Game working fine, then crashed now won't even load (on Mac)

Game was working really well on my Mac, flying through my pre-season then it unexpectedly quit with the error message:

Football Manager 2011 v 11 . 0 . 0 rc 150727 quit unexpectedly

I've tried reloading the game (via Steam) a few times and it now continually crashes just before the Start menu would appear (once all the sponsors, licence issue etc has run)...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can you try removing the 'Sports Interactive' folders from the following locations and trying again:

User > Library > Preferences

The demo code is the same as the full version but hopefully you won't have to keep doing this. Unfortunately this isn't something that I have encountered on any of our Macs in the office (or on my iMac or Macbook Pro at home) so I'm really not sure what has caused this issue.

Are you by any chance using MobileMe? FM2010 had an issue at a similar point which could be solved by disabling iDisk, it's a bit of a guess but it might be worth a look?

No no, not at all. The final game will be absolutely fine on Steam. The issue was that the version which is currently on Steam is a couple of weeks old thanks to a mistake at our end. I was able to play FM 10 without problems on my macbook but my macbook seems unable to run the FM 11 demo. When I click the icon nothing happens. I'm afraid that 10.4 is unsupported and has been since FM09, sounds like you've got lucky if you've been able to play FM10 on it as it was unsupported then as well. Unfortunately you'll need to upgrade to 10.5.8 or 10.6 in order to play FM11

From your specs the game will run but it's right at the lower end of minimum specs and the graphics card will really struggle with the 3D, i'd say it probably wouldn't run it at all. I personally would want to upgrade the machine itself rather than just the OS but obviously the decision is yours.

Looks like it as the crashed thread has two calls from the Steamclient with regards to LogOn.

@darkbright have you tried deleting local content and starting from scratch as well as clearing cache etc?

I cleared all previous si games related things prior to pre-install. I'm not that technologically brave to delete things. What would I need to delete?

Can you try removing the 'Sports Interactive' folders from the following locations and trying again:

User > Library > Preferences

&

User > Library > Caches

The above can be deleted safely (you can go one level more and just delete Football Manager 2011) and from within Steam you'll have the option, if you right click on FM11, to delete local content. Once it's all gone re-download from Steam and try launching FM11 again.

So...

Have removed all of the cache, preferences, steam and deleted all files relating to si and steam. Did a fresh download and install. The game will run once.

However after that it crashes at the same point.

Sadly it's happening to me too, game bought on steam, everytime the game reaches september, 4th of the first season it will crash with a: Football Manager 2011 v 11 . 1 . 0 f 157086 quit unexpectedly.

In the meantime I have a secondary save of the same game, the original save game when game was created, no transfers made, i'll go on holidays until the crash date and check if it has something to do with transfers, as at my last signing I had to re-adjust the transfers budget to complete the transfer, will post the results later.

I have been playing fm2012 for around 2 months now with no issues on Macbook Pro 13" 2.4Ghz 4Gb Ram

Within the last week it has begun crashing each time I try and play a match, saved game or new game. I can do all other functions in the game except actually playing the matches.

Any help would be grateful!
