1) Arrange friendly for your reserve team against U18's in about 2 weeks time.

2) Select all of your reserve team using Ctrl+A

3) Move them all to either the first team squad or U18's.

4) Continue a few times

5) About a day later you will have a squad full of grey players.

6) All of these will be amazing 19 year old .

7) Offer them contracts and move to Senior team.

8) Another lot will come through.

9) This can be repeated as many times as you like and due to them demanding little wages is a sure fire way to get a better team.

i'ev just tried it.

set up a friendly with braga for the under18's.

move all under 18s to first team.

i now have a team of 16 year old greys who are all rubbish.

You can offer contracts to your own grey players to make them 'real' players, you can't sign other teams grey players.

It depends what team you are. It works well for teams like Milan and Real Madrid.

The main thing here which is missing is it seems to only work in Italy.

Try it with AC Milan and presuming you sign all the gray players in your reserves you'll find that Kaka will struggle to get on the bench.

i tried it with liverpoiol. under18s and reserves and it didn't work.
dont' suppose it matters much though it would be nice to get it fixed.

could this mean that the return of the problem were the AI would sell their players and be playing greys for the rest of the gaem if they're that ogod.

Yup. It appears they appear with maxed out ca/pa. It seems they are as good (if not better) than your current squad. Nice little bug really.

Strange thing is they are worth 0. Probably appear with 0 rep too!

If you wait a while, they seem to pick up a value. This happens quite regularly when you sign youth players and the like onto a contract.

Well perhaps they just took over at an Italian club that didn't have many reserve players, and saw one or two greys which looked good. And tried to make more. I've been at quite a few teams that haven't had many reserve players in the past, though always in England.

I've got a feeling this has been a problem for a while. I remember facing Messina in the CL with Braintree in FM06, they had a team full of world class looking grey players. They were a far better team than any of the other big European teams who had teams full of real players. I think they won the UEFA Cup without a real player in their team.

i've seen that before but that is usually for quality teams of leagues you haven't got running, eg barcelona having only valdes as a goalkeeper so regenerating a much better grey player who always plays. This is different becuase you are running the league and its in your team these players excist, you can also create and infinate number of them at your will.

On further observation the Italian teams have generated good to top class greys. However this is probably due to the small database than a bug.

I am assuming they generate based on facilities and reputation and therefore will not be world class. Fiorentina's greys fro example were as good (if not slightly better) than their first XI.

I did just this to see what happened. I chose Genoa, and they produce loads of 'decent Serie B' players, but certainly not many, if any 'leading Serie A' players.

Have been trying this with Juve. After doing two full "refreshes" of my reserve team, I already have two 19 year old forwards better than Trezeguet and Del Piero. Buffon will struggle to get in the team, Camoranesi and Nedved have been sold.....A great way to get around those irritating Champions League registration rules (when Juve qualify).

I've got a feeling this has been a problem for a while. I remember facing Messina in the CL with Braintree in FM06, they had a team full of world class looking grey players. They were a far better team than any of the other big European teams who had teams full of real players. I think they won the UEFA Cup without a real player in their team.

thats because in inactive leagues, "fake" players are generated at an average talent of the team itself... So if barca sell their keepers, they get a free world class grey keeper.

personally i think it should be capped at the talent of the ebst player who wouldnt have been loaded at any given database size...

I read it in one of Francis Cole's posts and then just posted it in the AC Milan thread.

Pretty cool bug really, I've replaced the whole of my AC Milan first 11, but now I've got like 50 world class players.

Point 1 - just watched Top Gear. Thank God that's back on TV.
Point 2 - the problem with this bug is that you do just get too many players. My Juve squad (1st Team, Reserves and U20's) swelled to over 100! Still, it's fun anyway.

When i tried it with Lyon i got 2 midfielders similar to a good youth / rotation for first team level. Admittedly not the next ronaldinho..... but it still seems odd.

I've said it before, I'll say it again.

For active leagues, grey players should be CA 1/PA 1, period. No exceptions.

I absolutely hate coming up against, say, Liverpool in a "small DB" league match and seeing that, because their starting GK got hurt, they've instantiated a god-like grey backup.
