World Cup 2026
Holders = Argentina ----- Hosts = Argentina
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Game 1
Nigeria 0 Croatia 1
Not a great start as Croatia edge close game.
Game 2
Serbia 0 Nigeria 1
Another tight game but we deserved the win.
Game 3
Nigeria 2 Uruguay 1
We looked to be heading out but late strike puts us through.
Group C - Final Table
Through to 2nd Round
Argentina, Russia, France, Austria, Croatia, Nigeria, South Africa, Sweden
Spain, Switzerland, Peru, Trinidad & Tobago, England, Colombia, Italy, USA
Out of World Cup
Mexico, Tunisia, Australia, Cameroon, Uruguay, Serbia, Holland, Chile
Saudi Arabia, Ghana, Bulgaria, Japan, Iran, Germany, Brazil, South Korea
Brazil were favourites to win the World Cup but they suffered 1-0 defeats to Italy and USA
and drew 2-2 with South Korea, needless to say the manager got the chop.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Second Round
South Africa 0 Nigeria 2
Nwánkwo brace sees us into the last eight.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Quarter-Final
Austria 1 Nigeria 2
Nwánkwo with another double as we make last four.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It would have to be England, they still haven't won the World Cup since
1966 but they are ranked 1st in the World rankings, Nigeria are ranked 25th.
So this is gonna be a very hard task if we are to pull off a shock win.
I will be up against some of my Stopsley players, Sean Carter, Graham Lewin,
Trevor Bird, Jason Sercombe and Phil Harris are in the England squad.

Semi-Final
Nigeria 2 England 3
Player Ratings
We pushed them close and led 2-1 at the break but we couldn't hold out and
it was my Stopsley player Jason Sercombe who broke Nigerian hearts.
Spain beat France 1-0 in the other semi-final so we will face France in the 3rd place play-off .
----------------------------------------------------------------------
3rd Place Play-off
France 0 Nigeria 2
We finish on a high to take 3rd place.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Final
England 0 Spain 2
Spain are World Champions for a second time, England finish runners-up for a third time.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Golden Boot - Emmanuel Nwánkwo with 9 of Nigeria 11 goals.
Dream Team - Dominated by England and Spain, Nwánkwo makes into the 11.
World Rankings - England stay in 1st, Spain are up to 2nd and Nigeria up to 8th.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I have resigned as manager of Nigeria, there are some other tempting international
jobs available right now, Jose Antonio Reyes decided to resign from his position after
guiding Spain to glory, so I did consider applying, Italy, USA and Uruguay are others
that could be interesting, USA and Uruguay interest me the most but my plan was
to resign and give international management a break unless the big job comes up.

Manager News
Current Premier League Managers
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We lifted another trophy in pre-season by beating the MLS All-Stars 2-0.
We lost yet again in the Community Shield, Man City won 4-3 on penalties.
The season started well with two wins, we then faced Man City again
and yet again they came out on top with a 3-2 win.
That was to be our only defeat as we then went on an unbeaten
run which is now twelve games and counting at the end of October.
One outstanding game in that run was the 6-4 win against Newcastle.
Transfers
We spent over £90m bringing in nine players.
Critchley (GK)
Thomas (D C)
Timms (M RC)
Joselito (M C)
Schmidt (D/WB/M L)
Harvey (M L)
Willetts (ST)
Buthelezi (ST)

Champions League
Looking very good at the halfway stage of the group again, a 100% record
and victory in our next game should secure a place in the next round.

Good to see someone around here with a created team. Seems you all are well on your way to becoming a legendary club too, much to the consternation of your compatriots in the EPL I'm sure.![]()
Season 18 - 2026/2027 --- November, December & January
-----------------------------------
We extended our unbeaten run to 14 games, but it was ended
with a 3-2 loss to Man Utd.
We lost heavily in the Champions League, but we had already
qualified so I made several changes to the side.
We then went on a 7 game winning streak before Man City
came to Stopsley Park and they edged a tight game 1-0.
We faced Watford in the League Cup semi-finals and I made changes
to the team for the first leg and we slipped to a surprise defeat.
So with work to do in the second leg I opted to go with a stronger
line-up, however it didn't look stronger as we soon found ourselves
3-0 down, but as it looked like we going out with a crushing defeat
we staged an amazing fightback to lead 4-3, Watford netted just
3 minutes later to secure a place in the final after a 4-4 draw.
Top of the table with a game in hand on second placed Spurs.
We are looking good for 4th title in a row.
Qualified with two games to play so I rested some players
and gave back-up and youth players some CL experience.
We will face AC Milan in the first knockout round.
-----------------------------------
Transfers
We spent just over £9m bringing in four more players.
Blakeley (AM C)
Stojanovic (AM L)
Cooper (GK)
Roberts (AM/FC)
Four players were sold.

Season 18 - 2026/2027 --- February, March, April & May
-----------------------------------
We secured two 1-0 wins over Tottenham in January, the wins saw
us open up a bigger lead and also saw Tottenham's title challenge
fade badly as they slipped down the table.
In February we beat Liverpool in a five goal thriller, with them
Man City and Man Utd being the main challengers for the title.
In March we suffered a 1-0 loss to lowly Chelsea who were in
another relegation battle, but we bounced back with big wins
over Everton and title challengers Man Utd.
In April we suffered a big home defeat to Aston Villa but our lead
was now quite comfortable that it wasn't a massive blow to our hopes.
Earlier in the month I celebrated my 1000th game in FM management
with a 3-0 win against Burnley.
The title was wrapped up with a 4-0 win against Notts County.
We took just a point from our last two games as I decided to
rest players for the Champions League Final.
We made it to the Champions league final for a fourth season on the trot.
beating AC Milan 3-1, Ajax 9-2 and Inter Milan 8-4 on the way to face Hamburg.
The 2nd leg against Inter got scary early on.
So the Stopsley fans and management were hoping it would be fourth time lucky ...
35 minutes in and Hamburg took the lead and we were fearing the worst.
We were level on the stroke of half-time and our hopes of finally winning
were high again, but neither team could find a winner in the second half
so the final went to extra-time and we lost yet again, totally gutted.

Season 19 - 2026/2027
-----------------------------------
Community Shield - Stopsley 0 Arsenal 2
Yet again we find ourselves defeated in the Shield.
We have just one win from six attempts.
-----------------------------------
Champions League - Group Draw
We are drawn in Group C and will face Genoa again.
We also have Standard Liege and PSV Eindhoven.
Well let's see.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Season 19 - 2027/2028 --- July, August & September
-----------------------------------
So we started by losing the Community shield yet again, nevermind because
we have made a fine start in the PL and cups, the only game
that I would class as a poor performance was against Huddersfield,
but they have proved over previous season that they are tricky opponents.
Made a great start in the Champions League against Standard.
We were then held at home by Genoa but I was happy with the point,
Genoa played well and a draw was a fair reflection of the game.
I made several changes for the cup game against Bournemouth.
The lads did well and we progressed with a comfortable win.
-----------------------------------
Transfers
Rojas (DM, M C)
Ortiz (AM RL, ST)
Just two players signed, I had adjusted the wage budget to raise
our transfer funds up to £124m, but the club have entered takeover talks,
so a transfer embargo was imposed and couldn't make anymore signings.
The takeover talks are dragging on, one minute in danger of callapse
then the next minute back on, also in a press release it was said
that if takeover goes through I will be replaced as Manager by my
Assistant Manager Javier Hernandez, that looks unlikely now, but I
will reveal why in another update later.

I could have offered him a higher wage to try and get him to stay with us,
I decided I wouldn't stand in his way of taking up a manager position.
I promoted from within the club, Oscar De Marcos is my new Assistant Manager.

Season 19 - 2027/2028 --- October, November & December
-----------------------------------
We were knocked out of the League Cup by QPR, I made several changes
to the side and we went out in a 3-1 defeat after extra-time.
We soon got over the cup upset and went on a ten game winning
streak in the Premier League and Champions League.
The winning streak came to an end in a game against our nearest
Premier League rivals Arsenal, after going behind early, we hit back to
lead 2-1 and it looked like the winning run would continue.
Arsenal netted in the 87th minute and the game finished 2-2.
Going into the new year we have a two point lead with a game
in hand on second placed Arsenal and remain unbeaten.
Might be too early to think about going the distance unbeaten
but well, it's only natural to think about it, can we do it though?
Champions League - Group C
We had qualified for next round after 4 games, so I was able
to rest players for the 5th game, but I decided to go with a strong
line-up in the last game against Genoa because they were level on
points with PSV and I saw it as a chance to knock a tricky team
out of the competition. we did just that in a surprisingly easy game.

Season 19 - 2027/2028 --- January, February & March
-----------------------------------
Late late goals give us win over Man Utd.
Hopes of going unbeaten are ended by Aston Villa.
Tough tie with Atletico Madrid as we lose 1st leg 1-0.
We win 2nd leg 1-0 and take victory 4-1 on penalties.
Champions League quarter-final against Man City ends in 2-2 draw.
-----------------------------------
Transfers
Our spending goes up to just under £100m with Dutch defender Ivo Van Der Putten
joining in a £20m deal from Fiorentina and highly recommended goalkeeper Patryk Zalewski
joining from Hertha Berlin for £8m, Brazilian centre back Mario also joined us from Man City.

We finally managed to win the Champions League, after losing four
finals in a row we put in a superb first half display, Inter couldn't

Yep, and finally shook off the chokers tag in the CL.
I will conitinue as normal for now, but I intend to set myself some challenges later down the line.
Just a snippet from our current season.
We have had quite a few bad defeats in this campaign but that is one of our worst ever, probably is our worst ever.
Did we do enough in the 1st leg to get through?
It's gonna be a tight finish in the Premier League...
Season 20 - 2028/2029

Gunnarsson Cup is a Pre-Season cup named after current chairman
and it will be staged every pre-season while he is our chairman.
Man City beat Real Madrid to win the Champions League.
1 Trophy for us this season the European Super Cup, not our biggest target but it did mean
we qualified for the World Club Championship, but that proved to be another final we lost.
Our wins/losses in cup finals is in the negative, not quite sure how bad our
record is but the challenge is on to improve the record.

A good month on the whole but we suffered yet another defeat to Arsenal.
We are having a much better cup run than last season and despite a
dodgy second leg against Huddersfield we will face Aston Villa in the final.

It's gonna be a good fight for the title, I would say that anyone out of the

Maw74, you asked if I could make you a logo. I've been taking a stab at it, and so far I've got this (inspired by the former badge of a certain Nottinghamshire club):

By the way, are you planning to do a Stopsley game on FM2012? The game is great, lots better than '10.![]()

Thanks, looking good so far.
Yeah I have been thinking about doing a Stopsley game on FM12, maybe with Kenco's World League Database, but at the moment I have a Spurs game and a career game (Auckland City) going on with FM12.

1ST TEAM
RESERVES
UNDER 18'S
TRANSFERS
Wilson & Gutiérrez were signed due to scout reports
so hopefully they will progress well, the free players
were just signed to increase numbers in reserve squad.
Major Signing - José Luis Lorenzo
We needed another option for the left midfield.
Lorenzo fits the bill perfectly and will be playing
at left back unless Valadez is injured or rested.
Stopsley Utd Captain - Paulista
I have just made him our permanent Captain for the new season,
he captained the side a lot last season anyway, because Sobers (C)
& Thomas (VC) have been playing less games.
I forgot to add this before but I have a new assistant.
A full results update coming soon but here is how the CWC went.
Our other January signing Ben Hawkins is a player for the future he will go into the reserve squad, as will Maldonado
for now because he can't play any first team games.
We were knocked out of the League Cup early by Tottenham.
This result in the final makes our exit a lot easier to take.

Lost interest in my FM12 games and waiting for FM13, have been playing this game again.
I've have just started season 32 and hopefully should complete that before FM13 is released.
