Well are all the teams going to be located in England? Because if you are using teams from all teh small club to big club challenges, you might need to load players from other nations as well as loading England.

they'd all be in the English League, I don't see why any loading of players from other nations would be needed

If it's only 2, I wouldn't mind doing it. I can do it until, lets say, FM 2010 releases, although this depends on how soon the database gets ready.

The players would already be in the respective teams, so I don't see any reason for loading players from other nations tbh

m's big brother sign up idea- 11 players sign up and every Wednesday the players nominate two people who they believe should go up for eviction, this will be based on Tuesdays match result/player stats etc. Then another match will be played on Thursday and then on Thursday evening and Friday morning non-players vote who they want to leave. I will add the players to a team in the Blue Square South. I would like help on what attributes etc to give the players, thanks.

Oh I would be keen to submit my own AD Fafe current squad as well, even if they haven't completed the challenge, would be great to see them competing against the rest of the stars

Give the rubbish nations a chance - AI Experiment

It's been quite a while since I ran a thread on these forums, but I've decided to make a return with this AI Experiment, however I just wanted to make sure that something similar hasn't been done before?

    Idea

Using the 2 Malaysian Leagues, the aim is to take some of the worst nations from around the world (2 * 14 clubs + 3 or 4 nations that hopefully will replace the relegated teams) and give them a club in the Malaysian league structure, based in their own country so that overtime it should hopefully produce better youngsters for their nation.

Aim of the experiment will be to see how these clubs affect the quality of players coming through for that country and how nations in different FIFA continents will be affected in their chase to get to the World Cup for the very 1st time.

South America would be ignored, but national teams would be drawn from N America, Europe, Africa, Asia & Oceania.

I know everybody makes some experiment or a database or talks about how they swapped premiership sides with BSS/BSN ... I'm curious, though, has anyone tried just reversing the reputation of the competitions and see how that turns out?

Haha, have you checked out my sign-up? Outcasts. I have created exactly what you have suggested and replaced all possible promotable teams as well ;) If you want the database as it is currently set-up to make your edit easier just pop me a PM Would also greatly interest me to see something similar in an experiment form, if you start it up I will follow along.

Haha, I knew I had seen something similar to my idea somewhere on the forums! Bit of a brain freeze moment this morning!!

I think what I will do is see out your sign up pans out and if I think I there is room for a different thread based on an experiment then I'll let you know just so we aren't covering the same stuff!

He already has an active sign up thread which he has promised to put his efforts into, along with two challenges and an experiment. I'm hoping he's not planning on abandoning yet another thread to start a new one.

This was posted a while ago. Just goes to show that people come up with similar ideas every now and again.

How's the ebay sign up coming along?

Thats not the point at all really. You gave my idea the thumbs up so i got to work on a suitable setup for the sign up only to come back and check this thread to see that you had submitted something of exactly the same nature. Seems a little weird to me man. But go ahead if you wanna do it so much.

haza - You do it mate. Knowing m1234566778, he'll abandon it within 3 seconds of starting it. And no-one will sign-up due to his record of failing to finish a single sign-up/experiment that he has done.

it's not the fact that he doesn't finish them, a very small minority of sign ups are actually finished. It's the fact that he abandons them within a week/fortnight.

I just put a new rig together and just wanted to see how smooth FM was running. I also wanted to test the temperature so I've let FM run since friday on a savegame. The savegame is all the scandinavian leagues and the date is currently 2nd of January 2062. :-D If anyone is interested in this for any use, let me know. I will probably let it run until wednesday or thursday.

When I came in and saw this it was a real shock to my system... I came into this thread about to post something exactly like this.

My plan was to reverse absolutely every reputation, from the premiership to the Blue Square north/south, so that BSS/N had 20, BSP the next level etc. I was going to call it oh no, we got promoted! or something along those lines, but I don't mind if you want it. It was also going to be for FM10.

The curious case of Benjamin Button- The sign up

10 players will be given the opputunity to sign-up as 36 year olds who are trotting along in Hyundai A-League. A place where many players at the same age come to see off the end of the careers with a bit of sun, a bit of extra cash and experience a whole different culture. However, joining the A-League will be only the beginning of the career for these future superstars!

Starting at the age of 36, each player will play their seasons like any other would at their age, except with a difference. One serious difference. Intead of getting older and older each birthday, the players will lose a year from their life. So say 'player A' was 29 years of age and had his birthday on Feburary 28, when Feburary 28 rolls along, we will be losing a year off his life and would now be 28 years old. This would happen every year until the age of 17 when they will essentially 'retire' from football.

Apart from this bizarre age reduction each year, it will run pretty much like anyother sign-up would be expected too!!

I hope everyone understands the spine of my idea and I will be looking for feed-back as its beginning (My summer holidays when they finally come round) get closer.

Good idea PluckaDuck. I would be interested to see what happens to the players attributes as they slip back into their teens.
What would be the starting CA/PA, repuattion, attributes, etc for the players?

    The Biggest Winner

Based on the Sky programme 'The Biggest Loser'

Users are grouped into two, with each pair being designated a Premier League club (minus the top 4 + Man City for the first season) to ply their trade at as strike partners. There will be 20 players.

The goal of the game is to achieve the highest goal to game ratio between them, with a minimum of 15 games required between the pair to qualify, at the end of the season the average of the two players goal to game ratios will be put against all the other pairs in a table, the bottom two pairs will be up for eviction and the rest of the contestants will decide which pair goes, until we are left with 4, at which point its every man for himself, with each player going to a seperate club of their choice with the aim of winning 'The Biggest Winner'

Along with the goal to game ratio however, there will also be a secret task each season, known only by me, that will contribute to attribute raises or, if you fail miserably, attribute reductions.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------

This is my latest idea and the only one in a while that I feel confident about, it's got a couple of similarities with some signups, GCBs FMX factor in particular, but I've made an effort to make it fairly unique, once I've ironed out any problems and sorted out the introduction and sign-up sheet I will make a thread for it, any opinions on what I should add or change?

Maybe to make it more like the programme that inspired the idea, you could make all the players a bit on the big side and edit a few kilos of the winners after each round too. ;)

Yeah, and perhaps have any under performers put on a few as well. ;) And those who lose weight could get a determination/work rate boost as well.

Yeah I'll see if I can incorporate some attribute boosts into the game subtly.

One last question, what CA should I give the players? I want them to be Decent/Good Premier League players, I was thinking 140?

I got an idea for a kind of transfer challenge. Basically each week a team is chosen and people play as that team, trying to do good business in the transfer window, making good purchases, selling players for a good fee and bringing in good youngsters etc. When the transfer window is over a contestant can submit a screenshot of their transfers during the window. At the end of the week anyone from the forum has the chance to vote for the person they think has done the best transfer dealings and the person with the most votes could decide the next team.

This is a very basic idea so i thought i would let people give me feedback as their are a few flaws the main one being that people could cheat by either giving themselves a bigger transfer budget, or taking over another team to get them players easily. Also on most of my games the same teams go for the same players during the first transfer window so their may not be too much variety.

People have said before that there are not enough short term challenges in here and i think this could be a good one to do, feedback however will be much appreciated

I like that idea. Surely my vision of bringing back former greats on 2.5M season long loan deals, spending 60M+ on players not arriving until the following season and spending 13M on 30 year old strikers will mean I win easily, yes?

Having just got back from Vegas and wanting a short sign-up to pass the Summer holiday time, I've had an idea for FM Roulette.

Basically, the sign-up will involve a roulette game and the contestants will be able to bet players using their values. For example, the Manchester United manager could bet Cristiano Ronaldo on RED. Depending on his worth, the winner would get their player back plus a monetary value that could be used to purchase new players. For example, if RED came up, the Manchester United would get Cristiano Ronaldo back plus his FM value, i.e. ú35m or whatever it is. They would be able to use that money to sign players from other leagues, i.e. The Championship and down, European Leagues and Rest of World for the value of their players to improve their squad.

Teams would score points for winning things, i.e. Champions League, UEFA Cup, Premiership etc ... before another round of bets took place to shake things up further.

Anybody like the sound of it? Comments and ideas? A

I was thinking more that you must bet your best player at least ... So you could bet Bendtner but you'd have to bet Fabregas too! It would help to keep it really interesting and shake things up loads.

Good question. I'd probably run a number of test runs to see if that did indeed happen.

Don't get me wrong I think it's a fantastic idea, but it would be a massive bummer for you if say some of the players retired in the second or third season.

I don't think there are enough short-term challenges and this is an excellent idea IMO, and I think you should try it

Yeah I noticed. Did you get rid of Determination in the Mental category? I noticed I'd put it there for some reason when it was a Person Data attribute! On FMX2, people were increasing/decreasing their Determination in sign-up but then I realised that I was setting Determination as person data based on the questions. I just kept quiet and decided that if people had not spotted the mistake, it was tough!

To be honest I don't know. It will depend on how easy it is to implement and how far down the research goes. I really hope it is possible though.

tbf it makes it a good challenge if you start off with a pretty much blank squad, you could always just make it optional anyway, i.e. have the normal rules but if someone wants to they can start off at a lower level, although obviously it again depends on how easy to set up it is.

It is actually easier to start off with a blank squad. Everyone knows that it is pretty easy to bring in a brand new squad on free transfers that is capable of winning the BSN/S, but having a squad full of awful players means you have to cut the existing wage bill first to bring in new players which isn't easy because no one will buy your players becasue they are rubbish. Free transferring them all costs quite a bit so a complete squad rebuild is quite financially demanding.

They are in the Isthmian Div 1 North, so they would have a chance to be promoted to the Isthmian Premier, which is a feeder to the BSN/S.

This creating and editing of leagues is going to go down well on CSE isn't it?!

When I was reading the announcement, I immediately thought of CSE and all the people who want to create leagues and such!

Has given me an idea though: FMX-Factor - Manager Edition!

I was thinking of creating a whole new country, like a CSE Nation, where the league would be 1 tier of 20 and 2 tiers of 18, if i could get enough teams, and we would see what would happen. I will obviously flesh out this idea as i get more details on the competition creator, but it would be based on that premise

Oh guys the editor is going to be amazing...Creating leagues brand new (My Old World) will be amazing, and then also adding deeper leagues. So for example the A-League becomes a top level competition and then the lower leagues feed it ie NZ, Aus, Solomon Islands. Haha Could set-up a whole "Oceania Small Club Challenge"

Really this is going to make the whole thing amazing.

Could be some interesting challenges as well:

'dafuge's small club to big club challenge - Japanese style'

Although I do think that the challenges need to be careful on where they stand with editing, it is something I've got to sort out with my own challenge when I look into adding an extra tier to the challenge.

I agree Dafuge it needs to be very carefully controlled in the original rules. Of course it is all dependant on how much the editor can change doesn't it.

I think I am in the mood to drop in opinions so I will put mine forward on the editor thing

At first I thought it was going to be brilliant as well, I mean I could potentially play a a small to big club challenge in Venezuela, Honduras or even Jamaica!!

But then I thought, how enjoyable would it really be? I mean I don't think the editor will have that many league options available that you will be able to recreate a countries competiton structure (league and cups) to be the same as IRL. I am pretty sure you won't be able to replicate the Bolivian and Equadorian leagues with their Aperturas, Clausuras and Liguillas, all with their separate rules. It will also be difficult to replicate the exact cup competitions for certain nations. Therefore it has kinda put me off doing small to big club challenges in FM10 with edited leagues.

I think this just could be me being very picky and annoying, but I just wanted to see what the general opinion on this was. I do also agree that we have to wait for FM10 to come out and then see what the editor can do. And I also think sign-ups will be brilliant with the new addition

That is pretty much my thoughts exactly.

I don't want to play in an edited league, I just want to add one that has already been created by SI. Since step 7 in England has a lot of research already adding that might seem like just playing an official league that is already in the game.

While playing in Jamaica sounds great wouldn't all the squads be empty?

How many players from Jamaica are in the game if you load all players from Jamaica? That's probably the best way to see if that leagues would be viable without adding players manually.

I don't think Jamaica has enough players, just wanted to add an exampl that wasn't Latin American

But leagues in South America like Paraguay, Bolivia, Ecuador and Venezuela have enough players. Still all of them apart from Venezuela have crazy rules that I don't think you will be able to implement in a league editor...

And I think adding an extra tier to England would be possible, their rules aren't too different from the BSN/BSS, are they?

That is what I was wondering.

Adding new nations is great but if they don't come with enough players it might be a bit useless. I can't imagine anything worse than managing in a league full of grey players.

I'm thinking about basing a sign-up around CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. Personally, I feel if it's done right it could turn out to be a great sign-up. Recently i've really fancied starting a sign-up but i've struggled for ideas. After diving into restarting a sign-up which had halted and then not really being interested in it after a while, i'm really looking to think this through and not rush into it, and because of that it'll be run on FM10 if I can develop the idea enough.

So, I came in here to get some help developing the idea, and to see what people think of it.

A few of the ideas i've got rattling around my head at the moment are:

    - Having a series of 'murders' within the footballing world. One of the problems I can see with this is that it may come across as a little 'tasteless'. I'd write a 'short-story' to set the scene and then at some point reveal a group of suspects and drop certain clues that need to be picked up on to solve the 'murder'.

    - I was also contemplating having the users who are taking part obtain higher ranks as they solve 'murders'. This could mean that those at a higher rank would have some sort of advantage. An extra clue, or getting the list of suspects sooner. Alternatively, it could make the whole thing a little harder for them. For example, the list of suspects that goes to those who are a higher rank could be longer and so making their job a little more difficult. This would then mean that their would be a substantial use of the PM system, and i'd have to rely on those participating to keep some things to themselves.

    - A possible way of determining the 'victim' and the 'murderer', and possiblty the 'suspects', could be to simulate the weekend fixtures throughout the English leagues (i'll probably use the English leagues due to my familiarity with them or it may be the top leagues around Europe) and use the first player sent off as the 'murderer' and the first player to be injured during the weekend fixtures would be the 'victim'. A possible way to determine the group of 'suspects' would be to take the second red card of the weekend, then the third, and so on. Although, the list of suspects would probably have to be players who are similar (e.g. play for the same team, same age, same nationality etc...) as it'll probably help tie in with the 'setup story' and not make it too obvious.

If you read through that, then thank you. As i've stated, this idea is very much just a thought i've had. I'm giving myself plenty of time to try and develop it into something which could work well as a sign-up. There are a lot of gaps in my idea, and that's where I need help. All feedback is welcome and greatly appreciated.

I'd probably be more interested in the said challenge in domestic San Marino. Would we have to do it dafuge style, or could we just be Murata?

San Marino only has one league (split into two groups) so I don't know how you could do the dafuge challenge there.

Alright, I am definitely looking for feedback on this, as I think it could be a great sign-up and it will allow for a lot of the community to be involved, and I would start the information gathering as soon as possible, ideally this weekend.

For FM10, with the new competition editor, as I stated a page earlier, I am looking at creating a nation based on the CSE Community. I will be basing an entire league structure on it, having 3 tiers, the first with 18 teams and the bottom two having 20 each, if I am able to fill up all the slots. Right now I would be looking for people to create teams, based on this years editor, and I will provide more information as more information becomes available through the blogs and such.

So right now I would just need team, stadium, chairman, and playstyle information, just like it can be done in the editor, then when I ahve more information about league structure, reputation, and the registration rules, I will have a draft (or something similar) for all the players in the teams.

I am just trying to get a feel for whether I would be able to get 58 people interested.

That's my sign up, you can probably see it as soon as you enter the forum but it's seriously lacking in posts with over 25 places left to allocate.
Basically It's a new nation in the place of Yugoslavia that when created will challenge the Global Stage and it will be comprised of you guys but only if you post for more info visit the thread otherwise post please!

    My thoughts Spartan5:
    • Good idea in theory and I think there might be a few sign ups similar to this in FM10.
    • 58 players is a tough ask - ok there are 53 players in the Eurovision sign up, but that requires 1 post in creating players, unlike this that would probably require a series of players.
    • A 58 player draft system (if used) would just create chaos in my opinion. Robert's EPL draft contained 20 players and that took an age.
    • I'd focus on a small league system - if you want prom / reg, then aim for fewer teams in each league I reckon.

It wouldn't be a draft persay, it would be more like my failed England Takeover signup, where I give each team a certain amount of money to spend on players and they start with that squad, but I am open to making the league smaller, it was more based on interest how big the leagues would be.

even if you did get 53, it would be way too much work for you considering you'd probably get randomers signing up who never come back. What MeLikeFM suggested sounded qg though.

Yea, I will prob make it smaller then, but I want to find a way to get the most active users in it with maybe a couple random people ad hope they participate.

Hey, I've got two challenge idea's here, I've been thinking about them and want to know what you think!

    Fall From Grace
The goal in this challenge is to take over the best four teams in any nation. (E.g, Man.Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool) and attempt to get them all relegated from the Premier. Obviously, this won't be possible in one season, so it should take two to get them all into the Championship.
After you've wrecked their premiership career, you could try going all the way and getting them down to League 2, or even the BSP/ BSN/BSS. It would be interesting to see which clubs would come out top.
And if you want, as an extra, once you have done that in England, move on to Italy or Spain, Germany, France or even Scotland. Your manager is bound to get sacked, so once they do, retire and start a new manager as manager of the club that sacked you. This will be quite hard, to wreck the top 4 completley. But I think that it would be quite pleasurable, especially if one of the top 4 is your rival club...

    The Glory of Youth Players
In this challenge, feel free to take control of any club in any of the leagues- but I recommend teams with good youth systems (AC Milan, Arsenal, Ajax, Barcelona).
Your board has been taken over by a very poor bussinesman, who cannot afford to give any transfer budget to the club.
You cannot buy any new players
If a club makes an offer for one of your players, you must sell them.
You can only add to your first team squad with your youth players and reserves.
The aim is to get your full squad full of your home-grown youth players.
Because of the awkwardness in this challenge, if you are sacked you can retire then go back to that club.

Please tell me if you will give these challenges a go, or if they are a good idea!

I think the first one is a decent idea, but it would be very hard to get such big clubs relegated. It would be easier yet still difficult with clubs like Spurs, Everton, Aston Villa, Newcastle... oh wait .

The second idea is also a very good idea, these are the kind of challenges that look good on paper, but nobody ever does them :/

What I'm about to do (Just setting up the game now) is buy awful players for millions, and do everything i can to make the 1st teamers happy. Release bad media comments, discipline them, never play them, and offer them to interested clubs for no money at all.
Should be good, I would love to see Rooney's face when I transfer list him

And I agree about what you said about them looking good on paper! I'll probably forget about it after telling everyone how fat Mike Ashley is.
