OLD POST

Hello people,

I got bored a few days ago and made a script that would find the ID's of anything English/Welsh/Scottish/N.Ireland become British and see what happens.

Screenshots

http://users.ecs.soton.ac.uk/shp106/fm/team-gb.png

http://users.ecs.soton.ac.uk/shp106/fm/olympics.png

Download

Download as a ZIP file (167kb compressed, 16.1MB XML file.. not bad compression ratio!)

http://users.ecs.soton.ac.uk/shp106/fm/Team-GB.zip

Currently (As of V0.1):

- England, Wales, Scotland & N.Ireland are no more! They are Non-FIFA nations with a reputation of 1 in Oceania and play almost no friendlys

- All players/coaches etc. have British nationality. All regens are British.

- Britain can qualify for the Olympics (however they and Ireland are located in Central Europe, so DO NOT SCOUT UK & IRELAND region - sorry - Most likely stops Work Permits but havn't looked at that)

- Tested for stability until 2022 on holiday... fully stable :)

- In order to fill up Europe I moved 3 non-Fifa countries to Europe (Reunion, French Guiana & Guadeloupe)

- For some reason the game puts GB in place of Acotland in qualifying (with a good chance of qualifying)

- People can play for Team GB after 5 years in any GB nation

Not Yet Done (I'm a masters student now, not enough time)

- Full League Structure, I simply placed a dummy two tier league to test stability of the nation mod

- Havn't set full parameters of Team GB

Bugs

- The game sets GB to have 0 population, this is just cosmetic and the top teams still buy as normal

- Despite setting GB to have Wembley as national stadium, it doesn't for some reason!

- Not strictly a bug, but the XML takes forever to load in the editor (it's a relatively big file)... slow to start a game in FM as well (then again, same with any large XML file, plays smoothly in-game though)

- I should put in a "Select XI" side for England/Wales/Scotland/N.Ireland as in my test, England were selected to host the World Club Cup, but with no teams it just stopped the cup from ever running... the game ran, but the cup just stopped dead... needs fixing...

- Some staff are not showing in Team GB

Future Work

- I can either develop it or...

- You are free to use this XML as a basis for any GB mod!

Just edit the awards etc. - e.g. Welsh player of the year etc. doesn't work properly now!

Remember

Set your managers nationality to British and not the default English (or one of the other 3 british nations)

Feedback

Always nice to hear some feedback! Cheers, Steve

tbh, I found a txt file of "almost" all players in it, then used PHP to put them into a MySQL database.

I then pulled all the players from the database and wrote an XML file using my PHP parsing script...

There were some players missing from the csv so manually did the remaining players (not much) and cities etc. so took less than a few hours to create.

I can share the PHP scripts with you if you want, can't remember where I got the csv of the players though :s (somewhere on this forum - db1000.txt)

The two scripts I made (very simple, couldn't be bothered with OO PHP/Transactions for a 10 line script)

To move it to MySQL DB

http://users.ecs.soton.ac.uk/shp106/fm/fmsql.txt

To parse the XML for making players British (much faster than a macro on the editor etc. - The editor is just not powerful enough) - It just put it as current file - so view source to view the file...

http://users.ecs.soton.ac.uk/shp106/fm/xmlparser-gb.txt

This makes it quite tempting to develop a more powerful editor (If I can pull all data into a MySQL or other DB)... Might be a good research project next semester (then again maybe not)

Thanx mate I'll try it out tonight just to find the text file whit the ID's in it and you are right the macro way is not that efficient like the last year probably because this years editor is slower than the last years

this looks great, as a mere undergrad i could whip up a quick league system for you?
Future Work

- I can either develop it or...

- You are free to use this XML as a basis for any GB mod!

If you want to, you can create your own GB league but please reference the fact you used my XML as a base (note, the TEAM-GB tactic etc. parameters need doing as well....)

I will most likely get round to making my own sometime over the next week...

Cheers, Steve

Of course, full credit to you for doing this, i just dont want to do my work so doing this instead. I think im properly going to ditch the home nations from the game and add monaco, the vatican and another to take the spaces they left.

Mate thanx for the scripts but it looks like I'm too stupid to figure it out how it works so I'll just stick to a makro

OK just one question is Northern Ireland in GB because I made a GB league (renamed England) whit all the players and staff transferred to English nationality from Scotland and Wales but didn't include N. Ireland so should I

N.Ireland is not part of Great Britain... BUT the team we call "Great Britain" in the olympics etc. is actually the United Kingdom (England, Wales, Scotland & N.Ireland)... and not GB (confusing eh, I guess GB sounds better than UK?!)

i tried loading these after mine failed, and guess what it doesnt load for some reason. Anyone had this problem? its both the databases in this thread ive had a problem with the game just giving up on its attempt to load it. never had this probelm before and all my old databases loading fine its just when i try to load a british one.

its just not wanting to load for me. Mine keeps getting crash dumps, where as yours and stevens just stops altogether.

Got a rough idea what causeing mine but to prove it i have to start over, which is my fault really for getting 12 steps ahead.

I've knocked up a League, using Stevenhp1987's database....

I do this every year, and steven saved me hours of work changing nationalities - so thanks to him

http://www.mediafire.com/?n4gkgwjtij4

Cool, thanks for that.

I have been working this weekend fixing bugs with the TEAM-GB team (there were a few I didn't notice before) and have been working towards my own league structure complete with TV movement, prize money, cups etc while testing it regularly to keep it balanced.

So far, I have come up with a balanced 5 tier Football League system (not implemented non-league yet) comprising:

British Premier League = 18 Teams = http://users.ecs.soton.ac.uk/shp106/fm/BritishLeague/prem.png

British Premier League 2 = 18 Teams = http://users.ecs.soton.ac.uk/shp106/fm/BritishLeague/prem2.png

British Championship = 24 teams = http://users.ecs.soton.ac.uk/shp106/fm/BritishLeague/champ.png

British League One = 24 Teams = http://users.ecs.soton.ac.uk/shp106/fm/BritishLeague/league1.png

British League Two = 24 Teams = http://users.ecs.soton.ac.uk/shp106/fm/BritishLeague/league2.png

(Screenshots to follow)

In addition to a British Cup:

http://users.ecs.soton.ac.uk/shp106/fm/BritishLeague/premtrophy.png

British Premier League Trophy = The 36 teams placed into 9 groups of 4. Play each other once, 9 group winners and 7th 2nd best placed teams qualify for first knockout round.

Football League Trophy = Featuring all 72 Football League Teams - League Two plus top 2 teams from each Regional Divison in Conference (4 from wales, scotland, n.ireland and england) in first round. League One & Championship enter in second round - Not yet finalised as Non-League not yet implemented

Differences from Riazzi's Edited DB

Okay, some things I have so far implemented differently from Riazzi:

+ Fixed bugs - including "unknown stadium" bug in olympics

+ Can't seem to make them play exclusively in Wembley... the national team now play in Millennium Stadium or Hampden Park

+ Made new leagues and cups as new competitions with new history meaning for example Man Utd show the English Premier League History in a different section to the British Premier League.

+ Will Implement regional non-league

+ Attemping to get a super cup to start from second season...

+ Implement TV dates (not done in Riazzi's db)

When will this be released

When I implement a temporary Non-League (6th tier) structure then I can release V1.0 (so a couple days) which will have the Premier League and Football League playable (top 5 tiers). Another two-three tiers will be made available shortly afterwards.

Good work steven....

TV dates arent really important to me... I just wanted to get a move on with actually playing!!

No worries, it's good for people to be able to play quickly :)

It's also good to give people different flavours (ie. different league structures) to choose from.

Thanks Steven.

Can i ask as im using Riazzis database to modify, and no one has responded to my thread. As i am wanting to change it so it has some of my own work in it, as stated above full credit given to all people.

How did you manage to modify what teams where in what groups in the world cup qualifiers. Is this a script? if is what do i need to look for?

You can not edit which teams go into which groups, only move nations between continents which is locked out in the last patch. You will need to find the work-around thread to implement it.

I managed to edit a data file to move nations around continents. Although i find that it still wants the home nations in European leagues. If i could get them around this i have discovered with all information transfered over yo could make them dead nations.

What decides who is the overall winner of the two Premier Leagues? Or is it the Premier League Trophy?
