Default Careers Forum HQ (including forum rules)

    Hello!

    Forum Rules

    1. Do not reveal the PA/CA of players or staff. This is the same for regen players or staff.

    2. You can have one thread per career. Multiple threads are allowed but anyone found abusing this privilege will be dealt with at the moderators' discretion.

    3. Your initial post should state the setup your game has, including leagues loaded, database size used and any edits or extra leagues that have been loaded. Threads using the current version of FM do not need to add the version to the title, moderators will add versions to thread titles when a new game is released.

    4. Do not accuse others of cheating. We want to keep this forum as friendly as possible. Any accusations of cheating will be dealt with at the moderators' discretion.

These rules are still subject to change.

    Useful Links and Information

Mod Requests - please use this thread for any changes that need to be made to your threads that can't be done yourselves.

Career Updates Forum Anecdote Thread - for single posts about careers that don't need their own threads

FM Career Forums Discussion - for forum related discussion, questions etc.

The Career Information Request Thread - a place to ask questions about teams, players etc.

    How to Post a Screenshot
    • While in FM, press Alt and F9
    • A picture will be saved to a screenshots folder, in the FM10 folder in your documents
    • Upload the image to an image hosting website such as Photobucket
    • Post the direct Url to the image here.
    How to Add Links

At the top of the forum, go to 'quick links' then 'edit options'. At the bottom, select 'enhanced interface' and save the changes. This will give you access to the extra posting tools that make it easier to post links. Once you've done this, highlight the word you wish to turn into a link, then use the link button (looks like a little globe) to paste in the direct Url to your screenshot.

    Careers Forum HQ

This thread shows you information for all of the threads in the Career Forum. It will be a help if you are new to this sub-forum and you're wondering what it's about, or maybe you're looking for specific genres of thread to read about, E.G - You only want to read about journeyman save games. In this sub-forum there are many save games, some you may never have visited, there's over 35 on this list, so in theory there should be some you are interested in! The list below shows all of the thread's on this forum with at least 20 posts, split into different categories.

If anyone has any issues with their save game's 'category' then please post and I will change it. There was no real special reason for 20 posts, I had to set the benchmark somewhere because I didn't want to mess around putting every single thread on the list, only for it to be abandoned soon after. I haven't included any closed threads either, as I presume they were all abandoned.

If you do want a thread added/updated, then post in here and I will add it/update it ASAP.

Small club to Big club/LLM One Clubbers/FMS Challenges

The career forum isn't the only sub-forum on this website, as you will probably be aware of. There are also other sub-forums, such as Challenges, Sign Ups and Experiments (commonly known as CSE), FM Stories (aka FMS) and Lower League Managers (usually shortened to LLM). In CSE there are a set of challenges that are extremely popular, the aim of the challenge is simple, take a previously unplayable club to being Champions of Europe and the Country you are managing in. I have also included those who manage in the Lower League's with one club to this category, and the few people that choose to post about their FMS Challenges.

    [FM08] Knockbreda F.C - 1 Man. 3,000 Dreams

Roar like a lion and soar like an eagle
    User: Pangaea
Summary: In this save game Pangaea takes Trafford FC from Northern Premier Division One North to, well as far as possible. Having just achieved promotion to the Coca Cola Championship, could Pangaea achieve the impossible and take them all the way to the Premiership?

    Big Club Manager's

Lower League management and Journeyman career's aren't for everybody. There are some amongst us who prefer to manage a 'Big' club, whether that be to enjoy success or to take their favorite team in real life to glory. The term 'Big' here is used for basically any team that starts the game in League Football, apart from River Plate.

    My Call For Assistance
    User: GreyedOutMan
Summary: Massive Arsenal fan, GreyedOutMan started the thread by saying 'basically I'm not very good at FM'. In this save game GreyedOutMan posts updates and asks for advice and tips from fellow FM'ers on certain issues.

Juve got to be kidding me!

Ron also hopes to manage Internationally, starting at U19 level and slowly working his way up.

    Getting the Robin Bobbing
    User: Scoham
Summary: As the official Charlton researcher for FM, Scoham is probably the most knowledgable Charlton fan on the boards. Can Scoham guide his Charlton side back to the Premiership?

Leeds United.. Can Kelly Bring them Glory?
    User: amkelly802
Summary: After letting a random number generator decide what club he was going to be, he only as himself to blame for drawing Leeds. The question I pose, is the same as in his thread title, Can Kelly bring them glory?

    International Exploits

Although International management is enjoyed in many of the above save games, none of them are exclusively International management saves. The save games below tell the tales of the user's who wish to emulate the success' of the great International manager's of real life, such as Marcello Lippi, Franz Beckenbauer, Sir Alf Ramsey and Steve McClaren.

Fabio Crouchello - Taking England to South Africa 2010

    User: Crouchaldinho
Summary: Despite an appalling thread title, Crouchaldinho aims to take England to the World Cup in South Africa, and he aims to win. The question is, will England win the World Cup for the first time in 44 years?

    Three Lions on my shirt...

    User: Raware

    Other...

Well, there's always one that has to be different isn't there?!?!

"You'll never win anything with kids"
    User: WH
Summary: Inspired by Alan Hansen's famous quote, WH decided to create a club without any players or staff, and named them 'The British Bulldogs'. With the aim of only signing young talent who have been dumped by other clubs, as well as using players from his own Youth Academy, can WH ever reach the dizzy heights of the Premier League?

    Miscellaneous

    Anecdote Thread
    User: All
Summary: This unique thread's purpose is for people to post a 'snippet' of their career, without the pressure of starting a brand new thread. This thread is not just for people who haven't got a thread, it's also used by the likes of dafuge to show off their next big amazing player. NepentheZ also announced that Andrew Smylie had retired in this thread.

Good work in getting this up Paul.

A couple of suggestions: could a place be found for the Anecdote Thread and Information Request Thread? Miscellaneous perhaps?

Also, would it be worth having an 'archive' list of formerly popular but now non-active threads? Could serve as a good benchmark for future threads.

I've added in the threads that DodgeeD suggested, as well as the Mod Requests thread. I'm not sure what to do regarding the 'Archive' suggestion, only AcidBurn, WH and Saxonaitor have actually kept the original images in their threads. Perhaps I could add an archive section showcasing the threads that have won awards in the annual award ceremony, when that's applicable?

Post-awards is probably the best so there is at least some kind of filter for entries.

I don't know but I did put a lot of effort especially into the first one. I also got the impression it was pretty well liked but I could be wrong on that.

It's nothing compared to Raware's or Acidburn's really but I suppose it would be some recognition of what I did here, instead of rotting away on the third page.

Had a WoW streak for about 3-4 months about a year ago. Very addicting at first but as i was approaching level 70 it started to get boring and tedious. After I hit 70, I really didn't feel like paying more for Lich King so I quit cold turkey. I have a sister who plays 24/7 though for the past 3 years. She's diseased with WoW.

Do they really need updating? Hear me out...

Theoretically, people should read careers from the start. Therefore, if you're new to the forum, each description is accurate as the reader is coming to things at the start of the career. If you won everything in sight and moved on, that will become clear as the reader... reads.

    I agree.

For anyone that has been following my thread, they will know that what I am trying to achieve is more interesting than the trophies I've picked up along the way. I'd rather just have a general description with the long term aims in it.

I also do agree that they don't need to be updated to the latest. Setting a decent general description and the save aims should be enough to get the casual reader started.

Later on, it'll be a case of whether he likes the style (thus following it) or it isn't his piece of cake (thus ignoring it)

Maybe add my current save to the list now, "Never felt more like singing the Blues..." as it's coming up to 50 replies? It's an LLM one clubber...at the minute as I want to try and take Long Eaton as far as I can but in future it could become a journeyman depending on any offers I get.

It appears Rule #1 needs to be clarified or deleted. Player Attributes are being posted or linked in about half the threads.

PA stands for potential ability, not player attributes.

It is the numbers that can be found using tool like genie scout that are not allowed to be mentioned, player attributes are fine.

Isn't it about time we updated this thread? All the careers listed in the OP are FM10 ones. I haven't noticed PaulHartman71 around for a while though so should we just start a new one?

Ok cool. I will get it set up in the next few days. I'm off Saturday and Sunday so I'll try then. dafuge how would I find out what sort of saves people are playing? Would it be ok just to post a question in each thread asking? Some threads I know what sort of game people are playing. Like Gio and you are playing journeyman saves, right?

With the journeymen saves, I think you should divide them into World Journeyman and European Journeyman saves. So people who want to see a Euro save, but not necessarily want to go to Asia or Africa can read them.
