It might have been, but iirc, it was about the average ages and nationality's of the players who have won the Champions League, and the goal was to get as close to that squad as possible.
Dafuge - Oh, I'll have a look through my collection of FourFourTwo's and see if I can find the article.

you could have a look in the wayback machine? Has it been six months since the move yet?
I'll have a look now
I'm making progress
But it says I need a password and login, and that my current one isn't getting accepted.
Love the mediocre nations idea Paul, would love to participate! I had a similar idea for this that I was going to save for FM10, but it would have been way too similar so I'll put a suggestion out there.
Why don't you have it that people are CEO's of top divisions in mediocre leagues e.g. Belarus, Iceland, Wales. So people can buy higher rep for the league and increase the quality of clubs facilities etc. Money could then be won through the performance of their teams in Europe e.g. 1 Million for a win etc.
Just a small suggestion!
Hell yeah, found the article in my Four Four Two, the requirements are;
Pos: Nation - Age
GK: Spanish - 23
DR: Italian - 32
DL: Brazilian - 27
DC: Italian - 28
DC: Spanish - 28
MR: Dutch - 24
ML: Portuguese - 26
MC: German - 29
MC: French - 26
ST: Brazilian - 25
ST: Italian - 29
Would anybody be intrested if I created the challenge?
that was actually my original idea, for the users to be the Head of FA's if you like. However after much consideration I thought that the '4 teams out of the league' idea would be a lot simpler and would be easier to track the progress of each teams performance.
Points-wise, my idea was for the CEO's to earn points through their 4 teams performance in the CL and Europa League, with them then being able to purchase upgrades on things like Facilities, Bank Balances, Stadium sizes etc.
I appreciate your contribution, and I'll definitely contact you about potentially being one of the CEO's when the idea is developed a bit more (I'm thinking maybe a week or a fortnights time the idea will be fully ready for take off).
Fair enough, still sounds like it would be amazing!
Would love to be able to participate, thanks![]()

The FourFourTwo challenge is up now![]()
Really like the idea Paul.
I'm starting to find myself demotivated in my FC Frozen Nuuk, so am thinking on giving it a bit of a break and bring it back in a few months time. Only a thought at this point but am considering it. While not Nuuking around, I'm thinking (With Robert's permission) bringing back the old Premership Predictions League. I'd run it similarly to the way he did, but with a few extra twists and turns. What's the interest like at the moment for something like this? I'd have to somehow convince my mind to give Nuuk a rest first, but if enough people are interested, I'll give it a go!
The Predictions league is very easy to do and takes about half an hour a week at most. But it does become rather tedius when there are no posts other than people's predictions. Oh and you can do it if you want![]()
I'd take part in another predictions league. Like Robert said, there's not much scope for banter but I always found it interesting.
I'd would take part in predictions league. And I have two ideas;
1. Manager icon- a take on the show football icon where I follow the winners (3/4) and people will sign up to be those managers.(sign up)
2. The old firm have gone- basically Rangers and Celtic have been placed in the English Champioship and so it will see how they do in England and who wins SPL.(experiment)
I think the second idea would work better as a challenge, I'm sure there would be a few people interested in managing the old firm in the English leagues. It has been done loads of times before but I don't think there's an FM09 thread for it at the moment.
ok thanks for advice dafuge. My agents sign up will be up and running soon as my laptop will be sorted
PluckaDuck - It's a shame to hear that you are currently demotivated with your Nuuk save, but I completely understand if you want to take a break. I would definately be interested in taking part in a predictions sign-up though.
Yes, I'd take part in a Predictions League once again - I was the only one to do every week last year.
I'd be interested in a predictions league.
weeeman you joined a year after I did - it is our anniversary in 3 days.
Edit: And you have exactly 100 more posts.
I share my anniversary with Nep![]()
I didn't post very much for my first few months.
However I'm now a post-man
It does help that I make twice the number of your posts per day on average.
I would be interested in taking part in the predictions league again, was good fun last year
Good to see some early interest. Keep it coming so I can see how many people would be interested in partcipating. What does everyone think About 8 regular posters would be stustainable?
Also, Is it alright with you Robert? Or are you considering holding it for yourself later this year/FM10? EDIT: Just see you already said I could![]()
I'd definitely play as well. Would be good to see what improvements you would have made on my version.
I never actually played in your version, I've done a bit of reading through a few of your pages but intend to read it thoroughly over the coming days to see how I can change it up without making it too unoriginal.
PaulHartman, sounds like a great idea, and the way of improving stuff based on performance is the best IMO.
The Predictions League sounds good and I would be more than happy to take part.
I would love to participate in a Predictions League.
Since PluckaDuck is doing it, I'm sure there will be flexible time zones when Australia is over a day ahead of Canada.(and PluckaDuck usually posts the Nuuk updates when I'm online too)
Hoping to start on Thursday afternoon, Australian time!
I have posted about an Island of Sodor(Thomas the tank engine) and I'm in the process of making teams and towns etc. Would I be able to post it as an experiment?
What's happening with your other CSEs?
m1234566778, I understand that you seem to have a lot of ideas, but I would recommend only focusing on one signup or experiment because realistically you would not have the time. A successful signup requires complete dedication to it.
I didn't mean post about experiment yet. I just wanted to see what you thought
seen in FMS that you're now going to write a story about it instead. Good luck with it![]()
Lol, anyone got an idea that won't get flamed like my Nazis vs. Communists. I don't want my few hours of creating 20 Nazis and 20 Communists to go to waste... And Mussolini was looking like the next Materazzi, could have been world class. Oh well.I'll just edit the persons and personality traits, and perhaps swap the teams into another league if need be. That way I can still use the DB.
Looking for an experiment that involves manager personalities (for example when I made Hitler he had 20s in Motivating, Determination, and 3 in Temperament and 5 in Sportsmanship). And some kind of huge rivalry where 2 teams could be created including backroom staff and starting 11. Could be same country or different country.
The hard part isn't thinking about rivalries. For example I could think of EA Sports vs. Konami, Disney's worst actors making a team. But there aren't exactly any personalty experiments that can be done there. So help!!!
Does anybody know of a league with 20+ teams but with no relegations or promotions?
Thanks for any help in advance.
South Korea has two leagues of 14 with no relegation from the bottom league, whilst Holland has one of 18 and one of 20 with no relegation out of the second division as well.
Thanks corinthianoNot sure if there aren't any and that's why you didnt suggest them or more likely I think my original question wasn't clear enough.
I meant to ask for leagues with no promotions and no relegations.
Isn't there that whole East/West split in the MLS or something like that, I'm not sure, I may be making things up. And the A-League is only 8 teams(10 next season) I need 20+![]()
K-League is the largest division with a closed system, with 15...
Would 15 be doable at all? I'm curious at your idea.![]()
15 isn't really enough but I guess I could have worked with 16, maybe there will be a new playable league that fits my requirements in FM10.
Or they might even allow us to create new leagues in the editor which would be useful, especially for CSE's.

I want to make a league with some obscure rules...read "If you thought South America was whack"
Thanks for the idea, but it doesn't really interest me that much.
Now that I keep trying to think of ideas, I can't think of anything better than my old one. I wish people would have at least let me explain the point of the experiment. The first post wasn't as good as it could have been because I was tired after working so hard on the database and I thought I could edit the first post the next day. But then people have to overreact because I put Hitler in a football simulation. Which really seems silly to complain about to be honest, FM isn't a violent game.
Sorry, just had to let that out.
Alright, my roommate (hasdgfas) and I have come up with an idea for a sign-up that we would be running together from his computer.
Here is the basic premise.
At first we will take 12 people who will each create a team. 3 will be in the Premiership, 3 will be in the Championship, 4 will be in League 1, 2 will be in League 2. They will all be rivals with each other. The goal is to have the most success with your team while getting the leg up on your rivals. Everything about your team will be fully customizable although your names will have to be realistic with places in England. Much like Dragon's Den, the teams will be given a certain amount of money to spend on their team, the starting total will depend on where your team starts on the ladder. This money will be spent on stadium size, youth and training facilities, and a youth academy, and any remaining money will be that team's bank balance. In addition, each participant will create one player for their team who will have abilities designed for the league their team is in with potential for greater, but we reserve the right to adjust players we feel don't fit the particular league to something more appropriate.
In order to encourage participation from both those in the sign-up and those not in the sign-up, we will have half season predictions pools as well. the pools will be broken down into those people who are in the sign-up and those people who are not in the sign-up. The winner of the pool for those in the sign-up will gain either a reputation increase or a bank balance increase. The winner of the pool for those not in the sign-up will be able to customize a regen from one of the teams (of their choice) and their player will be followed. After 2 seasons, a third pool will be created for those who have won a place in the sign up with the winner of that pool gaining either a CA or PA increase.
An idea we are toying with is allowing teams to go over their allotted amount of money but incur a debt that would have to be paid off in a certain amount of time and we are looking for feedback on whether it should be included or not.
We are open to any questions or comments that you guys might have.
I don't think you should allow the debt part...
But otherwise it looks good.
I probably won't create a team, but would love to participate in the predictions league.
And thanks for beating Duke. I hate them. I hope the Villanova destroy the Blue Devils tomorrow...
And good luck against KU.![]()
Haha, no problem, I enjoy the upsets, especially when its my team that is performing the upset, however I will be rooting for Duke against Nova because my cousin went to Duke so I feel more allegiance to that school than to Nova. And we have already beaten Kansas this year so beating them again shouldn't be too difficult.
I think, UNC, Duke (Pitt hasn't impressed me), MSU and Mizzou.
Here's an idea I was thinking about yesterday for a holiday game, but couldn't really think of a proper way to carry it out or present it. If anyone else is interested in giving it a go feel free to, as I think it could be interesting if done properly.
Obviously the likes of D-Beck, Colin Kazim-Richards at Fenerbache and Robbie Fowler at Queensland Roar are the main ones at the moment, along with Tyrone Mears and Matty Derbyshire on loan at Marseille and Olympiakos, but after a few more seasons it would get more interesting as more names make their way abroad and regens start coming through elsewhere.FOLLOWING THE ENGLISHMEN ABROAD
For years the English game has been inundated with footballers from all around the world playing in its top leagues. In particular since the Premiership era started, there’s been a huge influx of foreigners making their ways to England, with various levels of success. For every Eric Cantona with Manchester United there’s an Andrea Silenzi at Nottingham Forest, and for every Gianfranco Zola at Chelsea there’s a Marco Boogers at West Ham.
But in recent years there’s been very little talent going the other way. Possibly the most well known footballer in the world, David Beckham, has spent time in Spain, the US and Italy, but how many other big names have tried their luck overseas? Jonathan Woodgate, Steve McManaman and Michael Owen also all spent time at Real Madrid, and while McManaman won the Champions League there Owen and Woodgate had less success and have since returned to England.
In the 70s. 80s and early 90s it was more common to see English players abroad, with Kevin Keegan twice winning the European player of the year award while at Hamburg, Gary Lineker enjoying a spell at Barcelona, and Paul Gascoigne spending three years at Lazio. But with the big money deals now in England, in large part thanks to Sky’s influence, players are less inclined to leave the country.
So in this diary I’m going to follow a number of English players who ply their trade elsewhere. Obviously due to the large amounts I can’t keep tracks on all of them, but I’ll keep updates on the bigger names, as well as any youngsters with potential. When the regens start coming through I’ll see if there are any talents coming through the academies in foreign countries which I’ll also keep an eye on. Again due to the large numbers, and for my own sanity, I won’t be tracking the English playing in the other British leagues. It will only be players with English as their first nationality for now, regens may include second depending on numbers.
Why dont you make it a sign up (create new players) with english players playing in foreign leagues instead? That way it will show how the AI responds
But I like the idea mate![]()
I like the idea aswell mate. Especially Kazim-Richards who had a fantastic last season in Turkey. It will be hard to track Robbie Fowler, as North Queensland are not currently on FC due to them being a new team to the league that will not start until August.
I had an idea for a sign-up that i wanted to run past you before just going ahead with it, whilst reading up on Nations that don't have FIFA recognition but still play there own tournaments like the one's run by the Nouvelle Federation-Board i came accross the Romani peoples Nation and thought how cool it would be to have an International football team that didn't even have it's own country (and not just like Palestine) but an entire nation of refugees (travellers, Gypsy's, Bohemians whatever you call them where your from). I've spent alot of spare time in the last week or so playing around with the editor testing a few of the ideas i'd need (i still want to run an holiday tonight has a final test) but the basic idea is to run the Nation with people submitting there own players and to also run possibly 4 clubs in 4 different league's to represent the geographic diversity of the people i'd personaly manage the Nation i think and update how everyone's players are donig.
So make sense? I hope so any questions and advice would be well recieved and well needed, cheers.

How does that work in the editor, can you assign a team to no country?
Otherwise I think it's a good idea, you might want to re-think controlling the national side as it will obviously add time to the updates and could be dificult to keep fair whilst trying to get the best results, up to you though.
The way i've set it up so far is to use CIS set has based in central europe and adding 4 new City's to create the regens with the rough longtitude and lattitude of neighbourhoods or areas frequented by Romani. I've also found a list of famous Romani descendants who have become footballers who i'm going to give Romani Nation has a second Nationality
That experiment/sign up idea is up http://community.sigames.com/showthread.php?t=114252
Is anyone interested in participating in this sign up idea. We all know the kids tv show Thomas the tank engine well the country has been given it's own football league. I need 16 chairmen or/and 16 managers if anyone is interested
WHat other signups/challenges/experiments are you running atm?
Actually just chairmen for the clubs
Just running my agents sign up
Then stick to that one, people are getting annoyed by the fact that they sign up to your sign ups and then a couple of weeks later you're bored of it and you've moved onto a new sign up
I doubt you'll be able to get 16 people to sign up for it, because:
a) You start a sign-up at least once a week, the same number of sign-ups you give up.
b) The quality of updates is very poor because you are not committed to it.
I have suggested it before and I will do it again. Just concentrate on one sign-up, improve the quality of your updates (just look at other sign-ups that have been runing for a while, and stay committed to it!
ok I'll carry on with my other sign up then
There r a few other members with more than one sign up but I can't?!?
Most have a history for their signups lasting a while
My Man U sign up had about 500 posts mate. The only reason I could not do my FMvFML sign up was because of computer problems
Yes, but how long did it actually last? Some sign-ups here last over 6 months and have some sort of pre-defined end date. You just quit your Man Utd sign-up so you were allwed to do another one.
And with the FM v FML sign-up you should have really tested whether it would ork beforhand or not. At the end of the dayyou still dissappointed a lot of people.
I dint quit I moved it 2 another site. IMO people are abit sad if they r disappointed about a sign up not starting cos of computer trouble
It is not about the number of posts, it is about the quality of what is going on in the thread.
Have a look at the links in here:
The Challenges / Sign-Ups / Holiday Games Awards - Voting Closes August 18th at 22:00
That is the standard that people really appreciate.
I wouldn't be dissapointed, I'd be annoyed at my time being wasted
IMO my man u one was top quality and my agents one is pretty good
roberto how long does it take to fill out a sign up form not much time
How long it takes doesn't matter, it's rendered pointless if it doesn't go past a few days.
OK, so that's a yes for my new sign up cheers guys.
I have lost hope.
Please don't start any more new threads.
Meh, pointless even trying with him
****sake take a joke. As if I am going to start a new sign up after that feedback PS sign up to my new sign up (ha ha)
But you're not funny.
Meh to u Roberto.
Actually corinthiano I am very funny. Me and my mate won school talent show for stand up
Good god that was bad Paul /o\![]()
Paul is definately funnier!
Now that's not funny (ha ha)
*shakes head slowly* Oh what have we done?
This is getting ridiculous tbf, but it is a brilliant distraction from work.![]()
So I will reserve all u guys places in my sign up
Me too, can't think of anything I would like more.
first of all don't use text speak in the forum please and before you say your updates in your sign up are good take a look at some of the sucssesful sign ups like corinthianos agent one, dogeeDs island one and canveys american president one to see what a good update actually is (sorry to those people with great sign ups that wern't mentioned here but i couldnt list them all)
Actually Corinthiano I agree with you, and some distractions are needed, though Saturday morning here/...
The distraction was too big for me, so I decided to leave my essay for tomorrow morning and just play some FM![]()
Haha yeah I would've done the same thing, I ended up signing up to what looks like a great Club sign-up that Wegason has madeThat application took a while haha
Paul and Corinthiano u ave your places. Any1 else want a place
