Failed to Set up Graphics System - even with DirectX

Having recently encountered the error labelled 'failed to set up graphics system', I installed Microsoft DirectX SDK (June 2010) upon the advice of many websites. Although the game is now able to load, it is very slow and some features have been removed, including the ability to watch matches in 3D.

Does anyone know what the problem is and how I should go about solving it?

Please download the following update from the Microsoft Direct X SDK:

When downloading this file please use the Firefox browser as some people have encounter difficulties when using Internet Explorer.

You should also check that you are running the latest graphics driver, you can do this by visiting the computer manufacturer website, or by visiting the graphics card manufacturing website.

Also if you are running Steam, make sure this is not running when attempting to install

This was posted by Neil Brock in the FAQ. If even after having the latest DirectX does not work, try updating your drivers.

Thanks very much. I know this is now totally unrelated to FM, but do you know why no graphics card is being detected when I search for it?

What do you mean when you search for it? Search for it on the manufacturers site to get an update?

If your system is not detecting a graphics card then either there isnt one fitted ( unlikely ), or it is not installed properly or it is faulty.
