Jesus christ, that's some achievementDon't think even the great Andrew Smylie managed that, fantastic kroubles
Any chance of a 200 goal season?
Yeah, that would have been simpler.
For those wondering about the extra manager that you can see in the screenshot, I decided to take over Loughgall (much like Nep with Dungiven) in order to give myself a bit of a challenge.
Edit: 200 is certainly possible, he's got one already but this has a great chance at being the biggest season of his career. We generally play around 15 games in April, so if he can get around 30 there, as he usually does, then it's a very good chance
If he does manage to get 200 this season, he could potentially get very close to 3000.
Throw in a couple more 175ish seasons, and he'll be around 2650ish at 33, with possibly 5 more years in him to get 350 goals. I've never thought that it would be do-able with Spence, but if he has 2 more storming seasons after this, it's possible. Just.
Keep it up mate, brilliant career he's had so far![]()
If he keeps this up then he may scrape past 3000 for East Belfast, yeah. Not entirely likely though. He did just sign a new 5 year contract so I have him until the season he turns 36 at leastI think he's on roughly 2300 in total now including Northern Ireland goals.
I never thought he'd do this well, thanks.
I've found a pretty good gem but I can't really get him to score that much (I'm in Championship).
Any tips for a tactic?
What I've done is basically designed my tactic around getting Spence as many chances as possible. So the centre midfielders are on long shots- rarely, and through balls- often. His strike partner is on the same, and the wingers have their cross aim set to far post and near post to aim it at him. Seems to be working.
Sorta. 4-4-2 with AML and AMR instead of ML and MR. This is FM08 too.
I'm quite happy to upload my 4-4-1-1 tactic from FM09 Mikael if you want it, FM09 tactics files work with FM10 iirc![]()
Here's the download link Mikael![]()
Also, Brennan has just scored his 900th FCUM goal. He's scored a few more since that screeenshot, and is now just 31 goals away from the magical 4 figures overall, and it's only the middle of December!
I said that the 100 goal season days were over, but they might not be just yet!!
The Legend.
The Goal.
The Game.
1,000 goals complete. (.pkm linked there)
So he's finally done it. 12 years, 1 month and 2 days after joining FC United of Manchester, Brennan scores his 1000th career goal. What a fitting way to score it too, a header from inside the penalty area from a David Vrba corner, a player who has provided around 300 assists for those 1000 goals. Incredible stuff.
Here is a video of the goal itself, a fitting way to end his quest for 1000 career goals. Just 65 more club goals to go until he gets 1000 FC United goals. That's the next target.
PS. Sorry if the video isn't of a good quality, i'll redo it if anyone wants me to
Well done hamilton. Good to see you joining the 1000 goal club. And in the Premiership too, even more impressive than any of my completions.
Congrats Hamilton, A truly Fantastic Career,
Hopefully Higgins can join the club aswell eventually.
Do you think he has much left in the tank?
Well done on 1,000 goals dude. Get that end of season report up ASAP.
Also, nice layout, looks amazingly familiar![]()
Cheers krobluesIt really has been a remarkable achievement, and to do it in just over 12 seasons in the Premier League is beyond words really.
Thanks PVNot sure if he has too much left in the tank tbh. That's because as soon as he gets the 1000 FCUM goals, him and my son will be switching roles in the team, so his main job will to be create goals rather than score them. Should still get around 1200 overall though i reckon.
Cheers Nep, I'll get it up sometime in the next day or 2, i still need to play the rest of the season.
And yeah, sorry about thatJust thought that it was a fitting way to present it.
Congrats a 1000 goals in that league is some achievement![]()
it really is impressive even with the use of FMRTE on several players I doubt I could do it![]()
Chris Higgins
Well i dont really know what to say, except WOW,
This kid is getting better and better and has won every award possible by the age of 21, Not only does he score goals but he creates as well.
I have never on any version of this game had a player score over 100 goals in a season, in fact until this kid i had never had anyone get over 65 goals.
I decided at the start of the season to tweak my tactic to really try and get Higgins onto the end of most chances, through balls from everyone and no long shots, It turned him into a monster.
The 1000 goals looks like a gimme from here, Injuries permitting "very firmly touches wood"
The biggest question for me now is how many he is actually going to score, he is half way there almost and you could say his career has still only just begun.
Just out of interest, what is the highest ever goals scored in the Premiership? I know Smylie was a Legend in Northern Ireland and i dont think i will get anywhere near that but would be interested to see what the Premiership record was
Also If anyone is Interested this is Higgins current Biography

Whoah !
I've actually been thinking, how many goals could someone get in the Premier League if you engineered them to be perfect, ie gave them perfect attributes in the right areas for a striker, might try that actually, obviously couldn't be included in this thread but could be a decent experiment. Still don't think they'd get 1,000 though, seems to be impossible without a human player.
Over 2 a game, whoa. That's incredible in the Premiership.
Spence has 194 goals this season, with 3 games left to play. Can he make it to 200?
2 games to go, 195 goals. And Stewart just got his 100th and 101st goals of the season too
Last edited by kroblues; 28-03-2010 at 17:01.
Jesus christ, what a strike rate!
He is well and truly one of the greatest players that we've ever seen in this thread.
As for the Premier League record, santy001 will hold that with Kerrison on FM09. Can't remember what it was exactly, but i know he was into the 90's for quite a few seasons and probably broke the 100 barrier in at least one season
C'mon kroblues, 5 goals in 2 games is definately attainable!![]()
5 in 2 games is a walk in the park for Spence
You can do it kroblues
The main worry I have is that Spence is utterly exhausted due to being played in more or less every match in April. Which, as Nep will confirm, is a lot when you're doing well in NI.
We'll just have to hope for 5 penalties then!![]()
Not quite. Another match played, and only one goal again. He'll need to score 4 in the Cup final against Glentoran to reach 200, which isn't entirely likely, but possible if he has a good game.
Only one for him, so he finishes the season on 197 goals, which is still his second best for East Belfast. Season report will be up once I've played the internationals in June.

As you saw above, very close to 200 goals for Paul Spence, with 197 goals from 62 games, an amazing total considering he is certainly on the downward section of his career. A 5 year contract signed, which will see him through until the age of 37, has certainly decreased my nerves about keeping him, and interest is slowly starting to wane as he moves through his 30s. Attributes are starting to drop also, but physical stats don't matter too much in this league, so the longer his finishing stays around 17/18 the longer he should hopefully hang around 100 goals per season. He nearly made it to 100 league goals again this season, finishing on 98, and if he had played in the one game he missed that would almost have been a certain milestone. For the first time in a while he didn't finish as Champions League top scorer, but that probably had something to do with losing 3-2 on aggregate in the quarter finals.
A major milestone was reached in his career this year too: 1000 appearances for East Belfast
For Northern Ireland he is steadily closing in on 2 milestones. Namely the most caps record, which stands at 120, and he has 107. The other milestone is 100 goals, and at 99, it may only be one game away.

He's getting quite good, this kid. If I keep hold of him long enough to hit 1000 I'll post a full history.
Nice one mate
I'll update this thread when I get in from work tonight. Great reading. You've probably got 500 more goals in him before he gets to 36. After that, every season is a blessing. 3,000 is DEFINITELY possible. Keep the faith.![]()
I'd hope so. Spence is probably my best chance at 3,000. Also, I found out that I can comfortably make a squad with backups from my youth players rated as leading stars![]()
He's got at least 500 goals before he's 36 imo. He's 32, still going very strong indeed, and i would be quite supprised if he didn't get 3000 now.
Add in a couple of 175 goal seasons, and he's at 2700 at 34. A couple more seasons at 100 a game (probably an underestimate) and he's at 2900 at 36, with a 2/3 more years to hit 100 goals. Definately possible.
Great work mate, keep it up and hopefully Spence can make it to 3000![]()
Thanks for the support. He seems a lot closer when you guys put it like that
Although he may drop off a little if I go for this experiment where I only use players that have come through my youth academy.
Screw the experiment, get the man to 3000 goals!!!![]()
Yessir! *salute*
Although, I think around half of my team are graduates from the youth setup anway.
Hahaha![]()
Good man krobluesKeep the faith in him through thick & thin in the next few years and he will repay you with the 3000
Around 5/6 of my first team regulars are from my youth academy too, great feeling to know that the goals are being supplied by homegrown players. I'm guessing that Northern Ireland are doing fairly well with your youth players in the side and you as a manager?
Just checked. Out of my first team for this next season, 5 of the first choice are youth graduates. Spence deserves his own thread. I will make it if he gets to 2500 before he turns 34![]()
Just a quick question for you Nep, what were Gareth Black's final international stats?
Ehhh.. I don't remember exactly. It's in this thread somewhere... 1 sec, I'll find it![]()
Gareth Black - International Stats
England : Games, 130 | Goals 307
Epic, I know. 307 goals for England. He was only 28 when I stopped that save game- He would have slaughtered the 200 cap mark.
Jesus christ. Was thinking that Marc would be able to get somewhere near that, but probably not!
I asked my ass man to set up a load of friendlies this year, and they've been against teams such as Zambia! We've won 12-0 three times this year already! Marc's currently on 143 England goals from 87 caps at 26. I thought that it was something around 260, which is attainable for Marc i reckon, but 307 is just too much!
Stop being so good already!![]()
![]()
100 goals for Northern Ireland for Paul Spence now, getting goals 100, 101 and 102 in a 4-4 draw with England.
Edit: and 103 comes in the next match, against Andorra
And now Spence has flown past 2400 goals in his career, in total, with his 32nd, 33rd and 34th of the season against Loughall (appropriate, no?) to take him to 2401 career goals.
Keep 'em coming, krob![]()
I've stopped playing for the night so I could play a bit of Mass Effect and then pack to go home tomorrow. Gonna be on the slooooooow laptop for the next couple of weeks so probably less frequent updates![]()
It'll make that last goal all the sweeter- Remember what happened with me? I didn't have my laptop for weeks as Smylie neared 3,000
![]()
That seems to be a common occurenceIt's almost as if the game knows you're near something big, and sends small gnomes out to destroy key bits of the computer. And that shows that I should probably get to bed if my mind is conjuring up images like that.
And i said that he was past it!
Seriously, is there any stopping this goal machine?! Where will the terrorising of defenders end?! 32, still smashing in the goals as if he is 25. Such a legend.
Season updates for Brennan & Marc to follow shortly![]()

A step backwards from last season in terms of club performance, but a ludicrous 29 international goals this season! Albeit against the likes of Zimbabwe and Nambia! Currently a little off the pace needed, but by the start of next season at the very latest, he'll have switched roles with Brennan, and then it should be goals galore for Marc!![]()
Spence is now up to 2500 goals in his career, 2395 for East Belfast. He's getting there![]()
Chris Higgins
Well having had such a good run and my comment about the 1000 goals being a gimmee, Higgins proceeded to be hit by a flurry of injuries, it started in the 2nd game of the season where a torn muscle resulted in 8 weeks out and i have to say he was not really fully fit till about February, he came back and didnt really perform, picking up a number of smaller niggly injuries throughout,
However, a sensational return to form in the later stages saw him almost get himself up to another 100 goal season, but just falling short at the death,
Still, a good goal output and we are still on course, only another 428 to goat 22 years of age.
I would like to think i will be aiming for 1500 or 2000 as long as no more injury problems, he is still young and has plenty of years left in the tank. Would also love to challenge Keirrisons Premier League Record as i really think Higgins has the ability to do it

This is just too easy for Higgins!
His international record is brilliant as well![]()
He is certainly making a mess of most Premier League Defences,
I would be very interested to see what his actual underlying CA/PA are, but i have always flatly refused to download any aids or editors,
However for this player i may have a peek once his Career is on its last legs i.e. Hopefully when he is 38 and just scored his 3000th career goal![]()
Optimistic!!!!!!!
Well maybe just a bit![]()
Got a couple of potential candidates for this on the go. One of them is a real-life player too.
Currently managing Venezia and have just finished the 2011/2012 season securing a second successive promotion meaning I'll be in Serie B next year. It's pretty much all thanks to the strike partnership I've managed to forge at the club.
The first player is Federico Carraro. He found himself out in the cold at Fiorentina having never played a single game for them and following my promotion into Serie C1A, and a partnership agreement with Fiorentina, I managed to bring him in on loan.
The second player is a regen, also from Fiorentina, Emiliano Gai. He came into the footballing world in 2010/11 and played just once for Fiorentina (having an abysmal game with a 5.80 rating). His attributes are unbelievable, especially for this level, and in the summer of 2011 I managed to bag him on a free transfer.
They've forged an unbelievable partnership together in their first season at the club, and already list each other as 'preferred personnel'. Both are also capped at Italy U21 level.
The stats are:
Carraro - Played 42, Scored 50, Assisted 26
Gai - Played 41, Scored 49, Assisted 21
The next move is to sign Carraro on a full-time deal and keep the duo together in Serie B, as they'll still tear the league apart. My only worry is that compared to other record holders they may be late starters at 19 and 18 respectively. Lost out on a couple of vital years there.
Well Chris Higgins has just scored his 655th Career goal (aged 23), and in doing so has managed to pass Oswaldo Even in the all time list from the 1st page,
He is also rapidly coming up on 100 International Goals as well, His output here should be helped by the fact i have now taken the England Job so can unashamadly make him the centre of everything for England as well as Tottenham
Next Stop 1000 Goals and beyond![]()

Still plodding steadily () along, is Paul Spence. With 169 goals in the 60 games he played, he dropped under 3 a game, but it's still a phenomenal return for someone in his 30s. His physical stats are beginning to drop, but even a pace of 13 should keep him in decent positions in this league. Still as sharp a finisher as ever though, so the chances he does get are being put away regularly. An injury in mid-April hampered his season, and probably took his last chance at a 180 season away, but if he can keep above 150 for the next 2 seasons then 3000 has to be a real possibility. No contract worries either; he's staying until he's 38 at least, under contract that is. No idea when he plans to retire. He is also closing in on 2500 goals in total for East Belfast, although with International goals he is well past that milestone and powering towards 2600.
At international level, he moved past 100 goals quickly and is now on 105 goals from 111 caps. Very close to the all-time caps record for this guy now.

I am not sure Nep would ever forgive you![]()
Yeah, I should probably be grateful he's not a mod if I ever beat Smylie. I'd be banned within seconds![]()
Chris Higgins
Another season down, and what a season!!!!!
Keeping Himself Relatively injury free and tweaking the tactic even more to make it centre around him he literally tore up the Premiership, He is now probably scoring about 70% of the teams goals
He now has only 258 goals to go to reach the magical 1000 and judging by his form this season i would expect to hit that mark in the next season and a half, when he will be 25![]()
Only one way to describe this kid and that is Legend, and i honestly think if he can sustain this and keep injury free he could be looking at a massive career total, maybe into the high 2000's
He is also going to see an increase in his international goals as i am now the manager and can use the same tactic for him on the International stage as well. Although he did reach the 100 goal mark for his country this season, which is pretty scary stuff for a 23 year old

****ing hell PV!
At this rate, Gareth Black's international records are going to be smashed!
He is Pretty Special
What is Gareth Black's record?
I am hoping that he is going to challenge Keirrisons Career record by Santy001, but i think Spence and Smylie are a step to far,
But he is without doubt the best player i have ever seen on any version of this game,
For a forward he has 20's in almost all key attributes, and all his Goals have come at the very highest level, Premiership, Champions League, Internationals etc

Well just finished Playing through the 2018 World Cup Finals!!!
In which Higgins hit 17 Goals as England Claimed the Trophy
Not a Bad Start to the Race, and quickly moves him up to 114 Goals in 64 Caps![]()
Fookin hell, Higgins is flying through the goals. 2000 has to be a real possibility now, although in the Premiership I imagine the goals may start falling off once his physical attributes begin to drop.
I tend to agree kroblues, I think he is peaking early and will then decline early, much like Michael Owen i would suggest as he relys very much on speed and trickery for his edge.
Hope i am wrong but i think that by the time he is 32ish he will be struggling to maintain his goal output,
Still, even if his goals fall by 50% he may be getting more than 50 a season, and if he does that for say, the last 5 years of his career, that's around 250 goals. Plus it's maybe only 2 seasons until he gets to 1000 in total, so I'd say 2000 has to be a minimum target.
Your Probably right kroblues,
If he can continue at around 150 a season till he is 31/32 that should put him at about 2100,
So i would be thinking that 2500 would be a realistic target
2608 goals for Paul Spence in total, and with 109 international goals, that means he is only 1 goal away from 2500 for East Belfast
At least, that is if my maths is right.
Even at age 34, he's still going along at 150+ per season. Certainly helped by the terrible standard of the N.I league meaning that his physical attributes going through the floor didn't affect him too much. He's not looking like destroying teams too often now, but he's usually acummulating 2 or 3 per game and then cutting loose against the weaker teams. His 166 goals in 65 appearances this season has certainly helped him in his quest for the mystical 3000 goals, and he passed 2500 goals for East Belfast this season, a remarkable achievement.
On the international stage he is still plowing along, moving on to 119 caps and 114 goals, another ridiculous achievement considering the relative weakness of Northern Ireland. He is probably aided by the fact that he has played with 7 of the first team at some point, and 4 of them still remain at East Belfast, including his strike partner now for both club and country, Mark Stewart. He is now level on caps with Pat Jennings, and one more appearance will be enough to ensure he captures yet another record in this astonishing career.

After 2000 goals
289 goals to go
Maybe only 2 good seasons away from the milestone, which would be unbelievable. If he plays until age 38 he needs to average just over 70 goals per season, which seems very attainable. To do the unthinkable and beat Smylie, he would need to average nearly 110 goals per season, which while unlikely, is becoming more and more plausible by the season. Please don't kill me, Nep

Chris Higgins
Another Solid Season, but was really hindered by injuries, he missed about 2 months in total and at busy times so around 15-20 games, he really needs to be injury free if he is going to get to the 2000's as i hope, Still only 122 goals to go till the 1000 so barring any further injury problems that should happen next season at 25 and then we will have to see how he can kick on

Any 100 goal season is a good one really, especially as to get 2000 he needs to average that over 20 years, and as he's coming up to what should be his best years, he has a real chance at it.
Mental strike rate really, especially for England! His and Marc's international records are pretty similar and at similar ages, should be a good race to Danny Robert's international totals![]()
The Countdown is most definately on for Chris Higgins,
Following his last game, 99 goals to go to the Magic 1000
Seems Higgins could almost definitely pass Keirrison. The problem I had with Keirrison, is my chairman accepted a bid from real madrid, so I lost him for 2 years in which time he only scored 60/70 goals I think maybe a bit more. It took me 2 years to get him back and he came back on fire. I've got a new PC coming soon and then I'll get Keirrison to see out the twilight years of his career. Having stepped down as Brazil manager to pick up Leigh Stones international career has been a bit damaging. I also really need to sort his career out too, he's not even 20 yet and breezed past 200 goals already if memory serves.
If hes ever to fulfill his potential, he needs Keirrison to retire, but he's still averaging almost 2 goals a game at 35/36. I am spending huge amounts to keep the team at the very peak around Keirrison to keep him banging them in. I will see out Keirrisons career soon as I get my new PC.
Good man santy, been wondering recently whether Keirrison was ever going to return![]()
You know what, I genuinely hope he beats it. It would be good to have someone else up here, because you know, as the only one so far, I get some accusations and such. That being said, the sheer fact you have got so close, has encouraged me to load up FM08 again, after not playing firstly due to FM10, and now due to FML, and carry on, hopefully finding another 3,000+ Striker
I'm actually quite near the end of my current season, and will be looking for a top prospect when the season is up, for who I can get a nice amount of goals with.
I'm off work on Tuesday, and will update the thread with all the new goals tally's etc then.![]()
I'm afraid i'm sitting on the fence here, i'm not hoping that Spence beats it, i'm not hoping that he doesn't get it.
What i'm hoping for is for the 2 great men to finish on exactly the same number of goals. Now that would be the stuff of legend, wouldn't it?!![]()
If he ever gets to 3,145 I'll stop playing him. If he ever gets there.
The one thing that will always have crippled Smylies career is Nep never being NI manager. Despite Keirrison getting a rather substantial amount of caps for Brazil, he wasn't a regular in the side up until he was 26/27 so he suffered too a bit in that regard. I suspect his twilight years will be the same as Smylies, still capable of performing but because of his age and dwindling CA he won't get selected. I'm hoping to keep Keirrison going until he's 40 or so, with very careful management I've prolonged some players careers to their early 40's in other saves on 09.
You shouldn't stop him if he gets there Kroblues, if someone is in the position to beat Nep then they should take it out of respect for the achievement lol.
Yeah, if you get there, and don't beat it on purpose, I will hunt you down and punch you square in the nuts.![]()
Maybe I'll get him to 3,144 and just stop playing for a while, torture you all some more.
Or, I could, y'know, play him in a few more games (and knowing my luck he'd hit the mother of all goal droughts)
Just as a point of reference, Smylie only scored 200 (ish) goals after the age of 34. So he was already into the 2,900 mark at that stage. Doesn't bode well for Spence, but you never know. As long as you can keep him from retiring, you have a good chance![]()
Well, he's got almost 100 this seasonAnd I'm only in February, so maybe another 150 goal season is a possibility. His stats except for the physical attributes are all staying more or less constant, so he's still scoring quite a few.
Edit: 115 goals now and up to the middle of March. So he's up with the average to beat Smylie for this season at least.

He's 35, and barely slowing down at all. Even if he did drop below 150 goals for the first time in a while this season, but he was very close to reaching that milestone again. 143 goals in his 66 appearances this year meant he was well above the goals per season target I set him in order to beat Smylie, assuming he had 4 seasons left in him. He also cut the distance to 3000 goals in half this year, something that makes his becoming the 2nd member of the 3000 goals club much more likely, provided he doesn't shock me with an early retirement, which, as he's playing in more or less every game, shouldn't be too likely, touch wood.
For Northern Ireland, he passed the record caps mark, making him truly the greatest player to don the green shirt. With another 3 goals, he is steadily accumulating on the world stage too.

Maybe only one good season away from 3000 goals, and if he plays until age 38, he will need to average just over 90 goals per season to beat Smylie, which is doable, depending on how he declines.

He's over the 500 mark, and well before his peak, so 1000 should be an easy target, in theory.
Still smashing in the goals and could reach the 3,000 in the next season!
Fantastic work kroblues![]()
