I'm in 2032 I've managed:
2010-2013 - Guiselely BSN to L1
2013-2015 - Barnsley L1 to Champ
2016-2018 - Debrecen 3xtitle and CL Group Stage
2018-2019 - Zenit (left within 1 season)
2019-2020 - Reading 7th PL
2020-2025 - At Madrid 3xtitle, 2xCL
2025-2025 - Staines BSS (thought it would be interesting but it wasn't)
2025-2027 - Vasco 2xtitle
2027-2028 - Fenerbahce title
2028-2030 - Bayern Munich 2xtitle
2030 - Everton 2xtitle (got a Tycoon owner).
All very enjoyable getting here however I think I might retire my manager and start off unemployed if I can win the CL for Everton this season.
I'm in 2022 now.
Started at Droylsden, took me 2 seasons to get them to the BSP and another 2 to get them to L2. From there moved to Hartlepool, got them into L1, Cardiff got them into the Championship, Hull got them into the Premier League. After finishing 15th and 12th in the EPL my new chairman (who took over in the first season in the Premiership) still only gave me 2m transfer budget (with almost 20m in the bank). I guess he had superlow ambition, frustrating as the old chairmen seemed to be very ambitious (always giving in to my requests for whatever and a relatively high wage/transfer budget). Not being interested in another season of midtable football I decided to not renew my contract.
Got the Flamengo job. When I got there they had 8 points after 8 games in the Brasileiro. Made a 26W-3D-1L run and still couldn't catch Sao Paulo (the single loss was away to them and the eventual title decider, earlier in the season I had destroyed them at home 4-1 though). Did however win the Copa Sudamericana, this propelled me and in 2022 I won the state championship, Copa Libertadores and Recopa so after winning barely anything throughout my career I suddenly won all meaningful South American (club) cup competitions (giving me world class status, 1 year earlier at Hull I still had "national" reputation). After the 2022 world cup Spain sacked their manager and Benitez (Real Madrid) took over, I applied and got the job
Internationally I managed Canada (not accomplishing much), Sweden (got out of group stage of Euro 2020), Holland U21 (losing Euro U21 championship final to France) and got the Argentina job after they failed to get out of the group during the 2022 WC (same as Spain).
So from Hull/Netherlands U21 in 2021 to Real Madrid/Argentina in 2022, exactly 1 year later. Things can change pretty quickly
Well. We've scored 11 goals in 11 games. And my strikers have precisely 2 overall.
I just managed to win the BSS at the first attempt in my first go at managing a lower divisions team. It was a bit of a fluke to be honest as my defence was atrocious.
Now my staff don't want to renew their contracts for some reason.
Edit: I've now either missed something glaringly obvious, broken my players or the game has bugged as my entire first team squad are stuck on ~60% condition after one friendly. I've reached the last pre-season friendly and I've simply run out of players. I can't decide whether to go on Holiday and see if my AssMan can sort it out, or resign and hope something interesting comes along. (Which would be a shame as I'm quite attached to Dover now).

Just managed to get AEK into the group stages of the Champs League for the first time under my management! \0/
Scraped past Lokomotiv Moscow and Fenerbahce in the qualifiers (on away goals both times), and my reward? Barcelona, AC Milan and APOEL Nicosia. Ouch. Still, star man (and solitary Greek in the starting XI) Pappas scored a club and league record 5 goals in the first match of the league campaign as we destroyed local rivals PAOK 5-0 at home. Goal for this season is to rinse the CL for all the cash we can get, and try to topple the seemingly unbeatable Panathanaikos domestically.
My first Real Madrid season so far has been nothing short of ridicilous and so unrealistic it will probably be my last FM11 season as it feels like playing some '94 manager game now, ie. pretty much broken. Tactics shouldn't be this powerful, ever. FM12 should put more focus on player ability and a lot less on tactics.
I am first in the league with a 26-2-0 record and a 21 point lead after beating second place Atletico 0-7 away from home. My star (and lone) striker, a German regen, has over 50 goals already in the league Never ever seen anywhere near this level of dominance nor such a ridicilous scoring record by a single player, "wtf" really? We've already scored over 100 goals and only conceded 14 so far. Maybe Man Utd in the QF of the CL will provide some challenge as they are leading the Premiership by 16 points with 8 games to go (25-3-2 record for them). Also into the final of the Spanish cup after beating Barcelona by a 6-1 aggregate in the semi's.

Just had a stonking game at Loftus Road:
Three-nil down after twenty minutes ... suffered from being too deep and too negative, and also perhaps through not motivating my players enough pre-match. QPR were dancing rings round us.
The game changed on a couple of things. Firstly, Goodey snatched a goal back out of literally nothing - charged out of midfield, won a tackle he had no right to, and smashed it into the net for his first Colchester goal in two and a half seasons . Suddenly we were going into HT only two behind, and when I looked at my team's motivation, they weren't down, they were mostly 'Fired Up' or 'Motivated'. Inspirational stuff, Goodey.
So I gave them a further boost at half-time by telling them I had faith...
...which Guthers loved, and the 20 year old Colchester youth product went on to score twice, including a 90th minute equaliser. Helped by Keithy boy, who I subbed on 'in the hole' for his first senior action in two months (suspension/injury). He promptly set up both of Guthers' goals and also won the penalty, MOTM despite only playing the second half.
I thought the Loohuis rocket that put QPR back in front was going to be a heart-breaker, but we came back again.
Dizzy heights of the November mid-table in our first season up in the Championship.
2010/11 - Hartlepool United, League One - 15th
2011/12 - Hartlepool United, League One - 11th
2012/13 - Hartlepool United, League One - 7th
2013/14 - Hartlepool United, League One - 3rd
2014/15 - (Gentleman of leisure!)
2015/16 - Colchester United, League Two - 3rd
2016/17 - Colchester United, League One - 9th
2017/18 - Colchester United, League One - 1st
2018/19 - Colchester United, Championship -
Pleased to note that we are currently ten places above Hartlepool, even though the media predicted that they'd stay up and we wouldn't. Still, a long way to go yet.

21 games out of 30 done in the league, and we are twelve points clear of the dreaded Panathanaikos with a superior goal difference...surely we can't throw this away? Pappas has now scored over 40 in all comps (and continues to be inexplicably frozen out by the Greek national team), but there are rumblings of discontent amongst the squad with a number angling for moves to bigger clubs.
As expected, we failed to qualify from the group stage of the CL, but we were far from embarrassed. Drawing 1-1 at home to AC Milan was a particular highlight (although the beat us 2-0 comfirtably in the return fixture), and we only lost 2-0 and 3-2 to giants Barcelona. Minnows APOEL lived up to their billing, as we trounced them 6-1 away and 5-1 at home. They finished bottom of the group, pointless, having conceded 30 goals and scoring just 2 in six matches. Our reward for third place is a horror tie against Inter Milan in the Europa, followed by either Celtic or Man City if we somehow get through that.
Actually got beaten by Man Utd Failed to capitalise on our chances in the first leg and Man Utd got their crucial away goal on one of their only shots. Game ended up 1-1. During the away game we were without Neuhold (injury) and couldn't score so out in the quarter finals, conceded a late goal while we were desperately trying to score but with 0-0 we'd have been out as well so... tied up the league with 6 games to go and also won the cup. So 6 meaningless games left and already bought a fantastic new DM for next season.
All we lack now is a great AM (Pastore is 33, turning 34 in June), which (therefore) will be obviously my target during the summer. Lyon have a ridicilously good regen (22 from Iran) which I will try to poach to succeed Pastore if my budget will allow it. I have decided to keep going this FM11 game until I win the CL and CWC. Man Utd's squad is flat out ridicilous though, and their stars all fairly young so it won't be too easy just yet. Barcelona have also been buying some really good young players to replace their over the top old ones so I foresee a 3 team challenge for the next few years, but it looks like they'll be missing out on CL football next season (5th right now, 6 points behind Sevilla in 3rd (Spain only has 3 spots left atm) with 6 games left) which would be huge for us.
I just picked up the league and cup double with Lazio in my first full season, after coming 3rd the season before.
Unfortunately we got knocked in the first knockout stage of the Champions League after being drawn against Man Utd, and now Italy have lost their 4th qualifying spot. I'm intending to stay at least one more season to see how we do in Europe, then I'll look at moving on to one last job before FM 2012 comes out, preferably in Germany.
My Senegal team also lost the African Nations final to Ghana, so I quit straight after. Hoping to get a European international job once the sackings start after the Euro 2020 qualifiers are done.
Wow, the Eurpoe dream is over. Smashed 12-2 on aggregate by Inter, including a frankly embarassing 7-2 spanking at home. Very poor.
Alright lads, i'm guessing this is the new equivalent of the old "all nighter" thread? (I might be going back a fair bit there haha).
I'm just about to start the 2014-15 season on FM10, and my 3rd full season in charge of Spurs. I only made the one major signing over the summer, right back César Azpilicueta because it was the only position I felt we needed strengthening. Despite selling the ageing/not very good Defoe (He was third choice striker anyway) I feel we've still got plenty of striking options. After completing the "poor man's double" (League Cup and Europa League winners) and coming surprisingly close to winning the league last time out, i'm expecting us to kick on and push for more silverware this season, hopefully another good Champions League run also.

Welp. I abandoned my career after winning the ACoN and just did a one-off season in the 2.Bundesliga with 1860 Munich. Finished 2nd and got promotion.
Just got promoted into the Championship with Histon in 2018, this has to be my best ever save, somehow made it into the play-offs and beat Hartlepool in the Final but I'm expecting to be relegated straight away
Four and a half years after Hartlepool sacked me for sending my CV to other clubs, Frances Farmer has had her revenge on Seattle. Not that I bear grudges or anything! Eddie Howe ('Pool boss) despises me too, even though he benefitted from the foundations I'd built. Enjoy L1, Ed, and take your 28 goals with you
Good season for us though, first one up in the Championship and just four points shy of the playoffs (predicted 22nd).
Just some info about my demo career. Started with Wycombe. Had 4 consecutive 0-0 draws, a 0-1 loss to Brentford in the League Cup and then played Scunthorpe.
Now, I was half-hoping for a 5th straight 0-0 against the recently-relegated Scunthorpe. However, we collapsed in the last 10 mins of the first half, going in 0-3 down at the half. I told them passionately that we weren't playing well, work harder and this was the result at full-time..
Never seen this before
I was a runner up in the FA Cup and Champions League (Again) with Tottenham in 2016, losing to United and Liverpool respectively. Bassong was sold for a reasonably large fee over the summer and not replaced, partly because I felt the back four we had was good enough and also because there were a couple of youngsters in the reserves who looked like they may well turn out to be world class players.
Vucinic (Leading scorer three seasons running) picked up a serious injury only a few games into the new season and the promising 22 year old striker I had as backup misfired at every given opportunity, which meant that while we weren't conceding too many goals, we weren't scoring enough to compensate (Cue lots of 0-0s, 0-1s and 1-2s). We got dumped out of the League Cup by Liverpool. At home. In the 3rd round and it was all downhill from there. The only positive being our decent Champions League form. By the end of November (After an appalling 1-0 defeat away at newly-promoted Ipswich and a drab 0-0 home draw with Fulham) we were 12th in the table and the board and the fans weren't happy, so I left not knowing what sort of condition we'd be in come January and that by that point the damage will already have been done.
Nothing was available for a few months and then Trevor Francis was sacked as Birmingham manager, with the former Premier League club languishing in 17th in the Championship. I applied and was almost immediately accepted, i've got a lot of work on to try and make something of the squad i've inherited. Not a bad team as such, but a lot of old players and a fair bit of deadwood that needs clearing. I've got a couple of weeks left of the January window to try and bring in some defensive players but I think i'll leave the bulk of the shifting-out and bringing-in until the summer. The target for this season is just to try and finish as high as we can (Playoffs look very, very doubtful), and hopefully promotion next season.
Just LOL. Amazing.
Well i got the Moyola Park board to finally build a youth acadamy after saving up for 18 years. I decided on getting it before upgrading any of the facilitie due to the fact that i'm doing a youth only game, the youth acadamy will be only the second in N.I after queens uni who had a youth acadamy right from the start.
Also on the international scene England are now below Scotland in the world rankings and N.I have dropped out of the top 100!
So I've been taking a break from my Crazy Canuck save (probably a permanent one till FM12 comes out) and having a little fun in MLS with Toronto FC. I'm playing with all leagues loaded so I've gotten quite a group of players to choose from. I've made a lot of changes to the default squad and I'm starting in January 2011.
- Jan. 29: FC Dallas trade ST Peri Marosevic to Toronto FC for DC Emmanuel Gomez, DR Dan Gargan, 2011 3rd Round Pick
- Feb. 2: New York Red Bulls trade DL/DC Tim Ream to Toronto FC for MR/MC Spencer Thompson, AMC J.C Banks, ML/AML Junior Burgos, 2011 2nd Round Pick
- June 30: Sporting KC trade ST Teal Bunbury to Toronto FC for DC Ty Harden
- Sept. 15: FC Dallas trade DL Nana Appiah (newgen, 2011 5th overall pick) to Toronto FC for allocation money ($60k)
My free agent signings:
- Feb. 13: DC/DR/MC Adrian Serioux (CAN) - 32 - unattached
- May 5: AML/ML Colin Clark (USA) - 27 - unattached
- June 30: ST/MC Davy Arnaud (USA) - 31 - unattached
- July 1: DR Julian Perujo (URU) - 26 - Nacional
- July 3: DC/MC Ethan Gage (CAN) - 20 - unattached
- July 4: ST Danny Koevermans (NED) - 33 - unattached - Designated Player
- Scott Rojo
- Steven Beattie
- Steven Murphy (2011 3rd round pick)
- Matt Gold (claimed on waivers by FC Dallas)
- Nicolas Lindsay (sold to HJK for $50k)
- Jacob Peterson
- Julio Cesar Rodriguez (2011 4th round pick)
I experimented with several formations over the course of the season before settling on an offensive 4-3-3 formation. It doesn't exactly emulate Aron Winter's tactics at the real life TFC team as I do use 3 forwards in the centre and 3 midfielders while the full backs on both flanks push up to attack. We seemed to be able to hold our own in the league so I think I'll be sticking with it.
Here's what our usual starting XI would be:
GK - Stefan Frei
DR - Julian Perujo/James Luna (newgen 2011 1st round draft pick)
DC - Adrian Cann
DC - Tim Ream/Nana Attakora
DL - Nana Appiah
MC - Julian De Guzman
MC - Nick LaBrocca
MC - Davy Arnaud
ST - Danny Koevermans
ST - Peri Marosevic/Teal Bunbury
ST - Dwayne DeRosario/Israel Guzman (newgen 2011 2nd round draft pick)
Other key bench players include Nathan Sturgis and Colin Clark. Despite at times we were totally out of sync and played terrible at times, we shocking managed to win the Eastern Conference and of course clinch a playoff spot, the first time TFC will be in the playoffs in team history . We made it all the way to the MLS Cup Final at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, Texas but we lost to the Seattle Sounders. I had very balanced attack in the regular season and playoffs with contributions from DeRo (8 goals), Koevermans (7 goals), Marosevic (6 goals), Bunbury (5 goals), and Guzman (4 goals). Davy Arnaud, who can also play up front, also scored 3 goals.
Next season I really have to improve at left back and my team is getting a bit old. I'm not sure if DeRo can hold up next season. I also wouldn't mind some extra International Slots and keeping some players if they can gain Canadian citizenship.
Into my third season with Real now and none of my left midfielders have developed so I might have to buy someone there if I want to win the CL, still don't feel I have the squad to defeat Bayern and Man Utd over 2 games. And Barcelona and Fulham are quite equal matches as well. Beat Fulham in the group stage 3-2 at home though. So far 8-0-0 in the league (Barcelona 7-1-0) and 3-0-0 in the CL. But lots of small wins while Barcelona is smashing everybody 4-0 (except for that single draw) so I expect to trip up soon.
Btw in my first season Neuhold ended up with 73 goals (36 apps) in the Liga BBVA. Since then I have been rotating him a lot more so that won't be broken. But still, this guy is a total freak, just like Eugenio from Barcelona. I should post screenshots of them some time.
I think part of the reason for this is the fact that the Spanish league is down to 4 stars in my game which means anybody but Barcelona and Real can't keep up with the other big league's talentwise. So there is a steep dropoff in quality from our squads to the rest and it shows in the results.

Joined Boston in November, played 5 games, scored 19 goals and conceeded 9............ well can't claim it's boring
Still playing FM11 with my all youth team in N.I. and after roughly 15 seasons playing from the very bottom Lisburn have always been the richest in the league but that all changed when a TYCOON decided to buy Portadown.
That's right a tycoon has decided that he wants to help out N.I. football, that or he lost a bet with his mates.
Started a career in the Belgian Jupiler League, simply cos the format looks crazy.
Went with OH Leuven, predicted bottom, operating on a fifth of the budget of everyone else. After some simply amazing results (3-0 away to Anderlecht being a highlight) we secured 10th place and a shot at the qualification groups for the Europa League.
Got to the semis and knocked out by Standard Liege
So I left, couldn't take them any further than that. St Mirren offered me a job, and I'm in Paisley now. 1k p/w over my budget, so flogged a few players. Played the champions Rangers at home in my first game... beat them 3-2!
Aiming for avoid relegation, but I'm hopeful for a good mid-table place. Top half of the split would be amazing.
Cripes, now I see why Nordvest is in the relegation zone.
Been thumped 4-0 and 4-1 in my first two matches.
Took over Boston after 12 games and they were 16th and with some luck won the league
I have a save with Malaga next game Real Madrid, So far on a 6 game win streak in 2nd on the same points as R. Madrid. Lets see how it goes.
Got some players back from suspension (they'd had THREE players red carded in the match prior to my arrival) and injury. Was able to switch to the 4-2-4 formation (2 strikers, 2 wingers) I had identified as an appropriate tactic, and beat a midtable side 3-1 and the bottom (winless) side 1-2. We're still in the relegation zone, but only on goal difference (there are 4 teams on 16 points including us; we have to leapfrog 2 teams to avoid the drop).
And now our new found momentum is halted by the 140-day winter break.
On the bright side, this lets us recover from some new injuries: The starting GK tweaked a groin in the 3-1 win (so I had to use a 19-year-old amateur player in the other win) and is out 6 to 7 weeks; one of our starting center backs suffered fractured ribs on a corner in the 1-2 win, and is out 2 months.

started a journeyman thought I'd put it in here until I definitely know i'll stick with it. First job offer I took and it was with Chavdar Etropole really looking forward to managing in Bulgaria
The story so far:
Season 1: Started unemployed with a Sunday League reputation with all leagues loaded in England, Spain, Italy and Germany. I rejected all foreign jobs as I wanted to start in England and Boston United were the first to offer me a job. They were 16th in the Blue Square North despite being predicted top 2 so my aim would be to try and reach the play-offs. By the end of the season however we were top (just) as only 3 points separated the top 7. New signing Jamil Adams hit 30 goals in 30 games to finish the leagues top scorer.
Season 2: After only just getting promoted I was hoping for a top half finish but didn't expect much more. With Jamil Adams being the stand out player last season I was looking to find some more goalscoring support for him (and failed). We were doing as expected most of the season but had a decent run towards the end and somehow finished 2nd, although it was closer between 2nd-7th again. Stockport finished top my miles. Met Newport in the play-off s and won 4-3 on agg. then faced Luton in the final and met a 1-0 defeat to stay in the division. Adams hits 41 goals in 46 games to be top scorer again - club legend in the making.
Season 3 (Ongoing): This time I want promotion, preferably from top spot as I HATE play-off s. Ended up changing a lot of first team players but we were still being spearheaded by Jamil Adams (who leaves after this season as I can't afford the wage rise he wants).
Jamil Adams, 76 games 71 goals

I think this would be a fine place to put my updates, even though they are in a bit different format to most others
I present to you 'Let's Play FM12', where I will tell my tale of trying to take Southampton (mostly randomly chosen fwiw) to glory:
Obviously any comments welcomed
I was with you until the choice of team
Loving the voiceover though
Did you know that almost everyone on these forums seems to be a Pompey fan?
There is quite a lot of us
Wish I'd considered that before starting the game tbf, could have had massive following already by doing Pompey
Either way, hoping some more people give it a chance
Oh for the love of... ANOTHER Pompey fan? Must be the most supported team on the forums, just no two ways about it!
Getting curbstomped in Belarus.
Didn't really have a good pre-season, as we had 6 friendlies crammed into about 2 weeks, so everyone was only getting 45 minutes in an attempt to keep them somewhat fresh. The last 3 were against top division sides.
We lost all of them, and carried that form into the season. Our 4 games we've played, we've lost 5-1, 4-0, 3-1 and 5-1.
Norway is not going to plan....6 straight defeats - 4 of them under me (my first 4 games in charge), thought I'd made some progress in the last game, was 2-0 up after 20 minutes but managed to go on to lose 7-3.
I have the worst defence and goalkeepers I've ever seen!!
Think I might have to try and sign an entire new back 5. Either that or the sack is coming very soon!!
Just finished season 3 with Boston, we came 2nd after Wrexham ran away with the league title so I had to enter the play-off's again - beat Grimsby 3-0 although it had to go to extra time in the 2nd leg before anyone scored a goal. Facing off with Barnet in the finals where I lost 3-4 aet.
Managed to sign Jamil Adams on a long term deal so regardless of whether I stay or go he will remain at the club for another two seasons - although if I leave I will regret that as it stops me taking him with me as easily. He managed 48 goals in 50 games for us.
Now my question for whoever is reading this is simple - do I stay another season at Boston and hope for promotion? or leave before taking them to the football league?
Added - My reputation is regional.

Well I was hoping for at least one reply
I decided to stay at Boston, one last try
Code:Season Team League Position Achievements -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Club: 2011/12 Boston United English Blue Square North 1st Division Champions 2012/13 Boston United English Blue Square Premier 2nd Lost in Play-Off Finals 2013/14 Boston United English Blue Square Premier 2nd Lost in Play-Off Finals 2014/15 Boston United English Blue Square Premier
Came top of the league with Boston, and won the FA Trophy so an EXCELLENT last season at the club. I decided before the season started that this would be my last one at the club as four years was more than enough I felt. Although I didn't get manager of the year
So I resigned, went on holiday to apply for all jobs and within two days I had two offers: Shrewsbury of League 2 who finished 6th but they felt similar to Boston, and Burney who came 20th in the Premiership!!! - talk about a HUGE step up the ladder but who am I to say no. My personal wage went from £800 to nearly £11,000
That's a HUGE jump-up! Good luck with Burnley!
Thanks, I was slightly shocked, was expected L1 at most. Not had to sell anyone yet but have 3 unhappy players who want to play at a bigger club - luckily no ones put serious bids in for them.
1st season at Wolves, finished 7th when Blackburn lost 5-0 to already-relegated Stoke on the final day and handed me a Euro League spot as I drew at Arsenal 1-1. Disappointing draw, that! Aaron Ramsey hit a screamer from 35-40 yards out that came off the post, hit keeper Henessey squarely in the back and flew into the net. Regardless, I made it to Europe.
Summer signings so far: Ryan Shawcross from Stoke for 12 million over 48 months, a young defensive midfielder at 4 star potential from City's youth squad and a 16-year old striker with 4-star potential from Scottish First Division side Livingston for 170k. I've got a 50k a week plus bonuses contract tabled to Jose Bosingwa as well, as he's available on a free.
-Landon Donovan to Spurs for 5.5 million pounds
-Adebayor declaring undying loyalty to City, hehe
-Away to Everton in the 3rd round of League Cup in the middle of a bad run. Fudge.
-Not winning either Black Country Derby. Son of a...
-3-0 over Liverpool, 3-0 over Man City, 5-0 away to Newcastle. Up the Wolves.
-3-2 over Arsenal to reach FA Cup quarterfinal promptly followed by a 0-3 shellacking at Chelsea's hands to eliminate me.
-Liverpool finish 9th and sack Dalglish
-Stoke relegated 13 points shy of safety with QPR, and Newcastle survived by a one goal difference at Bolton's expense
-Ukraine win EURO 2012 2-1 over Denmark, who knocked out England in the semis 1-0
-Del Bosque resigns as head coach after Spain go out in the quarterfinals, Pep Guardiola takes over and Barcelona job goes to Carlo Ancelotti.
-Edison Cavani to Spurs for 28 million
-Freaking Spurs in general. 2nd place and suddenly they're kings of the transfer?
-Gus Poyet linked to LA Galaxy
-Ibrox gets 2015 Champions League final, Millennium Stadium get Europa.

A win's a win... but I'm sure we should be doing a bit better against seven men!
Right, so I took over at Burnley and went straight to work spending most of my budget on a DC called Jack Hobbs (who went to score 14 league goals in a season). I was able to keep ahold of all of my players which was tough as they'd just been relegated from the Prem the season before and many were being sought after. We went top 2 within a couple of games and never left that position and when West Ham stumbled towards the latter end of the season we took full advantage and finished top with a mighty 103 points. Mid-way we signed Ross Turnbull as we were leaking goals and he helped give us the best defence in the league and one which should do fine the in Prem - we do however lack depth and an all out goalscorer - although AMR Matt Phillips did hit 15 league goals and get an England call up for Euro'16
So there I was looking to strengthen the squad so we don't go back down after one season and taking in the Euro'16 action and Wenger retires at Arsenal - so I apply and get the job! So after 1-year I'm leaving Burnley and that means within 18-months I've gone from Boston in the BSP to Arsenal in the Prem!!
Former club Boston United were relegated position 23 and never really made it out of the bottom 5 :-(Code:Season Team League Position Achievements -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Club: 2011/12 Boston United English Blue Square North 1st Division Champions 2012/13 Boston United English Blue Square Premier 2nd Lost in Play-Off Finals 2013/14 Boston United English Blue Square Premier 2nd Lost in Play-Off Finals 2014/15 Boston United English Blue Square Premier 1st FA Tropy Winners 2015/16 Burnley English Championship 1st Division Champions 2016/17 Arsenal English Premier League

Sitting in third with Arsenal at X-mas and still in all 4 competitions and we've had 3 matches with 8+ goals or more scored, including an 8-1 win over Tottenham (who I support). I just KO'd Spurs from the FA cup 3rd round (2-0) and they've sacked their manager as they are only 9th in the league - now do I stay or do I try and go?????
22 league games in, 73 goals scored and am only 4th............. DOH!
Arsenal: QUickly identified they still have a goalkeeping problem (hadn't bought a new keeper in the previous 5 seasons) so brought in ter Stegen for £25M and with V.Persie reaching his 30s needed a new striker so got Abel Hernandez for £24.5M. The rest of the squad seemed good enough and there are a few decent kids coming through the ranks so was happy enough to only buy two players. I offloaded a few players to pull back £10M in transfers.
The season went well although we never looked like winning the league, we were always behind Man Utd but several points and despite scoring the most goals (111) and having the best goal difference (+72) we finished in 3rd - so at least an improvement from 5th the season before I took charge. We won the League cup so at least some silver in the first season and lost in the FA Cup final 2-3 to man Utd and lost to Athletic Madrid in the Euro Cup Q-finals. The season basically went downhill when the African Nations started and I lost 6 first team players to the competition.
Next season hopefully we'll be able to compete for top spot
England: Went well - won every match in the World cup qualification and won all friendlies so couldn't ask for more. The squad is good although England are lacking a proper striker as Rooney is getting old and Wickman is not good enough but will have to do.

previous club watch:
Boston United: Finished 6th in the BSP so missed out on playoffs by 1 points. They have retained barely anyone I signed for them.
Burney: Fought brave but finished 18th in the Prem after selling their best player.
Well this season is sucking right now. Spent £60M on three new players to brinf our quality up to that of the other title contenders so I was hoping that we would at least challenge for things........
5th in the league and 16 points away from top
KO'd from Champ League in 1st Kockouts to Italian Champs Napoli
KO'd from League cup straight away at home to Man Utd
Still in the FA Cup but then again so are most top sides so not being hopeful.
Arsenal: Well sine my above post I scrapped my current tactics and went back to ol' faithful (4-4-2) which seemed to do the trick as we stopped throwing away the away games which had been our problem all season. This meant at the end of the season we had a good little run of wins which allowed us to get 3rd again and again reach the Champions League and with my new tactics I hope next season I can at least challenge for one of the big titles. As you can read above the cups didn't go well, except the FA Cup, where Tottenham KO'd Man Utd who I have issues again and I beat Spurs in the final so at least I won a cup again.
I have a young team still so a couple new midfielders and hopefully we'll be there.
England: We qualified for the World Cup with ease with one defeat (to Croatia) and more recently I have lost a couple of friendlies which has caused problems (inc. 4-0 to N.Ireland!) so am going to change tactics here as well. Something which has failed to help me has been my assistant manager picking the world cup squad for me - not sure how I missed that news post.

Boston United: Again finished 6th so stuck in BSP again but won the FA Trophy
Burnley: Finished 4th in the Championship and won the play-offs so I get to face them next season.
Well the World Cup sucked, qualified from the group with ease and faced Morocco in the first Knockouts where despite having 25 shots only managed a 1-1 draw where we then lost on penalties
Did have the chance to take over most nations as nearly every manager was either sacked or resigned but have decided to see how Euro'18 goes so will probably leave after that tournament but we'll just have to see.
Might just make my own thread at this rate although it will lack screenshots (am lazy) - I appear to have taken over this one slightly
3-0 up to losing 4-3. Arse.
2015/16, Munchen 1860
after one season in Boavista (sacked at the end of the season, 3rd place), the Olympic games with Ivory Coast (bronze medal), and 3 years in Ontinyiet (1st season, 9th place in Segunda Division B3, the 2nd promoted and the 3rd a fantastic 8th place in Liga Adelante), i decided to go in Munich and take control of Die Lowen. After 12 games, i'm 5th (the final target is a middle-table position), 12 points on the relegation battle, and 7 far the 3rd place.
Well. 2 mins in, against the league leaders, and we're down to 10. F***
Quite glad I found this thread! That best not be your Catennacio game D!
New light hearted game started as Bristol City, currently knocking around the play-off spots in the first season 15 games in. Massively over-achieving at the minute but I expect it to get tougher. Pretty standard tactics and no signings.
I've had a good run in the League Cup knocked out a few prem teams like Villa and West Brom. Got knocked out in the Quarters to Sunderland on penalties. Really hate the lack of finances from that, did have a few sell-outs though.
update from Munich after 19 games
5th place, 6 points far the 3rd place (Ingolstadt with 36), and 13 points more the relegation battle (Eintracht with 17.)
Here the results in november-december:
Gladbach - Munchen 1860 2-2
Munchen 1860 - Bielefeld 3-1
Aachen - Munchen 1860 6-2
Munchen 1860 - Hertha 3-3
There really are times when you want to throw your laptop..
Started a game with Olimpic Xativa in the Spanish 2nd Division B3, predicted to finish 19th. After the first 10 or so games we are 6th and pushing up the table. Also managed to reach the 4th Round of the Spanish Cup where the Liga BBVA teams enter, and we drew the big one - Barcelona! We had the 1st leg at home and expected to get hammered and, well....this is what happened!!!
Negotiations in Football Manager continue to amaze me.
The initial offer got cancelled in the end cause we didn't have the money. So I tried again, but with transfer date next summer. Slightly different offer. They re-negotiate to a better deal. We do this a couple of times. My offer is 300k up front, 500k over 48 months and 500k after promotion. They negotiate again. I give them exactly the same, but without the half a million for promotion. They accept.
Wow! Guinea must be the luckiest side in Africa! Zero shots at goal, but still win the final!
times about a thousand, a bit of a fail there from Ivory Coast
Erm, what happened there?
What a Bass ole!
Do you know what bugs the most about FM12, is when a team laughs you off, they keep doing it. 4 times I've been laughed off from the same club and I only applied once
Whats that I hear? Man up?
Trying to get back into this in the wake of failing quite badly in my 3 FM threads (rapid sacking by Kansas City, a psyche-scarring run in Belarus, and then a crash dump with an edited file after the patch), and having Skyrim turn into a total time suck on my days off.
Anyway, I'm at Akademik Sofia in Bulgaria now. Reached the winter break in 8th, just 3 points clear of the drop (9th and 10th go down). We were predicted to finish 4th, so I've had news reports of my imminent demise. Players "have a hard time motivating themselves to play for a manager of" my reputation, again.
Been mostly using a 4-4-2 or a 4-4-1-1 (which sometimes we look really flash in the 4-4-1-1. But it's a case of lovely buildup, can't get the shot on target). Also been experimenting a little with a 3-1-4-2 after reading a blog discussing the return of 3-man backlines in Italy, but the players still haven't totally come to grips with it yet.
If I reach the end of the season, and decide to carry on, then I'll start a thread.
Season's worth of underachievement caught up to me. Sacked the day after finishing 7th (in a 10-team league), despite winning the last match, going 6-1-3 in our last 10 matches and 7-2-4 after the winter break.
A 3-3-8 mark in the first half of the season put us in a hole that we never really looked like getting out of.
Oh well, the club is bleeding cash anyway, so good luck with that, board.
Finally got promotion to the SPL with Queen's Park after trying with previous versions of FM for years!
Do want to start a thread, but i keep starting games and then get bored of them too soon, so i might just stick to this thread.
So far i started unemployed and was given the FC Seoul job. Finished 2nd in the table and have the play-offs to play, hopefully i can win the league.
In other news i've just signed Juan Pablo Angel for free. Hopefully he'll be good backup for the new season.
Two annoying things about the K-league. 1 - stupid K-League All Stars game, in which one of my players got injured for 5-6 weeks, pointless game, wish i could withdraw them. 2 - the national service, i know it's what happens and all, but it's annoying when your keeper gets called up.
Ugh. Lost 0-1 to a team I'm chasing, leaving me 4 points adrift of safety with 11 to play.
Seven games to go in the league and it's a bit tight at the top
Christ, 4 points from 27 so far in the second half. Now 10 points adrift with 6 to play, and of those we have 4 games against teams in the top-6.
I failed in the title final nevermind, better luck next season. Should have Champions League football this season too.
It's not FM but it happens in FM to me all the time: On FIFA I'm chasing the playoff places with Wimbledon and both times I've played Plymouth they've been rock bottom of the league and beaten me both times without me getting a goal. As I said, happens on FM all the time, you lose to the team that is rock bottom with no chance of doing anything.
*Warning cheap plug* If you want to watch my career with Wimbledon you can check out my channel on YouTube: www.youtube.com/MTBSwifty don't forget to subscribe!
Hows this for a debut goal?
Or this one? First game back after injury, 3 mins after he was introduced as a sub!
In two seasons, Arsenal have spent a grand total of £167m on players.
In comparison, I have spent £68.5m, and Man City have spent £73.1m. They have not had any takeovers, and I have never seen them
spend this much in any save I have played on.
Just lost Champions League qualification over direct matches. So frustrating.
I'm in 2022 with FC Khimki in Russia now, with a goal to win domestic league and cup in every ex-USSR country. Started as unknown Kyrgyzstani manager and my achievements so far are:
2011 - Nashe Pivo Kant - Kyrgyzstani First League - runners up
2012 - Nashe Pivo Kant - Kyrgyzstani First League - winners, promotion to High League, resigned at end of the season
2013 - Abdysh-Ata Kant - Kyrgyzstani High League - runners up, Kyrgyzstan Cup winners
2014 - Abdysh-Ata Kant - Kyrgyzstani High League - 4th place
2015 - Abdysh-Ata Kant - Kyrgyzstani High League - winners
2016 - Abdysh-Ata Kant - Kyrgyzstani High League - resigned during the season, AFC Challenge Cup winners
2016 - Shakhter Karagandy - Kazakh Super League - 5th place, Kazakh Cup winners, taken over during the season
2017 - Shakhter Karagandy - Kazakh Super League - winners, Kazakh Cup winners
2018 - Shakhter Karagandy - Kazakh Super League - resigned during the season
2018/19 - FC Zestaponi - Georgian Umaglesi Liga - winners
2019/20 - FC Zestaponi - Geogrian Umaglesi Liga - winners, Georgian Cup winners, Champions League group stage, resigned at end of the season
2020/21 - Spartak Moscow - Russian Premier Division - 4th place, sacked at end of the season
2021/22 - FC Khimki - Russian Premier Division - 3rd place, Europa League quarter final
Seriously. My f***-about career would be excellent reading if I could be bothered to write about it.
I never got round to starting a career thread, but here's a quick synposis:
Start unemployed, sunday league reputation.
June 2011: joined Norwegian 2nd division side Jevnaker IF partly through the season, and finished comfortably mid-table
2012: won Norwegian 2nd division
2013: played half of season in the Adeccoligaen but then resigned halfway through to take job at FC Nordjaesland, now in the Danish 1st division
2013/14: won the Danish 1st division and just about kept the club afloat
2014/15: finished 3rd and won the Danish Cup, bringing European football to Farum Park.
2015/16: beat Braga in the Europa League in the 3Q round but then knocked out by Man City in 4Q. Currently 4 points clear at the top of the Danish Superliga, winning our last 6 games including a 6-1 away win at AC Horsens.
I also managed Jamaica to the 2014 Carribean Championship but then lost the Gold Cup final to the USA - resigned after this. Have been linked to jobs in the Championship but no offers just yet.
Having made a fist of my previous career and quickly losing interest, I'm starting again with the fully patched version.
Changing things up a little, giving myself "automatic" reputation and starting with a semi-pro club in the hopes that the players will actually listen to me.
Step forward Incheon Korail. Choo choo!
Epic semi final. My side were up 2-1 going into the second leg. When we were tied 3-3 on aggregate, Real Salt Lake ahead on away goals, I thought it was over. Fast forward to the 85 minute and hope returns. My Spanish striker decided that this was his time. This was his moment. This was going to be the first time all game he didn't shoot from 40 yards out or shoot into row Z. This time he slides the ball past the keeper: 4-3 on aggregate. 2 minutes later Real Salt Lake losses the plot. Their defenders allow my other striker to slip past them and put us ahead 5-3. They then complain to the linesman so much that their goal scorer gets sent off and another player gets carded. Just before the game ends they get another player sent off just to add insult to injury. I don't mind. I'm happy we'll have the chance at winning the Open Cup for the first time under my reign(we've lost in early rounds and in the quarters before).
Korean FA Cup 2nd round, we're drawn away to a non-league side. We go up 1-0 early in the second half, and we're generally bossing the match, just can't find the back of the net. Then my right back, who I already have a substitute up for, gives away a penalty in the 70th minute. Going to extra time.
We lose our left back to injury early in extra time, but manage to snatch a goal to go up 2-1. Then my right wing goes down with an injury. Since I've already burned all my substitutions in normal time, we're down to 9 men.
We try to kill the match off, but our opponents get a corner in stoppage time. Again, we're down to 9 men, so they end up getting a free header to level the match and send it to penalties.
My goalkeeper stops their second penalty in the shootout, and it looks like we might still go through to the 3rd round (the minimum expectation from the board). But sure enough one of my players has his saved, and then our last penalty taker balloons his over the bar. And my opponents don't miss any of their remaining penalties, so we crash out on penalties, a round short of expectations.
And you know the board is not going to factor in us going down to 9 men.
Good thing we've started brightly in the league, I guess.
Gone top of the N-League at the halfway point.
Very close though. Our 2-0 win against Mokpo means the top of the table is:
1. Incheon Korail 29 (+12 GD)
2. Kookmin Bank 29 (+10 GD)
3. Ansan Hallelujah 28
Then it's Yongin City in 4th with 22 points, followed by our "Transport Derby" () rivals Busan TC with 19, and Changju Hummel rounding out the playoff spots on 18 points. Just off the playoff places are Changwon and Cheonan City on 17 points, and Suwon City (who have sacked their manager) with 16.
Not much entertainment out of the top 2 though (early on other N-League managers were criticizing me for our style of play. I'm running with FM's version of the 4-5-1: 3 in central midfield (one of them in a DMC position) and 2 wingers. Of the 3 in central midfield, I'm using a defensive-minded anchor man, a defensive-minded ball-winning midfielder, and a deep-lying playmaker in a support role). We have the stingiest defense in the N-League with just 6 conceded. Kookmin Bank are next with 7 goals assist. Ansan do it the other way, by scoring goals for fun. They have 27; the next most prolific side (Busan TC) has 19

Have a very interesting save goin now , started off Limerick FC (Im irish and its the nearest i can find to me) in Irish 1st div promoted last day of the season and winning the senior challenge cup getting me into europa league qualifiers , and cause of the screwy dates with the league had to wait til midway through the next season.Make it through 2(maybe 3) rounds of qualifiers to go out on away goals to slavia prague, this being with a team at BSP standard at best and having got lucky enough to have got a newgen target man good enough to make the first team. The most annoying part being my stadium only seating 250 from 2500, although i made crazy money for that level while i was there(about 250k). Left close to start of what would be my second season in the top flight basically cause the board wouldnt upgrade the stadium and a fair few teams going full pro while i was semi pro, decided to jump before i was pushed and landed a job with telstar in the dutch Jupiler League
Im now getting very annoyed with that board , got promotion to eredivisie through the screwy dutch playoff system with a pathetic stadium of 3250 capacity which has been selling out constantly since january and they refuse to upgrade its capacity "not a big enough fanbase" or some crap, heres the kicker i had the second worst defense in the entire division and still managed to finish second with a hell of a goal difference , mainly due to a very technically gifted 20 year old serbian called el Maestro , now with 18 corners frees and technique
.At mo im in eredivisie sitting in in 5th having giving thumpings to FC Twente (defending league champions) Ajax and their 52000 or so capacity stadium on their own ground both 3-0 and a very credible 2-2 draw against feyenoord(who were struggling i'll admit) and they can seat upwards of 40k.Main reasons for success are my set piece Maestro (pun intended) a powerhouse of a centre back, a 19 year old holding mid and a brilliant belgian target man currently on 11 in 14 league games so far this season.
I really hope they'll agree before the end of the season or i get a takeover or i'll jump ship i've already got offers from coventry and reading
