Away Goals Rule In League Cup?!?!

Recommended Posts

I lost the first leg of the semi final of the league cup 1-0 away.

In the second leg, I scored a late winner to win 2-1, and take it to extra time.

It remained 2-1 until the end, and I was expecting penalties...

However there were none, and I had lost on the away goals rule.

1. I swear the away goals rule is not used for the league cup?

2. Why then, under the rules for the competition under the information tab, does it say nothing about away goals, and says if scores are still level it goes to penalties?

The ties are played over two matches (one at each club's stadium), with the aggregate score being used to determine the winners. If the aggregate scores are level at the end of the 90 minutes, extra time is played. If the scores are still level at the end of extra time, the team which has scored more away goals goes through. If the number of away goals is still level, a penalty shootout is used to decide the winners.
