Nope your spot on. Was doing well then Fmfan's save got corrupted.
Nope your spot on. Was doing well then Fmfan's save got corrupted.
Well I'm all for it, thought it was a shame the save was corrupted
Yeah it was. Going to post the challenge tonight.
The US Election Sign-Up: Race for the Whitehouse
The era of club sign-ups is over. The era for story-based sign-ups has just begun.
No longer are people creating sign-ups where the forumers watch how their player does at a club, Apps, Goals, MOMs. Now, the sign-ups are based on television shows: the forumites in the sign-ups are representing other things, be it Apprentice candidates, X Factor hopefuls or Eurovision acts. So now's the perfect time to get my US Election sign-up rolling.
The MLS is split into two divisions: East and West. The US Political system has two main parties: Democrats and Republicans. In a similar style to the Apprentice Sign-up, tasks are set which are the equivalent of primaries. By the end, we are left with two presidential candidates: Democrat and Republican, East and West. Then, the election happens. Everyone can vote, and at the end of it, we have our president.
Now I don't know enough about US Politics at the moment, so I'm hoping someone can help me with that. I do know that up until the appointment of Rudy Guiliani, NYC was a Democrat stronghold (I've read his book). But I want to know other strongholds and such to add to the real-life side of the sign-up. The idea for voting was that everyone registers to vote. They're then split up into states. Voting begins and stops when every state has a deciding vote. Thoughts?
looks very unique and interesting canvey!!
I'm not big with US Politics so wouldn't really know much that would be of help to you though
sounds great. Rancer might be the best one to askthink about us politics as he's american i think
Rancer890 is Canadian and is big on the MLS so he might be able to help you, he's the only North American I know off the top of my head although I know there is alot.
spartans5 is another one from this forum, and Metheisman is involved in kipfish's thread. Amaroq is another one, from FMS.
I beg to differ, my club sign-up is still running, albeit slowly! And there will be another in FM09 I assure you!
It seems a promising idea but how does FM relate to this? You manage/choose a side to win the East/West Divisions and the winners are voted up as the absolute winner?
See the Apprentice Sign-up (which I'm still waiting for a vote from JoseRR in order to continue with), each forumer has a team in the MLS and tasks are set, e.g. score most away goals, win most games, etc. from which the forumites get points. Unlike TA, the forumers don't get voted off and instead there is a running table of how well the candidates are doing. There comes a point (probably the end of the season) where the Democrats and the Republicans choose their nominees, and then anyone who wants to can vote for who they want to be president.
Considering starting a new sign-up atm. Yes, I will continue with it for more than 2 weeks. Considering making it the same as Ridleys "it could be you... who's crap" sign-up. Obviously I will need his permission. But if I do get his permission then I will make it.
couldn't you do something more, original?
Being original is hard, PH. It will either be amazingly successful, or fail spectacularly. And in the first place thinking of an Idea and carrying it out is very difficult. Trust me, I've tried![]()
I can't think of anything.
Do it do it do it do it.
you arent just gonna not do it again though
I'm going to continue it this time. Trust me.
and the time before that..![]()
And the time before that, before that?![]()
Too far.
How did you post that? it's only 7/8 digits. And it wasn't too farI was counting through the ones he'd stopped doing
![]()
In between the words Too and Far, he would have had adequate spaces to make up the numbers![]()
Nah I went on reply and checked![]()
Ah right![]()
The thread is started. Get signing up.
Yes boss![]()
I'm in 2017 and I'm challenging myself to make my affiliate club, Alaves, as successful as possible by loaning out my youth talent as well as some backup players. Alaves just got promotion back into the top flight of the Spanish league and they currently have six of my players playing regular first team football.
I don't really know how to make this into a challenge that everyone could take part in, I only started to do this myself since my Spurs team are winning everything and I thought it would be a bit of fun.
Any ideas are welcome.
I have been thinking about doing an experiment but I am unsure whether its been done before or not.
I want to see which part of the pitch is the strongest one. I would either create players or move high-profile players to teams in the BSS/BSN. Then make perhaps 3 teams:
Defensive: Which should consist of the strongest defensive side and perhaps goalie while the rest should stay as normal.
Midfield:Which should consist of the strongest midfield while the rest should stay as normal.
Attack: Which should consist of the most lethal attackers while the rest should stay as normal.
It is much like Adam C's 'Experiment - Superstars in the BSN/BSS: who carries a team hardest?' but are not 1 player for each team but a whole line in the team.
Would it be worth the hazzle?
I'm currently holidaying through 1 year of a game where I loaded every European top division in the game (plus all divisions in England, Germany and France). I've edited all top division league reps to 20, descending down by 1 for each division, and domestic cups are worth 20 as well. I'm not to sure of whether I should make a thread for this experiment or not.
What are you trying to find out?
I guess I'm looking at what would happen to European competitions, quality of regens in lower quality leagues, the types of players willing to sign for smaller league champions after a year. Basically just a whole bunch of stuff.
If you think that other people will be interested in your results then start a thread.
The things you've listed there are a good starting point. I can see Champions League and UEFA cup ties getting a lot closer for the early rounds if all the teams are able to attract players of similar quality.
As for the quality of the regens, that will be linked to the quality of the facilities at each team.
Just went into this thread and saw my name
If you decide to start that thread canvey!!! don't be afraid to ask
And don't compare me to an American please, we're different people.
My friends at school already think I'm sounding a bit British lately
I'm also thinking of doing a challenge now that roberto is taking over FM08 A New World thread. Not sure what kind of challenge though...
I have a challenge in the pipeline, but it involves moving clubs every season. What do people think about how the transistion should be made. I don't want people going to intermediary clubs, but should they spend some time unemployed if neccessary, or stay at one until they can make the next?
I may have to call you on that American politics advice, rancer.
intermediary
Noun
pl -aries
1. a person who tries to bring about agreement between others
2. a messenger
Adjective
1. acting as an intermediary
2. intermediate
You got a definition wrongI only went on the net to check what it meant because I didn't understand it
![]()
In the context I meant that I didn't want those taking part to stop at another club in between the two clubs: the clubs must be managed in sequence. The original question still stands.
Yada yadaThe easiest solution would be for them to just retire after each management job and pass onto the next.
I never touched a dictionary when I was 15. I always hated them.
I'm low on ideas. Every good idea has been taken(I wanted to do a Canadian signup but that delusional LeafFan took that idea lol
)
And I just had an idea. Since there's a small club to big club from a big European country and a small club to big club from a small European country, how about going a bit east. Well, maybe the Far East
rancer890's Far East small club to big club adventure challenge
It just popped into my head. Any comments about this? I'll think about the specifics...
Go for it, if theres interest it'll be good, if there isn't it doesn't really matter.
And do Asian teams actually have their own Champions League?
EDIT: They do have one...the winner gets 600k and the finalist 400k. Not sure about the other ones though. And according to wiki, the Champion might get 5 MILLION!!! Maybe this challenge would be more tempting in FM09![]()
Last edited by rancer890; 08-09-2008 at 23:03. Reason: to answer my own question
Yes they do
Well the only playable leagues for this challenge would be: A-League, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and South Korea.
Should people be barred from trying this challenge with the A-League, considering the fact that it might be too easy...
Not IMO
Just some questions I need to ask...
Do Singapore and South Korea have relegation?
How does the Indonesian Premier League and First Division work?
I have the framework of my challenge (not much different than Dafuge's or Gundo's Challenge really, but I will add a twist, since there are so few Asian leagues playable.) but I just a bit more knowledge about the Asian Leagues![]()
http://cmfrenzy.com/football_manager...ing_teams.html
This can help in the structure.
Does anybody fancy joining me in a challenge managing Northern Ireland ?
I havnt came up with a points scoring system , rules or deadlines , as I was hoping some one would help.
Help will be appreciated.
Thanks
Singapore doesn't as that's where I was gonna run my sign up until I hit a few problems.
rancer - I can't believe that you're going to start an small club to big club Asia challenge.I had planned to do one when 09 came out, guess you've beaten us all to it now.
Time to start looking for somewhere else to do the challenge I suppose.
Yeah. It just popped into my head while playing FM and looking at a possible Japanese invasion in one of my career games
And I'm debating that there should be a Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, and Part 4 of this Challenge wherever you start.
Part 1 - Win the League
Part 2 - Win the AFC
Part 3 - Win the Club World Championship
Part 4 - Take over the national team in your loaded and win the Regional Tournament and win the World Cup
Would this be too hard?![]()
And should Australia be considered part of this challenge? They are technically in Oceania![]()
Is Gundos challenge too hard? Yes. Does it matter? no!
I wouldn't say that it was too hard, structure to a challenge is always a good thing.
I like the fact that there's also an internationl part to the challenge, I do like to try to build a nation up too. Shame that we can't do it in Gundo's challenge until you've completed it!
I remember Gundo starting a new challenge where you had to try and get the national job to go along with the club job, can't remember it exactly though. Will have to have a search.
And also start thinking about a new challenge that I can start.
Ok, roberto and Razer. I'm starting to write up this challenge![]()
Oh, and if Dafuge/Gundo don't mind, I'll need to copy some rules into my challenge.![]()
And does anyone know about the league reset dates for every Asian country playable in FM?
I might try this challenge![]()
Ok, it's up now.
Just need to know the league reset dates.
Don't think that it will take long for those reset dates to be found out.
In fact, I might be able to help with Hong Kong - I'll come back to you in a couple of minutes.
A new idea popped into my head
Since my FM08 A New World is dying off because it seriously took a lot of work, and I don't have any time. I wouldn't mind trying an FM09 A New World though, with the following twists:
What I am trying to find, and why this will be a signup/challenge/experiment
- a lot less signup spots than the 53 in the FM08 one (maybe 11 or 22 spots)
- it will be from a blank database (like the FM08 one)
- they will all be assigned to a country outside the top 100 in the rankings (if there 11 spots, they will all be assigned to 1 team, if 22, it will be 2 national teams)
- each player must have European 2nd nationalities to avoid the messup in the FM08 one, where players from countries like Sri Lanka and Singapore couldn't find a club for months
- leagues loaded tbd (but I will not load the MLS, and any other league that has the season end in December), but will be affected by the 2nd nationalities of the players. All top leagues loaded in the game will have their league reputation set to 20, 2nd division 19, and etc.
- In regards to 2nd nationality: please, can you not ALL choose English as your European 2nd nationality
Other info:
- you can signup for it
- when and how good the national team(s) will be (an experiment)
- which league will rule European football, and which teams (experiment)
- there will be a simplified point system (challenge)
That's all I have for now
- the format in FM09 will be similar to the FM08 one
- I will not manage a team. I will holiday month by month
- which also means it will be monthly updates
- I might also give individual player reports month by month (this will depend on the amount of free time I have)
![]()
i will be making a new challenge soon but have not typed up yet etc.
Post it in here before you post a new thread
Are there going to be any new challenges set/created anytime soon ?
Thanks for the reply, are there any challenges (for FM08) that you recomend , that are not listed on these forums ?
Seeing as there's been a bit of talk about small club to big club challenges and with the start of rancer's Asian challenge, I thought that I'd let you all know that I plan on starting a South American version once FM09 hits the streets.
I know there's been a previous version and that's why I'm not starting one now, there'll be a fresh challenge thread around release day.
Look forward to lots of you giving it a try.
Looks like I'll be playing a number of challenges on 09 then, as I'll want to have another crack at Gundo's, can't see me doing Dafuge's though (Sorry Daf) just don't enjoy managing in England anymore.
I've had a bit of a crack in Brazil in the past and it's rather complicated. I'll try and get some details together for each country to give everyone an overview to how each league works.
Yup, me too.
My FM09 workload and the CSEs I'm participating:
So, many things to distract me from schoolwork
- FM09 A New World CSE
- rancer890's FM09 small club to big club Asian adventure challenge
- Razer82's FM09 small club to big club South American adventure challenge
- Dafuge's FM09 small club to big club challenge (not doing Gundo's or Jose's, sorry
)
- roberto's ??? challenge
- Random signups
![]()
Alright....With still a couple of months till 09, we need a new challenge because some challenges such as the small club to a big club are slightly too long, especially with the 09 demo, around the corner. So, who would be interested in a new challenge. It could either be a:
Youth one - something about developing youth and screenshots, whos player does best etc. OR
One player - Make a player have the most sucessful career possible or something along those lines.
OR we could do a sign up or somebody else could suggest a challenge and I don't mind seeting it up or running a sign up.
So what do you think? Which is your favourite idea or give us any suggestions for a sign up or challenge etc.
Well I may have mentioned it before but I have a challenge idea that isn't mine.
On another FM forum back in the day before I joined this one I found a challenge for FM 05
The basics were that you needed to be Brazil and once they'd qualified for the WC try and do as well as you could with uncapped players for the Finals.
There was a points system but despite some searching I can't find the challenge![]()
How about a sign up where all the players play for the same team?
For example a team from the bss/bsn has been promoted to the Premiership and have 16 16 year old -10 PA players and a healthy bank balance with a medium reputaton and good youth/ training facilities. Aim would be to see who would do well and if the team from the bss/n would do well.
I've got a potentially huge AI experiment building in my head.
It's basically " Which Attribute is the most important"
I'd create 36 teams ( one for each attribute)
Each player on the team ( apart from the keepers who would all be the same) would have all their attributes set to 1, except their team's attribute, be it longshots, or jumping or whatever, which would be set at 20. It would then be a battle to see which attribute is the best.
Points
All teams would have no transfer, or wage budgets and so would not be able to bring anyone in.
Players would be tied to their club by future transfers
All Staff would be the same
Problems and possible solutions
There are 36 attributes( 14 tech, 14 ment, 8 phys), and there are no 36 club divisions ( to my knowledge)
My solution would be to do it in 22 club leagues ( i think there are these) and do it twice tech + phys and then ment + phys.
How long to do it for?
Depending on things like promotion, it might only be for a season, or it might be 20.
So what do you think?
What about colonal masters taking over in the league?
IT would be fun to see...
Ok I have an idea for an experiment I guess, but I do not have the time to run it currently, I may set it up come FM09 and have it run in the background while I playwith FML. But here goes.
Kind of based on the Super League type idea, but I was thinking of it going a lot more in depth, So I believe in Italy there are 18 teams in each league all the playable ones anyway.
So I would pick 9 of the top nations football league wise in the world. Thinking: England, Italy, Spain, Holland, Portugal, Germany, France (and I need two others) and taking two teams from each countries top league, they would go in the newly formed Serie A, then take two teams from each nations second tier and put them in the Serie B. Then for Serie C1/A & Serie C1/B it would be 4 teams from each nations 3rd division (2 into each league), and finally the Serie C2 would have 6 teams from each nation spread evenly between all the leagues. I was thinking i could continue it with Serie D as well so that the promoted teams also fit into this layout. My idea behind the experiment would be to discover what Countries leagues teams are competitive if they all had the same League rep as they would end up having in this situation. Anyone think this would be a good experiment? as for my Birds Flocking together Experiement it is still being worked on and will continue to be played in FM 08, just not updating right now![]()
This sounds like a very good AI experiment. In terms of clubs are there any leagues that contain 18 teams in the top league and the league below? If so you could have two leagues worth of teams with an attribute each and see what happens. After the first season the lower league would change as some teams would be relegated and replaced by upcoming normal teams. But this might also be quite an interesting side to the experiment, to see how the teams made up of only one attribute compare to a normal team.
http://b0o.com/31783-dougals-fm07-challenge.html
How about this challenge?
Would it be bad of me if I set this up for FM09 without consulting him? I would of course give credit to him
I have an idea for a challenge in Fm09 (I know its early but what the hell). It would basically involve "becoming a legend" in MLS (by winning titles etc.) before moving to Europe to see if you can compete in the big leagues. Let me know what you think but this is a general idea at the moment and will be refined if I do it.
Ive had an idea foe an AI experiment i will run it on 2008 and if it goes well and there is interest i will re run it on 09. Basically beacuse english football has a lot of money right now and is doing great compared to the rest of europe i want to see what it would be like if there was no money in english football. I would take all the money away from all the english clubs in the top two leagues and run it to see what happens to english football wether they continue domnating europe or they gradually drop off. Also i would see what affect this has on the national team. leagues run would be top two from all major eurpean nation
