740QM is a lot faster than 640M
740QM is a lot faster than 640M
I'm buying a new laptop today, i have these options;
1) HP- AMD Phenom 11 dual core 2.8ghz/4gb ram/win 7/ATI mobility radeon HD 5450 512mb....£500
2)Sony- AMD Phenom 11 Triple core 1.8GHz/4GB ram/ATI Mobil;ity Radeon HD 5145....£550
3)Acer- AMD Phenom 11 Quad-Core N930 2 GHz/3GB ram ATI radeon HD4250.....£500
4)Dell- Intel core i-3-350 2.26 GHz/1GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 graph card/4GB ram....£579
Conflicted as to which one to buy. Proccessor and Graphics are priority, as opposed to one more GB of ram over the other.
Any help please?
Can anyone tell me what I can expect from playing FM2011 on the following laptop:
AMD Sempron 1.8GHz
1GB RAM
Windows system rating 3.0
I've just doubled the RAM in my machine, meaning my specs for FM this year are
Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 @ 3.00GHz
4GB (4x1GB) CorsairTwinX XMS2, DDR2 RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GT card
Windows 7 64bit.
The Graphics card isn't amazing, this is because I had a 320MB XFX 8800GTS fail on my a few weeks ago which I haven't replaced yet.
Still, the extra RAM I added has improved the demo speed no end. I get to see the opening 5-10 minutes of games and everything!

Can you let me know how many leagues/players etc. I would be able to run with this laptop please.

Thanks!
any ideas how well this will run fm11. Intel® Core™ i5-430M Processor

Hi guys. I'm thinking of buying a new laptop for no more than £500.
I've found this one: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Acer-15-6-in...8023427&sr=1-4
Could anyone tell me how this one would do with FM, or suggest any better ones they know of.
Thanks for any help.
Here's a better one http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/hp-pav...74346-pdt.html
If you don't like that colour there's the white version http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/hp-pav...59636-pdt.html
ok... im a bit more aware on what im after now.. can anyone help me out and find something similar to these specs? :
-Good processor, ideally i3 as they are relatively cheap and seem to be much better then dual cores now
-At least 3 gb ram , ideally 4+ ddr3
-Dedicated graphics .. dont want integrated..
-HDD space is flexible.. ideally 500gb but obviously this is very flexible
no more then £500, give or take a few £ obviously
someone help me pleaseeeeee???
AMS
If you're willing to spend £50 you could go for this, which is better than the two above, http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/toshib...27246-pdt.html
Or this one http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/acer-a...82363-pdt.html
nice.. and thanks tiger .. but surely that processor is a little underpowered?
its sad... if this one
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Toshiba-Sate.../ref=de_a_smtd
just had a dedicated graphics option.. it would be perfect for most looking for a lappy on here
Correct me if I am wrong but having anything over 4GB of RAM is pointless?
Cool, well what do you think of this?
http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/hp-pav...87014-pdt.html
Slightly less powerful, but about the same price and part of me would prefer to get a 'brand name'. Plus I'm not too keen on the finance options at pcspecialist.

I've got a macbook...
core 2 duo 2ghz
3gb ram
how many leagues/players should i be running for a decent speed game? I run about 8 leagues and 18k players on fm10 but always feel i may have undercooked it, I like to play long term games.
ps looking at the new macbook pro core i5 or i7, how many would these be able to run. probably with 4gb ram.
FML the demo runs pretty slow on my current laptop so looks as though I'm going to have to delve into my pocket. And on further thought I don't have a clue on how to upgrade the family desktop so would probably be best off just buying a new tower. Any suggestions?
Yeah I will use the old monitor. Could I just replace the parts from within my box with the new ones, is it really that easy?
Yes, it is pretty easy. Can you tell me your specs?
I have a friend building a PC for me and I am currently specing it out (as he would have me spending thousands!). I want to run FM quickly but with as many leagues as possible - what could I get upto with this spec;
Processor (CPU)
AMD ATHLON II X4 645 (3.10GHz/2MB CACHE/AM3)
Motherboard
ASUS® M4A79XTD EVO: DUAL DDR3, S-ATA II, 2 x PCIe x16, 2 x PCIe x1, 2 x PCI
Memory (RAM)
8GB SAMSUNG DDR3 DUAL-DDR3 1333MHz (2 X 4GB)
Graphics Card
1GB ATI RADEON™ HD 5750 PCI EXPRESS - DirectX® 11
Memory - 1st Hard Disk
60GB OCZ VERTEX 2 SATA II 2.5" SSD (upto 285MB/sR | 275MB/sW)
2nd Hard Disk
1TB SERIAL ATA 3-Gb/s HARD DRIVE WITH 16MB CACHE (7,200rpm)
OS
Windows 7 64 bit
Will a SSD have much impact on the game speed?
Thanks in advance.
Yea it was down earlier for maintenance but it's working now. I have a £1000 budget, it's the best pre-built machine I've seen for under a grand.
http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/hp-pav...87014-pdt.html
Intel® Core™ i7-720QM Processor
- 1.6 GHz
- 2.5 GT/s DMI
- 6MB Smart Cache
Operating System Genuine Windows® 7 Professional
RAM 4GB
Graphics card ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 5650 Graphics
- 1GB Dedicated
500GB hard drive
Yea i thought so...what is confusing me is why this laptop is priced higher for a (apparently) lower spec?
http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/hp-env...87011-pdt.html
Surely the i7 720qm is better than the i5 450m?
Which one would u go for out of the two?
Ishu thanks for your input.
I have kicked SSD to upgrade the cons you highlighted. They are as follows;
Processor (CPU)
AMD PHENOM II X4 970 (3.50GHz/8MB CACHE/AM3) - BLACK EDITION
Motherboard
ASUS® M4A87TD/USB3: DUAL DDR3,SATA 6.0GB/s, USB 3.0
Memory (RAM)
8GB KINGSTON HYPER-X GENESIS DUAL-DDR3 1600MHz (4 x 2GB KIT)
Graphics Card
1GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTS450 GDDR5 PCI EXPRESS - DirectX® 11
How would this run? Thanks.
Ok. Will give some feedback then.
[QUOTE=Ishu;6026432]On 32bit OS yes. On 64bit no.
Thanks IshuI am running Windows 7 64 Bit, so FM will be able to see and use the 6GB of RAM I have installed?
Thanks
http://www.dixons.co.uk/gbuk/hp-comp...tab-tech-specs
Is this one OK, Ishu?
How many leagues and players can I run on following machine:
I7 720 QM 1.6 Ghz
4Gb Ram
Geforce GT230
W7 64
ok, after much deliberation.. ive decided to go for a desktop instead.. (more bang for my buck and a laptop can come later for web browsing etc)
so..... £600 budget.... whats the best gaming pc i can get? baring in mind the games in question will be Football manager , total war series and possibly the likes of arma 2
hi, Ishu, I have ordered a new pc not long ago, and would like to know how many leagues / how big the database I could run the game, I printed a pdf when I ordered the pc, I have uploaded it online and please take a look if you don't mind.
The link is here: http://www.sendspace.com/file/9xs00l
Thanks a lot.
Alex
These are my specs;
Operating System: Windows Vista Home Basic
Model: Dell Inspriron 530
BIOS: Phoenix
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo CPU E4500 @ 2.2GHZ
Memory: 1022MB RAM
DirectX: 11
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8300 GS
DAC Type: Integrated RAMDAC
Approx. Total Memory: 370MB
So yeah...
Ok. How much money do you have to spend?
What I'd do would be to upgrade to 4gb of RAM and upgrade your graphics card to Ati Radeon 5450 if you only use your PC to play FM.
Your proccy is decent, should be able to handle 20-25 leagues but can be upgraded if you have some money spare. What mobo (motherboard) do you have? I need to know so I can check if your proccy is upgradable and how many RAM slots you have.
Help me out please, How many for this?
Intel Pentium Dual Core T4500 - 2.3ghz
Intel GMA 4500M
3GB DDR3 Memort
320GB HDD
How many leagues and players?
I'm not sure about my motherboard(is there any site I can find this on?). Regarding the processor I was thinking of an upgrade to a quad core to obviously increased speeds and was also thinking about getting a windows 64-bit OS but that will set me back $250.
My budget after the sale of a few items will probably be around $600-$800.
Thanks for your help.
I am thinking about getting a new PC. This is my current "wish-list":
Intel Pentium i7-950 (4x 3066 MHz)
AMD Radeon HD6870 (1024 MB, 256 Bit)
OCZ 6 GB DDR3-1333 Tri-Kit
Asus P6X58D-E motherboard
Samsung HD103SJ 1TB (x2)
I will run Windows 7 64-bit on it.
Can anyone tell me what I can expect for FM2011 with this set-up?

30 leagues with 60,000 players
Yes.
If FM is using all of your 4GB where will windows and antivirus etc go??
And some softwares have the abilty to use more than 4GB. Withina a year or two more and more softwares will do that.
40 to 50 leagues with 60 to 80k players.
ishu.. you asked whether my £600 pc would be custom build or pre built.....
id like it pre built tbh
I used PC Specialist - http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/
My new PC was despatched today - pretty reasonable prices and a decent forum that offers good advice if your looking for a 2nd opinion.
My specs for the new PC are a few pages back but I did pretty well for just over £500.

Looks roughly the same as the other one, any thoughts Ishu?
Edit: looks like it's only a single core![]()

Fellas
Just bought a new PC (Athlon Quad Core) with a ATI Radeon HD 5400 graphics card. Should the latter be OK to run 3D in the demo, which I'm now downloading? Tried to run the 3D in FM09 tonight and whist I could set the detail to 'High' in preferences, it still only showed 2D.
*bugger* Any help appreciated.
Thanks Roman. Just a bit perplexed about why it won't with FM09. :-/ Oh well - we'll see how the demo runs tomorrow.
How many leagues and players would you recommend on this machine;
AMD phenom 11 Quad-core 2Ghz
3Gb ram
ati mobility radeon 4250
Thanks very much
Can anyone recommend a desktop pc (mainly for playing FM) for no more than £450??
I was considering this one..
