IRC - Chat with people across gameworlds and participate in discussions about BETA!

Hey everyone,

During the past week some of us BETA testers in Coppell found it quite annoying to "chat" in the forums during downtime etc. so we made a Channel / Room on the old and epic IRC network.

For you that didn't use IRC back in the days, read up: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_Relay_Chat

It is a very easy way to communicate with a big amount of managers at once, more or like - lobby in your gameworld, but in text based chat!

This is how you download, connect and start discuss!

Download a client from:

http://www.xchat.org/ - Xchat - cross operation system client (Mac, Windows, Linux)
http://www.mirc.com/ - mIRC - most used IRC client since the early 90s (Windows)

Then you have to install the client, and when you have installed it, you need to connect the server which is IRC.UTONET.ORG and join the channel #FML In both tutorials linked here you can read up how to connect and join the channel:

for the mIRC client, http://www.mirc.com/install.html and the Xchat client, http://xchat.org/docs/start/

You can also use the Java client, for those who don`t want to download and install a client:

http://www.utonet.org/chat.php - Then in the status window write "/nick yournameornick" and "join #FML" of course without the "

we setup an irc channel on quakenet last year....no one used it

We used it a lot during downtimes. But as there hasn't really been any downtime recently I for one just kinda stopped logging in to IRC.

You can be sure it'll have people there again next time coppell goes down tho (giggle)

Ah thats a shame, i find using IRC much better than using the forums to talk

irc is great for slapping people with wet trouts. It's mainly used by FPS communities or at least it used to be in the old days. Say hello to my friends in #apota on quakenet
