You are either a French man or an arrogant burger eater, take your choice!
It appears that there might be a problem with adding the MLS into a challenge.
Looking at the team information screen, there's no predicted finish so you're not going to be able to select the team predicted to finish bottom.
So probably not going to be able to include it.
Ah oh well Razer, MLS isn't that much of a challenge (to me) anyways.
Looking forward to your challenge.
And roberto, I'm neither! Can't speak French and only Americans love burgers so much they like eating them everyday, but not Canadians!!!We do love our hockey though...
![]()
British enjoy a burger or two...
Glad that you're looking forward to it though Rancer - I've just been out and got my copy and will hopefully be getting my teeth into a nice game in Brazil over the weekend.
Been thinking about the MLS again and wondering if I included it, would selecting either of the teams that finished bottom of their respective conference the previous year be a reasonable option. What do people think about that?
I have an idea for a Football Agent sign-up. Basically 15 people would sign-up and have £20 million to spend on 5 players for the premiership. Then points will be awarded for any of your players winning trophys or individual honours. Also when this happens the forummer will receive a sum of money depending on the achievement for example if one of their players wins the world cup they may receive £10 million and if they win the Community Shield they may win £2 million. A forummer will also receive 10% of money generated by a transfer for one of their players. Players can be sold and bought by the forummer throughout the season with a maximum of 15 players being owned at once although you will start with 5 as stated above. Each players price is their value within the game so obviously that will either increase or decrease as the game goes on. Updates would be provided monthly consisting of a brief sentence on how each player that is owned is getting on. I will also provide the save game each month so that the forummers can have a look to see who they may want to purchase and who they want to sell. A leaderboard will be posted at the end of season as well
I have only just thought this idea up and so could need a bit of work so please post any comments and tell me if it has been done before, I have done a search
it's definitely a good idea SL, and i'd definitely be interested in signing up if I was giving the opportunity.
Sounds good super lampard![]()
Sounds like a nice little idea Super Lampard, I'd be interested in participating.
Thanks for your support guys, i want to have a look around the game first but hopefully i will start it wthin the next few weeks
Sounds like a great idea! I would take part. It seems like everyone has posted their challenges within about 20 minutes!
Tell me about it \o/
Great idea Super Lampard. I'd be interested.
The battle of the managers
Here's an idea I came up with another site I'm a part of.
Every fortnight I set a team from anywhere in the world and then say "right, you have a fortnight, Whoever does the best in that season with them wins" And thus get 'X' amount of points?
Bit scatter shot on detail but I'm still developing.
Good idea or not
i'd say that that's basically ssestig's 20/20 challenge.
Love your idea Super Lampard, would love to sign-up
Lirim - Will it be a league or knockout (hands of) etc. ?
I'm liking your idea Super Lampard
Anyhow I'd like to now go into a little detail about my proposed " Strictly French Football" sign up.
The plan is for an even number of people to sign up ( hopefully 20). Each signeruper, then creates their player ( any position). They then get randomly assigned a Club + Partner. The sign up will last around 10 years Fm time ( 17-27). Each year will be a round. The points will be decided by the average average rating of the two players as well as mini-competitions through out the year. The team with the lowest points score gets knocked out.
Other info
Will probably use middle 10 clubs ( e.g predicted 5th to 15th) although might use top 10
Players will have to balance their attributes e.g a 20 has to be complemented by a 1.
I think thats about it. Suggestions?
Sounds good![]()
WW's FM09 Sign Up
Project XYZ - (Working Title)
Right, so it's this time of the year when loads of sign ups come out... but not mine yet. I can reveal that my FM09 sign up will be coming out in the run up to xmas, probably in the week or two leading up to the big day.
So what's its all about....
Well it takes inspiration from several of the best sign ups of the last few years - think of a mixture of:
* Bamble's OOTP Style Game
* bermybhoy's Dragon Den in Scotland
* Eurovision Striking Contest
* Shetland v Orkney Islands
* The Commentators Curse Vol I sign ups.
(credit will be given where necessary for ideas)
Can you tell what it is yet?!?!
No.... well I will reveal more in the next week or two, but the sign up will mean different roles for different people - with plenty of rivalries.
8 team captains, 8 vice captains and plenty of players.
Oh and the thread title is going to be fb (even if I do say so myself).![]()
![]()
So this was just tantalising bait rather than any calls for ideas.
Tch, tell us more![]()
cant wait
Sounds good, can't wait![]()
WW, I have an idea of what the sign up will be like, can I PM it to you though, as posting it here may spoil your big surprise![]()
Got an idea for my sign up, an improved version of one I helped with a bit for 08. Although it could be pretty hectic so I need ot sort out how it is going to work first. Well, I'd need ot PM the user first to sure I can do the sign up
Robert - the X Factor?
he didn't help at all with that
I know what it is, but i'll keep Robert's surprise/secret safe for now![]()
1) I didn't help with that and 2) no
I'll be keeping my "secret" secret secret for now![]()
For how much longer though?!
Not long hopefully
Hmm, looking through the archives and nothing seems to jump out at me :/
Sounds ambitious already WW. Reminds me that I completely abandoned the Dragon's Den
Might get back onto it seeing as I'll be FM09-less for a while yet.
sort of guessed a bit of it right \o/
well, as you know or should know, my 'The Mole' sign up has come to an unexpected ending rather prematurely. I will be doing an FM09 version, but not yet. The majority of the few sign-ups I have run have all been fairly interactive, requiring users to either post in the thread or PM/Email me information. I'm not saying I want to run a sign-up which will require less work, just something different.
I currently have a fairly good idea, but it like my other sign-ups is probably going to be very interactive, so whether or not I choose to go ahead and do it will depend.
Just wanted to post in here for advice, preferably from someone who is fairly experienced at running sign-ups.
Right, i've sort of got a base line of my idea in the above post. It is an ambitious project. Well, actually it's an extremely ambitious project. I don't think there has ever been anything like it before on the forum. My initial aim is to get 34 people on board in this ambitious project. However before I open it (don't know when that will be), i'd want to get as many regulars on board as possible.
Without giving away too much, the 34 people (34 is the maximum amount of people I can have, but I can have less if needed) will each have a massive amount of power available to them within the FM World. They will each have a huge amount of responsibility and their decisions could make or break them. They will not be a player, a manager or a Chairman.
Over the next coming days/weeks I will be trying to sort it out so I have a decent enough Opening Post for the new thread, which I don't know when will be out.
i have no idea as to what thats about but it sounds great
Dosent seem to be the invaision from GD that i was expecting so ive decided to bring my sign up forward and it should be out tonight. Hope to see a lot of you regulars taking part as its an interactive one.
I will be mikey, think you've been in a few of mine, hope it's a good one![]()
Sounds good PaulHartman71. Can't wait!
yeah it seems good to me some credit must go to you though paul for introducing interactive sign ups and also to roberto for introducing sign up challenges
Go meJust gotta finish one of the damn things now
![]()
I just had an idea for a challenge. Okay, so you take control of the team predicted to finish bottom of the BSN/S. Then, with transfer regulations(not allowed to spend any money until you are in league 1 and then you can spend 2mil a season 4mil in champ and 10mil in Prem,) you must win the prem, fa cup, league cup, charity shield and champions league). Plus, you have to win the Setanta Shield etc.
I just tried this on 08 because I still havn't got 09 and I got Redditch(BSN - 22nd predicted) promoted first season, via the playoffs(3rd in league). This was mainly down to the numerous players I loaned from Birmingham(parent club).
Its really fun and I'm not sure whether to make it into a challenge.
I know it is quite similar to Dafuge's, so I'm not sure.
Some of you may remember birdy's last sign up, the premiership draft. I made the database for it to help speed things up and couldn't wait to get it to get started. Unfortunatle it stopped halfway through the first season.
I have got birdy's permission to use the idea for FM 09. Although I wouldn't just want to copy his idea so instead of making an order for people I want to make a kind of auction for players. With say a week to buy your keepers, a week for defenders, a week for midfielders and a week for strikers. However I realise the thread would get very messy and descend into a farce so the idea would need to be refined a bit, any ideas? I would also like to find a way to get as many regulars as possible because I can't be bothered doing the sign up for 5/10 responses although I can't exactly invite the regulars first.
Oh and while I'm here I have another idea, people stop posting that's a good idea when people ask for ideas as those posts are of no relevance whatsoever![]()
think the auction would be really chaotic, what was Birdy's way. Not against you trying to make it different in picking the players, but I can't think of a sensible way of doing it at the moment.
Ok well DodgeeD beat me to it but still, it is a good idea.
Was really looking forward to birdy's but anyhow, I think doing an auction type thing is just asking for trouble really.
The easiest way I can think of would be to offer each player seperately in order of value (or anything else) for each position. So starting with the highest value GK and we all bid, then the next highest value and so on until we all have a GK, or two. Then do the same for defenders etc But that would be incredibly time consuming. Probably have to be closed bids as well otherwise all hell would break lose.
Paul, got no clue what your idea is, but it sounds interesting. I just can't figure out why 34 is an optimal number...
Robert_296 - I have no idea how birdy did it either, but how about some sort of 'silent auction'. Everyone could submit how much they're willing to bid for each player, and they go to the highest bidder. Obviously you'd need to set an overall budget, and it would take a lot of organising on your part just initially. How many players does each team get?
and people online more would get a better choice of players, so yeah not sure how that would work, but it's your decision.
But surely it'd be better to reward people that are contributing more?
yeah I know, maybe people could like bid for a cartain amount of players with a priority order and then the person with the highest bid gets them. Therefore you'd only get a couple of posts per week each. So for example say Paul had:
1. Ochoa £5 million
2. Lloris £7 million
3. Akinfeev £8 million
4. Ustari £4 million
and Ridleys had:
1. Cech £15 million
2. Ochoa £6 million
3. Robinson (Getting stuck for names :P) 2 million
4. Valdes £5 million
As Ridleys had offered more for Ochoa he would get Ochoa and Paul would then move down to his next priority for his third keeper and sign those players for his squad. Not a very good example but you get the jist? People would then edit their posts to prevent the thread from becoming clustered
He got a list of players and then got people to sign up. The people who signed up first got to pick their team first therefore getting all the best players
Right then, I've started planning my tournament, I've decided to be a bit selective this time due to the inactivity that ruined the last tournament, due to that it would be pretty much impossible to do a 32 team world cup so I have decided to stick with the European Championships format except there will be two big changes, instead of the group format that we started with last time it will be all knockout rounds, the second change is that the time limit will be taken from a week up to a week. Now heres the format I'm 99% certain will be used:
CSE European Championships
First Knockout Round: 16 teams: 8 challenges
Quarter Final: 8 teams: 4 challenges
Semi Final: 4 teams: 2 challenges
Third Place Playoff: 2 teams: 1 challenge
Final: 2 teams: 1 challenge
If you have any ideas feel free to post them, I'll be grateful for any ideas
You mean they send me a PM/em mail about what players they want? But in the end they could end up with all their players being bought by someone else. I was thiking a squad of 22. 3 keepers, 7 defenders, 7 midfielders and 5 strikers
I'm confused, what do you mean?
Doesn't matter Robert, I read it wrong.
Yeah, you would need several 'rounds' of bidding until everyone got a full compliment of players. That could be quite interesting, as you could be very tactical and bid extremely low for some players you think no-one else would go for, and way over the top for the supoerstars.
However, it might go on indefinitely![]()
whoopy D, it sounds like a good idea but it would go on way too long. Bermy, so after each round of bidding everyone's bids would be revealed?
Me and bermybhoy have both suggested exactly the same thing but in different words,no?
roberto, it looks good.
Already got some ideas for the challenges.![]()
I thought I was never gonna get an answer![]()
![]()
:S yeah sorry, not having a very good day todayMight be best to try and have a think about it tomorrow. I was thinking they bid for the players they want with priorities and they sign the first 3 available but as some people may be left without any keepers there would be anothe round of bidding for the other players until everyone has 3 keepers. Not perfect at all but I really can't see any way of making this perfect. It is just that people who got to pick first in Birdy's had a huge advantage
Yeah I know what you're saying, I was pretty happy with my team in birdy's but then again I was about 4th on the list so![]()
OY!
Ahem, right then now that I have your attention, like I said in the post that no one saw (twice) I'm gonna be more selective with the CSE European Championships to ensure it is alot better this time so I want to get a few people on board before I put it on the forum, this time I want the people that are on most days, post regularly and are good on FM. Just stick your name on the list if you want to take part and I'll be PMing a couple of the people that I really want on the challenge that don't really post on this thread. FWIW out of the lads that look on this thread that I'd like to take part are (not limited to though) Robert_296, PaulHartman71, Rancer890, DodgeeD, Walcott\'s_Wonderkids and bermybhoy, obviously I know that not all of you will have time to do it but its only one season every two weeks so it should be more than manageable.

Unfortunately I'd be out. Not looking likely to get the game until I'm home at Christmas now quite apart from anything else.
It'll be starting at the new year most probably.
As much fun as the last one looked, I don't think I'll be able to take part - it seriously takes me blooming ages to complete a season due to work commitments.
If I didn't do my sign ups I'd have more time for it obviously![]()
No problem.
I'm like bermyboy. Probably not getting the game till Christmas...but since you say you're starting at Christmas I can probably take part.![]()
don't have the time unfortunately. Have a lot more work on my hands this year than I did last year, add that to potentially starting a new sign up in the near future, and I really wont have enough time to complete more than one season a week, and I would like to continue in canvey!!'s challenge, and dafuges.
I'm in a similar boat to everyone else. My game time is limited anyway due to work and family commitments and once I get the game (by the weekend hopefully), there are a couple of big challenges I want to attempt. Would be interested if you do it at a later date though.
Bah humbug :*(I'll have to either wait a bit longer until more of you are less busy or start it with a load of people that don't take part
I'll wait a while.
ill take part deeply disapopinted at not being mentioned in that list after i completed every challenge last time
That was people that post on here alot. Obviously I want people like you and Blanco to return.
I post a lot in here, why wasn't I on the list?
Not that I'd want to take part, don't really have the time.
You haven't posted on this thread since late August...
Oh I thought you meant CSE in general, not specifically this thread.
Well I didn't see the point in specifying people that wouln't see it. Plus I'm after people that finish things![]()
I think on a forum were it is fairly rare for a sign-up to be finished, it's a bit harsh to have a dig at Ridleys for not finishing things.
The problem is that because everyone has just got the game and wants to play their own game or a dafuge / gundo -esque style game first, there isn't room for people to do interactive challenge like sign ups at the moment.
Best bet to wait for a few months and things settle down a bit more.![]()
I was joking Paul![]()
But his is open doors, I'm trying to get the best competitors in that I can.
EDIT: Plus that's like saying that the Premier League is like the Champions League...
Slight problem I've found out about my planned sign up + experiment.
1st. I won't be able to run it on 9.01, as my mac operating system isn't supported.
2nd. I can't really use the data editor, as i have to download the patch, install it, delete some stuff, re install some stuff. It's a bit of complex process
Trying to organise a bit of my sign up now. How long and how many rounds do oyu think I should do for each position? I thought two rounds of four days but then people could still be left without enough players.
i think you would need 4 rounds probably
of how many days though? I don't have a problem with the length but I would prefer it to be done quickly. The thing is, if people make lots of bids for people in the first two or so rounds then people will have their players for that position.
I think the only way you're going to find out is to try it, if it doesn't work you can always start again with a revised system.
I guess I'll try with 2 rounds of 4 days and then if more time is needed then there can be another round
Hi guys,
Apologies if this is old news but I haven't seen it posted anywhere, at least in this forum.
Did you know that in the data editor to go with the game, that there is now an option to 'Free all players'?!
You can all 'free all non players' or all persons, so that everyone starts unassigned on a free contract.
Someone has surely got to start an AI Experiment with this.
Plud Robert, it makes your proposed Fantasy Football sign up a bit easier as all the players are now unassigned from clubs.![]()
I noticed it and posted it in the group, I'm considering an experiment with all clubs equal rep and all the staff released but I don't have the time to set the repsThere should be an option to delete all people on there.
Hopefully Dietspam can make another database for no players so I can start my FM09 A New World Challenge/Signup/Experiment...
Just remembered something, are FM databases and WWSM databases compatible with each other? Or do I have to delete every single player...
And nice to see you're still awake roberto.![]()
I'm awake for the next 5 minutes when my laptop will lose power and I won't be able to charge it until tomorrow at the earliest due to my damn dog chewing the wireI swear to god I should just give up with computers :**(
