Was going to try and go sub 1000 in terms of club reputation, but eventually gave up and went for FC Halifax, as I grew up in West Yorkshire, so local linkage.

Ladies and gentlemen, it's profile time.

Right, I must have loaded up over 50 times. It's time to announce the new manager of:

    Truro City

Wanted under 1000rep. But the way I figure it, Truro is going to have a very low attraction attribute. So it might be harder to entice players/fans than if I was in London.

Say hello to the new Wealdstone manager

Am I the only one having problems signing new staff?
My board will only let me give £70 per week for a scouts and so far I've not found one willing to drop that low and I don't have any scouts and I don't start with a scout. I've still to start searching for a new ass man and coaches, so I'm certain that they'll be even harder to recruit.

I think that will make this challenge even harder as we won't find getting in good quality staff so early in the game.

If anyone is interested I've uploaded the following saves, these are with a large db and the top players from all of the continents:
    Cambridge City, FC Halifax, Wealdstone
    FC United, Tonbridge

Nothing better than that first transfer window in this challenge so much fun going through every single scouting report.

Sorry a bit unrelated. but my screenshots are pretty small. Is there any way to make them larger, without reducing the resolution of my monitor?

yes. Look at the opening post.

In addition this year, for those of you who want to add to the database to make things more competitive at the top level in the long term, you can set the database level to custom to add the players for the top clubs in each continent. It should look like this. This is purely optional, but no extra players can be loaded on top of this, this is the limit.

Would it be possible to boost the rep of a team so they got promoted, then immediately return it to the proper level? Or would that have some grave repercussions in the game like ridiculous expectations?

Unfortunately it breaks the rules, we have always stuck to a strict no editors rule, whatever the circumstances.

    I hate Salisbury so much.

I might have to go with Marine, at this rate. Kendal is the lowest I have so far.

what are you using to take them? I'm just using alt+printscreen to capture only the FM window. Then paste into either paint, paint.net, ect.

Well it only took 3 reloads and I got the Urchins which allows me to present:

Wavelberry the new manager of AFC Hornchurch.

Here's the squad and from what I can gather my best youth player. I can't get a best player yet as I don't have an assiatant manager. Squad is paper thin and we're predicted 22nd. Gonna be a long hard season I think. This is what it's all about.

In fact, has anyone got a 24th June save with large db and top players from all continents? That'd be really helpful.

Holidaying as i type, got Chipenham to the premier for the last year but then got stuck in an yoyo situation and in the end gave up, might go for them if they come up again.
Either way has to be a Sub 1000 rep team, its the only way real men play!

Can't sign a scout for love nor money. They start their negotiations at £230 and I can only offer £85 max.

This is where I am as well. While in the past we could offer whatever our max was and they would accept, with negotiation we dont have this option. The assistant I really want wants 110/wk and i can only offer 95 It's only 15 difference! Can't I just spring for lunch one day a week to make up for it? I think its going to be just as fun when we start getting to players! Should make for a much tougher first few years.

I feel bad for the assistant i started with though. His only job so far is to filter out unrealistic possiblities for his replacement...

    I think so - C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\football manager 2011\data\updates\update-1110\db\1110\edt

I have since put it in C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\football manager 2011\data\db\1100\edt
...after it didnt work in the first place. But it still doesnt work....any idea?

EDT: sorry scratch that. That'lll teach me not to look at screenshots! I was looking for an editor data file, which of course this isnt!

I found an ass man (John Durnin) who's half decent for this level, all he's lacking is tactical know how and discipline. I also eventually found a scout with 7 JP and 11 JPA (Lionel Meade) both are real people so they might sign for other small clubs.
So gone are the days of signing scouts with 13+ in JP and JPA, god help us all

For all those Gareth Bale moaners in GD and on the Tottenham thread. I just checked my players list and guess who is the 2nd most expensive player in the world at £35 million (a shiny penny for those who guess who's top)?

I've gone with Harrow Borough after umpteen reloads.

    Here is my profile.

I'll upload the save if anyone's interested.

If anyone comes across a save with Marine promoted (with large Db and top clubs from each of the continents), I'd appreciate if they could chuck it my way

Just had a chat with my board about a parent club went like this:

Me: Can we have a parent club in order to get good loans in?
Them: No we dont want to rely on loan players
Me: Think your underestimating how important this is
Them Ask as much as you want it wont happen! Now is there anything else?

Still in Pre-Season, managed to sign Jo Tessem on a free, hopefully he will help out our midfield, brought in some Scottish trialists too, hopefully 3 or 4 will sign

Exactly the same for me except I tried the old "it'll be financially awesome" tactic. Didn't work either.

Dick Smallberries, the ******* deserter, has left Halifax and signed up to guide Marine to Merseyside greatness.

Media prediction is 22nd, the squad look like a bunch of muppets, but the board agrees that we should link with a parent club to get loan players in.

I won't be starting the challenge this year, after my exploits with T&M I really need to try something a bit different. I may be back later though.

ASHTON UTD FC – BLUE SQR NORTH

    PRE - SEASON 2011/12

    MANAGER PROFILE ONE
    MANAGER PROFILE TWO

World Cup winner, Alan Ball, debuted under his father for the club back in 1959. Now I hope to emulate just this, have my son come through and go on to be a world cup winner. But, it’s highly unlikely. No less, I would like to produce some world cup winners in the distant future.
    SQUAD
Admittedly, some of the players in the squad aren’t too bad – The best player, according to my current assistant is that of a 37 year old – 5 stars apparently. There is however, always the assurance that we have good bread on our team with a certain Mr Warbuton playing as a striker. In all, the squad is pretty thin – just one goalkeeper for example. The staff is, well, nonexistent. An assistant and a youth coach – both of which look pretty incapable of much. Time to get some people in.
    EXPECTATIONS
The board are simply asking to make an attempt to avoid the drop zone, which the media think is a great possibility – pitching us to finish 21st, most likely behind Vauxhall Motors. Personally, I was hoping for a safe mid table position.

    ---
Just want to wish everyone else good luck, and that I can upload my other save files (Marine, Tooting, Harrow, Ashton, Worksop etc) if need be.

They said it would be out by the end of the day on a couple different forums.

No new post for awhile makes me think they are finishing it and uploading it.

GREYEDOUT MAN TAKES OVER AT TOOTING AND MITCHAM

Following the disastrous promotion of his favoured Boreham Wood last season, GreyedOutMan has chosen Tooting and Mitcham's Imperial Fields home in Morden as his new stomping ground. GreyedOutMan is said to be very excited about his new project, and hopes to bring unprecedented (ok, I know, not really Dafuge!) success to Tooting - who knows, he might get the Freedom OF Tooting one day! (No? Sorry, I'll get my coat). Updates to follow!

Thanks! I used it on my Fm10 saves too, makes it feel that bit better when I look at my profile.

Thanks Terk. Hopefully all goes well. Bookies have given me odds of 16-1 to go up, which aren't that bad odds. So perhaps the squad have something more than what the eye can see.
