Look I am only 15, and have been playing Fm since i was 13 and was playing CM before that. I am wondering, do any other teens play this game? It's a great game but has really ****ed up school studies

I have played FM (and its old guise as CM) since I was was in my early teens and Im now 24.

It can certainly prove a distraction to school work (as my mum rightly said)....but Id say thats down to your personality. If FM didnt exist youd find something else to distract you. My room was never cleaner than it was at exam time. Still got a degree so not all bad!

I loved the game in my teens, I remember buying Robbie Keane from Wolves for Spurs and he was amazing. He then joined Spurs for real

Still I have a better understanding of football in general now Im a tad older and I am less impetuous - so now enjoy long term challenges (lower league and career games), rather than the more short term successes I had as a teen.

I must have been about 12/13 when I first started playing CM, it was people at school that told me about it. It was about ten years later when I really got into it in a big way, which may have been linked to signing up to these forums.

i started playing when i was 8 i think! CM2 on the commador with floppy disks!! i remember saying how rubbish the game was and its the biggest waste of time.....i was right i have wasted 16 years playing this game and not planning to stop anytime soon

...but that was the very first Football Manager by Kevin Toms on a Spectum

Oh and when I read people complaining about SI's Football Manager 3D match engine today, this is why it always makes me chuckle...

LITTLE KNOWN FACT: I joined the forums originally because of EHM07. Then SI stopped producing the game, wandered over to the FM forums, and the rest is history.

I'm almost 17 (just a few more days!) and I've played since I was about 8

Got hooked when I was bored and pestered my dad into buying CM00/01 for about a fiver 2 years after it's release and have bought every CM until the split. I bought CM08 and loved it but when no CM09 came out, I bought FM09 and haven't looked back.

I did take advantage of the pay what you want deal for CM10, but it was shocking, and I've played it for a total of 3 hours before going back to FM09 and waiting for FM10.

Sure my school work has probably suffered, but I did well in the GCSE's that have just come out and if it wasn't FM, it'd be Xbox/an online game or getting into trouble on the street.

I'm 16 at the moment, but I've started playing CM3 when I was 7/8. Of course, I made some ill-fated decisions such as buying Division 3 top goalscorer Jamie Cureton and Wimbledon striker Jason Euell to Man Utd.

But, now I'm older, I've learnt to play the game properly rather than panic buy or buy 'past-their-peak' players etc.

I've never looked back since.

It did get in the way of school homework as i couldn't be bothered and wanted to play CM instead, but i did well in my exams so it's not all bad.

35 now, been playing since the epic CM01/02 with the exception of CM4 which I wilfully skipped.

Absolutely loved them all to the point that I'm the one guy the boss can count on to travel places, after all, FM & Laptop are your friend in every train, plane, airport and hotel room

It is probably just down to my age/upbringing but I can't get my head around people playing CM at the age of something like 6. Things have changed a lot since I was a kid

I remember I had one called "THE MANAGER" and after that I had Premier Manager and then I started playing Championship Manager Italia.... considering I was born in 87, that makes me one of the youngest managers ever at the age of 5!!!!

I was first introduced to CM2 by a mutual friend. I had been involved in a short fling with a demo of ultimate manager and was fascinated, i admit the stadium graphics seemed a dealbreaker. A brief sermon on its shortcomings and the signing of Salas, Zinho and Mbo Mpenza to Celtic on CM2 saw to that. Around this time i also received a free copy of premier manager, which was garbage. Addiction peaked in early 00's. 97/98, 01/02, fm05 and fm06 stood out for me.

yeh look i really started playing CM when i was around 9 and my footballing knowledge is really amazing! It's a great game but takes up a lot of social time! And didn't think so many teens play it, as it can be a bit of a complecated game.... but good to hear!

Unfortunately I am now too old to remember when I started playing the game but I do recall CM3 as being the great leap forward in football management games. I was working at a computer games company at the time and remeber thinking how much better CM3 was that anything we were doing.
