Retiring numbers

Can you retire numbers in the game? I was thinking about it, maybe retiring Yaya Sanogo number when he retires or Danielle De Rossi. Obv not retiring Totti number because he wears 10. Does the player need to stay on the for 10 years or something. Does it tell you the option when the players retire?

It's not a feature in the game unfortunately. You could 'retire' it by just not selecting that number anymore I guess.

Never seen it but found a thread which the OP got to retire Maldini's number in 2009, not sure if it's hardcoded for a select few real life players or whether any player can get it (probably as long as they become 'legends').

i thought it got added for fm 2009. But i may be wrong about that.

In my Liverpool game the board asked me if I would retire the number 23 when Carrager took his pension. I said yes, so it can be done. I play FM2010 with the latest patch.
