Edle
Can someone explain how these work? I know of a person who lost the first play off game he played but still played more games and got promoted.
Tom14
From what I can remember the top 4 teams of the Spanish B divisions (B1, B2, B3, B4) go up automatically and the teams who finish 2-4 go into a playoff where a further 3 teams will be promoted. lodzubelieveit
Last year IRL the top four teams in each division went into the playoffs. But it wasn't a straight 16-team knockout - I can't remember exactly how it worked, but the teams who finished first in the divisions got a bye from the first round of the playoffs. AntoniusS
The 4 groupwinners are paired in playoff 1, the numbers 2,3 and 4 of each group are placed in playoff 2 In playoff 1 the winners of the first pairing over 2 matches are promoted, the losers drop back to playoff 2, similar to teams finishing third in the Champions League group stages dropping into the EURO League knock-out stages. They enter playoff 2 in its second round, along with 6 winners from playoff round 1. They then play a knock-out competition to determine the final two teams to be promoted
dontask
has to be the most complicated promotion system in the world!!!!
vex
From wiki: Beginning with the 2008-09 season, the four group winners will have the opportunity to be promoted directly and be named the overall Segunda División B champion. The four group winners will be drawn into a two-legged series where the two winners will be promoted to the Liga Adelante and enter into the final for the Segunda División B championship. The two losing semifinalists enter the playoff round for the last two promotion spots. The four group runners-up will be drawn against one of the three fourth-placed teams outside their group while the four third-placed teams are drawn against one another in a two-legged series. The six winners advance with the two losing semifinalists to determine the four teams that will enter the last two-legged series for the last two promotion spots. In all the playoff series, the lower-ranked club plays at home first. Whenever the is a tie in position (e.g. like the group winners in the Semifinal Round and Final or the third-placed teams in the first round), a draw will determine the club to play at home first.
