Zutcorps gateshead - end of season 14/15 - league 2

This was a rollercoaster of a season. Started poorly, and topped out a little too soon, loosing my very seecure 1st in the last few rounds. Very demoralizing. At least we got promoted.

But I may have been to generous, so now we are in trouble. This will surely be a problem in league 1 as I now have to sell a few good players to gain that money back.. (mental note: Stop giving that large bonus payments!)

#8 - In season 2014/2015 zutcorp finished in 3rd place and was promoted to League One from the League Two.

#7 - In season 2013/2014 zutcorp finished in 5th place and stayed in League Two.

#6 - In season 2012/2013 zutcorp finished in 10th place and stayed in League Two.

#5 - In season 2011/2012 zutcorp finished in 2nd place and was promoted to League Two from Blue Square.

#4 - In season 2010/2011 zutcorp finished in 9th place and stayed in Blue Square.

#3 - In season 2009/2010 zutcorp finished in 2nd place and was promoted to the Blue Square from the Blue Square North-South.

#2 - In season 2008/2009 zutcorp finished in 3rd place and stayed in Blue Square North-South.

Chippenham Town - Blue Square Premier - 2011/12 Midseason Update

I previously said that we'd challenge for the title, and we're certainly living up to that. Just past the halfway point of the season (was so caught up I forgot to stop right at the half as I usually do!) we've only suffered 1 defeat in the league, and are on an 8-game unbeaten run overall, and a stunning 21-game unbeaten run in the league. Yet somehow, we're only atop the table by 6 points. What's really amazing is that we haven't done it with any real star players. It looks like a true team effort, and as long as we can keep it up we should glide towards League football.

On the downside, however, we managed to fall out of the FA Cup right away in the 4th Qualifying Round, as we got a draw away to mid-table Dorchester, who were able to grab a victory. Can't have everything though, and I'll gladly lose that if it means I'll be better off in league games.

Just finished my first season in blue square premier and did poor i got relegated an came last place with only 8 wins. it was my defence that let me down badly, but i did manage to win the setanta shield against stockport 6-4

haha wow, I don't think I've ever seen someone get relegated yet still manage to pick up some silver ware. You should be proud of that!

Matlock Town 2010/2011 BSP Season Summary

They say a picture is worth a 1000 words, but in my case you only need one: Relegation. I never really got going all season, and I only managed to pop out of the relegation zone for a single round. I also started off my season with a 10 game losing streak (League Positions).

Nearing the end of the season, I managed to get my future position at the club questioned 3 times, and I feared the worse as I lost 4 of my last 5 games. But to my surprise, I was offered a new 2 year contract!!

So of I head to meet my old North/South pals, and hope for a quick recovery and promotion. I fear that if I'm not in the Blue Square Premier division next year I will be out of a job. You may all be fighting to get the the height of English football, I'm fighting to keep a job.

Hopefully a year in the North/South will help my young talents get a bit more experience before taking on the Premiers, as I am thinking my teams lack of experience is what cost me.

Onwards to 2011/2012!!

I can't laugh though, I'm looking like I'll take twice as long. Good luck in league 2... but, I have one question. What strategy did you use to climb up the conference? Did you focus on pace, technical skills, or did you just find some tactics that finally worked? </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

I think the tactic was slowly building my squad each season until I have a team that is on the whole all apparently league 2 and 1 quality players, and then praying that they wont get too annoyed when I decline most transfer offers for them.

I have been using the default formations without adjusting anything, since I have no tactical knowledge at all, and finally decided to use 4-4-2 attacking since I had so many attacking midfielders and strikers that were good.

I have taken to trialling loads of islanders when they appear, and keeping quite a few of them each season, hence if my games dont get postponed due to international call ups I'm a bit stuck. I had about 11 players missing last time round.

I rely a lot on my ass man and scouts to find me players and their opinions, which is the way I have always played the game.

Just hope I have enough base ability in the squad to survive next season. At least I wont have to worry about cups that much, as I doubt I'll get very far in the league cup and paint trophy thing.

someday ago i saw this thread and i thought it was pretty challenging.. i began one and took bedford, i holidayed etc.. but now i am already in november with my first season at bedford can i still take part in this challenge???

If you give us the usual profile screenshot and it is clear you have followed the rules, then yes, it's not as problem.

Heybridge Swifts 2014-15 BSP

A solid if unspectacular season for Heybridge in the BSP, although a final finish of 19th isn't very good we didnt win any of the last 8 games and still finished 8 points from relegation zone so no real worries there.
Injuries and squad size proved crucial and an ineffectual strike force and refereeing decisions seemed to prevent any rhythm from developing.

The highlight of the season was a 3-0 second leg FA Trophy semi final win over Boston which gave us a 4-3 aggregate win. However in that game key striker Pack was injured for the rest of the season. Super Keeps 2 McConnell has been called into Ireland u21 side and is interesting a number of league one sides, he will go to higher places eventually but has signed a contract for 3 more years so if he does go it will be for lots of money. Right back Gray has also impressed enough to be called into Scotland under 21's and continues to progress altough he wont probably make the full side.

On the financial side we're making money, 600K in the bank and the board have agreed to improve training and youth facities at last.

The major disappointment came in shocking fa trophy final defeat 3-0 to Farsley when super keeps had 2 shockers which put us under too much pressure to deal with.

EX-Swift Super Kyle bags 15 goals for Sutton Utd but cant stop them being relegated from BSS.
From the table you can see Whitby bounced back from relegation as Hines and Dunna again took the title for them.

so i started with the 'mighty' bedford

had no staff or players only 4 youths. So i had to sign a whole squad and some staff too. These are the players in and these are my new staff

my star player till now has been without doubt Stefan Koffi .. he scores an average of 1 goal per game.

Im in mid-season now and have been constantly in playoff zone.. i hope to get promoted in the 1st season!

Mini Update - Witton - 10/11

Only about 8 games into the new season but things seem to be going well. I told the board and fans that we'd be aiming for a mid table position, rather than struggle against relegation.

At the moment we're 6th and looking good. The team is playing well together and a couple of the players I've brought in are making an impact.

Jay Thomas New defender who seems fairly solid. The fans loved the fact that I signed him straight away. He's slotted into the team well and shored up a fairly shakey defence.

Danny Ward Our new striker. He's been coming back from injury so he's had alot of sub appearences. He looks the part though and the fans like him

Just as well that he's fitting in well as Efe Enchamoni has scored once this season. Efe looks a shadow of himself

Charlie McD He's stepped up though

He was player of the season in 09/10. Maybe he's aiming to get it again.

Why the hell do I have to wait two years for this free transfer to join me?!

I don't get it. He's 16 and has English second nationality. No global bans or similar. I signed abother sixteen year old from a Carib country on a free and he joined instantly.

This guy looks ace, but he doesn't have a club. He's going to either retire or be all of useless when I get him eventually as he won't have played for almost two seasons

Any ideas why or is it straight up a bug?

I had it with someone from Belize. I offered the contract and I was willing to wait. When the transfer date finally came round it was too late. He'd retired. Even though he'd signed a contract with me.

I'd start again now with the beta patch but since the full patch has a data update I'll wait for that. Last year the data update caused a few new teams to be promoted, so there might be a chance of teams with lower reps becoming playable.

I managed to get Bolton to bid Â£2.5m, so although I only received about 1/3 of my asking price, it was a bit more than the Â£1.4m.

Ahh, that would explain it. Maybe it should be a warning when you're offering a contract that players from those countries can't join a foreign club till they're eighteen? Either that or you should be given the option to loan him to a team from his home nation.

Me too, waiting for the full patch, and then will start again. Hopefully, as you say, dafuge a couple of new teams will be promoted, and the data update makes this a no brainer. Lets hope it's released quickly, as can 't realy get into the game now knowing its going to be a waste soon. Oh well, roll on the new patch and a new game

Stamford is slowly starting to be a desirable place to go to. Sunderland offered me a reserve central defender valued at Â£450k for free and since I had already got some scout reports on him, I put in a Â£0 offer. Millwall also put in an offer and I have no idea why but the player has decided to come to Stamford. I get him in January.

Sunderland are currently Premiership in my game and Millwall in League 1. I'm in league 2

Well, I couldn't resist any longer!

On the 19th of june, 2008 this guy took the reins at newly promoted Gateshead.

Just how they got promoted with a whopping 4 senior players and 2 youth players was beyond my comprehension. I also found out I had been mislead quite a bit by my chairman when I found out I was the only staff member! Reading my contract again and paying special attention to the fine print I discovered the following clauses:

i) The manager is also responsible for providing the half-time refreshments for the players and fans (both of them), this shall be deducted from his ludicrusly high wage of 250 pounds per week.
ii) The manager shall be responsible for hiring some staff of some sort, I surely can't be arsed to do it myself.
iii) Oh, and the manager is responsible for everything and anything not mentioned here, if anything should happen, he's out on his behind.

So, here begins the journey of a young manager/tealady

And somehow we beat Bradford 2-1 to make it through to the 3rd round of the FA Cup, in a cup run that in my eyes should have ended in round 1.

The prize is a home tie against Liverpool, who are back in the Premiership after a season in the Championship.

Stamford has played Liverpool once before in the FA Cup 3rd round, when they beat us 4-3 at Anfield around 3 seasons ago.

Merthyr Tydfil - Blue Square South - June 2010

We kept up our good form until the end of the season, with us finishing in 3rd, and not dropping out of the play-off spots since the 8th match of the season. This was a big step up from last season, where we finished 18th, and was mainly thanks to a new goalkeeper, Richard O'Donnell, who was the key man in us having the second best defensive record in the league, and also Conor Clifford on loan from Cardiff, who was excellent throughout in both attacking and defensive roles.

The play-off semi-final was against Cambridge City, and to be fair, I didn't go into the first leg with much confidence. Since our play-off spot was pretty much guaranteed, the players seemed to pretty much give up, which meant the season ended with a few poor results. Our poor form carried through to the first leg, where we lost 1-0 away, and it could of been a lot worse. I didn't expect anything from the second leg, but completely out of the blue, the team produced their best display of the challenge so far (and probably of any CM/FM game I've ever had), with a 6-0 demolition of Cambridge, who lost their cool in the second half and had two players sent off.

Going into the final, I expected nothing less than a win. Bath had won the other semi, and I felt confident we could get a result against them after beating them 2-1 in our last meeting. The match was well balanced, but we seemed to have the cutting edge throughout, and with 15 minutes of the match left, we led 2-0. But in the 76th minute, we gave away a penalty. I could tell that if they scored, we would be hanging on for the rest of the game. Toner ran up... Saved by O'Donnell! The game was as good as over, and we'd done it against the odds (18th place predicted), 2-0 to the Martyrs and we were up!

A lot of work is going to be needed before the new season though, as our lack of depth in defence really showed towards the end of the season. Although with a bit of luck, I'm sure we'll at least be able to stay up!

After a terrible start to the season we never managed to get above 18th all season long, despite playing some good football in parts, only 2 wins in my last 20 or so games meant that relegation was always a possibility. 1 Point ahead with 1 game to go and we lose, again, but are saved as the other teams around me are somehow worse than i am.

Next season will need to see a vast improvement and settlement on a tactic as i just can't find one to work at the moment. Hopefully i can get some money in as well in the form of sales as i'm 300K in debt, for no reason but wages and bonuses.

Cup run comes to an end

It was a nice run while it lasted, but due to having a league game a few days before hand, my first choice players werent overly fit looking, so I played a pile of second choice players.

Unfortunately the 1st minute injury was to a new signing making his debut in the match

I don't get it. He's 16 and has English second nationality. No global bans or similar. I signed abother sixteen year old from a Carib country on a free and he joined instantly.

This guy looks ace, but he doesn't have a club. He's going to either retire or be all of useless when I get him eventually as he won't have played for almost two seasons

Any ideas why or is it straight up a bug?

That's fixed in the beta patch - for some reason before the patch the game was only looking at first nationalites to see whether you could sign U18 players, I had it when I enquired about Portsmouth's never aging Thailand Youngster Supat Rungratsamee, and it said somelike I couldn't sign him for two years due to Portsmouth not being in the England (English clubs not allowed to sign U18 from abroad)

The patch has fixed it, so if they have a EU nationality you can sign them, everyone else has to wait until they are 18.

Marine Blue Square North - 2009/10 - MidSeason Update (Season Two)

After last seasons playoff final defeat, this year we would win the league if the previous two years of the challenge are anything to go by, but first I had to rebuild our awful defence - conceeding 70 goals last season was not acceptable.

Though the rebuilding didn't start off to well - several squad players were released on free's when they wanted too much money, I also lost two of my better defensive players - Keeper Button was sold to Bradford for Â£100K (+20% next sale) as we really needed the money, and centre-back Mark Bradley was sold to Weymouth for Â£100K also - I couldn't turn down Â£100K considering he'd dropped out of my first XI.

The search for new players went well - ex-Spurs youngster Right-Back Takura Mtandari arrived on a free and is rated as a good League One player, Defensive Midfielder Paul Mitchell also rated as a League One player arrived to shore up my midfield, which saw Sam Tierney drop back to defence.

I also boosted my strike force with the arrival of SuperKyle after he'd been released from the relagated Barrow, and he's proven to be a solid backup when not injured.

And ex-Notts County DM/CD Mike Edwards arrived in November to cover the injury to Mitchell - though he may need to drop into defence for something that will be explained later.

The rest of my improvements came courtsey of my new Parent Team Liverpool, who were obtain when we ditched Southport - I didn't really expect them to loan me anyone, I just took them for the money, I figured I'd see who'd like to come onloan and to my surprise 7 players agreed to come on loan.

Including young centre-back Martin Kelly, full-back James Rhodes - those two not so surprised with, they are both young local lads, however I never thought Moroccan International Nabil El Zhar or Hungarian Striker Andras Simon would agree to come, both rated as Premiership standard players by my scout, at least they make up for McClements refusing to comeback onloan.

However it was lucky I managed to bring in the above players, considering the boards minimum expectation was a title challenge (How can the short term goals be attempt to win the league, whilst the long term goals are obtain a respectable position? Also this was before I brought in any of the above players). Not that the fans were impressed we managed to sell one more season ticket than last season - has anyone actually had those other 100 bought?

My team at least rose to the challenge in the league (so far), with our first league defeat occuring on Boxing day to 10man Bedford, but still comfortable top though it took us forever to obtain our 13 point lead over Tamworth (who we actually hammered 7-0

)

However the cups were a different story:

We needed a 90th minute goal from my captain Barron (who's goal was his first touch, having only just come on

) to beat Great Wakering in the Second Qual. round on a replay, after the first match ended 1-1.

The Third Qual. round also saw us need a replay to beat King's Lynn 2-1, the Fourth Qual. Round saw us drawn at home to rivals Southport who we hammered 5-0, setting up a First Round tie with League One Colchester, a near full house saw them batter us for the entire game, but we held on for a 0-0 draw, however the replay saw them hammer us 4-1 much to the dislike of my board.

Our <A HREF="http://img216.imageshack.us/img216/5350/setantashieldwz3.jpg" TARGET=_blank>Setanta Shield campaign didn't even start with Solihull beating us on pens in the second round that we started in.

The FA Trophy saw us narrowly beat [URL=http://img216.imageshack.us/img216/8248/fatrophy3qti4.jpg]Ossett Albion 4-3</A>, before crashing 3-1 to King's Lynn.

Then on Boxing day my season may have been destroyed (bad enough losing our first league game of the season), when my Chairman accepted a Â£250K bid for star centre-back Sam Tierney

Though with Â£400K in the bank the board refuse to improve the training or youth facilites prefering according to the confidence screen to spend it on a bonus for the board.

Comments on the updated Beta Patch (Applied before first match this season)

The match engine is a whole lot better now - whilst goals are still flying in, it actually appears to be down to the players ability now - I rip apart teams with high defensive lines or slow defenders, but deep defending teams throw themselves infront of the ball and gather rebounds (previously you just needed to get a shot on target to score), in goal my Keeper has actually been saving shots you expect him to, whilst in defence you can clearly see the difference in quality between my first choice defence and second choice.

Attendances last season were generaly between 650 and 850, this season, doing a lot better with have only had more than 550 (but still less than 600) fans in three league games from 14, which leaves us 12th overall in the league - which is better than FM2006 where we were nearly always bottom, except for the premership where we were bottom due to having the smallest ground. With FM2007 I played with Frickley and didn't have any problems - has anyone played with the same team since FM2006 or FM2007 and can compare their attendances?

Apart from the attendances I haven't noticed anything else amiss.

I have just sold my only fit left back having not realised Jonny Harkness is out for 7 months. I also sold my right back for 150k hoping my reserve (Steve Tully) can step up to the plate.

I have taken a big risk with the above as I'm 13 points clear at the top of Conference with 12 games to go. If Andy Caton stays fit I'll go up, if he gets injured then who knows!

I signed a couple of out of contract players.

I had accepted a couple of good offers at the end of the season for key players and let a few go who were at the end of contract. I was in th ebelief that my scouts who had done me proud the previous season would help me find replacements no problem - this was far from the case so I let the scouts go and replaced them with better.
With all of that happening the new season was approaching very fast and my squad was bare bones so I got a little desperate.

None of the new players are any better or worse than those that they replaced

I don't think the bastards are gonna give me a new contract. This is despite the fact that while we were slated to finish dead last in the BSN last year, we ended up in 10th place. We were labeled as "overachievers of the year," actually. We've got two guys in Ireland's U-19 squad and one in Wales's, despite being part-timers. Our Aidan Downes was the best player in the division with an average rating of 7.67.

Is there any quick fix to this that doesn't involve cheating?

Talking of starting again - I did so when I won the league with Halesowen - but I had loaned lots of players from my then Parent Club Birmingham and felt it was not realistic

I thought that the beta patch out at the moment had fixed this issue. Are you running the beta patch? If not do you have a save from before the sacking, if so download and install beta patch and hope it kicks in and saves your job.

I've seen my 13 point lead erode to 6. I'm slightly worried as I cannot seem to win a game anymore.

On a brighter note, although contradicting the above, I've just secured my place in the FA Trophy final.

Anyone know roughly how much cash you get from gate receipts for this game?

Life at the New Manor Ground - Season 2
2009/10 in the Blue Square North. September and October update.

Clearly we couldn't keep up such a spectacular start to the season. Whilst September would see consolidation, and another record result, the 7 games in October would yield just a single league victory, and a highly disappointing cup exit. More players would arrive to swell our squad and wage budget even further, whilst a handful of no-hopers would find themselves shipped out on loan to our feeder club, Belper.

It all started going wrong when Veiga was called away on international duty for the first game of the month. Despite having already lost the first 8 games of their World Cup qualifying campaign, the Cape Verde Islands manager insisted on calling up his three non-domestic players for the remaining fixtures. Without him, and despite taking a very early lead, we couldn't hold on against Stalybridge. Matt Somner picked up a knock in the last few minutes which would keep him out of the next fixture, but we still had enough to creep past a struggling Gateshead side. Two days later, however, we were inexplicably hammered at relegation threatened Altrincham, recording just their 2nd victory of the season.

Ugarte rescued us a point against Boston in the last minute, and two first half Tom Clarke goals got all three at Leigh, keeping us in touch with the leaders whilst the league took a break for some cup action. It wasn't all plain sailing, as ex Robins striker Dave Dixon thought he had scored an equaliser in the dying minutes, only to see it cruelly disallowed for an apparent foul. The referee played seven minutes of stoppage time (instead of the allotted four) in an attempt to offset his poor decision, but we kept the home side out.

The FA Cup had drawn us against Hucknall, a mid table side in our league. With the league being the most important challenge for us, a few players were rested, and fringe players such as Owen Story and Michael Powell were given starts. It all went unbelievably well, as we hit six past our distinctively off-colour visitors, with Ugarte claiming a hattrick, and the man of the match award for the first perfect performance of my reign. A fine way to end the month, and we would face lower-league neighbours Eastwood Town in the next round.

Mansfield very kindly sent us Ben Turner on loan for the rest of the season. But, wait a minute, he's a left back and we already have a left back on loan, from Mansfield!

. Droylsden were the first visitors of the month, and we went behind just before the break. Having fought back level, and taken the lead soon after, we proceeded to throw it away through a "Dodgy" own goal.

We could put league form to the back our minds again for a while, to concentrate on a fortnight of cup football. But first, Mr Guentchev brough Mr. Zagorski to the club to give a little more flair in the centre of midfield. He marked his debut with a goal - the second - at Hyde to see us through to the 2nd round of the Setanta Shield.

We travelled to Eastwood without Veiga (off on his travels again) and had to cope with a strong start from the lower league side. They took the lead, and we lost Tom Clarke to what looked a serious injury early in the second half. Mark King rescued us, and earned us a replay at home which we should have proved comfortable...

...and yet the pattern was reversed for the replay. The Great Dane put us ahead just before the break, and we looked to hit them on the break for the the last 20 minutes. It backfired, as they worked an equaliser seven minutes from the end. They then went on to hit us on the break no less than three times in extra time, Unbelievable.

That really seemed to dent out confidence. We could only draw at Hyde, where we had scored three earlier in the month, and we lost the next two games by the odd goal in three. The latter of the two, at Harrogate who we would face in the next round of the Setanta Shield, saw the debut of our latest signing, Kristian Dennis, from the bench. He'd been brought in purely for pace off the bench, but sadly couldn't finish for toffee

We finished the month with a win, though only just, over the Hucknall side we hammered recently, and in front of just 283 fans, a new league low.

Four Ilkeston players command greater than 7 average rating, led by Poul HÃ¼bertz, with Mark King and Matt Somner also unsurprisingly in the mix. One real surprise in the list is Lee Dodgson, who the board were so keen for me to justify last season.

Point of interest - one of my players, Mo Harkin, actually scored IRL in the FA Cup this weekend

i'll make this brief, with a more comprehensive update to come tomorrow, but i'm currently top of the league with Matlock at the end of September 2008. From 9 league matches, our record is 8-1-0, which i'm delighted about...

i have a lot to thank my strikers for, especially Darryl Knighs, who's hit 14 goals in 11 games!!

let's hope he keeps it up!!

Stamford - League 2 - 2020/21 End of Season Update

The Coca-Cola League 2 seems to be quite interesting. Top 7 teams get promotion or playoff places, and only 2 teams get relegated. Making it in theory a simpler division to stay in and possibly easier to progress from.

Saying that, after my promotion from the BSP last season, I knew I had to strengthen my defence and see if I could survive. Luckily noone told my players they were playing in a higher division and thus continued there form from the previous season.

A final finish of 9th in the league, only 2 points away from a playoff place, has to be a good result for a first season in a division. Just wonder what next season will hold for me.

The league cup and paint trophy were a waste of time, but we did cause 2 upsets against league 1 sides to get to the 3rd round of the FA Cup, where I was forced to play most of my 2nd choice players against an in form Liverpool side.

Overall a good first season in League 2, and if I can hold onto my good young players, next season could be just as good if not better.

A good FA Trophy run, coupled with any form of setanta shield run and a few games postponed for internationals, and you may as well give up on expecting any of your players to be fit from March - May.

I'd love to suggest getting a Fitness Coach, but since I didnt get any replies ever from my advert for it in the BSP, I have no idea if that would actually work.

Quick half season update, before I go to bed. The might of the Mangotsfield are going pretty well in the BSP currently lying in 2nd place, 7 points behind Ebbsfleet. Got to the second round of the F.A cup, where i ran a very strong Sheff United side, containing James Beattie, going down 2-1. Full update tomorrow, when hopefully with a bit of luck, I'll complete the season.

How did you get your fitness coach then, because I just placed a new advert and the first week has given no response as always. I have 6 assorted coaches at the moment, but could do with a fitness coach I think.

There's a staff search option, similar to the player search...

I got a dedicated fitness coach, but I don't know what the difference is between signing a fitness coach, and just signing a normal coach but assigning him only to strength and/or aerobic...

CHELMSFORD 11/12

Just got promoted to League 2. Last day of the season saw me needing to win against Forest Green at home. They went one up before I scored two. In the last minute they had two shots cleared off the line.

I lost a 13 point lead at one stage. Relieved to go up, but I bit my nails causing them to bleed.

I have the FA Trophy final to come. I'll post the score when I play it and a season update tomorrow. For what its worth Andy Caton has now scored 46 goals in 52 games this season, (32 league goals in 45)

I got hammered 4-0 in the final. Disappointed? Not really - promotion was the aim.

After a fantastic first-half to the season, the second-half was mediocre in comparison. We lost the plot, and ended up backing into the playoffs, finishing 3rd in the league.

Well, delayed on playing it slightly as my pizza delivery arrived,

Despite the advice you just gave me kccircle, I elected not to rest players, as I thought I'd need form more than energy, and Exeter had given me a 4-0 hammering earlier in the year. Plus, Matt Smith had picked up a knock in the first leg which left him out injured for a few days, so I was going to have to give myself the best chance to make the final.

Damn that was nervewracking. Very even game, and when Barnet went up I wasn't very confident about us getting back into it. But, a fortunate bounce off of a corner was enough to send it into extra time, and the return of Matt Smith after injury, even if he had to start on the bench, was what we needed to put us through in extra time. So, it's time for League Football!

Chippenham Town - 2011/12 - Blue Square Premier - End of Season Update

And thus, it was a season that went from excitement, to disappointment, to excitement. It started off well, including a 21-game unbeaten run, before a downturn in the 2nd half of the year. Yet despite backing into the playoffs, we managed to turn things around just in time to get ourselves promoted. So far the pattern's been one season to establish ourselves in the league, one more to earn promotion, and we can only hope it continues in this vein.

Gloucester City Tigers Update :League Two

Well we're in preseason now with the Tigers, the board offered us O for transfer fees but a massive hike in wage budgets. Good think everyone was already on pro-salaries. This allowed me to move a fraction of that to the transfer budget.

Last season I managed to move over 100k thanks to the sale of one of our stars, this season with 80k I'm trying desperately to land a keeper my scouts have found. At last count the club turned down a 60K transfer bid.

Managed to pick up another defender and strengthened my backline. So lets hope upfront we still keep finding the back of the net. My assman is doing a pretty decent job at winning friendly matches..he just won the last one 8nil..better than me..i've managed to lose all friendly matches thus far.

A dedicated fitness coach is paid less, so it's better for your wage budget. Although they can only train Strength and Aerobic.

Matlock Town - Blue Square North - 27th September 2008

after a pretty decent pre-season, my hopes for the season were to challenge for the play-offs, despite my board wanting us to establish ourselves in the league. This was based on the fact that i had managed to sign a lot of my better players i'd had for my one season in charge of Worksop, which had seen me lose in the play-off final. i had respectable 1-1 home draws with Sheffield Wednesday and Yeovil, which had boosted my confidence.

With a wage budget of Â£2.3k p/w, i have built my squad for the challenge under a bit of restriction. i have a couple more loan players than i would like, but with a tight budget, my desire to sign some quality players, plus my wish to earn promotion asap, i have had to do it.

League Table

as the league table shows, i'm currently flying in the league, although obviously it's early days and i don't want to count my chickens yet. plus, when i post positive updates, my form tends to nosedive!!

but anyway, it's a risk worth taking. the league table shows that i'm currently scoring goals for fun whilst pretty tight at the back (which i'm particularly pleased with) season highlights so far include the 7-1 away demolition of Alfreton and the 4-2 away win over Worcester. In fact, i'm delighted with my awy form in general, which had been average with Worksop.

Fixtures

i'm pleased with my squads performance as a whole but i can't deny that the form of one man in particular has gone a long way in my success so far. His name is Darryl Knights, and he's a Matlock legend already!!

Darryl Knights - Superstar

His goalscoring record of 14 in 11 games is brilliant, and included 4 in the demolition of Alfreton. He has pretty much everything you could ask for in a striker - namely pace and the ability to finish. I had to include a minimum fee release clause of Â£190,000 in his contract to sign him, but i hope to be able to negotiate a new deal soon....

First-Team Squad

As i have said, my squad has performed well as a whole so far. some of the stars of the team so far have been Gardner and Siclair, my two wing wizards, Oliver Hotchkiss pulling the strings in the middle of the park, and Zavon Hines providing good support to Knights. I have included screenshots below:

Hopefully i can maintain this sort of form and continue the promotion push through the Autumn and beyond. The only thing i am concerned with is the small monthly profits that we're making - looks like i need a good cup run!! am only getting about 600 through the gates at the moment. As well as this, i've noticed that my chairman is willing to listen to offers for the club, so i will need to keep my eye on this as well.

Best ever cup win for Stamford.

Never beaten a side 2 divisions above us before in a cup, and it was infront of an almost sell out crowd at the Vic Couzen's (Stamford's) stadium.

Of course I may be imagining things since I have only just woken up and feel like I'm still asleep.

Chelseadaft Chippenham Town Blue Square Premier 2013/2014

Well this was my first season in the Blue Square Premier after spending 5 seasons trying to get there. My board asked me to avoid relegation and i just about managed it, which is pleasing that i didnt go straight back down.

It was one of those seasons where you just wanna make sure you dont go back down. I was pleased with the outcome. Brought some more players in and got rid of the deadwood and survived, apart from that not much else to say about this season. Time to rebuild for the coming season to improve on this one.

Just been offered a new 2 year contract with the same expectation, to avoid relegation which is fair enough. Lets hope i can improve on this seasons position!
