i hope there add an option where you start from the bottom as a youth team coach or reserve coach and be involved in first team like give the manager you opionon of who should be given ago in the first team from your squad and then you build your reputation up and then go onto be first team manager of a club i feel it would add more depth to the game. who knows the manager your working for as youth coach could take you with him if he gets a new job if your good enough. i feel that the training should be more complexed like you should be able to take sessions and instruct what to do each day like 5 a side games passing drills tackling drills and i think another cool thing would be that you should be able to be chairman and manager of club but not to start off with but when you get enough money from managing like wages and bonuses you should be able to make bids for a club like a lower league club as you wouldnt have enough money for top team to start off with and you should be able to choose a business to manage and obviously you just get updates of how business is doing and not be involved properly like real life but just sim.

This is an idea based upon the newly introduced player biography section.Now,wouldn't it be nice to have something like that for clubs too.We could have it in the history tab,and it could give us a summary of something like every 5 years...the major players,the managers,any stadium/boardroom moves etc etc.

Saying that,we could even have a written summary in the league's history tab too,summarising the Champions,the title contenders,the surprise packages,the underachievers and the major players of that season.

but as for the set piece creator - great and all...but i think you should be able to create and train players to practice in training open play 'moves' for them to try and open up the opposition. or even practices for how to defend set pieces/certain key players/moves/situations.

edit: you should also have an interview for the managers job indicating what you would do with the club if you were employed, an idea ive seen a while ago. (together with reasons why you didnt get the job as you said). and if it is inline with what the chairmen is looking for then you put yourself in good stead to get the job - also if you just say what you think they want to hear and they hire you and you fail to do what you promised, like attractive football, eg real madrid, they get rid of you. i know real madrid sack managers even if they win the title, let alone do poorly, unyet ive seen players manage on fm without winning the title and staying on for years.... needs to change to be more pressurised for certain places.

im pretty sure you cant do this right now - but if you want to loan a player out and want 100% of the players wages and then you get about 20 teams offer to loan him....you cant tell without clicking every offer if they have offered that or not without checking. i'd say an automatic accept/reject feature with certain criteria set as per your terms.

edit: and also mentioning the clubs division in the offer, and also in accept/reject feature, to only acept clubs from certain divisions etc.

As an extension of fan/manager/press interaction maybe you could have a match programme comment before each match, in which you can choose what to talk about:

other managers
the club's direction
your players (for example helping boost a player in bad form, or break a youth player in to the first team)
form
transfer policy

I think it would be more interesting than the pre-match press conference as you choose the content and which part the media will pick up on.

If I mention a player in a press conference it shouldn't matter whether the media pick up on it the player would still care what I said.

We have great indicators about how the fans feel about you on a number of measures, is there any way of integrating that into the matchday (notable changes in attendance if you are a small town club, or better atmosphere in all situations - helping morale in matches), if I start the match with an unpopular player can that affect it, or if I bring on a returning hero the atmosphere rises and the momentum has more chance of changing.

on a different tack, I'd like more control on scouting (picking a rotation of clubs and counties - e.g. asking my best youth coach to watch out Real u19's first game of every season, that will repeat).

also more restrictions, if I have a scout in Brazil, I shouldn't be able to ask him to watch Jonjo Shelvey's next three games, or keep an eye on the French reserve league.

Here are some ideas

Physios

When your player gets a knock during a match, or your physio goes on to treat the player. He must must must must give the manager a report on the injury. The accuracy of the report could depend on the physios judgement.

So he says "Jimmy Bullard has a bruised knee. He's Ok to continue"

And occasionally his judgement is wrong and the injury is more serious. IRL, the Physio is in contact all the time with the manager.

The physio should have different attributes to other members of staff also. I don't care how good he is a judging player potential. I want to know about his treatment skills, fitness work, diagnosis ability, reliability, rehabilitation work, whether he is a risk taker or not etc.

He should be an integral part of the staff team, at the moment he has no impact on the game at all. Physios could be specialists for different types of things, so together you could build a physio team with joint specialists, rehab specialists, massage specialists or whatever.

one minor problem with the game at the moment is the fact you cant sign more than 2 physio's at a club; when infact they have several at a lot of clubs when you start there, but cant replace them with another.

that risk taker idea with the physio is a nice touch i like that one....

all apologies if any of that had been mentioned before but it's a far too long thread to read and i mention those suggestions every year so thank you in advance for not thrashing me hehe

1. direct/indirect freekick taker - so if my striker is good at taking powerful freekicks or bending them in i don't have to be punished by having him cross freekicks from midfield or touchline

2. setting plays - to make it easier it could be done by combining a set of moves from list and/or off ball positioning and runs, and i know IRL players are not like a chess soldier but still they are given specific moves to exploit or close down opponents

3. in game teamtalk - i want to be able to shout at a player that he's terrible today or telling him he can make the difference or relax and play your game

4. dug out cam - if i'm the manager maybe it'd be interesting if i could watch my players from the right POV, not the supporters or commentator

that's to name a few until i can actually think about it, and of course i already gave up on having the egyptian league in the game hehe

Different sized pitches. In the pre-match report you will be told the the pitch is narrow or short but in the match day view it is always the same size so if you play a narrow tactic it always looks like you have loads of space out wide.

I think it would be interesting to have pre-season interactions with players, where you can propose individual objectives for them to achieve. Higher Ambition players would be more motivated by difficult goals, and insulted by anything they see as too easy. Low Ambition players could find themselves demotivated by anything too difficult. Perhaps as a player is reaching his objective, his performances increase or decrease depending on Determination and Pressure attributes.

Example objectives:
-- Score X league goals
-- Keep Y clean sheets
-- Start Z league matches
-- Earn an international call-up
-- Make the World Footballer of the Year shortlist

There could also be training-related goals, such as pushing a young player to increase for example his physical ability, weaker foot, or a training attribute area i.e. Aerobic, or even just one particular attribute. Of course this would act to the detriment of other areas of training, pushing the player to be a specialist. We already have this option with PPMs, but to extend it to direct attribute training would be a step forwards in terms of player development.

Interactions where there is a good player/manager relationship would be more likely to succeed, and repeated achievements of proposed goals would lead to a stronger relationship being forged.

I'd like there to be a notes tab available for clubs as well as players.

I know we can make whatever notes we want in the usual fashion, create categories etc. but it would be so useful if, for example, after playing an opposing team, you could click on their notes tab, write down anything you learned about their tactics and players and then, when you meet them next time, click on their notes tab again and bingo, its there for you and its easily accessible.

Should be very simple to do as this facility is already available for players.

Every year i have to give my staff new contracts to make sure they dont go off to another club and it's really really tedious. If you have a wage budget of say 3 million and you're only spending 1m, please could you ask the board to allow you to spend a lot more of it, say 500,000 to get a once in a lifetime sort of player, rather than at the moment being powerless to even enter into discussions about the possibility.

1. When retraining a player to a new position, it would be great if I could tell my Assistant Manager (who runs my reserves) to play him in the new position so he gets experience there without me having to endure several months of bad performances in an unfamiliar position in the first team.

2. A 2D graphic showing my players' positions at set pieces would be great. At the moment, I'm not entirely sure where he's going to run if I ask him to "attack ball from deep". How far outside the area will he lurk? If I could move them slightly as well (as in the old Championship Manager with ball/without ball screens) to refine their runs, that would be a massive help.

3. Improve the coaching feedback.

At the beginning of every season, I assign my set piece takers, in order of their attributes for that particular set piece. Why then, do my coaches tell me that John Smith is not a suitable penalty taker when he has a penalty taking attribute of 17?

In the pre-match advice, the coaches often suggest things. If I ask my Assistant to sort out the Opposition Instructions, he doesn't always do as they suggest, even though he agreed with them in the pre-match meeting.

4. Could we have a tactical feedback screen from the assistant manager? He might then be able to tell me things about my system that need tweaking. Is my tempo too fast for my passing style, given the quality of my players? Am I asking my MCs to work too hard? Is my lack of dedicated defensive-minded MC leaving my defence exposed? I don't think the in-match Assistant Feedback does enough of this.

- Feature.... You can have a talent search around England(Wat ever Country) and look for players that have not played at professional level before.

- Headlines should have a varitey lots of headlines, no the same old same old, When a headline comes up, we shouldnt see dat same form come up again.

Being able to specify how you want the ball played to certain players in game. I.E my Milan game I have Pato as the TM with run onto ball, but I want the team to aim for Huntelaar's head for most of the passes that go to him, or to Hazard's feet as well. But, I can't have three target men so that's impossible.

Same for picking a certain player to mainly aim your crosses at, there's no option for that other than "Target Man" and with Pato being mine, he's not the type you want to be heading a ball.

Instead of having a set PA, all players should have a range (like the -10, -9 etc) and with the right training can reach anywhere in that range. So, this means instead of a player being guaranteed to only reach 170 in ability, he could potentially become the greatest player on ever. If you train them right.

It will add alot of realism to the game if you can choose a training camp in a country of your choice and invite up to 30 - 35 players to join. Then your assistant manager and coaches give you a tip about who should be in the squad seeing from the training camp the cut the amount of players needed have 2 - 3 friendlies and travel 7 days before the world cup. This would add alot of realism to the game, alot and also make the international side of the game better.

Hello All this is my first post since the old CM days. Firstly I love the FM series and looking at how FMlive is evolving and Steam I see ways that dynamic updating to keep the game relevant and fresh according to what is happening in the real world. By this I do not mean patches (bug fixes/engine updates etc)

The above maybe fanciful but if you get the idea then dynamic updates working separatly to patches should keep the game playing experiance fresh and even unpredictable.

Another thing is to hand real responsibilty to the assistant and coaches both for planning and team feedback.....why else are there there for than to advise the manager (again thinking of dynamic updates, think of how this can evolve)

For example....

Your assitant can propose team training schedules or or individual schedules. The manage r can proose his but the assitant "coaching philosophy" means that this might be rejected or advice might be given on how best to maximise the teams tactic and playing potential.

Simply having assiatnt and coaches carrying out your every whim is not how and management coaching works and this is also the reason that when a mangaer leaves a club its down to player power or down to internal differences.

This leads onto what also happens in real life, manager (over years) maybe have tried and trusted mebers of his team , therfore when he leaves a club core members of his team either leave with him or when the manager gets another job, takes his backroom team with him.

Shouldn't Sale Values of star players be a little more realistic? Most starting 11 players of top teams cost sometimes more than 50million pounds, which is quite unrealistic... For example, Liverpool wanted 70m for Glen Johnson while i offered some 40m; but in reality, won't a club let go of almost any player (especially if it is a defender, which is, in this case) for offers such as 40m pounds (maybe except in the cases of few like Ronaldo, Messi, etc.) ?

Also, clubs with big loan debts don't give a damn about it - Valencia and Man Utd were still charging like crazy for all their players, rejecting 30m bids like they were nothing, while in reality Valencia let go of Villa for some 33m Pounds; Real Madrid are planning on exploiting Man Utd's financial problems by snatching Vidic for 30m, etc.

Football Manager 2010 is a revolutionary piece of gaming tool and a fantastic achievement, almost an impossible one. With that type of achievement comes very high expectations, so theres a few things I'd like FM 2011 to incorporate.

1. Improved User manager profiles - I want to be able to compare my stats to other managers and obviously more attributes to match theirs should be included.

The manager stats should change accordingly to accomplishments, achievements, decision making etc. Obviously we only have mental attributes included at the moment so I can understand that the stats change to other factors.

2. Media memory - To give an example, if I were to have managed Inter Milan and later joined Aston Villa, I'd like clubs to link me with players I've created rapport and already worked with at Inter Milan. For example; when Jose Mourinho joined Real Madrid, he was linked to buy Maicon.

This applies to press conferences too, they should link relevant players. This could be identified through how many times I praised a player (implying I favour him).

To make the players less AI and more "human", I want them to have better "memory". So if I bought Sneijder to Villa, I'd like him to comment on being happy to work with me again.

Another situation would be, if I managed Inter Milan and left them for Villa and later re-joined them, I'd like the media to comment on returning to the team and some players to also like/dislike my return. A sense of memory would make it more believable.

Also, it would be great if the media had better memory of my managerial style of play or better yet, distinguishes my style. So for example, if I tend to manage my teams with the "Rigid" philosophy, I'd like the media to comment on my conservative, disciplinarian style e.g. Dunga adapting Brazil for a more rigid style, likewise with Capello/England.

3. More realistic rapport with players

Again, pretty similar to my prior points; I'd like players I bring up from a young age, train them and make them into decent players to acknowledge that in some sort of way. For example; an unknown youngster Muhammet Demir who plays for Bursaspor, I transformed him into a quality player yet his favourite personnel was only Turkey's manager for picking him.

4. Smart Press conferences

Rather than stating the obvious "tedious press conferences", one solution to improve on that would be to make better use of our personal responses during the conferences. When we type a comment, it would be fantastic if the media could feature it in their headlines but somehow understanding it through "keywords". This is obviously quite complex and would require simple answers from us for the computer to understand it, but it would be a great addition.

Whilst playing online, I've noticed press conferences are useless as both the press-set decisions and additional comments aren't seen by the other user. They should appear on the other users screen.

5. Nationality


I think it would be pretty cool to have the option of choosing where you were born and also ethnic background. So for example Spanish descent but born in England thus British.

Improvement of the Trainings and the Tactics:

A new training mode, more similar to the everyday-job of a real manager, having the possibility of programming the week of trainings and to try new schemes (that should be as well implemented in the tactics, big miss now).

I should be able to program every single day of work with the team, to prepare carefully the players during the pre-season, to try new tactics and schemes (both offensive and defensive), to adapt the players to the different situations that could appear during a match.

I would like that my player will do what I teach them in every playing situation, of course they will be more confident with the tactics as long as I train them to particular movements. As manager I will also supervise the work of other coaches, for instance I could have chat with fitness coach about improving the fit of the team or with physios about the injuried players, preparing a program to make them recover fastly.

The possibility to prepare schemes for free-kicks and corners.

To have more movements available for a player: for instance if I play with 4-3-3 and I want that my TS will cut inside the box I should be able to do so and I should be able to tell to my MC to pass the ball after maximum 2-3 touches.

I love FM but I think this aspect is a big miss in the game, in these forums I see that everyone would like to have a game as IRL and I agree with this, but before to do it taking care of marginal aspects I think this would be much more important.

Fix the things that are not well tuned now:

- the annoying interviews with media and the fact that they are too much important in the game;

- the co-ownership for italian leagues, it needs to be improved and anyway it would be nice to have an option in the editor to disable this feature;

- improved tutoring mechanism, more realistica and linked to mental attributes of the players (a professional 16yo player would hardly refuse to be tutored by a skilled and experienced player, such refusal could be done by a player with low professionism and high controversy);

- an effective increase of the manager's reputation if the requested results are achieved;

- a more realistic transfer market, especially for managers and staff;

- an improved AI for the transfer market and for the tactics.

I would like to see a tweak to the way setpiece insructions are assigned from being player specific to instruction specific, as that doesn't make too much sense I think a quick example is in order.

Currently we tell a player to perform a specific task during dead ball restarts currently I tell my agile & tall forward to stand on the near post to try & flick the ball on, I can only give one player that instruction because telling two to stand at the near post would be stupid but what if that guy ends up taking the corner? There is no player now looking for the flick on.

What I would prefer is a menu to assign a couple of players to assume this role & repeat the task for the other dead ball starting positions, it's then up to the AI to make sure the correct player is in the correct position no doubt making use of the player intelligence/decision making attributes, if my winger now goes to take the corner a teammate takes his place on the near post & other players change position to accommodate the switch,

I would also like to see the defend corner options of stand on near/far post to be supplimented with an alternate option of stand on left/right post as in the lower leagues I'd rather not have my left back standing on the right hand post & getting all confused when the ball is cleared, much safer for dumb grassroots footballers to stay on their side of the goal plaus the addition of an option to tell a player to stand outside the box for any clearances as the current stay forward option doesn't seem to do the trick as the player will rarely come deep enough to try & win any loose balls.

Related to all this is also the issue of selecting who takes corners, freekicks etc which forces us to either select no players & hope everything works out or list our preferred takers in a rigid order of preference, what I would prefer to see is that I select say 2 or 3 corner takers but in no specific order of preference & again the AI decides which player takes the corner based on the factors such as match performace, ego (see Drogba & Lampard with penalties), confidence or simple player pecking order.

Several things i would like to see implemented.

1. Individual Player Specific tactics. ie I have two full backs one attacking and one not so , one will go forward and cross the other will stay at home. It would be nice if i didnt have to change the team tactic everytime depending on who is playing. If the game could remember each players specific instructions in a set team tactic.

2. Corner routines. I would like to be able to place a player to lurk at the far end of the penalty area so that wayward high corners just dont go out of bounds. Be nice to be able to place my defenders that stay back , i have 3 stay back quite often 2 are in the middle and one on the flank. Instructions for stay back central, stay back left and stay back right would solve this.
Cap the number of players that can be in a certain position for attacking corners to prevent overstacking.

3. More player interaction for when they are unhappy . ie: My current players are unhappy because i bought in a DC , however he can play a midfiel role also , hence my midfielders now feel the is too much competition for a place. I would like to be able to tell them that the new player was brought in to play as a CD and they do not need to worry.

4. Team tactic . I would like the last saved tactic to be the default one, half way thru the season and i still have to go and find my tactic thru the scroll down menu and set it manually for each game.

5. Allow my Assistant Manager to take control of the first team games pretty much the way you can set them up to do the reserves. Some games i like to manage full on other i just like the recruiting and financial managment aspect of the game. I know we can go on holiday for the games but it just doesnt feel like the right thing to do.

6. Reserve Games. If i am trying to retrain a player to a new position then i would like the Ass man to play them in that position when he takes control of the reserve team.
If i send a player to the reserves to get match fitness then i would like the ass man to play him.
Any player that is in the first team but is available for reserves should be picked to play in the reserves ahead of just back ups and youth.

7. Friendly matches. Make it less cumbersome to fixture your own friendlies , give the "choose other" option a memory of what settings you have chosen in the filters.

I may be in the minority on this one - but I'd love to see the international management side of things given a bit more focus. Obviously the main focus is always going to be on club management, but I do take a lot of enjoyment out of managing my nation to victory.

It would be fantastic if, as national coach, you could become involved in actually improving the calibre of playing produced by your nation. Winning games should not only lift your FIFA ranking and appease the fans - it should earn money (as it does) for your national FA to invest in junior development, stadium construction, and (and this is my main desire) bidding for tournaments.

I think it would be terrific if, in my inbox, I received a message announcing that my nation had opted to bid for a major tournament such as the World Cup or a continental competition and then had the option to pick stadiums to use/upgrade/build; had build up articles that hyped the tournament; and went through the bid wrangling with other confederations etc.

Surely I'm not the only one who'd like to see their work turning Qatar into a passable national side paid off with the ability to host the biggest footballing tournament of them all?

Would it be possible to have a setting where the Board are in charge of Transfers and you as the manager have to provide them with a short list of players you want at the beginning of each transfer window then they buy what they can/want?

I know this sounds daft in some ways especially as a lot of the fun is in trying to buy players, but it would be a realistic feature.

You could have it set so that when you are negotiating your contract with the club it is specified whether Transfers are handled by you the manager of by the board.

You could have it as say either just a shortlist you produce for them or, you could specify certain positions you want to strengthen and recommend players for those positions

I would like to be able to speak to players not just offer contracts to try to persuade them to join; tell them your plans, outline your vision, promise them the captaincy, tell them they could be just another player at a big club but a god with your smaller side etc etc.

I would like to have Player position presets for scouting.

For Example;
If I need a target man, I would just tell my scout to find me a target man by picking it from a drop down list rather than putting it all in with the filters and attributes. I know its just a small change from what we can currently do, but that would make it easier to include and less work for SI.

Another Idea was Trial Days.

I know each country has a trial day where un attached players can be watched. But what I want is the ability to arrange and advertise a Club trial day. Interested Free Players can attend and play a friendly game as part of an inter squad friendly allowing my coaches and scouts to run the rule over them. We can currently offer individual trials to players but only if your scouts have already found them. This way we might find players we would otherwise have missed.

I also like the Idea of Dynamic league reputation, as long as it is not too easy for a league rep to increase. It must be based on several teams being successful over a sustained period, rather than just 1 doing well in Europe one year in my opinion.

sorry if some of these are repeats of other people's ideas, i ain't be reading through all this thread, i'd be here all day, what i have seen though, i've liked. I agree with pretty much everything on this page.

1) It'd be cool if, instead of making board requests, you could actually have a conversation with them about a certain issue. I bet most managers are involved in some way in board meetings. They may not attend every one but i bet there is one scheduled per month or quarter where the board invite the manager to air his views, make requests and they give him feedback on these things plus how they feel he is doing, plus emergency meetings for when things are going badly or you are being linked with other jobs etc. I feel the press conference gives a good model for this but perhaps board meetings would be a bit more conversational than Q+A style.
what i had in mind is something like you make the request as usual but then you get a dialogue box come up asking when you want to raise the issue with options like "annual general meeting", "next board meeting you are invited to", "next board meeting" (with this option you would ask to attend the board's next meeting to discuss X and they could allow it or say that they feel this can wait til your scheduled meeting in x number of weeks) or "now" (which would cause you to ring the chairman and make your plea and then he would either put it on the agenda for the next board meeting, dismiss your request or, if you feel it to be really urgent, ring the other board members for a quick decision). This would be good becaue some things are more urgent than others. if you need extra funds, then you don't want to wait for an answer but long-term projects like improving the youth academy or expanding the stadium aren't that urgent. It would also mean that you could be more detailed, e.g. you could say you think you need £X and why or that you would like to see the team forge X kind of affiliation with team Y.
This could work in reverse, with the board deciding that, for example, they want to put more money into the youth system or look into the possibility of feeder clubs and then you could respond to that and the more respected you are as a coach, the more likely it is that they will listen to you.
This would also allow for a job interview feature.

2) on a related note, international managers should be able to do similar things with their FA, like requesting that they set up another youth level, e.g. England has an U20s but Scotland doesn't (on the game) and England and Ireland have B teams (in real life).

3) There should be more interaction between international managers and their players. for example, telling players they must transfer to or away from certain divisions or teams if they want to be in contention (Rab Douglas - Leicester), or telling players you have faith in them no matter what team they play for (David Beckham - LA Galaxy) and when players are subject to transfer speculation, you should be able to give your opinion on the prospective move also you should be able to tell players their international careers are over as long as you are manager (e.g. Steve McLaren - Becks). It would also be cool to give players a squad status for their national team.

4) Also for international managers, you should be able to set up pre-tournament training camps (e.g. England in Austria) and play freindlies in that country while you are there. Also there should be National team vs. Club freindlies (e.g. England Vs Platinum stars).

5) When my chairman sells a player without my consent why does the press conference assume i am upset? the only available answers to journalists questions are ones which make me see dissapointed, why can't i say something like "it's OK, he was on the transfer list anyway and i was looking to move him on. i'm just delighted team x made such a good bid that the chairman didn't even need to ask ne."

6) I would like to able to comment on all transfer rumours, not just ones concerning my players. Especially i'd like to comment on my team being linked with other players as sometimes i am not interested in a player but the media claim i am and it unsettles him. i don't want to unsettle players i am not interested in, especially if i'm playing multiplayer with my mates. i don't want to unsettle their players and damage their teams for no reason. Also sometimes the fans get concerned at my reported targets so i would like to be able to reassure them. I know the press conference does ask questions about player links but they don't cover every story and it would be tedious if they tried to so i'd like to be able to rebuff incoming speculation as well as outgoing.

7) When the assitant manager takes press conferences, why does he talk like he's the manager? he should have different questions and answers to me.

8) it would be good, as a lot of people have suggested, if we could take up other roles at clubs such as assistant manager, coach, or scout, so that we could gain experience. And/or it would be nice to have the option of writing our manager's previous history and stuff.

9) I think the game should have more youth levels, from under 21 down to, well, some teams have under 8s. Naturally, these players would have to be regens because it would take forever to gather all the necessary squad information, but it would still be good, plus it would give us new board requests such as "disband U21s/U19s/U18s/U17s/U15s/U12s/U10s/U8s" or "set up new youth/reserve team". Obviously, this would create too many tabs on the squad screen etc so the squad screen could show what it does currently: the reserve team tab and the top youth team tab and then it could have an "Academy" or "youth system" tab (depending whether the club has an academy, which could also be a board request - "upgrade youth facilities to academy status") which could look like the national pool tab from international management.

10) It should also be possible to set up training camps or academies in foreign countries, perhaps as a partnership with a local team, where both teams fund the academy and both teams can sign any player from that academy for free at any time. A simillar thing is when local rivals set up local training camps in their city, e.g. Celtic and Rangers or Sheff Wednesday & United occasionally run training schemes for local youngsters as a way of scouting the really young local talent. This only happens every so often as usually they have their own schemes but sometimes they team up for a short period, mainly as a publicity stunt.

11) Players should get testamonial matches. And there should be memorial matches for anneversaries of club events where the current first team takes on a team of legends who come out of retirement for that game or similar. players could get invited to take part in All-Star charity matches and there could be invitations to manage a team in such games.

12) It would be nice to be able to talk recently-retired players out of retirement and offer "pay-as-you-play" contracts.

13) There should be more trabsfer options e.g. when offering players for loan you should be able to choose which divisions to offer to e.g. Arsene Wenger didn't want Jack Wilshere going to anywhere but the premiership last season. Other loan clauses could include Loan swap deals (i.e. JA Reyes + Julio Baptiste in 2006/7), deal becomes permanent after X amount of games, extra fee after X amount of games/goals. Transfers should have other similar clauses like, player is immediately loaned back to selling club for 1 or 2 seasons, selling club gets choice of any 1/2/3 of the selling team's reserve/youth team players for loan, clubs become affiliated, avoid relegation clause, reach playoffs clause, X number of clean sheets clause, cup winners clause. All clauses should have an expiry date on them, so a player has to make X number of appearences in Y number of years., etc.

14) If people in the game have a distinguished career, they should recieve national honours like knighthoods and equivalent.

15) when setting up freindly tours, there should be more than a 4-match limit and you should be able to specify a "home" stadium to use for some games on the tour AND be able to play teams from other nations on the tour like Celtic were going to play Rangers in Boston (USA)

16) When signing a player who needs a work permit but can't get one, why can't i send him on loan to one of my foreign feeder clubs who i'm afilliated with for just that reason? Jus because he can't get a work permit doesn't mean he shouldnt be my property to loan abroad.

I hope for the Tactics Creator and the ME become alot more diverse and complex. By this I mean more options and so forth. I feel it is hard to re-create the style of Barcelona. As to it is to create the solidility of Jose's Inter. I feel their should be a lot more options, and us as manager's should have more control over the tactics of our sides. It's be nice if the game generated more buzz around managers. i.e i'm a rookie manager in the lowest league in Italy, but it's february and so far my no hope team are undefeated, yet i'm still on unproven reputation. It doesn't seem to matter to the game if you are unbeaten or if you've lost three times and are still top, whereas IRL there'd be much more interest from the media if you were on for an undefeated season and your reputation as a manager would rise quickly and attract bigger clubs.

It's a management game, so much more should be done to make the manager role more important, respected and unique to each individual and their style.

1. Could we have a more flexible/intuitive approach to player positions? E.g. If I have a player whose only position is MC, but has all the attributes needed to be a very good defensive-minded midfielder at whatever level he plays at, it seems daft to me that he gets a red warning light if I try to play him in the DMC position. Is there a way that for the regens/newgens, that the game is more intelligent in designating the positions he can play in? If the regen/newgen starts off with attributes which could develop into a good DMC (for example), could he be at least a 'competent' DMC?

2. Could the 'Central Midfielder' position have an 'Automatic' role, as the Full Backs and Wide Midfielders have?

Let's say that you want to see all your team goals so far in the season.

Quite a minor feature i would really like to see introduced is a small introduction before the game starts. Just teams coming out, lining up and a few bits of commentary saying along the lines of 'welcome to the so-n-so stadium, its a lovely day here' etc etc. (With the option to skip it if you want in preferences)

At the moment you just click continue and the players and all in position, creating a bit of an anti-climax after the pre-match stuff.

Also, as has been mentioned before, a little manager avatar!


Im not saying the graphical side is the most important aspect of FM, far from it, but little changes can make a huge difference.

I have a suggestion that came out of my frustration with the Hall Of Fame

I am playing as a Welsh Premier League side, and have won 3 leagues and 4 domestic cups. However, in the Hall of Fame I am only credited with 2 cup wins. I suggested some sort of points system be allocated to each cup. FrazT pointed out, correctly, that in this case you might have a lower league manager overtaking a much higher manager simply because they've won more at their level. To combat this, I made this suggestion:

20 points for winning English FA Cup
15 points for winning Carling/League Cup
10 points for winning JPT trophy
7 points for winning FA Trophy
5 points for winning FA Vase

20 points for winning English Premier League
17 points for winning English Championship
15 points for winning League 1
10 points for winning League 2
7 points for winning BSP
5 points for winning BSP North/South

This would mean, for example, you would have to WIN the BSP North FOUR times to equal ONE win in the Premier League..and who is going to do that, unless you get promoted 4 times and relegated 4 times..which i see as completely insane. As I pointed out to FrazT, if you apply the points for the BSP, FA Trophy and Vase to the Welsh Premier, Loosemores Cup and Welsh Cup, I would be on 45 points, still some 27 behind John Toshack who has league wins in Turkey and other european honours. I would need 2 more leagues and 2 Loosemore cups to overtake him, by which time I would probably have won more honours than him. The disparity between the points could be even greater, say:

20 points for winning Premier League
15 points for winning Championship
7 points for winning League 1
5 points for winning League 2
3 points for winning BSP
1 point for winning BSP North South

I would think that people who are into career games would appreciate an overhaul of the HOF, and this seems like a logical solution.....this way, ALL championships, cups, etc, have relevance for the HOF, but there would still be a massive gap between lower and higher divisions. Of course, if you start in the BSP North and win every single cup and every single league, you're going to rack up massive points...31 just for the leagues in my last suggestion, but is it REALLY likely to happen...and if it DOES...you deserve the points IMO!

It does inevitably mean that a highly successful lower league manager might overhaul a less successful higher league manager, but in leagues with promotion and relegation, in 99% of cases, surely the lower league manager would have progressed to a higher league in the amassing of points, therefore rendering that argument irrelevant.

Another possible solution is that if you get relegated from a division, you LOSE the same HOF points you would for winning. So, a manager gets his team from the Championship to the Premiership as champions, gets 15 points. However, he immediately gets them relegated, and LOSES 20 POINTS. Therefore, if he gets them promoted again...like some clubs recently, he is still 5 points down, and therefore a weaker manager and lower in the HOF. Not sure, but this might be possible to apply in the cups..losing a final loses an equal number of points that the winning manager gains.

Would be interested to know what you think, cos I'm in my first EVER extended game and would really appreciate being credited with ALL my wins!

I would agree that something needs to be done about how the HOF is shown; I don't agree with the current system that makes lower league trophies irrelevant when looking at your record - I.E. you might have won several lower league trophies but the records say 2 minor trophies I.e. League Cup etc.

So I think that this should be changed to show all of your trophies - even if it recorded them as Major Trophies, Minor Trophies and Lower League Trophies...? I don't necessarily agree that someone who wins lots of lower league trophies should be high on the HOF compared to someone winning at the highest level - while your point is correct about league trophies

Where I am less sure is that the point system is wrong. I honestly don't know the current one so difficult to say its whether its wrong. If the points you suggest were to be implemented I would argue that the Premier League and those above that would have to be worth far more than the rest. A manager could easily win the championship twice (not IRL as that has not been seen in my remembrance but certainly in the game) with a relegation in between and be seen as a better manager than someone winning the Premier League once... So maybe Premier League at 100 perhaps with Championship at 20 etc

shadow striker position I think we need this position to distinguish between an out and out striker and a forward just off the main striker. As it is in the game, a deep lying forward reasonably carries out the job but they are a bit to close and and in line with the stiker and their movement isn't great. Also, the AI don't know the style of real life fowards for instance Carlos Tevez is a shadow striker in real life but doesn't play this role in the game and scores too many goals from a different style. A new position would help AI managers play players in their correct style.

Training reports I think we need weekly and more detailed training reports from coaches. For instance, a coach will tell you who has performed badly in training and doesn't look match sharp or they will say about fringe players, " This player has performed well in training over the last week and should be considered for a place on the bench on saturday."

Player interactions For instance in FM10, I haven't been playing my 2nd choice goalkeeper they come to me asking to be transfer listed and i am giving a list of options to choose from. Then from what i say the player will react and this reaction could be different from player to player. This is good but there needs to be more situations. For instance a player comes to you asking for advice on retiring. Then you are giving different options to choose from like
- Ask him to go away and consider it and come back to you
- Tell him that you don't believe he is good enough for next season
- Tell him he is a key part of your plans
- Tell him you want him to sign a new contract
- Tell him you want him as a future coach at the club if he decides to retire

That is the general idea anyway

Manager bias Don't know if it's in the game but some managers look to buy more players from their home country like Mourinho signing portugese players, Benitiz signing spainsh players and Wenger signing french players. Also if managers have players listed as their favourite personal they should try and sign them

Ive got a couple of bugbears that have been annoying me for a while

1. You get the season off to a flyer with 2 or 3 big wins, at this time you have no opportunity to praise your players (that kicks in after about 4 weeks in the season) but your players are upset that you dont "give the team enough credit"... Seems like punishment for doing well...

2. Theres "disharmony" in my squad but no information on who/what is causing it so fixing it is either a complete guessing game or dependent on stuff outside my control...

3. If I have a 202cm DC with 15 heading and 16 jumping then when I have a corner I want his ass front and center, not hanging back at the center line....

4. Ive done the improbable, My League 1 team has pinched the League Cup and qualified for the EC (lucky draw, Stole the final against Ipswich 2-1), and now my best players are bitching about having to move to a better club to get trophies... Id have thought theyd be ecstatic that Ive managed to provide top level competition for them.

5. Speaking of the EC, why are home games turnouts so low? I mean 10%ish of league game... Its annoying enough that my league progress will be halted by lack of money having a stadium that only holds 4500 (Ok, Ive dragged Maidenhead up from BSS to CH- I got out of BSS in season 1, which was surprising but I think that made BSP quite a difficult challenge) but 400 at an EC home game? Qualifying round or not, I has getting better crowds in the JPT L2... Hell, I was getting better turnouts in BSS...

6. Id like to do SOMETHING with my wages, shares in other football clubs, late night poker with my players, anything really....

7. the U21 tournament HURTS man That tourney stripped my squad of 5 first 11 players last season, which would have been ok if I hadnt just had an horrific run of injuries amongst my senior players. My first team usually has 28 players, and I could not field a starting eleven from that squad at the time, never mind actually playing them in position I had to drag the keeper from the U18 squad.

8. When an opposing defender has a yellow, Id like to direct my attack through that player, to pressure him into maybee fouling again and getting sent off, or into backing off to avoid fouling and allowing my attack extra space/time.

9. Setting tactics to players instead of just positions, I have 2 AML/ST players, one is suited to inside forward and the other wing, it just gets annoying to change the tactic every time I sub the players.

10 which brings me to rotations... Id love to be able to set up a rotation schedule for positions, If I have 4 MCs of similar ability It would be nice to rotate them through without having to select them for every single match (and to parse them out if injured/suspended). Saving selections doesnt work cos theres just too many permutations. It could also reduce players whining about not getting played enough.

11. Speaking of that Id love to tell a player "youre not getting football cos you suck, and if you dont like it theres the door (free transfer/mutual termination)"

Often I like to drag a BSS/BSN team to the bigtime (Im sure lots do) Most teams and players are out of the scope of the immediate gameplay, but I would still like the fullness of game that they provide when you get up in the leagues without suffering the slowness of processing each day for all those teams and leagues while still a low level team. A "quick and dirty" processing method for the teams outside of (eg) the allowable scouting regions would be quite useful, especially when you miss the playoffs by one spot... Or by allowing additional nations/leagues at the end of each season...

13. My biggest complaint is that if my team is performing well then I have to praise my players ALL THE TIME. its like they cant get enough: its the end of game ritual- go to the first player who got 7.0 or higher and praise him, go to the second player who got 7.0+ and praise him, go to the third player who got 7.0+ and praise him....

Lets not get me wrong, I love the game. I just get annoyed with it when it turns into "Repetition Manager", these repetitive actions could (and should) be able to be automated if not actually eliminated.
Perhaps some sort of scripting system could be implemented (not wanting to turn it into "Coding Manager", btw) to take care of such tasks that take time, are necessary, but dont actually improve gameplay. The possibility of management styling plugins appeals, as do skinning/kitting plugins...

Now that I think it, Lots of stuff would be better served as widgets on the match screen (tactics, subs), or as widgets on other screens: think of being on the tactical setup screen and having a widget that shows positions, another one showing the first team, another one showing the reserve team, being able to dock them to corners, place them in accordions, a lot can be taken from RIA's and their intuitive layouts. The current game is set out like a webpage, not an application.

A game mode where the manager has a total control of the budget:

- the manager can decide to invest money of the team for building a new stadium or for improving the training facilieties and youth academy;

- the board of the team can't sell a player that the manager wants to hold, even if the offers are really good;

- the manager can decide how many coaches, physios, scouts etc. wants to hire, as long as he will respect the limit of the budget, even in lower leagues;

- the manager can send the scouts wherever he wants, even if he's in a team in a lower league, as long as the budget is enough to sustain the expenses of scouts in another side of the world;

Improvements to the game

A game more fast, especially when are selected all the players of the world with DDT, this can be done using the new technologies at 100%: the Quad Core, the RAM that in new computers can be up to 16GB etc.

A game more difficult:

- an improved AI in the transfer market;

- an improved AI in the managers-market, often is possible to see top teams hiring people unknown or that haven't been successful in the last season, while it would be better to see hired by top teams the managers that won something with other top teams or that have reached unexpected results managing squads with low reputation;

- an improved AI in the tactical gesture of the match.

Having now read a bunch of pages, forget what I said earlier, thats all stuff that can be dealt with: here is the ONE single thing that I want:

The Ability to write/use plugins/widgets that can query the game database and output back to it in certain limited ways (define certain areas of the database as FM writable only).... I feel this could be used to give most of the stats guys unlimited reports without unduly bothering the SI coding team, allow additional screens to be added (trophy cases etc) by the fanbase that does not impact on the core game itself, and allow for much automation of repetitive tasks.

edit: having must of the current "screens" such as tactics and scouting et al as widgets/plugins would allow people to customize these functions to be more useful/powerful/useable without changing the underlying code that generates the results themselves.

I would like board confidence to be far more adaptable and considerate of the conditions you as a coach are placed under.

For instance I believe expectations for league performances should be lowered if a key player suffers a long term injury. e.g. Torres out for 9 months.

A line similar to:

"The board are disappointed you only managed to reach a runners up place this season.

They do however understand that this is in part due to the long term injury to Torres."

If half your squad are ruled out through injury then a similar lowering of expectation should take place.

2. Scouting

I would like to scout players via personality type and by position preference.

I want both of these options as search criteria which are selectable.

E.g. I would like to filter out all the model professionals when searching, I would also like to filter out all natural wingers.

Then I'll be left with only natural wingers who are model professional in attitude.

Choosing players to buy whom have the right attitude is essential, it's easy to search for determined players because the attribute for determination is selectable, I understand some of the stats are hidden but just being able to select the 'model professional' or 'born leader' tag players get would be a great help. When I am looking for a player I think of this first and individual characteristics second. Helps to build squad balance.

I think a manager's decisions should carry more long term consequences, just a small example, if he sells a player who achieves a big success at his new club the manager should face heavy criticism from fans and media, likewise if he prove bad in the media there should be scepticism at new signings-maybe the board would appoint a director of football to take over transfer dealings undermining your authority.

It would also be good if you and also players could have a different reputation in different countries, depending on past results etc. I'm pretty sure for example that Zlatan Ibrahimovic is more admired/respected in Italy than in England.

All things like this to make the game world more varied and interesting.

I've got an idea for the editor, with the whole creating/activating leagues and competitions. I know some people have managed to put together some sort of new competitions involving international teams, but they've had to set them up as competitions based in a particular country. Unfortunately, this is not without it's issues. The main problem I've noticed is with the disciplinary rules: say you create a competition for national teams and have to set it up in Zanzibar, and take control of the England national side (who are included in this fictional international competition in Zanzibar) - any suspensions picked up cannot be served as they apply to Zanzibari competitions only, and of course England aren't registered in Zanzibar. Therefore, my suggestion is to be able to create proper international competitions without having to set them up within a single nation somewhere.

Eg, when you apply for a job, a few different questions are asked and you state things like your transfer policy, the sort of football you like to play etc, then the board can give you the job based on this or say no, your not the right man?

Board room meetings to discuss various issues, like the current financial state of the club then between the board and you, the manager, decide on how you are going to go about sorting the financial problems out. Or discussing performance issues, where you can request extra funds for an attacking player for example and then you can discuss how much etc etc.

And the board and fans to stop being so disappointed when we lose a round ealrier than they hoped, even though it was against Man u for example. basically, for them to adapt to the situation of the clubs problems, injuries, difficult clubs etc.

The first one would count as tapping up and wouldn't be looked upon well in real life. The real solution to such a problem is for the AI to offer contracts to players it really wants to keep a year in advance or more rather than waiting just before the 6 months.

It annoys me because even though I have an agreed price he won't consider signing for me full time so its an aspect of having a player of his quality at the club being wasted.

Haven't read all the thread but how about having more sliders on the tactics screen so you can have players playing at different depths on the pitch, like say you have a CF and you don't want him to play up front, but you don't want him to play AM, you could be able to use the slider to have him play a bit deeper on the pitch behind the striker but in front of an attacking midfielder, or have your midfield/defence in a slight ark and not a straight line.

I would like to be able to give half-time pep talk to a player who is being replaced. After I specify a pep talk comment, it is wiped out and the pep-talk control is removed for replaced players who were replaced. After a player has been replaced, I am not able to specify a pep-talk comment.

For example, when a player with low morale has played a great game, but is tired and needs to be replaced, I want to let him know he's done well; for the effect on him, and for the effect on the rest of the team also.

1. As said by almost everyone, more interaction would be very pleasing, to both the press conferences' tediousness and the players. In the recent England camp controversy, there was a big focus from the media on their 'upcoming team meeting' or some sort. I often compare real life football management and the game to get ideas and well, quite obviously this is needed. And from some clubs, I have been advised before to tell my captain to have a 'team meeting'. Shocking I think, since a team is supposed to always be together and I would think (although I have never laid hands on real football management) that they would discuss something together since at club level, players are supposed to understand each other a lot more. Besides that, I totally did not know what to do when "X is worried by disharmony in team" when there is nothing to indicate a potential solution.

Heck, even from our side we could see that the Adebayor in Arsenal's 08/09 season was clearly a disruptive influence. How can I see that in FM? In-house reports should at least be there. The only moment I am given a hint at my team's harmony is pre-match when my Asst. Manager tells me who are struggling to fit in and etc. This is why a team meeting would be beneficial to squad harmony. Even then there should be lots of times where managers and captains get together to discuss an issue, like in-fighting that was leaked. Everytime I go to board confidence and check satisfaction, I always look forward to Squad Harmony the most, simply because I have no clear way of knowing the level of squad harmony there is in my squad. IRL, squad harmony is important but in FM I am not 100% sure.

Plus there are many things to discuss in team meetings, like there is in the Backroom Advice screen, which is frankly a terrific idea that everyone always wanted. Sometimes there are players that 'have trouble in motivating himself' because of either personal issues or your stature as a gaffer. Well, knowing that said person was my star striker, of course I get uneasy. I mean, what the heck am I supposed to do other than praise him or ask him for a recommendation or some sort. The bonds between staff and players are almost non-existent. And for no reason at all there are many times when other managers think they can become friends with me, which sounds completely mad sometimes, considering that the only way we can become friends is by praising each other and once you've resigned you keep in contact with your friend by further praising his squad. I can't say your orange hair looks great or you've got a great build, I can only say you're a great manager. Life is Football Manager it seems. Same issue with players too.

Like how Wenger spoke to and convinced Cesc to stay at Arsenal. Of course if that is applied it should be intricate and should not see a wild sky-high success rate. Parameters like favouritism should be implemented. Besides, it's quite unfair that IRL Villa or Silva or some really top-notch player not at a super top-notch club like Barca are not complaining that they can't speak to Barca but in the game they tell me they're unhappy. There is also the case of Carragher coming out of international retirement after Capello convinced him. In Football Manager that's pretty much unrealistic and not fun either.

2. Another major thing I want is the reinvention, or evolution of MATCH TACTICS, MIND GAMES, etc. Mind games in FM are truly overrated anyway so it's pretty much useless. I have never in my Football Manager life gone on a serious game and used mind games because frankly, nothing happens.

For MATCH TACTICS, I am quite satisfied with things but it definitely is lacking. I don't really like touchline instructions especially because most of the time I have very specific instructions and don't want some AI players doing things I don't even know are specifically done. A model example of this would be a person who is very suited to be, say, a "Complete Forward" but he just can't dribble and isn't strong enough, but the instructions tell him to hold up the ball anyway although he is totally not up for it. That aside, the put-in-the-box tactics are quite frustrating at times. When you see some games, such as the recent 3-2 loss to Slovakia for Italy, Di Natale was playing off Iaquinta for example. I don't know how to put that up on Football Manager simplistically tbh.

And other than that, looking at some other games, you'd see that the defense sometimes almost literally LEANS to the left or to the right, simply to defend against a bigger threat than what the other flank would pose. In FM you can't specify to be more focused defensively on which flank and can just specify how high or deep they will defend. Other than that you tell them whom to mark, which might cause the defense to shift but it wouldn't feel as good because you don't know if your central defenders are going to care because they have their own marking schemes anyway.

Also, as in Barca's 4-3-3, the front 3 are like a triangle I suppose. There are 2 wing players and 1 forward; in Football manager there are just 3 forwards. I don't really know if they're supposed to be wide wingers or anything but putting them at the upper corner really doesn't feel like I'm putting a wing forward that's supposed to support the main forward. This is where the loss of directional arrows really reflects badly. I can't specify how far a wing back is supposed to run. There are many times where a player in the pitch IRL is a midfielder but very often runs to the left to help the left wing. In FM10 I can't tell them anything much other than forward or backwards. Same thing with wingers. Cut inside? Just run and cross? I don't really know. Just go forward, I don't care where you go, even as a manager, I'm just giving you these specific parameters to base your actions upon. I don't care where you go, just go. Really frustrates me sometimes when setting up tactics.

Although the current 'free arrow' that just indicated to either go deep or go forward is fine as it relies on creativity and decision-making, I'd also like to see the old 'movement arrow'. It's very annoying not knowing where my winger is going or which flank my midfielder is going to support when I know specifically that the link up play/crossing on my right wing is excellent and my left not so. I can't really trust a player with poor decision-making whose status is written as 'Playing nervously' in the morale to take the right decisions can I?

If possible give up the boxed positions and introduce 'zonal' positionings. I can't give a very specific instruction such as wanting a triangular-shaped frontline of 3 strikers, or 2 DM's where 1 is leaning to the upper left of his zone and the other is leaning to the bottom right for example, just to nullify threats (i.e this winger likes to drop deep/cut inside so I put them there). This would address many people's wishes and may also be what some people are against but I don't know about the latter, I just know that many people I know and see in forums are in the former category. If possible (since I don't know how hard it is to do that) you could make another type of 'Convert to Classic Formations Setup' button just like the normal 'Convert to Classic Tactics' button but I think in general the zonal positioning idea I suggest would be better for most people.

And then there are some defenders who are better suited at fighting a certain style. i.e this defender is better at marking poachers/target men/advanced playmakers due to their...? In real life this should be a factor because each type of player has a different playing method and a player might have known it naturally/instinctively/studied it extensively but can't handle the other type's style of play because said player's role is to drop deep to allow space for the other striker.

On another note, roles such as the inside-out wingers (Robert Pires) or the false nine are never clearly stated either. It'd be good to include those kinds of roles in the basic tactics menu, although it's more like football knowledge, I don't know either if putting settings for these exact roles would do as good as IRL. The inside-out role, I'd think, would be neglected in FM to be honest but I haven't tested this. For example a left-footed right back can be able to deal with a right-footed left winger because these kind of wingers will look to cut inside more than left-footed left wingers because their dominant foot is at a better position to cross it.

Quoting from Jonathan Wilson of the Guardian,"Wide forwards can be stopped, but it takes a major change for the defending team. Alvaro Arbeloa's marking job on Messi for Liverpool in 2007 shows how effective it can be switching a right-footed full-back to play on the left flank, and Young's slightly stuttering form for Aston Villa earlier this season shows what can happen when full-backs get used to showing a player outside rather than inside." This kind of realistic effect would give FM10 a tactical versatility that would definitely beat any other football management game but pardon me if this does apply to FM10 but I just never tested it.

There are many aspects of the real football world that are missing here. Realistic tactics is one of the main aspects I look forward to in most strategy/management games and I would love a revamp of the positioning system and the 'up/down only arrow' since, as previously stated, it's frustrating not knowing where your players will run to.

To be honest it would be great if the two arrow features from past and present combine, separately or not.

3.Misc. things such as the manager's POLICY for example. Some managers have a policy for the youth academy, or a policy for consistency in matches and etc. For example if you apply to Arsenal now as a manager if Wenger has retired, the view that the board, and especially the fans, will hold would be that of a youth, attacking football and a 'togetherness' policy as Wenger focuses on squad harmony, attractive attacking football and the youth academy + youth players as evidenced by for example getting rid of Adebayor when he was at his most disruptive in 08/09 or his willingness to play young players or his unwillingness to sell players so easily (P.S I would doubt that IRL Wenger would readily sell Jack Wilshere for 12.5 million pounds in 10/11). Clubs like Real Madrid will definitely want an ambitious policy from the manager. If the manager's policy is to build to the future, he will probably not be hired but when it's the ambitious Mourinho who aims to win the CL the third time and with such a reputation, that's a 100% DO WANT for Perez.

Another thing would be Job Interviews. One of the reasons why I don't like being out of contract after a not so illustrious spell is that I won't be able to land a decent job in a decent league simply because there isn't really any job interviews and the AI would probably judge me by my reputation, as evidenced when I played a game just to manage the Ivory Coast in the WC and managed to get them past the 2nd round but failed in the end. Putting that on my CV would DEFINITELY attract at least a L1 club yet when I went on holiday and applied for any club I failed to find one in weeks but for my other manager who won a quadruple with Wolves, leaving and getting a new job would be a piece of cake.

Another might be the board. They're pretty much useless anyway. I wanted to sign Richard Hughes and after selling and getting 180 000 pounds to pump into the wages, at most I could offer 11250/week but he requested 12000/week. Come on, a much bigger player than most of the squad and he just needs A LITTLE MORE MONEY and the board doesn't want to hear this. Also, IT'S JUST A SMALL AMOUNT OF MONEY DIFFERENCE, TAKE A PAYCUT ALREADY, was what I wanted to tell him but he's a NPC. In another light, as said in my tl;dr point 1, it would be great if we could convince him to take a paycut. I doubt you'd see Robinho loaned to Brazil anytime soon. Or any player who requested a large sum of wage, but then decided otherwise after convinced.

Then there's also the departure from a club. I really can't tell the media or my players why I want to resign and no one cares anyway (except for the clubs who want a new manager). X has resigned, officials are refusing to comment. In my memory, even Rafael Benitez left with some words at least. In my memory at least I remember many managers saying something before they resigned, hired or sacked.

Manager profiles also lack interest and creativity, but is a good idea. Should've been developed a lot though since it's very lacking now. To be honest when I was on my first season with Wolves where we struggled, I seriously grew attached to the kind of players there and the club itself in the game yet I can't state that it's a favourite of mine. Of course it'd be hard if a player decides to have 100 favourite clubs so why not put favourite clubs with a limit for example. And to be honest I don't know how a Derby manager can know what team this particular Real Madrid youngster loves.

4. Dug-out point of view for 3D matches. Kinda self-explanatory I guess but I wouldn't mind not having this.

5. Continental Hangovers aren't even half as dangerous as they sound in FM10 than IRL. At first I thought,"Oh dang, maybe it's going to really affect my players." but then I simply destroyed the opposition like any other day with my preferred line-up and the players never get that tired either, in contrast to what real continental hangovers are supposed to do to the players

User interface improvement in the training screen to better handle separate training schedules for each player. Apparently the training interface is designed to handle a few training schedules. Many of us play with individual training schedules for each player, which means thirty to forty or more training schedules depending on team size. The training interface clearly was not designed for so many schedules and should be improved to handle many. Specifically:

- When selecting a training schedule for a player from the training schedule control, sort by schedule name. The "manage schedules" interface sorts by schedule name. So should the selection control. This would make it much easier to name the schedule with the players name and then search and find that specific schedule. Currently the sort order is the sequential time order the schedule was created; which is somewhat random and less helpful.
- For players appearing in the top half of the "players training" window, when I click on the training schedule selection control, the list of available schedules to select from only shows from the current position in the list to the bottom of the screen. But when the players appear in the lower portions of the "players training" window, the list of available schedules to select from shows schedules from the very top of the window all the way to the bottom. This latter selection presentation is much better, because it is possible to see many training schedules without scrolling through the list with only a small selection of training schedules in the list. The list of schedules to select from should always appear from the very top of the window to the very bottom of the window in order to present the largest number of schedules to select from.
- The "new schedule..." option appears at the bottom of the selection list presented by the training selection control. With many training schedules, this requires scrolling down through the entire list in order to enter a new schedule. This does not make sense when I know that I'm entering a new schedule, I do not need to scroll because I know I won't be selecting anything from this list. There should be no reason to need to scroll through the list of all training schedules to get to the option. The "new schedule..." option should be located at the top of the list, where the "rest" option is located.

If these requests are not clear, try managing schedules for all individual players of a large team. The request should become clearer then.

I think that the most important thing to change in the new game will be the tactical system. At the moment it works well, it's easy to use hard to master, but i still think it could be deeper. For example you should be able to give players instructions for when they have the ball, and separate instructions for when they do not, in other words each player has set attacking & defending roles.
Not only this i think that the positioning of players could be a bit more complex/flexible. I have found it difficult to create Brazils 442/4231 diamond for example because the positions they use are not available, and the closest leave gaps all over the pitch. Perhaps you could be able to move a players to any place on the field with certain zones in which you can only have certain roles. For example a deeper zone for DCs/DM's, overlapping to the midfield where you could have DM's/CMs etc.

A few suggestions:

1. Player Height and weight

These should be more dynamic and more influential. I don't know how many times I've had a 6 4 defender outjumped by a 5 7 winger just because they have similar jumping and heading stats.
A 15 year old is not fully grown so his height should change as he gets older. Similarly, a player who is injured may put on weight or if a player is lazy and needs more long runs :-)

Maybe a dietician could be hired??

2. Player/board/manager interaction

If I have 2 players that do not get on with each other, what can I do? Send one out on loan? Sell one? If the players would tell me what they do and do not like about each other then I could chat with them and try to help smooth out problems. These are deffo important management skills

If a player has personal problems, why can't he chat with the manager and explain what is wrong. If necessary, the manager can then take some action - cure homesickness by bringing over the players family (at a cost to the club of course).

Similarly, a lack of motivation can be resolved by telling the player that he'll be sold/released/fined if his application doesn't improve and complacency could be prevented if the players are told they'll end up in the reserves for not concentrating

Players should come to me first with a problem. I hate reading that "rumours are circulating" that so and so is about to confront his manager. Surely we can use our own management style to decide if we want to talk to a player or ignore them, but they should definitely come to talk to us first

Managers often chat after games. Maybe this could be implemented as a way of improving relations or setting up deals?

Different events for the players to potentially improve/reduce team harmony:
Local boat trip = +/- 10% moral at a cost of 100,000.
Foreign training camp = +/- 40% moral at a cost of 2,000,000
Open day for fans = +/- 5% at a cost of 10k

3. Media Handling/PR management

High profile players should be allowed to attend press conferences with the manager or on their own. If a player isn't good at handling the media, maybe they could be asked not to speak as often while a player who is good at working with the media can be of great benefit to the club.
A PR manager could be hired to handle these situations and weekly reports could be sent to the manager.

4. A match day sequence ahead of big games.

At the moment, there is nothing to differentiate a friendly from the world cup final. A simple animated sequence where the team arrives at the stadium/signs autographs/pre match line up/lap of honour if they win.....something to make a cup semi final or final more important than an intra-club friendly between the reserves and youth teams

5. Training Ground

Manager should have some input. The board simply saying that they will improve training facilities isn't really enough. The facilities should be listed - indoor pitch, all weather running track, small/medium/large gym, small/medium/large medical centre, x-ray machine, AC Milan style oxygen tent!!!

6. Injuries

At the moment a player can be treatred in only a couple of different ways - physio or specialist - and neither cost extra money.
If a player is constantly getting minor injuries to his shoulder, preemptive surgery could be done during the close season to correct the problem.
If a player goes to visit a specialist, why can't there be different levels at different costs? Local knee surgeon can get a player back to his best after 9 months but the cost will be 20k, best in europe will do it in 6 months but cost will be 50k, world leader will do it in 4 months but cost is 100k.
treatments extra's should be included - x-ray is 100, MRI is 1000. Physio wants a better ultrasound machine, cost is 10k. Would make it tougher for small clubs but also more realistic.
