Has anyone else reached the year 2018 and found that the average age of a player is 30?

Not to mention there is hardly any good regens

Not really, no. Lots of brilliant regens in saves I've had, and squads that more or less seem the same as now.

Teams like Chelsea and Man Utd don't exactly have young first teams now, do they?

    That's true.

Think I'll try and play as Arsenal for a bit...

It kinda bugs me trying to let go of my \/illa save because the days and nights over the holiday I've spent on it... That save could literally be seen as my holiday

This team are ****ing hopeless right now. 3-0 home loss to Almeria sends us to 21st.

    I need tactical inspiration. Help?

What problems are you having exactly? Scoring? Leaking goals? Getting dominated by the other team in terms of possession?

Would you consider it cheating to edit a players PA to what your opinion of it is?

It's just players like Fran Merida... I couldn't help but notice how his PA doesn't reflect what I think he could potentially do

I would say it's cheating. I think that potentially Hines and Collison are a lot better than they are rated in the game, but I haven't changed anything. I'll just let West Ham's magnificent youth academy develop people better than them.

Anyways, Merida, what exactly has he shown (besides coming out of Barca's academy) that would make you think that he deserves a PA increase?

I'm not sure. I reckon though that this kid has ability and with the right mentality he can become big.

But anyway I didn't go ahead with it. At the minute I'm continuosly making new games until I get players with good PA's....

Mario Balotelli never seems to get a good PA though

God these forums die in the early hours lately...

    Heh, it's 11:13 PM here.

Messi has really become absolutely useless for me. You never see any of his great ability when I play him.

Almost into February and we're 18th.

Gone back to 4-3-3 but my team are still playing like a bunch of amateurs.

Think I'll leave if I don't manage to finish in the top half.

    Sociedad 3-3 Pontevedra

Threw away a 2 goal lead.

Lauren at RB is looking awful but we're outside of the window now so I'll have to maybe move Botia over.

We seem to have turned a corner. *touch wood*

1-0 win over 2nd placed Almeria. We're still only 16th but we haven't lost in 4.

Typically we have Osasuna away next, then Girona away, and then 1st placed Cordoba.

We won 1-0 at Osasuna. Bloody lucky, but finally some resilience in our defending. Julio Cruz with a rocket to win it.

From 1 great defensive display to 4 goals conceded in 30 mins against derby. Lost 4-1 (they could have had 7 they missed a pen)

Hersh, perhaps adopt a Barca-esque 4-5-1/4-3-3 with closing down all over the park?

It got Albacete out of a slump!

Obviously not meaning to post for the sake of posting though.

edit: We beat Cartagena, Xerez lost. We look like we're going up! Incredible.

Albacete did me a massive favour. They (5th) beat Xerez (4th), meaning that I am 4 points clear of 4th with 2 games to go.

Is there a way to chart your league position? I think we've gone from about 20th in January.

I prefer to play down my chances with the board, keeps the pressure off if things don't go too well. I usually go for the lowest one they offer me unless I'm super confident.

Unless you really need the money for a specific player then I think that is the way forward, especially if your contract is up at the end of the year.

Indeed. But with a team like plymouth its hard to find freebies without having a permit denying you or the poor resources.

Mind you I signed Richard Hughes from portsmouth for free and he has been quality

This team will get stuffed in La Liga without changes, but then we'll suffer from the lack of understanding again.. Need to beef up our backroom staff too - physio are awful.

£2.5mil for avoiding relegation with an elderly team of mid-table second division players. Wish me luck.

I hope Dafuge won't tell me off for posting this in here, but my excuse is that I'm thinking of posting this in here at some point.

    The situation

I'm currently the manager of Getafe in November 2012. I spent two years (or so) at Argentina before moving to Getafe in about November of last year. I saved them for relegation, and have promised a top half finish this season, which I could achieve.

However, Rafa Benitez has just been sacked, with Liverpool sitting in 18th. I'm actually a Liverpool fan, and so have had a couple of starts with them. So really what I'm asking is:

Do I stay at Getafe, and try and make them into a real strong team, or do I jump ship and go and try and save Liverpool?

I should add, that the finances at Liverpool are still bad, but things aren't brilliant at Getafe either with a low club value.

I'd stay at Getafe and wait and see how well Liverpool's next manager does. In the long term, it'd maybe take you a season or two to make them back into a top four side, but then what?

    'tis a fair point that.

There's also the chance of stealing some of their players at the end of the season if they do get relegated

Paulo Henrique and Dickson Etuhu in the same team.

    Henrique's cost £4.5mil despite our £2.5mil budget..

This is exactly the sort of thing this thread was designed for

If you are going to post regular updates on your own game then you might as well start your own thread, this thread is for all the 'one-off' posts that might interest other people.

You could do a review for the first couple of season retrospectively, then carry on. Alternatively, we could move across all your relevant posts from this thread to the new one.

Heh, I was thinking of starting a thread, just loaded up a save with Fiji, New Zealand, Australia, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan loaded. I've never had a game with more than 2 leagues running, usually with 44000 players, but I've compensated and only loaded 26000, should it be OK?

I'll come back to you on the title.

I'll have a bowl of seafood Pontevedra, Galicious. ? Nope that sucks

I've been through the desert in a country called Spain?

From a poor 2-0 home defeat against relegation threatend Leicester, to a 1-0 win away to play-off chasing Sheff Utd.
At least the unpredictability is quite clear in the championship.

Granate translated is Garnet, how boring.

A local legend relates the foundation of Pontevedra to Teucer, hero of the Trojan War, a legend which was reinforced with the suspicions that Greek traders might have arrived to the Rias Baixas area in ancient times.[7] However, historians and archaeologists tend to agree that the initial settlement was probably formed during the integration of Gallaecia (old Galicia) into the Roman Empire (circa 1st century BC). The name of the city is eminently Latin, derived from Pons/Pontis (bridge) and Veteris/Vetera (old), hence Ponte(m)Vetera(m), "the old bridge", in reference to the old Roman bridge across Lérez River (still standing). Well communicated even since Roman times, Pontevedra consolidated itself as an intermediate town during the Suebic dynasty (circa 5th-6th century AD).
That's interesting. How about "Pontevedra, Trojan hero, or Spanish [insert word]?"

Does it matter, it sounds cool. You could put a little explanation in the thread. If a title is slightly confusing, it makes people want to read it.

Started unnemployed on my save. Had to replace Turkmenistani league with the Tajik league. Lets see where this takes me.

Just thought I'd point out re-my Liverpool team that:

We're in the Europa League, and currently top of our group after four games, having not conceded.

    sounds alright, but

the media had us predicted to finish 4th at the start of the season, and I've taken over with them in 18th

    I couldn't resist.

I've got most of the core team from the start of the game:

Reina, Carragher, Skrtel, Johnson, Mascherano, Lucas, Gerrard, Kuyt, Maxi, Benayoun, Riera, Torres.

But also a couple of other good players, who I can't remember all of their names.

    It's getting bloody old though.

Chris Clarke, MRLC, not know for his scoring ability has nailed his 7th of the season.

When I say he is not known for his scoring ability I mean he has scored 2 goals in 3 seasons.

Currently 15th and 4 points clear of relegation with 7 games to go.
    Im looking safe-ish

Just signed Liverpool reject Mark González for £1.2m.

I hope that Juan Pablo Pino accepts the new contract and rejects the £3m bid from Palermo.

Here's my new Barcelona asymmetric tactic that I developed after the other teams were adjusting to my 4-5-1 tactic.

You can almost definitely tell that I'm trying to get the best out of Messi. Everyone around him is on 'support' except for Xavi, who I'm thinking about dropping him back to the support duty. He's playing as a Trequartista with 'run with ball' on often and 'through balls' on mixed.

We just got spanked 3-1 by Cordoba. 3-0 down in 20 mins and had a player sent off whilst chasing the game.

Lmao, playing Athletico Madrid in the Spanish Cup Semi finals at the Camp Nou, it's 4-1 in my favor right as the first half ends. What a game it's been so far! 2 goals from Ibra, one from Xavi, and one from Busquets!

It's been a really fun save! I'd recommend a Barca save to everyone.

1-1 tie with Malaga at home. We just weren't able to find that second goal.

I hated Barca, it was too easy

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

But man I'm loving the new match ball I picked up on a skin I found... I moved it to the neue2 skin and it looks freaking awesome on the 2D Classic ME, makes every moment of the in game worth watching

Check the ball out, Looks funky right?
