Which would be the better system to run FM including the 3D match engine?
I am presuming the first one?
Intel i5-2400 Quad Core 3.1 ghz, 6MB cache + HD graphics
ASUS P8H67-M LX SI Micro ATX Mainboard, LG1155, SATA 6.0gb/s
4GB Samsung DDR3 1333mhz
1GB ATI Radeon HD5770
1TB Serial ATA 3-Gb/s Hard Drive with 16MB cache (7,200 rpm)
Intel i5-655K Dual Core 3.2ghz, 4MB cache + HD graphics
ASUS P7H55-M SI: Micro ATX Value Mainboard, SATA 3.0gb/s
4GB Samsung DDR3 1333mhz
1GB ATI Radeon HD5770
1TB Serial ATA 3-Gb/s Hard Drive with 16MB cache (7,200 rpm)
3D is easily high on both.
First one will be twice as powerful than the second one.
The second one is outdated crap.
ThanksI selected Belgium, England, France, Holland, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Scotland and Russia and game speed was 2 stars. Do you think I would be pushing it a bit trying to include the Danish league making it 40 leagues from 12 nations? I would like to add USA league and maybe Australian but that might be too much.
If I ran a brazilian league or argentine league would it mean I will be more likely to get decent players from them countries coming through once the current players in the game have retired?
My spec again is
Apple Macbook Pro
CPU Intel Core I5 2.4 GHZ
Memory 4GB DDR
Graphics card intel HD and Nivdia GeoForce GT 330M

Don't buy either. Whats your budget?
my budget is not high around 500 euro would either work
Hey guys.
I bought the new Macbook pro with the express gaming purpose of playing FM (plus all the day-job things).
I got the low spec 13 inch:
Dual Core i5 2.3 GHZ Sandybridge processor.
4 GB Ram 1333 MHZ DDR3
HD 3000 Intel Graphics
How many leagues should I be able to run for a game?
I noticed someone say on this thread that the "stars are flawed" - in what way?
Thanks
Whats the maximum number of leagues/players I should load of up for a long term game?
Intel i5 750 Quad Core @ 3.7ghz
8gb DDR3 ram @ 1600mhz
Windows 7 64
I know i have a powerful system but I'm never sure how far I can push it without it becoming too slow.
You can get better than that in that budget. If portability is not a requirement, you can consider a desktop.
You can also try asking Wakers here

Better than the first (Graphically).
Had this computer for a while, but for various reasons I've never really had a big FM game going. Just wondered how many leagues I can play, I don't use the 3D engine so that doesn't bother me.
Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 2.4 GHz

Just wondered if anyone could tell me how many leagues and players i would be able to load on this system and will the 3d engine work?

Hi Ishu,
this week my new laptop will (hopefully) be delivered. This thread was very useful when deciding what laptop to go for, so thanks.
I decided to be patient and wait for all of the Sandy Bridge problems to pass by, and I finally purchased the next configuration:
Processor: 2nd generation Intel Core i7-2630QM processor 2.00 GHz with Turbo Boost 2.0 up to 2.90 GHz
Memory : 6GB (1X4GB + 1X2GB) 1333MHz DDR3 Dual Channel 1 SR
Hard Drive : 640GB Serial ATA (7200RPM) 1 SR
Graphics : 1GB NVIDIA GeForce GT 550M Graphics Card 1 SR
Operating System : Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium (64 BIT) 1 SR
How many leagues would you recommend? And would it be possible to run a game with ALL leagues turned on (I realize this may slow the game down after a few years)? Or is there some kind of maximum?
Thanks in advance
Hi how many leagues will the new top end 15 inch MacBook pro run?
2.2ghz quad core i7 with turbo boost to 3.3ghz, 6mb cache

1gb Ati radeon graphics
Thanks

I have always played Fm on pc, however recently i received a laptop as a gift, i know it is not that powerful but i have to be seen to b using it lol. So i have yet to install fm11 on it but donmt think it will run that well any ideas guys? Heres the spec acer 5552 - AMD Athlon II X2 P320 2.10GHz Processor 3GB RAM, 320GB HDD
Hi mates,
Got a problem here. In order for me to play FM well, ie fast processing speed and high on 3D graphics, i've bought a new laptop. Listed below are the specs:
Intel® Core™ i5-460M Processor 2.53GHz
Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium 64-bit
500GB Serial ATA 5400rpm
6GB DDR3 SDRAM (max. 8GB)
ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 5650 Graphics with 1 GB DDR3 of Dedicated Video Memory
However, i've managed to solve the problem of speed. My System 3D Rating only gives me 2 and half star. Please oh please the wise one, is there anything i can do to improve my System 3D Rating to 4/5...?
Thank you.![]()
My old laptop is struggling along at the moment and I'm wondering just how bad the spec actually is.
I've got a Dual Core 1.66GHz processor and 3GB of RAM. I'm running Windows Vista.
I know for FM08 and the older versions, my laptop was pretty good, as it only needed a dual core 1.4GHz processor and 1GB RAM.
These days, for FM10 and FM11, the box says I need a 2GHz processor - is that a Dual Core one?
Anyone have any idea how many leagues I could run and what database size it would be best to use? I wanted to try a journeyman save with quite a few leagues loaded if possible.
I'd be grateful for any answers to my questions. Thanks.![]()
New laptop needed, budget of approximately $600. I've had success with Dell's in the past & get a decent corporate discount for purchasing from Dell.com.
But I'm not sure what I should buy, the options appear to be between:
INSPIRON 15R (List Price= $529)
New 2010 Intel® Core™ i3-370M (2.4GHz, 4Threads, 3M cache)
4GB DDR3 Shared Dual Channel Memory + 500GB 5400RPM HDD
or
INSPIRON 15R (List Price= $579)
New 2010 Intel® Core™ i5-460M (2.53Ghz / up to SC 2.8GHz / 3M)
4GB DDR3 Shared Dual Channel Memory + 500GB 5400RPM HDD
The only difference between the two options for $50 seems to be the support of the i5 for Turbo Boost technology, and the general consensus that the i5 is better than the i3 processor.
Any thoughts/suggestions?
@Roycebrown, I would go with the i5 it is newer and more powerful.
Hi,
How many leagues and players can I run on this laptop?
Processor - Intel i7-2820QM 2.3GHz with turbo boost 2.0 8M cache
Ram - 8GM DDR3 1333MHz
Hard Drive - 500 GB 7200RPM
Graphics - NVIDIA GeForce GT 500M 1GB
Windows 7 64 Bit
Thanks
80 .
12 leagues.
Is that the maximum you would recommend for my laptop specs then Ishu? Or could I squeeze a few more out if I use a small db?
Yeah you can.
Say around 15 max then?
Ishu,
How many leagues can i run on this setup for a long term career game.
Genuine Windows 7 Professional x64
Core i5-760 @ 4Ghz
4GB 1600Mhz DDR3
ATI 5770 1GB
750GB Hitachi
Thanks
Can FM actually utilise as many cores as your PC has? As I thought I read somewhere on these forums that the maximum it can utilise is 2?
Every match is one thread. So FM can utilize as many core as there are matches (on that day).
I even have posted a screenie showing FM using 8cores.
Day to day processing is singlethreaded.
Ishu,
At the moment, i've selected leagues from England (up to League 1), Spain (up to Liga Adelante), Italy (up to Serie B), Argentina (up to Segunda Division), Germany (up to Bundesliga) Scotland (up to Premier League), France (up to Ligue 1), Portugal (up to Portuguese Liga), Holland (up to Eredivisie). The Game Speed Star Rating gives me 2 stars. Is there any way i can improve on my game speed?
Listed below is my laptop specs:
Intel® Core™ i5-460M Processor 2.53GHz
Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium 64-bit
500GB Serial ATA 5400rpm
6GB DDR3 SDRAM (max. 8GB)
ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 5650 Graphics with 1 GB DDR3 of Dedicated Video Memory
Thank you.
Ignore the rating.
Try to open FM, select these leagues and check rating. Now close FM and repeat. It will give you a higher rating.![]()
i was wondering which desktop is better and i have a budget of £700 so if any one can recommend a better desktop please do theses are the two

Hello guys,
I hope you can give me hand in this. I always played the FM in my desktop but since the 3D arrived, well, it just wasn´t good enough (Pentium 4 Intel 2,6 ghz, 2 gb RAM, NVIDIA G-Force 5600 FX 256 Mb) and for the past two years i was down playing in 2D and in a very slow motion. Last week i got a problem with my graphic card, pushing it to hard i guess, so i decided to finally go for a new laptop where i can go to the net, work on office and adobe programs and, mainly, play FM right.
The thing is, i have no clue for what to search for. I have a budget for about 500-700 euros and i really don´t know where to look.
For what ive been reading, RAM should be 3 ou 4 Gb, the processor a Duol Core from Intel better than 2,6, a good hard drive from 350-500 Gb and a graphic card...here is where i really don´t have a clue.
Could you help me with this, telling me the best graphic cards to play the game right (fast with 30 to 60 leagues at least) since the other tecs seems to me that will work out fine...but the graphics are trully killing me. Seen lots os laptops from HP, Asus, Acer, Toshiba with the first 3 categories almost correct (a little more or less on the hard drive a little more or less on the speed Duol Core) but im lost with the graphics so if you could enlist me the main ones, the ones that will make the laptop work on this FM and the few next (i know a good laptop lives for 3 to 4 years only) i would thank you very much!!!
Cheers mates!
I'm currently shopping for desktop parts to assemble into a system. Now, the only games I play are Football Manager 2011 and World of Warcraft and the two chips I'm considering are the i5 2500k & i7 2600k. All the benchmarks I've been reading say that an there is a minimal difference between the two chips, so I'm leaning on i5 2500k if this is the case.
However, Football Manager 2011 isn't like the games they test. So, basically, I want to know what will I notice in FM 2011 using an i5 compared to the i7?
I'm guessing I will be able to load much more leagues with the i7 and it will run smoother--but is it A LOT more leagues and A LOT more smoother than i5?

I need the "great one" (Ishu) to help me
If you had up to £500 to spend on a new laptop, what would you buy?
I'm in the market for a new one. Would love to have a MacBook Pro but can't afford one and not convinced it would run FM2011 well in 3D.
I want to be able to play FM2011 with the 3D match engine.
I just need a couple of suggestions. There is too much choice.
Thanks Ishu

Hey folks I was wondering what is the best gaming laptop I could buy for £1200?
- Needs to have a really good graphics card ( able to run Shogun 2 comfortably)
- Needs to have a fast processor to run a LOT of leagues
Help would be much appreciated
Anyone please?
Laptop thread buddy. Post #1474

How would this Samsung Q430 fair? Around £500, maybe could do with a gig more Ram and a slightly bigger screen but the rest looks pretty good for just under £500, no?
Just purchased new laptop and eager to start new game! (Previous laptop was Windows XP 1.5 ghz, 512 MB Ram, integrated graphics so anything new at this point is a severe upgrade)
Intel i5-460m Dual Core Processor (2.53 GHz 3MB L3 Cache with Turbo boost to 2.8GHz)
6 GB DDR3 Memory
1GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 DDR3 graphics
7200 rpm Hard Drive (but that shouldn't change much of anything right?)
Please advise how many leagues would be good for a long-term save. Looking forward to loading more than 3 leagues and the quality regens that I will start seeing! Thanks.
Hello community.
On behalf of a friend I am laptop buying, with the main priority being "run FM perfectly, lots of leagues and full database". The friend in question has a budget of approximately £350.
Any of you good people have any suggestions?
Hi,
I was hoping someone could help. I'm wanting to buy a desktop computer and would very much like to get back into football manager. I haven't been able to play for years due to a rubbish laptop! I just dont know what desktop to get as they vary so much in price, etc, it's a bit of a mindfield for me. I primarily will be doing work on the pc and internet browsing. The only game I am likely to play is football manager but I want a pc that can last and handle the game because I have been told the more you play the more room is used up on the computer so I need a desktop that can handle this.
I hope someone can help advice me what to buy. Thanks

How many players can I have loaded up with
an i7 QM740 1.73GHz (Turbo to 2.9 GHz)
6GB of Ram
Geforce GT 425M 1GB Garphics card
500 GB Hardrive (7200 rpm)
Actually - scrap looking at the second post above - that laptop isn't on the agenda anymore!
I've seen this Toshiba i5:
RAM Size: 4 GB
Processor Brand: Intel
Processor Speed: 2.66 GHz
Processor Type: Intel Core i5
Hard Drive Size: 500 GB
Computer Memory Type: DDR3 SDRAM
Operating System: Windows 7 Edition Home Premium
Graphics Card Description: Intel GMA HD
Display Technology: LCD
Response Time: 16 milliseconds
Light Source Type: LED
Anyone (hopefully Ishu) know how many leagues this would run? I only watch the matches in commentary so aren't bothered about viewing the matches in full.
Right - now scrap that one above!
Wakers over on OTF has recommended me this one:
HP Probook 4520s
Screen size - 15.6 in
Processor - Intel® Core i3 370
RAM - 4 GB
Hard Drive - 640 GB
Operating System - Windows 7 Home Premium
Graphics - ATI Mobility Radeon HD 530v
I've gone and ordered it seeing as it looks a great deal at £450.
Ishu (or anyone in the know) - any ideas on how many leagues it will run?
Difference between Sandy Bridge and older i5/i7 CPUs seems really big. Can't wait for the results of Bulldozer CPUs, before I decide which one to get.
Given AMD's recent history, I wouldn't hold my breath that much... Whilst I think AMD Bulldozer can certainly challenge Intel's i3 range, I suspect Intel will have the edge in the i5/i7 region. The days when Athlon 64 was awesome are unfortunately very distant now...
Granted, of course, it's a new architecture, but they will really need to pull something special out of the hat to challenge Sandy Bridge's efficiency and value-for-money.
Hey guys, seeking your expertise regarding malware and its removal...
Earlier today my wife was browsing the net and a popup appeared saying it was MS Removal software and the PC had 38 trojan's/virus/etc. Anyway, unfortunately she clicked on run scan and then the PC was infected with the virus (at the time I was running microsoft security essentials virus protector & it did nothing). Anyway, I booted back into safe mode and I deleted the .exe file and it's folder from the program data folder (running win 7) and then I restarted and the popup wasn't coming up anymore. So I installed ZoneAlarms Extreme Security. I've run a virus scan and zonealarms is saying nothing is there, but I wanted to ask my friends here if I still have to delete it from the registry/somewhere else on the pc or if zonealarms is saying there is nothing it is ok? Do I need a registry clearer or anything or should the PC be fine now?
Any thoughts or input would be apprecaited
Cheers
btw, apologies for the post being non-fm related (although if there is something still there it could stop me playing fm properly..) but I immediately thought that you guys were the right people to ask for guidance in this matter.
ishu
A few weeks ago you suggested i will get the following
Intel Core i5 2500K 3.3GHz Socket 1155 6MB Cache Retail
Gigabyte GA-H67A-UD3H-B3 Intel H67 (Socket 1155) Motherboard - B3 Revision
Is there a cheap version but can run lots of leagues
Cheers mate
Whats the maximum number of leagues/players I should load of up for a long term game?
Specs:
AMD Athlon 64 x2 3800+
2 GB DDR
GPU:
ATI Radeon HD 5450 1GB
less than 10.
9 it is then. Thanks Ishu!
Option 1 (£420):
ACER 5742 Core i5 laptop with 4GB memory - Black
* Intel® Core™ i5-450M (2.4 GHz)
* Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium 64-bit
* Memory: 4GB
* 500GB
Option 2 (£530):
Lenovo G570
Part Number: M513ZUK
Intel® Core™ i5-2410M Dual Core Processor,
15.6" HD Screen,
Windows 7 Home Premium Edition 64-bit,
6GB DDR3 RAM,
1GB Dedicated Graphics
(A 4GB RAM version with integrated graphics is also available for £480)
I'm assuming the Lenovo will be the better option due to higher RAM and dedicated graphics, but is it better enough to justify the additional £110 outlay?
Lenovo's CPU is better than Acer's.
Do you need dedicated GFX?
If not, get the £480 one. The integrated can easily run FM 3D on high.
