brave manager X couldn't make evident relegation go away, but who could?" or "Manager X makes miracle happen! Club X stays in!". In that light an evaluation of your carreer at a club as you leave it would be nice. "Club X sad to see manager X leave. Manager X came to the club in xxxx saving them from eminent relegation. The following season he missed out on promotion in the playoffs after finishing Xth. He brought glory to the club in the xx-xx season winning division X and since then finished Xth, Xth and Xth. The cup run of xx-xx was memorable getting to the semis to be knocked out on penalty's to, having beaten PL side X on the way to the semi. Manager X has brought some great players to the club, player x being the most memorable. Manager X now joins higher reputation club X, saying he is sad to leave club X behind, but wants a new challenge and will think back fondly of club X". Something like that.

    5. Unrealistic signing-on fees (in lower league) must go. I just signed a player who demanded a signing on fee of € 4,-. Thats laughable off course.

    It's only a small wish:

I would like to rename new generated players. The names of Newgens are sometimes just unrealistic and the name pool is too small (At least for germany). If I could rename players it would be a better atmosphere.
In my safegame, there are 4 good players with the name "Karl-Heinz" in the german league. Only people at the age of 70 ore even older are called Karl-Heinz

Here is the second batch of ideas:

    Youths

    8. Youth reports

I have never fully understood the reason why we have youth trainers. Surely they can do more than merely training a particular part of the team, being focused on the youngsters. The same goes for the Assistant Manager/coach coaching them during matches.

What I expect of them is that they will tell me that a youngster has been making progress so well that he won`t progress any further unless he is called up to gain experience in the first team squad. Or that he is good enough already to play a part in your first team. That is what I expect from a youth coach, or a coach/assistant manager who is managing the youth teams.

Instead, I get reports that player X played remarkably well in the past match. Well, that`s nice, but everyone can have a good day, or a bad opponent. And usually when I go visit the player report, it tells me that the player isn`t good enough for my first team, which is usually pretty obvious considering he is a youth player and not a first team player. Most youths don`t get to your first team anyway, so the only times I need to be pointed out that a youth player is doing well, is when he is actually doing well enough that even the (youth) coach believes that I should take a look at him.

Perhaps a news item about how a youth coach has informed you that he decided to rewrite his report about a youngster, because the youngster is showing more potential than initially thought would be a nice touch. Or perhaps a youth coach has informed you about a young defender who shouldn`t be good enough for the first team, but is currently in such a good shape that he has an average of 8.3 in 4 games, scoring 2 goals. This performance led the youth coach to believe he might be a good addition to be a backup to the first team, should you need one.

Two additions are needed here: the fact that a youth player is getting good enough to be considered first team play, or that the player needs first team play to advance further. The latter can also be interpreted as needing a loan move in order to progress further, perhaps even with a league recommendation where a player of his ability should be going to in order to get a first team position.

    9. Tutoring: The student and the tutor

It would be great if we could have more (or at least more distinctive) options in the tutoring program. The three options we have available (role model; approach to the game; learning from have been disclosed as pretty much similar in effect. First of all I don`t see the real meaning of having three options doing all the same, but I cannot imagine this was meant to be. So let`s evaluate it to see how we can make things more effective.

I`m thinking of a few particular options:
    - to only learn the personal moves from a particular player
    - to adjust his personality
    - to increase his mental attributes through experience from training with his tutor
    - and perhaps one which merely focuses on tutoring his practical skills like dribbling.

I can imagine how a young player could see how his tutor makes a particular dribble and tries to copy that, for instance, always making a fake movement to the right in order to move to the left. We all know Robben has such a particular move which is pretty succesful, so why won`t there be players who can exploit that same movement if they have the skills to learn it?

Of course there is always a factor which determines whether or not it will succeed. Whether it depends on a player`s personality, his technical prowess, volatility or his PA – it can all be linked, but I`m not sure what should work. I do believe that personality should be the most successive factor for breaking off a tutoring. A very ambitious youngster being tutored by an unambitious tutor probably ignites a bad relationship and the other way around probably results in a very disappointed tutor.

Nevertheless I believe that it is sometimes not possible to pick up only one part, since you work with someone for a longer time; if you match your personality there is always a chance that you also pick up one or two other aspects, albeit not that easily. For instance, a player you try to adjust his personality from, might inadvertantly also pick up a personal move, or becomes more (or less) determined as a side-effect. I do, however, feel that there should still be a chance factor of whether or not he picks up more than what he is asked to pick up. So sometimes you`re lucky that he picked up something extra, sometimes you`re unlucky that he picked up something extra.

On the other hand it would also be beneficial for the tutor himself, seeing how his influence might go up if he`s doing the tutoring well and if he ever becomes a coach, the number of successful tutorsessions might improve his working with youngsters attribute in some way. Next to that I believe a few (hidden?) stats would also be useful to determine whether tutoring will succeed or not. Right now it feels like the tutor acceptation is far too random, when a player was happily learning from tutor X on his first tutoring session, only to find himself unable to work with a player with such a different personality with that same tutor X on a second tutoring session.

    10. Youth coaches and youth generation

Right now it is based on reputation, luck and facilities how many and how good your youth players are who are promoted to your U18s. It would be nice if youth coaches could also have a factor in that, seeing how they are able to develop youngsters even before they are good enough for your U18s.

If you want to narrow it down, you could get to the following (note that all of the below still has a chance factor):
    - Better CA with better youth coaches.
    - Better mentality with determined/disciplinary youth coaches
    - Better PA with better reputation
    - Better CA due to youth facilities.
    - More attribute growth with better/more youth coaches

I would also like to see youth reports from the youth coaches. While now we get one report at the start of the season about which players are promoted, but I feel that`s fairly limited. How about a report from a youth coach who delivers you a list of 20 players where you can pick whoever you want to promote to the U18s? Or else a report about how young talent (10-12 years old) seems to have improved, so you can expect more talented youngsters coming to your U18s in about 3-5 years time? Now that`s what I call future planning ;)

    11. Experience should count

Right now it feels like experience doesn`t really add much to a team, or a player. Perhaps he makes a few less costly mistakes (perhaps more consistent?), but generally it doesn`t feel like you have a real advantage when signing older players. It rather feels like a disadvantage, considering the high wages and the more injury prone players.

Is it possible to have a few particular additions to more experienced players? Say, a carrying ability, to rally the other players into playing better if they`re doing badly? Or perhaps having an influence in attribute progression towards younger players in the first team?

He might have a calming influence in the squad, which expresses itself by nervous players feeling much more at ease, or perhaps he can influence a squad to be more professional – rather than having to tutor a specific player to gain this treat. Seeing how they are also often named captain, they generally seem to benefit a young team, if only by reputation. I can easily imagine a young team being much more enthusiastic due to an ex-international joining their team and therefore trying harder.

On the other hand you also have players who feel better than others, becoming an effectively disruptor in the dressing room, but that might be due to a personality trait. After all, some young players tend to have this as well.

    Scouting

    12. Multiple Scout reports

If two scouts have scouted a player, it would be nice to see both of their opinions in the same screen. I recall having seen something in earlier FMs where you could see that ‘scout X believes he`s a good player for most Eredivisie sides, but scout Y believes he`s a leading star for most Eredivisie sides’, which was far more interesting considering you want a player to be scouted thoroughly if he`s expensive. And then one scout is not always convincing enough.

There is also a limitation to having a player being scouted by one scout. Is it possible to remove that limitation so that you can send a scout to check out the player and being able to send another scout to go along with him so that you can get 2 different opinions on a potential signing? Right now you have to wait until scout 1 has finished his scouting of that player before you can get another scout to go see him and that doesn`t make much sense. Oftentimes there are cases where you want to send over several scouts to make sure that it doesn`t depend on just one opinion, especially if there`s a hefty transfer sum involved. It would at least make the interview comment we have done everything we can in our power to ensure that this is a good signing more true.

    13. Scout reports for natural position

If a player can play in 4 positions, the scout only tells you where he`s playing best. He doesn`t tell you how well he`s playing in the other 3 positions, only in the next best one. I would like to know how well he plays as a left midfielder, because I don`t have one. I couldn`t care less about how good he is as a central and right midfielder. It might be he`s a better player there, but I am looking for someone who plays left midfielder. So, how good is he on the left? But the scout never tells me that.

When I have a coach, I can use the dropdown box to see how well he plays in those positions. I would like to see that in a scout report as well, if possible. It would be even better if a scout could tell me in which role (limited defender, ball playing defender) he plays at his current team, or in which roles he believes the player should be playing. The tactical or tactical knowledge attribute in a scout would then make the scout a whole lot more interesting.

    14. Scouting / Role Profile

When a player is scouted, it would be nice if there is a dropdownbox available to select roles the player can adopt. That way you can see which attributes are important if you want to sign a new deep lying playmaker. Now I have to go to my own tactics screen, write down which are the main attributes and then compare them to the scouted player. That`s very inconvenient and in my opinion you want to sign a player you need, not a clone of a player you already have.

In the tactics-screen you can see the important attributes being highlighted. It would be greatly appreciated if that would also be available for the report-screens.

    15. Scouting Achievements

When I have to renew the contract of a scout, I generally like to know how well he has performed. Sure I have plenty of his recommendations on my shortlist, but what really determines the quality of a scout is how many players he has found which ended up as first team players in either my or similar teams, or what my coaches believe to be a real gem. Is it possible to have a list of players who he has found and which I have signed, or more importantly, have actually debuted in my team?

On the other hand, it would be nice if a scout can have a sort of achievement list. That way you can determine which major signings/transfers a player has made based on the recommendations of a particular scout. Player relationships with scouts could also be a nice thing, if a player is playing in a team without much coverage has been scouted and because of that gains popularity and gets to play for a big team or the national team eventually. I can imagine a player being pretty thankful for the scout who found him back in the 15th division reserves ;)

This can also be part of a player history. For instance, a youth player who has been playing in the Blue Square South has been spotted by some scout in League One. There he debuts and leaves a huge impression, which gets him a transfer to, say, Liverpool, from where eventually he will be called up for the national team. It would be nice if the two scouts from League One and Liverpool would be on the list of ‘Been scouted by’.

After all, the same happens with players who are called up to the national team; oftentimes (in-game) they have the manager of the national team as favorite personnel.

    16. Scout report for players on loan at another team / included in national team

It`s all nice and good that you have a scout tracking players on loan at another club (or the national team), but what reports do you get back?

He did well, setting up a goal before being substituted.
    or
He was doing fairly well and won several headers to continue the momentum of his team.

Now, that`s nice. But except for a short summary of how he contributed to the game it still doesn`t tell me anything about my player and how he played. In fact, I still need to request the game report to actually see his final rating. Isn`t it possible to expand these reports so it tells me more about my player? For instance:
    - What were his ratings at half time and full time?
    - How well did he perform in comparison to other players in his team on the pitch playing in a similar position?
    - How well did the player perform he was supposedly marking?
    - What`s his form? If you`re sending him away for not being fit, how fit is he now and can you use him?
    - Did he create chances, or did he need others to create them for him? And did he apply them? What kind of chances does he create?
    - Could he handle the pressure of being in the first team, or did he suffer from other players/fans expecting too much from him?
    - How far away is he from being capable of playing in my first team, based on his performances in the loan team/national team?

    Manager Interaction (International)

The manager should be able to convince a player to change his allegiance (when has dual passport), to return from retirement or apply for a passport for the country they are playing at.

This would be in my head a set of options and the following questions

    1) I the manager would like you to come into/come back to the international fold as you would be
    a) An important first team player
    b) A good influence to younger players
    c) A back-up player

    2) I see you in my international squad for
    a) A long time
    b) At least the rest of this campaign
    c) Until the player who normally plays is back.

    Board and Club personality

    17. Expectation Management

Instead of getting a list of things the board wants you to achieve, I believe it should be allowed to converse with them. Just because you managed to finish 9th this time doesn`t mean you can do the same when your three key players leave while you don`t get more money for wages or an increase in your transfer budget. So there is absolutely no reason why you should be only able to choose between ‘Top half finish’, ‘European qualification’, ‘Top 3’ and ‘Winner’. You should also be able to say:

    - ‘Hell no, I`ll finish 12th because my best players have left the team’.
    - ‘Without any wage budget increases, I won`t be able to attract players who can help us finish in the top half’.
    - ‘This is a fluke! Last year you finished 17th and barely avoided relegation with these lot. I can only promise a 14th place’.
    - ‘I will need more transfer money so I can buy a player who can inforce the team if you want me to finish 9th’.

Something along these lines should be allowed, especially if you`re overachieving because of luck or other teams having bad luck.

Another way of expectation management would be long term planning. If you say that you want to make the club from a regular 10-12 spot to a 7-8 spot in 3 years time, you do need a wage budget increase.

Or you can promise to cut costs by promoting more youngsters in order to get a more healthy balance, but in order to achieve that, you want them to improve the youth training facilities first, because otherwise there won`t be any quality coming through the ranks and you can`t use them in the first team.

    So a few examples:

    - ‘I think we should be focusing on youth. That means less wages, less expenses and more money for key players’.
    - ‘We have a lot of debt. I feel it would be better to get rid of the debt and underachieve a year or two. I think a 14th place would still be possible if we cut our costs’.
    - ‘We have a lot of talent in our youth team, so how about we let a few of them play and finish 12th instead of 10th’.
    - ‘If I spend none of my transfer budget, we can try to buy the stadium after a few years’.

This can be improved anyway, since the expectations from the board are often unreasonable. If you are promoted from the Blue Square South, it doesn`t make sense that the board expects you to gain promotion from the Blue Square Premier in the next year as well. The same goes for qualifying for a European competition, despite it not even being listed in your expectations. However, the next year they will ask you to qualify for a European competition again and possibly even require you to get a round further as well. That`s pretty tough if you`re regular mid-table achiever and only managed to climb this high because the other teams were doing worse than usual.

Another part of expectation management is that when the local newspaper team plays against Arsenal and lose with 8-1, the fans of the newspaper team aren`t devastated – like it is in FM 2010. In fact, they are happy that they kept Arsenal from winning with double digits instead. So perhaps you can make it a bit more flexible; next to the bookies, fans can also voice their expectations (albeit colored) and in interviews you can give a guess how the score will be at the end of the match rather than ‘We`re not going to win this’. It would certainly lower the expectations if you tell the media that you expect to swallow 6 goals and not scoring any, rather than simply saying you`re not going to win.

    18. Chairman / Club Policy

After understanding Chairman attributes are out of the picture, I would like to see at least a sort of a club policy. For instance, the board are a huge fan of youngsters, so they are more eager to allow you to improve your youth facilities if you would actually play them. They will, however, be much more defensive in expensive transfers.

A board might also have a tendency to look towards, say, Brazilian players because they believe they do well in your club and try to find you a promising feeder club by helping them financially with training facilities or coaching courses to improve their training effectiveness. They will be a lot less eager to find you a feeder club in Argentina instead, because they believe for the expensive feeder club costs they should only focus on Brazil. They will, however, allow you to have a feeder club in neighbouring countries, but only for regular loan/first option deals.

A club policy can also be that they prefer buying good players instead of focusing on youth squads. A 23 year old can already be a good player and if he shows enough promise, he can be slotted into the first team right away and produce results. These kind of clubs are often less patient with results and can be found either at the top of a competition or at the bottom, in order to avoid relegation. They will also try to sign older out of contract players who are still good enough and are able to lead the team.

Another example of club policy is that they scout for talent and quickly try to sell them to high profile teams in the league. They might therefore insist on having a clause in the contract where they will earn a 20% profit from the next fee, or might settle for a higher initial fee instead.

Another one is that the club wants to have a reputation of having local players in order to get fans to identify with the team, rather than having an all-star team from all over the world and playing in a higher competition. I can imagine a board asking you to try to find players from your own country instead of filling it with foreigners.

There are also other aspects than ‘merely’ transfers. What about the fans who prefer the team playing 4-3-3 since that has always been successfull (think: Ajax), or teams which are proud to be nearly unbeatable when playing at home, even despite their away-form being pathetic most of the time. Or what to think of a board who would love the team to become professional rather than amateur or semi-pro? They will help you out in all kind of ways in order to get that status.

In a more Policy vs Expectation Management theme, one can also imagine that the board is ambitious and since you`re somewhere in the Blue Square South, they want you to get them to the Blue Square Premier and you get three years to do so. If you achieve promotion, they will shower you with love and happiness, but they will also want to see results to see that you can maintain your stature. Of course, they still need to be realistic and not expect you to steam up to League 2 as well within a few years; I mean, how often does that happen?

I also had the suggestion for being capable of requesting more coaches/scouts, but as far as I have read it is already in FM 2011.

    19. Fans` favorite

There are always players playing in a team which are real legends, favorites or whatever. Fans will therefore always demand that a particular player (for instance, the one listed on the legends or icons) will play. If he doesn`t play for unknown reasons the fans will ask questions to the manager, which can be reflected in interviews or in a face-to-face conversation with the spokesperson.

If you are not doing well with the particular player, fans might stick up for the player instead and demand your head instead.

    20. Rivals

It would be nice if you could ‘create’ rivals. I understand that ‘real’ (fierce) rivals are hard to define, but ‘sportive rivals’ are more easy to determine. If you are in a league where you always lose to a particular team despite them not being better than you, you get to feel a little anxious when you face them and you will try to finally win someday. Or when you aim for promotion and you always get kicked out by the same team.

Perhaps it will be a good idea to keep track of statistics and during interviews you can get the question whether you feel the other team is a sort of rival due to all the important games you lost to them, or when the team has prevented your promotion or championship title for the third time. I don`t think these kind of rivalries will happen overnight, but when you`re in the game for a few years then you should be able to see some results; a few nasty comments here and there, the manager being more eager to play mind-games than a few years ago, interviewers asking you about the upcoming match giving off a tense feeling and so on.

The same goes for managers; if time passes, other managers will not hold a grudge against you if you don`t play against them, but the opposite should be true. A manager who dislikes another manager will keep feeling that way even if they both switch teams and don`t play each other for years.

    21. Staff signings

Why is there no huge media coverage when a major ex-international signs for your team as a staff member? I can`t imagine that there are no headlines or even fan expectations when I sign Wayne Rooney or Sol Campbell as a coach for my Blue Square Premier team.

I would also expect that it would up my Club Stature by signing several well known ex-players, even despite my results – simply because my staff would consist of people with a continental or worldwide reputation. The board should be praising me for getting a high profile name to the team. And fans would love me for getting their favorite international player to be a coach at their favorite team.

I can also imagine how youngsters who are not yet ready for my U18 team would suddenly get them as favorite personnel due to them being trained face to face by a legendary football player and when they get promoted to the U18s, this will be reflected by their favorite personnel.

Also, the fact that a player is being coached/tutored by a well known player could have a boost in their progression. After all, you are more motivated to train well if you get praised by Lionel Messi than any random John Smith who had a decent reputation in the Blue Square Premier.

The option to introduce & make public a self imposed salary cap, whenever I play FM I will decide at the start of the season teh maximux that I'm willing to play for a player & in the current game this can work against me if I sell a player who wants a wage above that limit as I cannot articulate the reason to the media & fans.

Just to put both researched ideas in the same thread. The difference with these ideas is they have been put out to the populous and have been heavily supported by votes from the community. Unlike most posts which are just other single people's wishes etc. These two are heavily supported by in both cases at least 3/4 of the voters.

    Match Experience

    22. Injuries

During the game it would be nice if we can get updates concerning injured players, or players with a knock. What kind of injury they have (if to be determined without looking further into) and whether it would be wise to keep him on the field. After all, keeping an injured player on the field might worsen the injury. But also people with a pulled hamstring, why are they still capable of playing? After the match I see them being diagnosticed with that injury while I still see them sprint and outrunning defenders in order to score. That shouldn`t happen much.

Getting a report during half-time would be a great improvement, or while the player is being treated outside the field. I`m thinking like a pop-up-window (kind of like how the assistant manager-window or the morale-window in the match is being treated, although this one needs to pop up without you needing it to be opened), or perhaps integrated into the match comments (different color perhaps?)

    23. Team Talk (half-time / full-time)

I would like a few more options here. For instance:

    - ‘Good job, but damn you for picking up that yellow card when we lead with 3 goals’.
    - ‘Played well offensively, but you completely forgot about our defenses and now we got 2 goals against us and they evened the score’.
    - ‘You`ve been sent off, you moron! How does that help us in winning the match?’

The current ‘delighted’, ‘good job’, ‘poor performance’, ‘angry’ is not always what you`re looking for. Perhaps it`s merely cosmetics and the effect being the same as the current options, but it would certainly add to the match experience.

Also, perhaps during this time, but also possible after the match it would be nice if you can have some interaction regarding substituting someone. I`m summing up a list of possible options here:
    - ‘You have picked up a knock and I`m afraid it`ll worsen your ability’.
    - ‘Good job, but I`m taking you off the pitch because I`ll need you fully fit in the upcoming match’.
    - ‘You`ve picked up a yellow card and the referee looks like a hawk when you approach the ball. So before the ref sends you to the showers, I`ll take you off the field before that happens’.

    24. Post Match

Other than the team talk, these kind of comments could also end up in the post-match.

For instance, you can give a player interaction with something like a ‘post match comment’, like you can give to a manager. An important player who picked up a yellow card in the 90th minute while the person being fouled wasn`t in any position to threaten the match result, resulting in a ban for the next match against the #1 rival; I`m sure that any manager would love to have a talk with him about that.

After the match it would also be nice if you could comment on the rough play of an opponent, perhaps based on the number of yellow and red cards the team picked up. Of course, you can receive the same comment as well, perhaps even resulting in you (and your team) building up a reputation for rough play.

We always have had the ability to comment on the referee, effectively doing either nothing or landing you a ban. Why is that? If it can only result in a negative result, why have it in the first place? If you insist in keeping it around, how about you building up a reputation for being a critic or your team being (not) favoured due to reputation.

    25. Offsides

Building upon the decisions the referee makes, let`s focus a bit on the offside-trap.

It often happens that players complain about goals being made from an offside position. Currently you either have to swallow your comments or make a statement pretty much based on a hunch and possibly rewinding your live screen to see if you`re right. Is it possible to get the well known red line from tv analysis to show up in the match screen? That way you can see if the player really was offside and base your opinion on that. It also makes your statement more true if you can actually find evidence that the player was or wasn`t offside when the ball was played.

Edit: Already implemented in FM 2011, so apparently it was a good idea ;)

    26. Ratings

What I realised was that pretty much every player on the pitch always has a good (6+) rating after the game. In reality, players who don`t play well are usually substituted and never get a rating above a 6 from newspapers and such. But even players who play only mediocre get much lower ratings which are by far not as high as in FM. With that I don`t mean that newspapers and magazines are doing such a fine job in rating players, I just mean to say that players who are playing averagely or even below average in FM are still getting relatively high ratings.

Is it possible to tune down the ratings a bit for players who play averagely?

Generally one starts off the match with a 6.3 to a 6.5, if I`m not mistaken, and as long as he doesn`t make any major errors but neither makes really good actions, he stays like that. If the team plays well, but a particular player still doesn`t play well, he sticks on a 6.9 as well.

Isn`t it more realistic to give him something between a 5.5 and a 6 instead, so we can see that he hasn`t made an impression at all? Errors are often used to drop his rating, but that shouldn`t be the only way to downgrade a player. Simply doing less than what we expect from a player is, in my opinion, also a reason for not giving him a good rating. And in my personal opinion a 6.5 is not ‘averagely’, but ‘better than average’. A 5.5 would be ‘average’, not a 6.5.

If a player doesn`t have anything to do but the most basic aspects, there is little to judge him by. If he doesn`t make any errors, good for him, but if you`re playing against an opponent you should be winning from, it would be fair to assume that he also have some actions which actually help you play better.

If you aim for a 0-0 stalemate, I can imagine that you want your defense to be immobile and just trying to keep anything away. If the defenders get three balls total which they have to scramble away, they will not have done well – they have done as expected. They also never managed to give a good pass to your midfielders though, which they can also be judged on. But if you face a team with 10 men behind the ball, it would make sense that your backs would take a bit more risks, overlapping your wingers, considering your 2 central defenders can cope with the only striker. If the striker never gets a good ball due to proper marking or positioning, or constantly strays offside, it means bonus points for the defenders for effectively cancelling out any attacks from the striker.

My goalkeeper was consistently giving me ratings between 6.5 and 6.9, but since I lost 6 matches in a row due to lousy defending and swapping defenders did nothing to improve that, I eventually decided to take out the goalkeeper and all of a sudden my team started to win again. When I criticised him, I got the reply that he was surprised that I wasn`t harsher with him considering he was in such a bad shape. How can I notice that if he`s consistently giving me above average ratings? And with him having to pick 3 to 5 balls out of the net in each match, I felt like a 6.9 meant he was doing a terrific job by keeping more balls out instead of a lousy one.

Defenders complaining about the keeper may also be helping to spot this, because players often become disgruntled if the communication fails and that causes clashes.

A highly regarded player who came trotting in for a large fee, but hardly playing, or only getting average ratings would also get criticised much more from the fans than what I see now. As long as a player gets those average marks, the fans are simply pleased, which is very unlikely. And he gets them regardless of how he plays, as long as the rest of the team plays fine.

I'd like to see an option NOT to kick the ball out when a player is injured. I had a case the other day where a player was through on goal with only keeper to beat, but then turned and booted the ball into touch so that an opposition player could get treated! This happens for every injury whethere slight or serious.

No, this actually depends on the Sportsmanship attribute of the player with the ball. If you don't want them to do this, buy unsporting players.

I'd pay at least £10 more when buying the game to have all the badges and photos included, to be honest.

    Hello to eveyone.

I don't know if these idea have been talk about, but here it goes:

the possibility to talk in the press about a player i think deserve a place in a national team. for examples...."I think Benfica's Carlos Martins deserve a first team place in Portugal National team". These kind of comments could lead to further comments with the national manager. And of course if Carlos Martins plays in the next national team game, he would be happy with you.

I would like countries like Serbia, Montenegro etc to join the European Union after some time at like 2014 or in some games 2017 or in some games never as this is a more accurate reflection of real life.

That you can have your own favoured players. If you have a top top player you can make him favoured.

I would like to see more interest for my services from other clubs. Only when I'm top of a league I get an occasional job-offer, but it seems realistic that higher-reputation clubs see my achievements at a cash-strapped club and think "hmm, that guy knows what he's doing. He can probably do it at a higher level also", a club in relegation battle saw me lift a club out of that misery and would like to offer me that challenge, that kind of thing. Or maybe even een lower reputation club with ambition for higher things (eg after a takover) might want to tempt a higher rep manager (like myself) into taking charge there to achieve these ambitions. Let them take that chance with me, I would like offers from lower-rep or similar-rep clubs. Especially when my contract runs out, I would like to have offers come in for the next season. Seems realistic to me.

What I have seen from FM10 the job offers are sparse and only occur when you get a team promoted or do really well. This makes leaving a club for greener (or different-) pastures very hard as you have to apply for jobs in the knowledge that it makes your position at your current club insecure and you can't be sure the target-club wants you or not. Now a job always ends in a quarrel or as a jobless coach.

Agreements with clubs - You choose not to pursue Galeano if the opposition chooses not to pursue Toloi (as an FM11 reference), if they then bid for Toloi, then all hell would break loose (you bid, you hate the manager etc)

Assistant valuations - your ass man could tell you if that 15m bid for a future regen with 2.5* potential is worth it, or merely someone trying to rip you off (helps with the regens, especially those that the AI are interested in at a young age)

The second team line-up (ass man reports) = WHY WAS THIS REMOVED!? - I want to see whether my assistant thinks that Wilshere is more than capable of stepping up, or whether i should go for a better prospect (this was in 05 and maybe 06, but was removed in later editions)

More variety in transfers - EVERY game, Man Utd sign Situ, Chelsea sign Miranda (and Neymar).... where's the variety? - If chelsea signed a DC in the game, then i wouldn't be shocked, but Miranda every single time (especially with Toloi, Galeano and others all cheaper)

Language barrier - When joining a new club in a new country (say i went to Brazil), then i should have the option of saying "Not an issue. I am taking [language here] classes until i can understand this language" - as well as the fact that we cannot set languages when we start... i know people that can speak Japanese, but has no background of Japanese within them, surely a language setting would be suffice (although a limit of about 3/4 would be enough)

Rivals - should be able to get them in the game.... you make a tasty challenge and continually degrade their manager, then eventually you should become rivals (Chelsea and Barcelona anyone... pre Mourinho - nothing)

Transfers (part 2) - AI teams should buy players on their form, rather than their reputation... too often i've seen a guy have an average rating over 7 to be ignored by teams just becasue his rep is low (Betis eventually took him for 3m)... whereas i've seen players go to other clubs for ratings of less than 6.5 (remembers some regen going from Barcelona-Inter-Real Madrid -Juventus - Barcelona all within about a 10 year period)

The reason for this is that the demo is a quickstart - essentially everyone is playing from the same starting savegame. That means that the manager shortlists, which are created when the game is first created, will be identical. This won't happen in the full game when you are actually starting the game from scratch.

When I play on the desktop pc (1680x1050), I love to have a lot of gadgets open in the 3d view, as I like to know my players rating, motivation, the opponent formation, and sometimes, the live table. I put all the gadgets at the bottom of the screen, and they rarely block the match view.

The problem is that I can't do that when I play in the notebook (1366x768) because the resolution is too small. I have to keep pausing the game, opening the gadgets, and then closing them, and restarting the game.

It would be awesome, to auto show/hide the gadgets when you pause the game, or have a key combination to do that.

Also, it would be good, that when you minimize the gadgets, they would go to the bottom of the screen, and when maximized they would go back to it's position.

Add 'Minimum fee release clause' to the options for customised squad view. Hate to be going thru every single player just to see if they have a low fee that can be exploited by other clubs. Especially now that more agents will not back down on their MFRCs in contract demands.

I've put this in the wishlist every year since the 'view only' option started. I want the ability to split a countries leagues with playable an view only.

Like having Championship and Premier League as playable, and League 1 and below view only.

I usually have the top 2 leagues of a few countries as playable and several surrounding countries as view only. It seems strange that I can see all these lower leagues of small countries but can't see the English, Italian and Spanish lower leagues because I only wanted the top 2 as playable. Plus we could follow loaned players and feeder clubs better.

This has probably been mentioned before, but here goes. I wan't to be able to inject more backstory on my manager. Maybe even a fake history for where he played and how he is liked by team X and Y or something like that. I mean if i start my manager as a international footballer we still have no idea what position he played in and for what teams.

I would like to see SI give us the ability to take training sessions just like our coaching staff, afterall this is Football Manager. Im sure many of you can name a dozen or more managers in real life that are down on the training pitch all over the world coaching there players week in week out, yet for whatever reasons once we create our " Manager " in the game we are still unable to assign our Manager to a training session. Which brings up the subject isn't it about time that our Manager that we have created have coaching stats, ie Fitness, Defending, Shooting etc just like all the staff in this game, but these stats should start at zero. I can hear some asking why zero, well, isn't about time also SI brought into the game the ability to take coaching badges for our created Manager to earn his or her coaching stats in the different coaching areas Ball Control, Tactics etc.
Each coaching area could have 4 badges, completing lvl would bring you to 5 in that area, lvl 2 would bring you to 10 in that area, lvl 3 would bring you to 15 in that area and lvl 4 would bring you to 20 in that area. Now these badges should have a cost for taking them ie lvl 1 badges £1,000.00 lvl 2 badges £2,500.00 lvl 3 badges £5,000.00 lvl 4 badges £10,000.00 which we could pay from the wages that we earn, isn't it time we made use of the money from our career earnings. Which brings me to my last proposal, give us the ability to donate money that we as a Manager have earned to the Football club we are the Manager of. Many real life Managers in the past have bought a player for there club due to the club being skint, this act from a few real life Managers were as a donation to there clubs it would be nice to have the same ability.

    Reason:

If I'm choosing which players are to be available for the reserves, I'd like to be able to filter out the injured players and those that aren't at the club, but still see the players that are suspended from the first team to allow me to make them available for the reserves.

Also an "Invert filter" checkbox wouldn't go amiss.

A 'Ask manager' option when assigning player roles and duty and also an indicator and some statistics to tell us how effective the player is when playing the assigned role, how many goals he scored in that role, his average rating in that role, etc. Also, have specialized training for each player role.

I think that this game is awesome and the new features are amazing too. But i have got idea, i wanted to buy a player from Hull city and loan him back to the team again but you can not do that on FM11 and i thought it would be a good idea to have it in the game has a new feature.

I would like to see attribute masking to be taken one step further. I think that we shouldn't be able to fully see the attributes of players outside our team regardless of the reputation of the player. Perhaps we can add like a +/- to the attribute (reflecting that the real number is around there.) or a confidence factor on how certain your scouts are of the attributes. It's a hard thing to implement but I bring this up because I think most of us would agree that it's not that hard to find and buy great players in the game, and I think that something like what I just mentioned makes buying players more of a gamble, like IRL.

My feature request of the day is loading a game during match play. Yes, I do want to abandon and replay a match! I'm trying all kind of stuff, but keep going under with a big score and I'm starting to wonder if tactics matter at all
Anyway, I guess it is left out for political reasons which is extremely childish.

I know this has probably been suggested many a atime before but I think there is a need to have an option to have your assistant manager be in charge of a friendly for the first team but allow you to pick the squad to be available for that match.

I'm currently managing a team that does not have a reserve squad and it seems I am limited to picking the team and then holidaying to force him to do so.

I know people will say I can just run the match myself but I play on full detail and it takes me long enough to get through weeks as it is without regular friendlies.

It would just be nice iof there was an option, but I am willing to listen to good reasons why there shouldn't be. I do realise the realism implications of it.

A shortlist for staff. I would like to be able to have a list of staff that I am interested in signing. For example I am interested in signing Paul Whisper as a fitness coach but would like to check other coaches first I would have to remember or write down each one by name other wise I have no record. If I tried to sign a member of staff and it fails the only place I can go to is staff search and remember their name or scroll down my list of news/messages until I find them again. A shortlist would make things a lot easier.

A staff compare facility for comparing a two members of staffs stats would be geart too in choosing which person to sign. Other wise I have to keep switching between them (which you have to keep finding them on search. Where as a shortlist would have them right next to each other.) to compare their stats, age etc

In fairness, I had a player on FM10 who I'd even tried to sell a couple of times without success, played him in very few games a season, but he still stayed with me till he retired. Said he wanted to end his career there, after moving at 17 years old.

    Also, add managers hometown.

I'd like a new financial board request: "Pay off loan". If your club is in a very healthy financial state and you've got a huge long term loan for a stadium or whatever, you should be able to pay it off early (even if this includes interest).

I'd like them to re-release FM11 next year but without all the bugs... Just change the cover of the dvd/steam and that's good to go(with the adition of 4 extra new patches)... All the transfer bugs (that doesn't seem to be taken serious), the huge amount of yellow/red cards despite the team NOT playing with aggressive tackles, etc. Every year is the same thing because you're simply too rash on releasing a game that only becomes playable by the 3rd patch.

So, for the record, i have 2 ideas.
First idea, get a new team of developers to start making the new FM12 (so you can have the demo released by January and have it fully playable on November 2012), while the ones that "developed" (was going to mock them now but thought I shouldn't... lol) FM2011 should be punished by not sleeping until they solve all the serious problems that remain on this year's game (even though there are already 2 patches released  ), which would mean they would be dead after 72 hours (apparently humans can't survive more than that without sleeping) and would make a good example for the developers team in charge of next year's game. Guess it would be the first one, close to being bugs free, being released lol

2nd idea, start hearing what the people that play FM have to say about things because the success won't last forever if you keep releasing unplayable games like this one. This must be the first year that I actually thought about returning the game as I'm not enjoying it at all and simply waiting for the next 2 patches to come out before installing it again. (Yeah, i have uninstalled it...)

PS: FM 2012 had everything to be considered the best FM released but due to the bugs I consider it to be one of the worst released so far (and i'm including the previous CM series...).

I'd like to see a realistic career option at game setup of 30 years where you begin your management career at 35 years of age and it automatically finishes when you're 65. Your 30 year career can then be assessed by managerial points accrued over that time period before the game automatically retires you. The challenge for you next time would be then to try and better your best previous career total points. This is more realistic than being able to play on endlessly until you win everything.
Personaly it doesnt matter to me whether I win everything or not..I just like to do as well as I can. If Im struggling then thats part of the game. If the game was too easy I wouldnt be interested in playing the game anyway. The harder the challenge the more I enjoy the game.
SI could always leave in the option to play the game as it is for open-ended play for anyone that wants to play that way.
Just an idea...anybody any thoughts on this?

They could also have integrated clans so you and your mates can play against each other it would take the strain off that one person who hosts the game and put the hosting on fm servers this would make the game faster for online play. It's good for the environment too since you won't have to use CDs anymore and will help against piracy.

    I'd like to see:

    1) Being able to start your manager career at a clubs under 18/youth team. then work your way up to reserves. This way you can form relationships with youth players who will then become 'in game friends' and want to move to your club when you take over first teams. I think this would be a good way of starting a career. Starting in the youth team then one day taking over the firsts.

    2) Player testimonials. Friendly games organised in the summer for your players who have been at the club for 10+ years. Then old/ex players coming back to play in the game.

    3) adding players/managers to your favourites when setting up a profile to start a game. Much like the favourite club setting. This would then be an easier way of interacting with people.

For me, the next step for FM would be to make the game faster and less sluggish (in lack of a better word...).

I feel that this game now has enough features, so a year of fine-tuning (without spending resources on any new revolutionizing stuff) would be perfect. I know this doesn't sound good in terms of marketing and so on, but if SI could make the interface smoother and more responsive, FM would improve vastly in playability.

As I have said here: http://community.sigames.com/showthr...15#post6195815 , and on other threads, I think FM12 should include:

    - Option to have a Director of Football

    - Managers able to take training like coaches (ie. on the coaches screen in training, your name and training speciality will come up)

    - Optional manager playing History to add a bit of atmosphere

    - Ability to make a club you stay with for a long time one of your favourite clubs, as players and AI managers do.

Apologies, I mis-posted this elsewhere, but a few ideas:

    1. During the match engine we can see the players, fans, officials, medical staff and subs...by why is there no little virtual manager sitting on the bench or pacing around the technical area?? The would be a good little inclusion.

    2. On the games home page we can change the widgets etc, to display different info...I would like a notepad to be added, so I can type in notes and it will always be shown on the homepage, instead of have to create player notes...I can just have a pad for typing in random stuff.

    3. Why are the ad-boards still the old style, surely nearly all the top grounds have the new digital boards...why are these not represented? Surely they increase clubs income by changing to digital boards?

I would like to be able to set a player to a certain role so that any time they are on the pitch they are that role. So for example if I'm playing Crouch as a target man and bring on Defoe as a sub it should automatically assign him to a poacher if I have set that as his default role. Is annoying having to change the role everytime I make a substitution or play a different player in my starting line-up.

not reading 65 pages to see if these have been mentioned, but here I go..

    Job Interviews
In FM11 we've seen the whole interaction thing taken up to the next level.. this could be tweeked to make job interviews when applying for a job. You apply for a job, either get put on the shortlist or rejected, and then like real life, you get a interview with the clubs board, where the answers you give have an affect of you getting the job

    Records : Top 10
Add Top 10 records to all clubs, nations and competitions .. "Most Capped; Most Goals; Most Cleansheets" etc. I'm a geek for stats and history built up over the my career games

Adding / Removing Leagues at end of the season
I tend to load up only a couple of leagues at the start.. England + 2 more; and basically pre-planning my career from the first click of the game. Would be great if you could add another playable league at the start of each season, or remove a league you have got bored with (i..e i dont have a real interest in what happens in the Andorran league once I've left it, so I'd like to de-select that league and load up the SPL for a different challenge

Add a Manager - City of Birth
Only a small thing, but its available for EVERYONE else in the game accept from us

    Charity games

Did you see a match between Europe XI and Man Utd a few years ago? If you did, you should know what I'm talking about. We should be able to arrange games like this one. We invite players for our team and choose an opponent or in reverse - we challenge another manager or player, he makes his own team and we play against it. The whole cash is donated to charity. What do you think about it?

    A revamp of scouting

At present it’s in a way all or nothing you either know the value of an attribute or you don’t. Id like to see it changed so that’s scouts make mistakes about attribute values and it’s possible to sign a player on a scouts recommendation only to find out his significantly different once he arrives at your club.

E.G your scout has Judging Player ability 10 you send him to see a player he reports back that the player has Pace 16, Off the ball 15, finishing 14, heading 12 etc.
You sign the player he arrives at your club you find he has Pace 17, Off the ball 12, Finishing 9, heading 14.

This would add some tactics to scouting do you have as many scouts as possible and make them watch a lot of games before buying a player or do you get the best scouts you can and trust their judgment after watching the player once?

The part in bold already exists in the game, which I found the hard way
