Yey I can be involved in the Euro Striker sign up this time round.
Yey I can be involved in the Euro Striker sign up this time round.
I have thought of a silly challenge.
Superflops
Basically you would have to spend a portion of your transfer budget on a player who could never play at your current level e.g. a Prem side signing a league 2 quality player. This player would have to start in all games (maybe with a few exceptions) and see who can "make" the worst flop. A points system would be used to decide who had the best (worst) flop.
Developed a slight issue with my sign up for FM09, what with the Serie C bug - means San Marino can't be placed in Italy.
Ummm, anyone have any inkling as to when a patch may be coming out?
Overwise San Marino may be off to Ireland if my plan of starting before xmas goes to schedule!!!![]()
A patch may well be released this month to fix the important issues such as that one.
How about this as an Idea (I actually thought about this for FM08 - but never mentioned it)
I'm not sure how league and nation reputation works now, but how about taking a team from a poor league (N. Ireland for example) - building up a team from scratch, (Taking them from the NI2) - and making them so financially able, that you can buy players from the other N. Irish clubs and inject stupid amounts of cash into them, to raise the reputation of the league / nation.
The league and nation reps are static IIRC
I knew they were for FM08 - but wasn't that changed in FM09 - due to things like Gundo's Challenge causing so many issues?
I have no idea
Yes, a patch! Finally, the San Marino double challenge can get underway.
Ter should be happy that he can start his challenge again.
I wish the league reps did change. It would make an interesting game.
Gott admit I'd love the chance to make the Welsh leagues a powerhouse.
Seeing as WW has already asked for people to be online for the final results of his sign up on Sunday evening, that is when I am to put up my sign up![]()
Does anyone think a redditch challenge would be any good?
You would have to take them to the Premiership in say under 15 years.
On 08, I got them to the Championship in 6 seasons and they were media predicted 22nd, first season.
Plus, who is the BSN/S media predicted 22nd teams?
Is there a particular reason for using Redditch?
I think it had to do with them maybe being Media Predicted to finish 22nd in last years version which is why he asked for who was predicted 22nd in the BSN/S.
surely thats the same as dafuges challenge without the choice of clubs and the years challenge then. Personally i don't like all these specific club challenges that seem to be appearing i thnk if its just marking your progress with a sngle team then it should be in the careers thread
I think the Leeds one makes some sense, b/c a lot of players like to use Leeds so it keeps them all together and it doesn't get lost in the shuffle of a careers thread. The Luton one makes sense because of the special circumstances although that should only be the first season and then after that it should be moved to the career thread.
I agree with what you are saying.
It was just a small idea because I was just throwing up ideas for challenges
And, yeah it was for the media predicted 22nd team.
I have a new idea, which I will go in to later, in a bit more detail.
It's called The Casual FM Gamer's Challenge
It would be to do with me setting a bunch of challenges which you would choose one of them to do, say each month or with no time period and all challenges would be scored the same, I think.
Then, I would compile a scoreboard.
As you can tell, this is another random idea I've spouted up and I'm not sure on the specifics yet.
Tell me what you think.
Could be quite good, casual FM-ers don't really exist on these boards though except for OTF![]()
Yeah, but with My Caual FM-ers challenge, I'll make them come on here![]()
Most of the casualish Fm-ers are in PC/Mac General Discusiion(GD) so if I put something there about the challenge I should be able to rake some in.
That wouldn't be allowed IIRC
isnt that similar to the 20-20 challenge run by ssestig though, correct me if i'm wrong though cause i might have mis-understood you
It is if you slip it in, in a very casual way
No, I would start another poll about whether people are doing a challenge this year and mention it in there.
Thats what I did when all the challenges came out and I mentioned everyones with links.
Its along similar lines but you have an unlimited timescale and the will be various challenges posted up every few weeks.(Around 10 every 3 weeks)
Whilst in theory its a good idea, I can't see it getting much activity in this forum tbh.
The 20/20 challenges cover the regulars who want short challenges, all the small --> big club challenges cover the people wanting long term challenges and there aren't enough casual gamers to sustain the thread in the long term atm.
Imo, this is just a general view - there are way too many challenges at the moment, which is understandable as everyone wants to put their own challenge up asap. However, because everyone has put them up at the same time, half of the threads don't get the attention they deserve as people can only play a certain number of games at a time.
So whilst in theory its a good idea what you suggest, I just think in the long run it wouldn't get sufficient attention from enough people.![]()
Which is why I'm waiting![]()
I thought he was talking to robertlangman![]()
Yeah he is but I was just saying that the reasons he stated are why I'm waiting to release mine.
I agree that there are way too many challenges atm. I think the best bet to gain some interest would be to hold sign-ups. At least they won't be neglected.
And in regards to the small to big club challenges, I've learned that there are always some regulars who would come to the same small to big club challenge every year, with the exception of Dafuge's challenge, which is basically the general CSE population.
The main 'regulars' of the small club to big club challenge (I might be wrong as I've only been a CSE-er for about a year...):
Gundo - cookie15, Fitzaay, DodgeeD, spotg, Icelander83
JoseRR - Lower League Rules, iacovone, rlipscombe, Benjaminoo, max1994, ?Flashman\'s School Day's? (unless you don't want to add him to the club)
rancer890 (aka me) - Quackje, Earendil, rinso, Sazchu, blowcrapup, VeniVidiVicious
Razer82 (it's been neglected) - JSalter, corinthiano
Just an observation I've noticed. I'm bored ya know.
If there are any disagreements with this, feel free to disagree with me lol.
You should do a Dafuge list, could take a while though![]()
Nah, it's only 46 pages and counting.
The list won't be too long. I can just give a link to the Dafuge's challenge website.
And roberto, you haven't sold your soul to any of the other small club to big club challenges yet.![]()
Nope, the only other one I've got past a season in is yours.
Was a bit tempted to add your name onto my challenge list. Hm, maybe I should.
And where's the short term challenges that daf said he would make? It's nowhere in sight...
Probably waiting for everything to calm down a bit.
Are FM saves even playable on WWSM (and vice versa...)? Cuz I think they have different file extensions...
I think they are.
Yea they definitely are because I used one of Scab's saves to get Hendon in Daf's challenge and I have WWSM
I've seen this idea in some forms around the forums (namely johanos barca challenge)
my idea is to have a chellenge where a team (any team) reaches the pinnacle of the game with an entirely homegrown squad
at the moment thats all i have but im sure ill have some more information if people are willing to give it a shot
any takers?

I think someone called Stephanie McMahon's Secret Lover did a challenge very similar to this for FM08 (and poss FM07), which followed your prinicipal, but for a club right at the bottom of the English football pyramid.
I think it's a good challenge... just blooming impossible for teams lower down the league pyramid!!!![]()
![]()
what's everyones views on a challenge where i'd replace Stoke with a created team with the same resources as the majority of Premiership teams, but had no players. They'd have around a £100M balance, and a £40M transfer budget. The aim is to win the Premiership and Champions League in as little time as possible. Oh and one other thing. They can only bring players in that are Free Agents, Listed for Loan or Transfer Listed (Bosman's not allowed, however you can sign them if they become free agents).
I'm thinking of implementing an idea I had for FM08 for a player-based thread but before I get to that I have a question, especially for those of you doing dafuge's challenge but it may be noticeable in any game: are the 'Islanders' still popping up in the new game? (i.e. regens from obscure nations usually Caribbean Islands who are often quite good or even world class)
Thanks for the feedback.
I totally agree with there being way too many challenges at the moment.
I would run a sign-up at the moment but I can't get on to the editor because I get an error message.
I know I have to download something to fix it but I don't have the internet on that computer.
Anyone got any ideas of where people should send their bids to? As I may get accused of cheating if I sign all the best players and all the bids get sent to me
I'm thinking about creating a challenge (yes another one) that involves MLS... (patiently waiting for the negative response from CSE). Will hopefully be up soon when I think of the specifics...
Oh good god. Any chance of it being enjoyable for me?![]()
Yes you will be allowed to leave America eventually and go home-- but after you've made a mark in MLS.
And even when you do get into Europe, you most do things the American (or Canadian) way.
I am such a rebel.![]()
the auction one. I've decided that everyone will still swend their bids to me, just that I will send mine to Ridleys before anyone else and he will confirm that I haven't cheated.
But what if Ridleys cheats?
hm. If we send them to each other at the same time or at least quite soon together then he wouldn't have time to cheat.
They could all be sent to an independent adjudicator so that no one cheats.
I'd volenteer but I want to be in the challenge. I'd vote for Dafuge if he doesn't want to be involved.
But, what if dafuge cheats?
![]()
Then were all doomed...![]()
I'm quite happy to do the job, if dafuge doesn't want to.
As long as its done this week.![]()
No, as it will take longer than a week as there are separate rounds for each position. So there are rounds for keepers until everyone has signed 3 keepers and then we move on to defenders. Rounds will last for 4 days.
I'd happily do it.
I'm more than willing to do the job of 'Adjudacator' Robert. Sounds like a great sign-up and if I'm not the adjudacator, I would definetly attempt to sign-up, Pluckaduck
THe bad thing about people saying they would adjudicate is that it means they don't want to sign up.
I'm not too bothered about it anyway mate.
Understand that Robert, What I meant was that I'd really like to be the Adjuducator, But if it goes to someone else, It's all good, I'd like to sign-up as a player, but only if I'm not the Adjuducator. Hope that clears it up mate.
yeah, I know you said that pluckaduck but others have said they would just like to be the adjudicator
I want to sign up
Sounds like an incredible challenge
So, I'm not entirely new here. I've not been active for a long time. I recently got my copy of FM09, and whilst looking for the patch, I came back across this website and thought, "Oh, yeah..."
Anyway, I've been lurking and reading through some of the threads, and was interested in a small AI Experiment, that may have some potential sign-up elements to it. Anyway, I was just looking for any of the more experienced CSE-ers to give me a few more refinements.
The goal of my experiment is to see what the effect of a good youth setup versus that of a bad one is. So, here's what I've done so far:
- Created two completely clubs, FC One and FC Two.
-- Both clubs have been given a very nice setup:
-- 99 million pounds in the bank; 75 to go on transfers, and brand new 45000 seat stadiums.
-- They've been put into the Premier League in place of Hull and Stoke.
-- Both sides have a moderately good repuation at 7000.
-- Each side has identical chairmen, One Smith and Two Smith, who are good businessmen, and moderately patient, but extremely ambitious.
- Now, here lies their sole differences:
-- FC One has a Youth Acedemy with a 20 rated Youth Setup.
-- FC Two has no Youth Acedemy, with a 1 rated Youth Setup.
Other than this, though, both sides are completely empty. I was considering leaving it completely up to the AI from here, though perhaps it would make sense to create a few (~10) players for each side with equal CAs and PAs to ensure that both sides have enough players.
Any other questions/suggestions/opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
I think if they have too much money, FC Two will begin building a Youth Academy/improving their Youth Setup pretty quickly.
Yeah I'd give them 0 balance (random) or 1
As a quick trial run, I holidayed through to September 1st using the aforementioned database. Here's what I found:
- Both sides spent roughly 20 million on about five players each. The CAs of the players were all in the range of about 140-160.
- FC Two had not yet spent any money towards improving their Youth Setup.
- FC Two were in 20th place losing all three matches, while FC One had managed to win a game, draw a game and lose a game to sit in 15th.
So, what I would do differently before actually starting the expirement would be:
- Reduce the sides' bank balances to about 20 million. This would be enough to allow them to add a few players, but would hopefully prevent FC Two from investing in their facilities also.
- Allow eleven players (one for each position) to sign-up for each side. This would ensure they had a decent first team, in addition to any signings. I would make each player with a CA of 150, and a PA of 170. This should give them enough ability to hammer out a mid-table finish at least in the first season.
I would post seasonal updates on both sides. Here I would include signings, players of notice, etc. I would additionally put heavy focus on the performances of the Youth Players and compare the youth product for each of the sides.

I just brainstormed up a new idea! get ready....
Oil Tycoon!
The goal is to make an average finance club the richest club in the world, then win your club's respective competition. Here's how it would work:
You must start with an Arabian nationality, this includes the following nations:
- Bahrain
- Iraq
- Israel
- Kuwait
- Lebanon
- Oman
- Palestinian Territories
- Qatar
- Saudi Arabia
- Syria
- Jordan
- United Arab Emirates
- Yemen
- Maybe Egypt and Iran
Your club must include at least 7 players from any of the above nations by season 5. I will include a ddt.
You can load the leagues of your choice.
Your club must have okay finances or lower.
You cannot win the competition and then become the richest club, You must be the richest before you win.
If you get sacked, you must either find a new club and take them to the goals above or start over.
Tell me what you think!

aww no one loves my idea
yes, this is a cheap way to bump the post

Bubba, its only been up for a half-hour, give it some time, haha. I think it could be pretty good, but I would hold off on posting it as there are already a lot of challenges, and speaking of challenges, when is your MLS one coming up.
I think it would be quite good Bubba, but as has been mentioned there are a lot of challenges at the moment you might want to put off for a month or so![]()
i could put off this or i could put off the mls challenge... decisions, decisions...
I have decided to put off the mls challenge for 3 reasons.
- It will take me time to finish the database
- I'll have more time to get it started without peer pressure
- the oil tycoon challenge would be much easier to setup
You are better off putting this one off because you have people who signed up for your MLS challenge, so to keep them happyyou should post that one soon. Your edit was at the same time as my post so I wouldn't have been able to see that.
Stop it with the peer pressure!
i don't know... i'll need time to weigh my options.
Put your MLS one up first as this one is still on the drawing board and you don't know what reaction it will get wheras you already know what the reaction for your MLS one is(kind of)![]()
I was thinking for a Boys vs Girls manager sign up -
20 people sign up - ten as boys, ten as girls
10 go into BSS and 10 go into BSN (5 boys and girls in each league)
All have PA of 200
Its then a race to see who can reach the Premeirship first, keeping track of all trophys won on the way.
I may run one or two other top leagues but my Laptop isnt great with running mulitply leagus from other countries.
This is my first idea for it and it may extend depends on what people think.
You can't have female players...
I don't think we have 10 females in CSEGood idea otherwise.
I don't think those that sign up as females need to actually be females.
Oh, doesn't seem that special then, could still be good if you gave it something really unique but otherwise there'd be nothing seperating the two genders.
I think the really 'unique' bit is that it's Male vs Female![]()
But a 'unique' bit should be something that makes the game different, you would get identical results if they were all male or female as you would if they are split down the middle.
i decided I'm going to do the mls challenge in a couple of days, but i'm going to stick out the oil tycoon challenge now to see if anyone will do it. don't worry, I'm moderately hard at work fixing up the database![]()
The oil tycoon challenge is up I see and looking good.
I posted a few questions about it as I wasn't too sure.
Thanks
Evening all,
Got a question for you all:
With the exception of the English Championship can anyone tell me a league in Europe that has 16 or 24 teams in it please?
Many thanks![]()
Well there is League one and League Two unless you want a top league?
The Greek Superleague has 16 teams.
Chinese Super League have 16 teams.![]()
Gambrinus Liga (Czech Republic) has 16 teams![]()
