Why do German clubs pay shareholder dividents?

Recommended Posts

I would like to ask a question which emerges with every new version of Football Manager: Why do German clubs pay shareholder dividents?

Only Borussia Dortmund have issued stocks in real life and would be able to pay dividents. Every other club belongs to the clubs' members, not a/the chairman who is just the head of the club and it's members. So, how comes that German cluba pay dividents to the shareholders after finishing the season? There are no shareholders (exception is Dortmund)! I'm fed up with paying up to 18 Mio. Euro to people (<- shareholders) who don't exist.

Could anybody explain this to me? Maybe I'm just not getting the point in it.
