He has finally done it, he just hit his 308th International Goal for England, In doing so he has passed Gareth Blacks previous record of 307,

A fantastic achievement from him and it was a decent goal against N.Ireland to get him to the milestone,

Higgins 308th International Goal - He picks up a ball over the top cuts in from the left, goes past a couple of players before thumping it in from the edge of the area. A typical Higgins Goal

Now it will be interesting to see just how many he can get as he should still have a good few years left, and with me being England manager he has no fear of being dropped or left out

It is a great achievement, but i think he did get lucky in the fact that i took over as England Manager before he had turned 20 so i have had 10 years of managing him at international level, i am sure that made a difference,

Also, it has taken him a little longer, as i think Nep said Gareth Black was only 28 when he quit that save so he would have been way ahead if he had continued as Higgins has just reached it at 30

The current manager has to step down soon enough now surely, you get another player in who is a young prospect and you could reclaim what Smylie has lost lol. It's a shame it was FM08 you did it on and not FM07, on 07 Smylie probably would have kept going until he was in his late 40's lol.

I seem to recall Gary Neville was still the best English right back at 42 on my FM07 game lol, I bought him about 6 years prior to get a cheap first team option in whilst I looked for young prospects to find there were none that could easily be obtained, and same in the England set-up.

He kept playing for England until he was 44, and for me to the point where I ditched my save where he was 49 lol. Smylie with less degradation like on FM07 certainly would have been truly phenomenal. But yea, now Smylie is out the way, invest as heavily as you can on getting a good team around your new player see what you can do to challenge Kroblues lol.

At age 17, Cully has already hit his 100th Knockbreda goal. He has also been called up to the N. Irish squad, (but didn't play) and scored 15 goals in his last 5 games (2, 4, 4, 4, 1) - He tucked away 4 v Rangers in a 6-0 Champs League win, and is pretty much on a par with what Smylie was doing at this age. I REALLY need to be N. Irish manager if he's going to break Smylie / Spence's record. Otherwise, it's just never going to happen. But without doubt, I've got a 2,000 goal striker here.

Also, that's not a bad strike rate is it? Spence didn't really start getting past 100 goals a season until he was 19, just depends how many seasons he has at his peak.

So season 1 he was a touch behind, but his goals to games ration in season 2 is JUST ahead of Smylie. If cully can bag 100 goals this season, I'll be delighted.

Cully still going strong this season, with 44 goals in 21(1) Apps. So still at bang on 2 a game. He was injured for 1 game, and I rested him for 2 games. Want to keep him fresh, for the maximum chance of goals. Hopefully 100 goals will come this season. And when it does, I'll give it a fist pump

And so that brings to a close the dominance of football in the lone striker position for the legend. He will now be switched with my son Marc Beckford so that Marc has a shot at getting between 1000 and 1500 goals. Probably one of the greatest players to have ever lived.

Keirrison from age 20 - 35 (with 2 years in Spain during that time to boot) is close to 2,000 so that is with just 13 years. Had he been at Stoke since at 16 in the Premiership, and my chairman hadn't sold him I reckon he would have been fairly close by now lol. Leigh Stones (once Keirrison retires) will be gunning for it, he came through at 14 or 15, so I'll definitely be looking to try and get him there lol. Stones came a few years too soon though, which will lessen his overall total I suspect.

Actually looking back, you may be right. You need 137 goals a season for 22 years to pull it off, Keirrison only managed that in 5 seasons, would have been 6 for definite the year he had 85 goals by January 1st others would be speculative guesses. Bizarrely, he's broken beyond that mark more as hes got into his 30's than when he was younger and in his prime.

His 4 last seasons were 117, 170 (best ever in a season for Keirrison), 138 and 137. The 4 seasons building up to his transfer to Real Madrid where he was at his best, come in just short of with both being close to 600 goals. Seems to require a goal ratio of 2.28 across a 60 game season, his ratio for Stoke is fairly close (2.21) but his career ratio is a bit short (2.004) at times like this my billionaire tycoon chairman should be looking to have Keirrison cloned, and embark upon some youth restoring experiment.

Chris Higgins

Having seen some signs of decline last season i was concerned that this could have been the first season that Higgins was going to drop below the high standard he had set himself, I need not have worried.

A tweak to his training schedule soon had the finishing and dribbling back to 20's and he barely missed a game, his Physical stats are declining and no amount of tweaking the training has managed to stop this, he has dropped 2 points in acceleration and agility and i dont think his pace will be far behind, still he managed to finish with his best season total to date

He passed Gareth Blacks International record and with the help of some poor teams in the confederations cup he has moved this on to 329, he also passed 1800 career goals so only 196 till the big 2000 so i am now getting more confident that he can make it.

Next season should see him potentially pass four more milestones, he is rapidly heading towards 350 International goals, He is close to 500 career assists and he is moving towards 1000 career appearances but the big milestone will be his 1500th goal for Tottenham which is now only 25 away.

Good news is that he has also just accepted a new 5 year contract so providing he sees that out he will be just turning 36 and i may be able to tempt him then with another 2 years, fingers crossed.

The best thing to do to keep him scoring is to set your team up so that he is the main outlet. With his assist counts, you could almost say he's providing too many goals for other team mates that he could be getting himself. Look to make slow, gradual changes as he ages and his assists should come down to just around 15 or so a season, and he should then be getting 10 - 15 goals more a season.

I now have a real dilemma here. I've just found & signed for £40m perhaps the greatest 18 year old there has ever been, in the form of an AMRLC/FC by the name of Paul Childs. Now i reckon he's got a real shot at 2000 goals here, but there's a catch. I want my son to reach the 1000 goal mark, but with Childs in the main striker role, he won't reach it. On the other hand, if i try and get Marc to 1000, Childs will be about 25 by the time he gets to the main striker role, and the chance of 2000 will have well and truly disappeared.

So gents, what should i do? Get my son to 1000, or Childs to 2000? (screenie coming shortly of Childs btw )

I'd say Childs to 2k hamilton. Marc Beckford will always be valuable as he's your son and I'm pretty sure he can make the 1k mark but getting Childs to bigger and better things will be more satisfying imo. Just my two cents

Yep, cheers and that's what i've decided to do. Despite being a really good all-round player, Marc just isn't a real poacher of a striker, he's much better in the supporting role. I've played a few games with Childs and he's like Brennan in so many ways, but this time i've got him younger and with a firm team already established around him. He really has a massive shot at 2k, and i honestly think the Higgins' international records could be withing reach, even if he finishes at around 370 goals for England, because he's just an out and out striker.

So yeah, 12 goals less than Smylie, in 6 games less, but for this year, I still have 10 (maybe 11) games remaining. 120 Would be the ideal target for Cully this season.

Well of the 4 landmarks he could have reached this season, Higgins managed to achieve 3 of them,

He hit his 1500th goal for Tottenham, He got his 500th Assist and also made his 1000th career appearance,

Unfrtunately decline is really setting in now, his goal output has dropped and he barely limped past 100 goals for the season, he is now getting found out a little at international level aswell seeing his output drop massively, i am hoping it may be a blip, but could be the start of the decline i have been fearing, still 2000 goals is the aim and one more 100 goal season will see him get there, i was hoping for 400 international goals before the end but am not sure after last season, still a fantastic career and we shall see what the future holds for Higgins

He is also now just 24 goals behind kerrison , although he has an inferior goals per game

Owing to a faulty motherboard, Keirrison is still unable to add more to his total. He will be back once I get this sorted, it was working for about 36 hours before it died. The replacement will be here around wednesday or thursday, so don't expect too easy a ride with Higgins once I get that back :P

Of course he will eventually come out on top, Keirrison has at most 3/4 years left lol.

To be honest Santy001 i am not sure Higgins will stay ahead of kerrison for long, his decline is really statrting to look as if its terminal

His game was very much based on his pace and trickery and his physical stats are dropping like a stone, this season may be the water shed and i will see how he gets on but not sure he will last more than another year or two, so if you get kerrisaon back up and running i think he will probably end up ahead and fair play to him

I began to have that with Keirrison, you need to really micromanage every aspect of his game to prolong his career. Play for like 60 minutes then sub him off earlier if he has 2 or 3 to his name if there's a midweek match too. Constant tweaking to his training schedule, his aerobic is intensive though to try and stem the decline of his pace. It is a lot of effort, but at the time I started this I was trying to get Keirrison to compete with Smylie, so went all out on that front to squeeze as much out of him as I could.

As pace declines just leave his attacking mentality further and further up, reduce his creative freedom and don't tell him to wander from position. Set the other striker to hold the ball up, through balls often, try and get a striker with the PPM looks for pass rather than shot or whatever it is, and set him to targetman, ball to feet, or in the air if he's good in the air.

I want to try and prolong Keirrisons career as much as I can as well, partly because he doesn't want to become backroom staff yet lol.

Well, he finally broke the record. And this will probably be his last season, as I'm not really enjoying this save anymore. I may go back to it at some point, but for the near future he's done, with a grand total of 3161 goals. He's slowing down a ridiculous amount now, and his only goals are tending to come from when they get put on a plate for him and set pieces.

Chris Higgins

2000 goals achieved, it was a struggle and he is finding it harder and harder to maintain his phenomenal scoring record as the years catch up with him,

He again hit 100 goals for the season, but only just. His goals per game has dropped again and i am not sure we will see another 100 goal season from him,

Still he has reached the target i was hoping for so anything more from here is a bonus,

The only serious target i have in mind is hopefully 400 international goals, he is 28 away from the milestone so another season or so and he should get there,

His stats are declining but it is only his physical attributes that seem to be in free fall, even with training at intensive i can not halt the decline,

On the plus side he has come out to say he wants to stay in football after his career ends, i am just hoping that it is not to soon that he decides to do this,

Sadly it looks as though Higgins is not far from the end of his career, his goal output has dropped dramatically and he just isnt the same player he was, his acceleration and pace that used to rip through the best defences has been reduced to almost walking pace and at the top level of the Premier League he just isnt quite up to it these days.

To keep him going for another year or two i am going to have to micro manaage heim big time, and at the moment i dont get the time to play in that amount of detail so Higgins may be given a rest for a while till i can really spend the time in getting the tactic and his training tweaked to lengthen his career and keep him effective. Still he has had a fantastic career and i will definately finish it off in the not to distant future as he is close to a few more landmarks,

He needs only 9 more international goals to reach the unprecedented heights of 400 international goals,

He is close to clocking up his 1000th apperance for Tottenham

And i memory serves he is not to far from his 1000th League goal for Tottenham as well

Also on the plus side he has stated that he will definately stay in the game once his career finishes so he could well end up on the staff eventually.

Same answer as roberto from me, it's cheating, therefore it's a no. The editor is only allowed for adding extra leagues, and not for changing anything else, which i think is in the OP.

I might have the player to do this challenge, or at least get close. He has a handicap in that I only signed him this season aged 20 and therefore his goals beforehand don't count, but Jose Gramajo of Guatemala might just get me as close as I've ever got.

28 international goals in his young career and 21 league goals (under me) so far, so he is on 49 goals so far.

Will definitely stick with him through thick or thin on 150k a week and paid 35 million for him, should be worth it, would be nice to get his composure and natural fitness up, but he seems to be coping good without it.

Only reason I'm 4th in the league is because my next top scorer has 5 goals

It's even better that Jose isn't a first season regen, who normally are better than the normal production of regens, came through at a guatemalan club at 2012-13. Seems to have some insecureness about him though, but praising him seems to keep him happy.

Just play him to his strengths. With Brennan i found that not all of the chances had to be handed to him on a plate & that he worked well when supported by a target man.

In the case of Gramajo, he looks like he has the ability to score quite a few headers, has the pace to beat the defender and brilliant finishing, but his composure & natural fitness are lacking as you said.

The first thing that i'd do in that situation is to assemble a squad of very attacking players. Reason being that he will need more chances to score the same amount of goals as players such as Brennan & Higgins due to his lower composure, so naturally to create more chances, you're going to need a more attacking team. Try and play him with an AMC/ST target man with a very attacking minded CM. The target man will knock the ball down to the CM, who will play a through ball to Gramajo. As he has the pace to beat most central defenders and the strength to hold them off if he can't run his way past them, then he should score quite a few from this kind of tactic.

If that doesn't work, then i'd try the other type of tactic, which is to get the ball to the wingers, who run to the byline before crossing it into the box for Gramajo to head home from around 5-10 yards.

Ideally, use a combination of the 2, or alternate tactics depending on your opposition, but that depends on the strength & depth of your squad and your budget which you've got to buy new players.

Oh, and one more thing, make sure he's the penalty taker. Yes, his penalty taking attribute is low, as is his composure, but even with these setbacks it will probably get him an extra 5-10 goals a season, which can be crucial in making the 1000 during the latter stages of his carrer.

Thanks for the advice. I have Higuain/Torres as his other striker, with 2 attacking wingers and a midfield duo of Huddlestone and Lucas. Seems to be working well for him, not so much for the rest of the team though.

No problem, it's a massive task so any player with a chance of reaching 1000 goals should be given as much assistance as possible to reach the milestone & complete the challenge because players like that come along once in a blue moon usually.

That's the problem you have when trying to complete this challenge, the team can suffer as a result of your aims to get your main man to 1000 goals. In the end though, the player will bring success to his club, attracting better players & laying the foundations for continental and world domination, it just takes time, so have patience. If you believe you will succeed, then you will succeed.

He had a very good season, as can be seen, although he did go through an 11 hour drought for the club, in February, which was the only reason he wasn't the premierships top scorer, or smash the record for most goals in a league season for both the club and the premiership. He still managed to get 51 goals for club and country, including 3 club hatricks, one 4 goal haul, as well as an international hattrick. Overall a very good season, and at now 21, he isn't near his peak. Some decent stat increases, and physically, bar natural fitness, he is an absolute beast of a player. Might have to take a drugs test on him soon

I had him starting as a lone striker, but decided to adapt the formation to bring in Fernando Torres with him. TBF my tactic isn't great, only scraped 4th with Liverpool (albeit an improvement for them in recent years), think some others here have decent tactics though.

I'm in Wales in year 2016 and have a guy that has 147 goals in 141 matches so far, but he is not performing great at times. I think it is due to my 4-4-2. I wouldn't mind getting him on a better score ratio.

He's slowed down a bit as he only has 72 goals for club and country (59 club, 13 country), with 5 premiership dead rubbers (won the league), at least 2 champions league games, with 3 if I get to the final, and 2 world cup games for Jose before June 24th when I do the update of his stats. 80 goals should be a minimum to expect now.

His value has also gone up to £36 million, more than I spent on him, after it dropped as low as £22 million

An excellent season for Jose which saw him end up grabbing 66 goals for Liverpool and 16 for Guatemala. He was consistent for the majority of the season, always getting goals. He scored three hatrick and three 4 goal hauls, along with many other important goals such as the 2 goals that won the Champions League against Juventus.

His next short term target is to better the 41 league goals scored by Roger Hunt in the 60's, so that he can hold that record as well.

Jose is also getting recognition from the footballing world, being the winner of 8 singular awards, as well as gaining many player (and young player) of the month awards, and countless team of the week, as well as various team of the year/tournament awards.

Actually I changed the tactic to accomodate Fernando Torres into the team, no idea why as he isn't doing that well for me at the moment

Got a striker from West Brom coming in who has the potential to be nearly as good as Jose, same age as well, so he will be the replacement for Fernando Torres. 10 million as well, which isn't bad considering he scored 13 goals in the premiership for a relegated West Brom side

First of all apologise for the screenie, went past changeover day without taking one A good, if not brilliant season, helped by a late goal flurry, including a 4 goal haul in a 5-4 win against AC Milan, his only of the season. A lack of international fixtures, plus being dropped for a friendly oddly enough, didn't help, but he is still on track I feel for a 1000 goal haul.

A rather good season for Jose, better than last season as he played the same amount of games and picked up more goals, especially in the international scene. Another positive for the club was that Jose wasn't the only one scoring goals, as his strike partner Gary Robinson chipped in with 26 goals, as well as a useful 15 goals from Eduardo Salvio He also isn't alone in the assist charts either, as Eden Hazard beat his assist record with an incredible 24 assists in all competitions this season from midfield (a defensive role as well)

Jose's going along at a decent pace in his quest for 1000 goals imo. Might even make the 1000 appearance club as well at this rate

In good news, I can look forward to a new stadium being built in my honour as well, in Griffin Park, a new 60k stadium due to be built by 2022. Once I get that, the only thing left to look forward to will be a son, as I've won it all club wise.
