Revamp the finances, set wage limits more accuratly for exanple appearance fees should have a realsitc limit to the point where you cant go into debt because of add on clauses. Also projected earnings for the year and cost of travelling and sending players to specialists should be more prevelant?

Another thing that might help is if a player is unhappy with training then when viewing the squad screen an icon should appear next to his name like it does when he is concerned about something, then you can click that and the slight concern box can say unhappy with high trainign load etc, this would make things alot easier to monitor. thanks

I don't know if this has been said but i'd like to be able to vote for the world player of the year awards. I know it's not like we watch the players week in week out on the game but it would be nice to be included instead of the usual message stating how each manager gets 3 votes etc.

i would like to see a training update. instead of just "aerobic, shooting" catergories perhaps you could see a timetable of the week with timeslots and then you could choose activites for that day and the timeslot with a dropdown menu.

activities like weightlifting to build strength, running/sprinting to build pace, 5-a-side to build off the ball movement and positioning.

simple way for a training regime and much more easily in control.

A small thought, sometimes between matches i go on holiday to speed the game up and on this version if i set to return for next match my ass man does the press conference for me and messes it up causing a bad performance on some occasions therefore is there anyway of having an option to return before press conference, maybe if the best way to do this is to change return for next match to return the day before next match, incase there is a press conference, thanks.
I used to do this but had same problem, I figured out that if you set "continue game timeout" to instant in preferences, then the game will skip through until your next 'red' inbox message, which will either be match or press conference - hope that helps

I don`t know if this has been mentioned in this monstrous thread but here is my suggestion...How about having an option to have a director position available similar to the position that Dennis Wise has at Newcastle Utd. It would be a challenge to manage a side with players that you don`t have a choice of who comes in ....just my 2 bob.

I would also like to see the board not more or less threatening you for making suggestions i have pulled my team from nowhere to the championship and they say theyre sick of me making request they should appreciate what i have done for them more, and if the A.I is to stupid to not automatically upgrade facilities often enough then we shoud be allowed to suggest it as much as we want.

    Thanks

    Default suggestions patch or FM10

I have been playing FM09 for quite a while now and am becoming more and more frustrated with the tactics and the lack of information in the game not having been developed enough whereas the press conferences which were developed in my opinion haven't added anything to the game....
i would like to see more options within the tactics especially as whatever i do with my goalkeepers options he cant seem to get a passing percentage over 40 per cent ever which means his rating is poor unless he makes numerous saves, also there is not enough options to control stuff as all seem to be on a slider rather then having overall methods of playing etc.
also i think that more parts of prozone should be included as this would help more and more with the improvement of the game experience and help improve the team/tactic more.

My wish (and apologies if this has already been mentioned):

During a match, when a player has a small injury (Green cross displayed), I would LOVE to know what kind of injury he has!
eg: It's 20 minutes in and my guy has the injury but his fitness still says '91'. Is it a dead leg?, a bruised thigh? a gash on the arm? Shall I sub him or leave him on?

IRL a manager would know immediately what was wrong with the player (which kinda makes it easier to choose whether to sub him or not, don't ya think?)

I have here a suggestion,to make arranging friendlies easier. So you see, clubs IRL,go on tours of countries for their pre season. Now I know,we can do it in FM,but often, clubs reject etc.How about trelling the ass man to set up a tour of Sweden, which he automatically does ?

I would like the option to tell my reserve and U18 squad to play with the same formation as my first team (not the same overall tactic as it is now).

I currently have a very attacking 4-4-2 diamond set up for my first team. I would like the reserves and youth to also play with a 4-4-2 diamond so the players get experience in the same positions as the first team. However, an attacking setup might not be so good for them due to their status in their respective leagues.

I would like to be able to tell my assistant, 'yes play with the 4-4-2 diamond but alter the mentality etc. on a game by game basis'.

Anyone else agree with this and know what I mean?

Sorry if this has been mentioned but there are too many pages to check. I would like to see the option of making a player train with the youth team if they miss behave or play really badly. Sometimes fining them just doesn't satisfy the rage or frustration that some players can cause.

    Negotiating contracts

As it is now when you are negotiating contracts the player will let you know how much he wants and the contract offer is automatically set to the players wishes.

You give a counter offer and wait for a few days for the player to make up his mind. If the player rejects the offer he will give you the reason(s) for doing so and you can make a new offer.

Now the bad part that i want changed is that when you do offer the second contract, the values of salary etc. are back to what the player wants. This makes it really difficult to remember what your first contract offer was set to. Especially when you have multiple negotiations going at the same time.

What i want added is that the values of the contract don't revert back to what the player wants but instead to my last offer. I can still see what the player wants at the top and don't need to remember that. That way i don't have to remember the details and i can increase the relevant parts of the contract until we reach an agreement.

    Something for lower league management:

Being able to deal in hundreds of pounds.

    For non-league clubs there's a big difference between £0 and £1,000

I remember when St Albans bought Gary Elphick for £150!!!

It would also give me some kind of transfer budget to deal with.

I just thought of something, when you are advertising for coach, scout, etc. you should be able to specify target ranges for some of their skills, so you don't have to look at all the applicants.
I was looking for a new scout just now and had to look at about 20 useless (c. 8 ability c. 8 potential) to get one decent (13,13) and one v. good (16,15) scout.

I don't mind the time frame but looking at a mass of people who are just chancing their arms should be my secretary's job.

    Default "Unsackable" Option

My bad, I posted this into a different thread before I saw this wishlist one...

Is it just me or should there be an option you can select where you could play through a game and never get sacked? Don't get me wrong, I'm very competitive and I play like it, but having to start over with a new team every time you get sacked sort of sucks for those managers out there who just want to have a go at one particular team. My suggestion is to include such a 'Can't Be Sacked' option so that you can play feeling assured that you don't have to start over if you make a huge error or your team goes awry in the table. Sometimes people (or again, is it just me?) want to play for the fun of it, doing what they want to and trying to live a fantasy life of being a manager without all the pressure of having to start over. Sort of a sandbox mode if you will.

I'll give you an example: In last year's version I was playing Bognor Regis. In two seasons I had them promoted into the Conference Premier and not only gotten them out of the red, but also made them a few hundred grand. I got great players and received no complaints from the players or the Board. During those two seasons I wasn't expected by the Board to do anything other than mid-table mediocraty in the league farther down (can't remember if it was North or South). BUT...instead of getting a new contract they decided to go with someone else. I absolutely did not get that. I poured a lot into just those two seasons and I felt extremely jipped that with all the positive headway I made, I still had to start over. Incredibly lame. I was so mad that I abandoned the 2008 version for the last 6 months before purchasing 2009.

I would think it not very difficult to include a No-Sacking option in the game. All you'd have to do select a checkbox to disable the board from sacking you and instead offering you a new contract every spring. That's it, that's all, no harm no foul. Everything else could remain the same. Suggestions/comments?

The main thing i would like to see on the next version is chairmen stats pages. This could include things like estimated wealth, relationship with you, buisness accumen, financial stability, expected involvement in running the club, commitment, patience with you. The chairmen could also take economic downturns and no longer be able to fun the club and even encourage mass sellings; as seen at portsmouth currently. this would make the game more realistic.

Simple request. Add an option to have the player names of your entire team showing in the 3d mode.
Yes, you somewhat know where your players are/supposed to be and you can sometimes recognise them say if someone is bold or red-haired, but this just makes things a bit easier.

In 2d mode you had jersey numbers to go from.

Three areas of focus for FM10:

    Training,
    Newgens,
    Set-pieces.

These are the weakest general areas of the game at the moment.

It's kind of already in the game. If you click a player's name during a match you can see what type of injury it is, "potential foot injury", "potential groin injury" etc. But I agree, it would be nice to have a bit more info about these knocks during matches..

    Default New Idea For FM2010

i think it would be intresting if they started a 2 player mode where you and your friend can be a management team so one of you is the manger and your mate is assistant manager this also opens up a mode where you can begin your career path on the game as an assistant manager and work your way up i kno you can do this now as an international manger you cna give a friend the u21 job but i would be good to do it at club level because then you can give him the option to run your reserves and u18 teams and maek him run pre season and contracts or press confrences stuff u make make the computer do now and not happy with what they do

    1. (I think I may have already mentioned this somewhere in this thread before)... The ability to ask/order a player to work on his weaker foot. In my current game, I have signed a DR/L whose natural position was DR but his foot was 'left only'. I think I should be able to ask him to work on his right foot if he's going to be playing at right-back!

    2. A 'knock-on' effect with new position training. If I sign a player who can play MR and AMR, and I want to train him to play on the left, then I shouldn't have to choose between training him as ML or AML. I can understand if he could only play MR that it would make sense for him to only be able to train as ML, but since he can play both MR and AMR, I should be able to train him as ML and AML (I hope that all makes sense). I think I'm right in saying that currently if I trained him as ML and then once he was 'Accomplished' trained him as AML, his ML ability would deteriorate.

    3. A certain degree of transferability between positions, particularly the wide positions. This is vaguely linked to point 2. Given the way wingers switch sides these days, it would make sense to me that a right winger would have skills that he could transfer to playing on the left and vice versa. Obviously, there is a debate to be had over whether a player like David Beckham would adapt as well to playing wide on the left as Cristiano Ronaldo does, and so this won't apply to all wingers. However, I would like to see it in full-backs as well, since again, I am asking my player to fulfill the same role, just on the opposite side of the pitch. I don't think it's reasonable that my right-back should have a shocker simply because he's being asked to play left-back. It might make sense to link this ability to switch sides to the player's ability to use either foot, i.e. if he is 'Right only' then he won't be as effective at left-back as a right back who can use either foot equally well.

    4. The ability to ask for a specific amount of money to be added to my transfer fund. For example:I am a Championship club. I have £500,000 left in my transfer budget, and I want to sign a player for £650,000. If I ask the board for more transfer money, they do one of two things: (a) refuse, or (b) agree and give me something like £2m. I only want another £150,000! I don't want the board to put the club in financial jeopardy by giving me £1.85m more than I need.

    5. I want to be able to ask a player to work on a specific aspect of his game. I have a regen in my current game who can play DC, DM, MC. His defensive stats are pretty good, but other than that his technical stats are mostly single-figures. I want to play him as a DC, but his heading is only 10. I want to be able to ask him to concentrate on improving his heading since I am satisfied with the rest of his stats. I also have a very promising goalkeeper who would be my first choice if it weren't for the fact that he has 8 for positioning, and this has cost me several goals when I have played him. If I could ask him to work on his positioning then it would save me having to sell him and find another keeper as good and as cheap. I'm not expecting him to get 20 for positioning within a year, but it would be nice to be able to get it up to 13-ish within a couple of seasons.

    - Don't try to emulate real life football. Most football matches are not very interesting to watch, and watching 60 games that emulate real life football will never be a success. Especially if you do manage down the road to make it 100% realistic, which it luckily isn't right now.

    - Less emphasize on tactics. This is a footy game, not a tactic simulator.

    - Make the big teams better at buying players(this has been improved though, but needs more).

From another thread, but I thought that might as well go in in here.

Sorry if these things have been mentioned before (I'm quite sure they have), but I can't be bothered to read ~a billion posts in this thread

    Here we go..

    - Transfer negotiations: What I'd like to see is maybe a new screen called "negotiation table" where both parties canstart off with their initial offers/demands and adjust them in round robin fashin.. that means, the bidder improves his bid, the seller then has a chance to lower his demands. It would be brilliant if the AI tema swould tell you things like "we're not willing to discuss the matter any longer, take it or leave it" or something similar. The Anstoss Series had something like that ages ago, and whilst it wasn't perfect, it was really excellent.

    - player contract negotiations: see above

    - multiple bids for a single player/contract of that player: it would be a nice feature if a player that has offers from multiple teams would, before making his decision, put some demands on the table that would make him join your team rather than another. You can then accept these demands or let him go. If then again multiple teams accept the new demands he could come back once more until only one team is left. -- of course you'd need the exception if a player does have strong team preferences and does either not want to join a particular club or wants to move to a certian club anyways.

    - Feeder clubs... - When the board asks me for a specific feeder club I'd like to have feedback from the club I'm about to target if they are actually willing to form an affliation with my club. That would make it easier to choose from a number of clubs the player may want to have an affliation with. For example, I'm despertely trying to get a second work permit feeder club rom an active league. AFAIK that leaves Belgium, Poland, and, for South Americans, Spain. However, I just can't get any of the teams, even without existing feeder club, to become my feeder club. The only feedback you get is that no link could be formed and you have to wait a couple of months before trying again... maybe this one is not really a negotiation but I feel it is linked.

In my opinion these areas lack interaction between the involved parties. It is just pure trial and error and does not feel linked.

IRL, if you don't just say "I won't sell" or come back with ridiculous demands (say, 4 times the offer), clubs would not just pull out of negotiations, especially when 2 days later they come back with the same or a slightly higher bid.

When you're trying to buy, certainly you wouldn't offer, say, 2 million, being asked for 4, then offer 3 and being asked for 5, but that's what happens in the game (occasionally, but hey). At times, it is/feels random.

Imho, negotiations are one of 3 areas that can and need to be vastly improved in order to move this game forward. The others are tactics (well, the slider system) and training (which currently does not seem to have any real effect on player development rates..), but that'S a different story.

    Trophy Cabinet
As SI already have the licence to run the competitions, apart from the premiership, majority of EU competitions are there and national ones. Do SI need a seperate licence for the actual image of the trophy? I would have thought this was a package, if it is already licenced then we should certainly have a trophy cabinet, somewhere to see whats outstanding, what we haven't won that we possibly could.

    Real World Ticker
JimmyIOCS thought this was a bad idea, and i can't understand why, FIFA 09 has a virtual ticker and its quite handy to keep up to date on your current team. The amount of time spent in FM you might miss something. Seems like a good way to keep up to date with whats happening in a league or team of your choice.

    Football Manager Profile

I want the world to see every intricate detail of my game, what i've spent, the trophies i've won, my preferred tactics, all of this could be exported via the web and hosted up on SI. It would create a social network element to support the game. FM boasts one of the, if not the, most loyal community ever, get it interacting.

    Career Earnings
These should be able to be invested in the club through stocks/shares or setting up a foundation at the club that you fund yourself once you have earned enough, this could then increase your chance of developing some really really good home grown talent, as your spending a little more than most in youth development.

    Set "Short Term Plans"
As a manager you should be able to set a Short Term Plan, instead of it always being blank, whats the point in having it there? You could choose from a list of options such as "Go on a winning streak" or "Concentrate on winning home games" these could see an increase in player morale or confidence in you for addressing the current issues the squad face.

    Sending Players to Specialist
Send to Specialist is already in the game, but i think it should be expanded, there should be a choice of who to send him too, and different recovery times, give you the option to chose, you may want him to travel to america and be out for longer, but that particular specialist is "World Class" and trade a longer recovery period for a higher chance of that injury not recurring.

    Communicate with Fans
Maybe have an option to chose a prescripted comment to post in the matchday program, may inspire fan confidence a bit more, i've noticed there is no way to directly interact with fans, and i think it has a huge effect on how the board judge you.

Opinion Shows / Phone In Shows
These are a huge part of the football world, and could provide enhanced feedback on how the fans think your doing. Basically would be an extension to the Media module, but would certainly provide something fresh.

    League Tablss show more Data
League tables should show recent form, for example the last 5 games, if you look at Sky Sports football league tables, they have 5 blocks that are the results of the last 5 games. green for win, red for loss and grey for draw. You should also be able to drill down in the league, and be given a graph of your current years progress similar to the sky sports system its really good.

It would be far too confusing though having items relating to both the real world and your game world. FIFA 09 may have a virtual ticker but it doesn't bring you transfer news relating to the game in the same way, if at all (have only tried out the Be A Pro mode)

I'm a big supporter of being able to show more data and present it in a different way. It might not appeal to the mainstream but for stattos like me it would be useful.

Yeah i have to agree there Ter.

The way that date is presented provides so much more context and promotes understanding, you can really see where the team are falling short or where you need to improve, by displaying a few nice graphs and some more detailed stats.

I would love to see the same system that sky sports use put into FM. Im not saying copy, im saying take their idea of displaying data and make it your own.

Just look at how much detail is available within one click from being on the league table screen.

So theres Sunderland sitting in 12th place, i can see the form from their last 5 games instantly just from the colors. Now if i actually click the "Form" (those 5 colors) watch what happens ...

^ how cool would that be in FM!

is it likely the 'slider system' will be overhauled for something more obvious or a graphical interface added to represent how offensive eatch slider notch is?

i dont think the tactics>match engine are veery clear personally

I would like permissible wage structure to reflect antecedent wage structure

Case study: Internazionale, who pay Zlatan Ibrahimovic £170,000 a week before the game starts. But you cannot renew his contract at any higher than £135,000 a week.

Default Re: Wishlist: What you would like to see in future versions of the game. All 'list' i

These may have already been posted but here's what I'd like to see in future FM's

    Stadium/Training:
How about potentially having more say in the matter when it comes to your board expanding your stadium or upgrading your training facilities. On a few other games, you can decide yourself how big to build your stadium, I'm not saying that it has to be that dramatic, but it would give you a say in the club as you are the manager. To be able to visually monitor the progress using computer generated stadia (like those in LMA Manager?) would be a great addition to the game, if possible.

    Interaction:
Although it has been improved in the years, the interaction is actually pretty poor. e.g. I would like the odd occassion when my player is in trouble away from the game, as a manager i can publicly react to this which will effect my relationship with the player.
Media: When I attend a press conference, I don't want to be repeatidly answering the same questions every week with only five possible mindless answers (that also seem to have answers on a scale of 1-5) I dont think the questions asked are realistic. A real life journo would not ask a manager "Relegation rivals Blackpool are away to QPR this afternoon, what do you make of thier chances?" first of all i'm sick of answering this question when i'm 30 games into my season and sitting comfortably in 6th place therefore i am not in danger of relegation, also, when your following question is the same but referring to Plymouth's match then you just want to storm out!
Board: I've mentioned it more below, but the ability to have a relationship with your chairman i think is needed.
Players: Just more options, freshen it up a touch. Maybe more of an insight into how what you say to them will actually affect the game, some times it can be hit/miss.
Fans: Again, more mentioned below, but this is probably the most important relationship in football. Without them onside, a manager is struggling. You should be able to interact towards the fans in order to form a bond, the manager of my football team is adored by the fans, not only for his managerial performances, but about how he talks to, and about, the fans.

    Contracts:
First of all the board are too slow in renewing your deal, regardless of how well you are doing. For players, and managers/staff there needs to be more options e.g. a player can leave for £15m if there is an offer made by the "big four".
Also, when renewing contracts, any players doing well for me request ridiculous wages, or even, are just not interested in renewing their deals! Players should be more open to contract extensions, players playing well in real life don't all want to leave on a free!
A post was mentioned above saying about when players have multiple contract offers. When reading about real life transfers for my local team, alot of teams are attracted by the stadium and the fans for example. You should be able to sell your club to a player, rather than have to offer ridiculous wages.

    Board requests:
When making board requests you should be able to justify to the board why your needs should be met. Also, when you have your monthly summary, you should be able to discuss the current state of the club and the future, rather than just being told. The chariman/manager relationship is very important and you should be able to build on it.

    Better/More Feeder Club Options:
Yes you can select a specific type/club after a while at a club, but selcting a club never works. I've been looking for a team to send my talented youngsters out to with my Swansea team for 6 years, and I've only been given the option of mediocre clubs where my players will reject. Maybe the option of selecting a range of leagues to search for a suitable team from would be appropriate. And when you select a specific club, if a deal cannot be completed, then maybe a few suggestions of other similar teams who may be available to form a link with could be added, this will be more useful than the board pretty much saying "better luck in a few months time".

    Training:
As much as I love, and am addicted, to FM, the training always disappoints me. The training, and your scheme's seem to have no relevance. They some how need to be vastly improved, otherwise, just disgarded.

    Fan Trouble:
Again suggested above, and again this would create more interaction between the fans. Again, it doesn't have to be dramatic, but this happens in football and therefor is likely to happen in FM.

    Board Confidence:
I mentioned it a little above, but this part of the game disappoints me so much I thought it deserved it's own section. I'm six years into my current game, and with my two teams (Swansea City, AFC Telford) I've had great success. After two impressive finishes in the Championship with Swansea, I won the league to get to the Premiership. There I finished 11th in my first season, before a very impressive 6th place finish in the next season to qualify for the UERO Cup. However, at the start of the season, my board are still satisfied with my performance. If I was the chairman of that football club in that situation, having exceeded all the expectations, I'd be more than satisfied. And with my Telford team, 4 promotions in 5 seasons, and a play-off finish in the Championship, again, SATISFIED! It should be easier (not easy!) to impress the board.
Also, when you sign some players just trying to build your squad, or signing a youngster, the fans confidence should be so low, as it is only a squad player. Granted if they are a big money signing then it is fully justified if he is not performing.

    Tactical options:
I watch Swansea City every match in real life, and every match you watch you can appreciate how they are set up for the current match. However, on FM, you can have as many sliders as possible, but you don't get to feel how your team is set up to play in the current match, and what style of play they will try to carry out. Also, you have scout reports before a match, and although it suggests players you may wish to mark etc... it doesn't give you an insight on how to set your team up to play the current match.

    One Last Thing:
Granted it isn't major, but please show away attendances, as many fans as you get at home, it's nice to see how many fans you take away. And if this is put into the game, it would be nice to see the allocation you were given.

Ridicule/Agree with my idea's as much as you like, but hopefully a few of these little points may be popping up in future FM's.

TEAM TALKS! It's a must. I don't just want to be angry with the team, i want to go ballastic, needs more choices or scrap the whole element altogether, it's a gamble as to what happens when you select something.

Let the ass. man. do the pre-match individual assignments (closing down etc.) i am doing what he says anyway, but cost me a lot of time and clicks.

Give option to take over the first team coach assignments for the youth team.

Have a widget that lets you switch through different tactics you saved before during the game.
Be able to adjust sliders in a widget.

Option to put multiple players on transfer/loan list with the multiple player marking option via string.

Havin multiple options if a new stadium is built.

    Sliders
I'd like the sliders to be simplified to 11 'points' each rather than 20-odd, ie 6 being dead centre, 1-5 being short passings/slow/narrow, 7-11 being long/fast/wide. This'll make it a bit simpler for people complaining its too complicated whilst keeping the complexities of a unique tactic. Also the 'points' should be consistent- at the moment the sliders aren't divided into equal points, near left of centre there seems to be a half-point which is pretty lazy.

    Injuries
Whether it be through assman (or should it be physio in this case?) interaction- "Joe Bloggs appears to have tweaked his hamstring", or in the tactics screen, we should definately, definately be able to see what injury a player has when he picks up a knock in-game. Its been noted that at the moment if you click on a green-cross-injured player in-game it takes you to his profile where it says "potential leg injury" or "potential head injury", but a head injury could mean concussion (serious) or cut (not serious). Leg injury could be a bruised shin (not serious) or a pulled hamstring (serious).

My idea as an alternative would be to add a third coloured cross- green for walking wounded (incorporating bruises/cuts/muscle tweaks), orange/yellow for fairly hurt (pulled muscles/sprains/concussion) and red for serious (broken bones/dislocations/torn muscles/ligament damage) etc.

    Player Instructions
I'd like to see player instructions similar to team instructions- predominantly the inclusion of a width slider. You can control the longitudinal mentality of an individual player with attack/defence mentality, why not have a latitudinal one which gives the option of playing a tight, narrow formation away from home which, when you get possession, the wingers peel away and look for space on the touchline.

    Contract negotiations
Additional clauses for player and manager contracts. Ie,
    • giving a player a pay-as-you-play deal
    • adding a clause such as "a new contract guarunteed if you play X games/score X goals/keep X clean sheets"
    • on loan contracts, adding a clause that a player can be recalled after a certain time. My team, Brighton, loaned out a young striker Jake Robinson who we need back due to an injury crisis but we can't recall him until after 28 days.
Also when signing a player for the club, tell him what your plans are in the same way as you do when you sign a manager-contract, ie we will avoid relegation/push for promotion. It shows your ambition to the player and if you struggle he could become disgruntled *cough*Modric*cough*Bentley*cough*all Spurs players*cough*

    Transfer negotiations
Its been said before but they have to be sorted out. The selling club's answer to your enquiry should be the ceiling of their request. If a club has a £2m player they're asking £4m for him, and they're given an offer way over it, say £3m upfront and £3m in installments, they would never, never say no. They know he's really only worth £2m, the only reason they're asking for £4m is to be given an offer better than he's worth and therefore financially advantageous, or to scare the buying club off. The final fee of £6m would definately get accepted, provided it wasn't (a)a rival club, or (b)they wanted the money up front. In which case they should accept £4m upfront, not re-negotiate to the £6m you offered in installments.

    Press conferences
A lot of people are saying more questions/answers but I would be inclined to lean a different way.

Option 1- just sort out the wording, its so ambiguous on some questions I don't know what I'm answering. Example:
Player X seems to capable of playing at a higher level. What do you think your chances are of keeping him?
I couldn't agree more/I can see that view/I have nothing to say/I'm not sure about that/I completely disagree.

By choosing 'I'm not sure about that', am I saying 'I don't think he can play at a higher level' or 'we won't be able to keep him'? And what the hell would I couldn't agree more mean?!?!?

Option 2- allow press conference questions/answers to be more customisable. My understanding is that people would be able to edit them like the database, or like skins/facepacks etc. It seems they're not so customisable, and yet there I would put my house on there being loads of people willing to put together really comprehensive, immersive question&answer packs that could be downloaded in the same way as other graphics or community edits.

Press conferences should also be advanced with being able to call your own for a new signing- in which you can tell the world how Player X fits into your plans. This links nicely with...

    Fan/Chairman Feedback/Interaction
Again its been said before but if I buy a 17y/o for tuppence and don't play him for 2 seasons I don't want my fans annoyed. They should understand he's a hot prospect, and not featuring is not an adverse reflection on his talent, or potential thereof. If a player's happiness can be coded to be linked with (amongst other things) his squad status, fan reaction to a player should also be linked to that status. Similarly if a player gets injured he shouldn't be seen as a bad signing. If I buy a first team player who breaks a leg on day 1 and is out for 4 months, the fans shouldn't be on my back about not picking him.

Well. That's my 10 pence (or 10 quid, whichever way you look at it). Hope its taken on board.

    Some suggestions...

    Assistant manager
User able to become assistant manager to enhance their reputation.

    Alternative training
Manager can take their team on an alternative training trip depending on their budget, e.g. taking the team to Dubai for team bonding, etc

    Sideline talking
Manager shouting instructions from the sidelines during the game

    Transfers
Some clubs have a structure where the manager buys the players, whereas some have a footballing director or something similar. Have that instilled at certain clubs to reflect on the current way of footballing life.

Please, please, please, something for people playing in the lower leagues...

When I defeat relegation with a team that was supposed to be relegated (whenever that happens anyway), there should be the same party on the streets and greetings from the board as if we were promoted...right now, all I get is...nothing. At all. Come on, not even a "the town of ____ celebrated ____ team staying in ____ league, when all odds where against them."

you know, something that makes me believe that FM is also for managers who dont win trophies, but win relegation battles...

One thing more that one of the previous posters has inspired me to suggest:

Pre-saveable opposition instructions. I usually set my opposition instructions up in an almost identical way for every match (close down everyone in midfield and attack, show the wingers inside, and strikers onto their weaker foot etc.). I would like to be able to save my opposition instructions and apply them to the relevant positions (i.e. save a set of instructions for strikers, and then in the opposition instructions screen have it available in a drop down menu next to the player's name), rather than having to click repeatedly at the beginning of every match. I think this must be possible since FM has pre-set tactical instructions for your own players available in the 'Set to' menu at the top of the tactics screen.

Also, I'd like to see the opposition instructions have more effect. I always tell my players to show the more attacking members of the opposition onto their weaker feet, but I don't see a noticeable difference.

This might only appeal to PSP gamers, but how about the option of transfering your game save to PSP format?

That way you can play your game saves on the go!

I've said this before but I'm going to say it again because I think it should be a necessary addition to the game:

Another level of past manager experience to fill the gap between Pro and Semi-Pro. That is too broad a category and it leaves too big a gap between the jobs each can take as an unemployed career game manager.

    It should be something like:

    International
    Higher reputation Pro
    Low reputation Pro
    Semi-Pro/Non-league
    Amateur

Far too often I find myself divided between starting as an ex-pro unemployed manager and an ex-semi-pro unemployed manager. I know that as the former I can get jobs in the Championship, but the latter will leave me waiting for jobs in the BSS/BSN, with many being turned down. There's nothing in between unless you take the higher bracket and self impose limits.

Give us the Serie D and Eccellenza. More lower leagues would be great. Licensing wouldn't be difficult since they aren't in any game. Also more options for press conferences and more communication options.

Impossible tbh, due to the huge differences between the games. FM09 PC has a lot more on it than FMH.

It would be great if a set-piece designer was introduced into the game, but it should be tested good enough to ensure that there won't be any "super-designs".

Also, it would be nice to have the oppotunity to set up a training game between your playes, as in real life.

The option to completely hide attributes, so you never see them in a game. Already got the option for attribute masking, but I'd love an option to completely remove attributes, even for players in your whole squad. It's tough at times not to just reduce players to a bunch of numbers, I'd like to be able to have to decide on who I want to buy based on past performances, stats, scout reports only etc.

    Another couple of ideas:

Outgoing transfers on the confidence screen.

This might not always be the case for the biggest clubs, but I think it could be a great addition for all the others. The fans' confidence in the signings is important, but is only one side of the transfer dealings 'coin'. Have I got enough for the wonderkid I've just sold? I've made a profit on the troublemaker they didn't like me signing last summer, are they happy? I've released the club legend because I can see he's shot it, but is that a PR disaster? Are they glad I offloaded the talented but injury-prone winger who's been in and out of the side for the last five years?

    More detailed coach reports

If I send my scout out to watch a player three times, he comes back with a report that has three or four sentences in each sub-section. However, despite working with my current players every day, my coach can't muster more than a brief sentence. I think there's room for more to be included in the coach reports.

One area I would like more feedback on would be the mental attributes of my players, particularly their reactions to criticism and praise, and how to motivate them, e.g. the coach saying player A "likes a challenge" which could signify that my team-talks for this player would be more successful if I followed the "I expect a performance from you"/"Prove a point!" line than the "I have faith"/"You can make the difference" line. This could evolve as the coach spends more time with a player.

Not sure if this has already been said, what about something to explain to your players why your withdrawing them from an international squad. For example, you could have Important league/cup game coming up, just back from long term injury/not match fit or something like don't want player involved.

    Implement Button

I'd like to see an option that allows you implement your Assistant Manager's Feedback during a match. It would save you from having to flick between his feedback and the Opposition Instructions screen.

It's a small change that would make a difference. I get the sense that a lot of people don't enjoy the current way assigning OIs work.

An implementation button would be a good addition to the game.

Be able to save your own Player Instruction presets just like you can save your own tactics.
And in the same way be able to save OI presets. (Like, any AMC, always close down) and just assign the preset each match instead of individual players :@

Another option regarding assistant manager is the ability to automatically select reserve/unused players for a cup game in the ask to pick,

Reason: If I am involved in a not so important competition, I would like the assistant manager to select players that do not play much in the league (like Ferguson in MANU).

1- A button to select if we want the ass man to implement their recomendations during the match. Closing down, tight marking, weeker foot, on a especific player. This will simplify the game experience... as it is today I simply don´t bother with that aspect of the game. And sometimes I feel that my team would perform better if I do what the ass man says me to do.

2- The possibility to make zonal marking when defending corners kicks. Or a mix between zonal and manmarking.

3- The possibility to select witch player will manmark a specially dangerous oponent. I see too many times one of my smaller players beeing chalenged by a big oponent and at the same time my DMC with 190cm is marking an oponent outside the penalty area!!! IRL the manager says to all his players who he will mark, specially the more dangerous. Now we have almost no control over this feature.

We do have "Mark Tall Player" and "Mark Small Player". But I agree that more control would be nice.

A much more detailed interaction with the board is a must, especially in teams which are in constant media limelight, and from countries where there is intense media concentration on football.

So for example, a detailed end-of-season conversation/interaction with the chairman where he tells you how he thinks the team performed, you performed and you recap the season. You could include conversations about which players you think are going to star in the future, explain yourself in certain situations (I haven't been using these young players this season, but they trained well, and I plan to give them a bigger role in next season's campaign), set your priorities (I really need a DL), ask for financial management (if I sell a key player or 2, can you invest the money in Youth Facilities to get them to World Class?)
For example, at the moment in real-life, Olympiacos chairman is offering contract renewal to manager Ernesto Valverde, and one of the stipulations is: "You must take full advantage of the whole squad." and he is referring to 2-3 young footballers who rarely featured this season. The chairman was unhappy that certain players did not feature at all, and were always outside the starting line-up and not even on the bench, such as winger Mirnes Sisic who eventually had to be released on a free transfer.

Also, the Olympiacos chairman also said that the manager should take full advantage of our Brazilian striker Diogo, as he is considered a top asset of the club. So, if you choose to rest him during a Champions League game even though the player is fit and has not violated any disciplinary procedures, the chairman would be unhappy, as he has already declared to the manager his intentions that he is a top club asset, and hoping to sell him on for profit in the future.

Basically, to avoid the game becoming tedious season after season as it always has done in all versions, a detailed interaction with the board, the fans and the media... Every time you rest a player, or leave a player outside the starting 18, or choose to change tactics etc. you would get REACTIONS from media and fans always, and at times, from the board, so you can see that your week-to-week management of the team has REPERCUSSIONS/effects. We know there are effects we just want to be more aware of them!! Media can give lots of credit to a manager for a particular win (handles substitutions correctly, chose a wise starting XI) or praise players collectively or individually (Kaka took his team from the hand and led them to victory today, or all the players played well, nobody was lacking). You want to know exactly what they think of your signings, the way the team has been performing, the way you handle substitutions/tactical changes during a match... You can have the fans consider a player to be a 'manager's favourite' and depending on the player, the fans and board could agree (Experienced player, positive influence etc.( or disagree (player is performing badly, have a younger player in his position we want to see play more) etc.

Also, to re-iterate, media/board/fans news items on how they perceive a lot of your choices, so as to give us the managers a better indication of how we are performing. It is nice when you sign a player and the 'Fans relish to see him in action' or 'Player x believes new signing y is set to shine'. Include that more in the week-to-week managing. For example, a recap of every round's games: Olympiacos' Belluschi is continuing his good performances in midfield, and it is apparent that he is gelling more and more with the team.'

Chairmen with high intervention should also intervene in player transfers, at least in cases of signing young players. Neri Castillo was signed by Olympiacos chairman when he was 16-years-old without taking into account his manager... So a young star could be signed by the board and you could get a news item like: Chairman x believes the player to be an exciting prospect for the future, and he hopes the player will flourish under your guidance. Castillo was eventually sold to Shakhtar Donetsk for 15 million euros, and throughout his 6-7 years at Olympiacos, many managers tried to get rid of him/not play him, but the Chairman backed him up every single time, and he was eventually proven right, as he made a huge profit! So when you come to a club, there are certain targets/priorities already in place regardless of the manager. So if you went to Liverpool, you would be expected to rely on Gerrard if he was available, and benching him for no reason for consecutive games would have huge repercussions (If you win, you're glorious/genius, if you lose a large % of blame would go to you).

Also, player interviews, to get an indication of how they perceive the tactics, the squad, the way the manager treats them:
"Though I don't mind playing anywhere my manager tells me (High professionalism indication), I have enjoyed playing behind the striker the past few matches. The manager gives me a lot of creative freedom, something which has helped my game."

So as from an interview excerpt as the above, you can get an indication that a player is professional (doesn't mind playing anywhere), and that you are taking advantage of his preferred playing style, by giving him a lot of creative freedom.

Moreover, a club, a manager, and a youth set-up should have reputations based on what kind of players come out of their squad. So, every year, you get a certain amount of new players into your youth squad. For the hands-on, committed manager, even though he recognises many of them won't be able to feature in the starting line-up ever, the manager will still take the time to train them, tutor them, play them occasionally... And so after a few years, the player might be released or sign for another club, and he could be at least 'Grateful of his time at Olympiacos.' 'Feels he learnt a lot whilst at Olympiacos.' Or a player who is in the youth team for 4 years, never plays, never gets tutored, no loans etc. should rightfully feel upset at how he has been treated. So, from any 10-12 new players who come through in the youth team, the ones you don't release immediately and keep on, should have some rightful expectation of at least improving/developing as players, if not necessarily to make it at their current club. If you improve their CA/PA, take the time to interact with them every so often, you could develop a good reputation for having good player skills or man management...

As for the set-pieces, they definitely need improving, but couldn't that be solved (at leats temporarily) by rather than giving set-piece instructions, we can have a % of threat we are from set-pieces, depending on who and how many players on the field are good in the air, which players are available to take the set-pieces etc.

So, for an attacking free-kick, having a free-kick taker with 17, and 2 players with jumping/heading 17+ would give you something like 85% efficiency..

I think that it's time to think about Football Manager 2010:

    - More pretty and clean 3D match view.

    - New cameras in 3D view. It would be good to have fully customizable camera.

    - Stadiums and their upgrades in 3D view.

    - I have idea of board meetings. It's when you as a manager talk with board members about upcoming season or season that has just been finished.

    - Trophy room. It would be pleasant to see all the trophies that you have won. Clicking on any of these trophies can bring to Final match for it (if it's not league).

    - Improve manager profile. It's still quite useless.

    - Possibility to view how values of player attributes change during his WHOLE CAREER.

    - I think it's time to add some new features to FM tactics screens.

    - Get license for national team of Germany

The beforegoing features were taken from True Football Manager expects following FM 2010 features.

I'd personally like to see the attendence figures for each game split into two, so I can see the away attendence. Could then link nicely into the board putting on free travel for the big games (i.e. West Ham have done this for us a couple of times, Wigan away in our great escape season, and, more recently, Middlesbrough in the FA Cup. This could then be linked into the team talk, for motivation etc.

    Even more suggestions:

    1. More options on the 'Transfer Status' screen.

I'd like to be able to select more than one option, and perhaps include a "Reject all loan-to-buy offers" option. That way I can select "Accept all loan offers" without worrying that my star youngster will be snapped up for peanuts by a rival who loans him in with a very low agreed price all because I've automatically accepted their loan offer. Also, if I'm interested in loaning a player out but don't want to sell him, it would be nice to be able to select "Reject all transfer offers" and "Accept all loan offers" at the same time.

    2. Manager attributes.

Is there some way we can get the game to show attributes for "Judging player ability/potential", "Tactical knowledge" and "Motivating" for the human managers? Not being a programmer myself I don't really know how this could be done, but surely there could be a way to compare a player's CA or PA with the standard at which they are playing (i.e. a Premiership player probably needs a CA of about 150, so if I'm signing players of 120 and under, I get a rubbish rating for "Judging player ability"), or seeing how many times I fire up my players with my team-talks etc.

This could be useful for seeing which areas the human manager is weak at. Do they sign brilliant players but not motivate them well? Can they get the best out of limited players, but tactically would they struggle to think their way out of an open field?

    3. Manager relationships (part 1): Other managers

I would quite like a list on my manager profile of the managers who I am friends with/consider me a friend, and also a list of my rival managers, much as there are for clubs and players on the club "Information" screen.

    4. Manager relationships (part 2): The media

As well as the other managers, it would be nice to have a list of friendly journalists. There could also be a way of starting rumours using this tame hack in order to either unsettle a potential signing or generate interest in order to offload someone in your own squad.

    5. A pitch-side view in the 3D match engine.

    6. Conditions in the contract.

"I'll sign, but only if you invest in the training pitch"

    7. Summer transfer budgets being announced a little earlier.

I frequently miss out on signings because, having spent all my previous season's money, I have to wait and can't afford to buy players. This is usually the case in late May/early June.

    Here's my ideas!

    --1-------------------------------------------
I would like to have the option to (just like when my players leave for international friendlies) tell my assistant manager how much a player should play in the reserve-team. This would only apply for players listed in the first squad. For example: one of my players might get back from a recent injury, and i want to have him fit for the next game in 5 days. I tell my assistant manager that he should only be allowed to play for 45 minutes in the reserve-team match tomorrow, just to get a game in him.

    --2-------------------------------------------
Speaking of injuries. In real life, players coming back from injuries might sometimes get the same injury again, in practice or in the gym etc. This should also happen in the game sometimes. Especially with players who have been injured a long time.

    --3-------------------------------------------
I want to be able to talk more with my players, individually. As it is now, its very static, and i have to go trough the press. Maybe i wanna say something like "you've been playing very good lately, keep it up, i know you can" or "im expecting more from you. Show me that you want to be a part of my first team the next game" etc, but instead i have to talk to a member of the press.

    --4-------------------------------------------
At the start of the season, i would like to have a meeting with my team and go trough the expectations of the season, what type of football i would like for us to play, what i want to improve etc. For example: Im the new manager at Rochdale. I tell the players at the meeting that this year, we will play 4-3-3, with counter-attacking as our main focus. The players might react confused or pleased, and during the pre-season, i get reports from my ass-man on how the players are improving/or not during the training sessions. "Our three midfielders have trouble keeping their positions, but our wingers look really comfortable with this style. John Doe especially has been looking wery good these past two weeks."

    --5-------------------------------------------
I would like to have more time during the pre-season. As it is now, i start the game, and the next day we play Chelsea reserves away. I should have atleast two weeks before the players get back from their holidays.

    --6-------------------------------------------
Please, PLEASE make the crowd-sounds more realistic. A League 2 game at Christie Park sounds just like a Premier League game at Old Trafford. A pre-season friendly sounds like the Champions League final. This is really bugging me, and has been for a long time.

    --7-------------------------------------------
Lastly, i would like to NOT have to watch 5 minutes of nothing happening every time i make a tactical change during the game. I make a substitution, press ok, and i have to watch the game for a few minutes before someone just happens to get a throw-in or something, and the substitution gets made. I know that the sub cant be done at just any time, but i shouldnt have to watch nothing happen, know what i mean?

    Thank you!

I'm not looking through 40 pages of replies so I'll just post my thought.

I read someone's post regarding Maps to show your location while playing a match (in game obviously not where you are sitting on your PC!) and it got me to thinking about coach rides to games for the team.

I thought about a new addition to the game where you as the coach have to make sure the team are ready and organized to be transferred to the location of the game whether it be the morning of the game or a week before for euro ties etc.

Would just be an extra responsibility like training etc that could be passed over to the assistant if you didn't want to do it but might add a small new element to the game and could easily be incorporated into interpersonal relationship stats/etc between the manager (you) and individual players who become a problem (or are well behaved) in this part of the business of pro football.

Another couple of thoughts (apologies if these have already been mentioned):

1 - Something on the finance screen that tells you how many home games are sell outs.
2 - Along the same lines as above, being able to see how much a match day ticket costs.
3 - The option to ask the board to increase/decrease match day ticket prices and season ticket prices.
4 - Related to point one, in the board request screen, the option to ask that the board looks into building a new stadium.

Messages in your inbox from the board on your birthday
specific crowd cheers for certain teams and boos for players that the club dislikes
bring back the ability for longer tactical arrows

when offsides occur, switching to the linesmans view, who should be in line with the last defender, and then stop as soon as the ball is played and show whether he is offside to help managers decide to criticise referees

You can already do both of these (the latter you have to ask them to expand your current one first).

Hello I would like to see ability to search players history so you then look up all the player were played for Rangers or Everton.
I would also like to have the ability to international teams against club sides as Pakistan V Bury 00/01 and Pakistan V Coventry City the same year.
Further more what about goal celebrations when you score like Tim Cahill boxes the corner flage after goals etc.

Bring back the compalints about ref after matches.

    yours

Please can you implement more interaction as regards to Upgrading Stadiums or more so - Getting a New Stadium

Once you get refused due to planning permission, there should be a button available to 'Request a New Stadium' - and then it doesnt leave us managers so much in the dark like it currently does

You can't just "Request a New Stadium", that's an absolutely enormous investment!

If you have your team selection screen before a match, you should be able to see all players with a backup / hot prospect / youngster / not needed status under your first team. This is very handy if you got for example 3 players injured and need to take players from your second/youth team.

    Example:

I would like to make a suggestion for FM10. I think it would be great if you could become an assistant manager. I have been playing FM08, and started without a club but every time I try to apply for a club they are not interested, for understandable reasons. I think if you had the opportunity to apply for the assistant managers position then you could obviously run the reserves, which would enhance your reputation. This would also be a great way to learn the ropes for amateurs like me. And you could also recommend players for your manager.
    What does everyone think.

Sure it will have been asked before but:

Maybe use the Nintendo consoles: Wii, DS.

Would be great fun to play this game on DS with the touch screen, and maybe a phone version of the game!

    a better managerial profile screen

For some reason all the big clubs in Italy and England are coming in for me, despite my stats being incredibly low: 5's/ 8's e.t.c and only one blue (Financial Control)

Plus the knowledge is a bit weird, for some reason i have knowledge in countries like Belgium & Senegal where i have no players of these nationalities, but i dont have knowledge in countries like Poland and Greece, whom i have managed?
