Thread: The Football Manager Podcast season 3

  1. #1

Default The Football Manager Podcast season 3

The first episode of the new season of the Football Manager podcast has just gone live on iTunes. You can find it in the sports section and it's completely free.

It features Andrew Dickens (Shortlist), Ashleigh Rose (Kick) and, err, me, talking about football, management, Football Manager 2010, a competition to win a copy of FM10 (or FMH10), "feature roulette" and, as always, some banter.

The podcast this season will be every 2 weeks.

If you can't see it listed, subscribe to it, then go to your "podcast" section of your itunes library (on the left hand menu), right click on "the football manager" podcast, and click on "update podcast".

It's a bit of a drunken ramble, but is good fun, so if you get a bit of time, please download it!

Doesn't sound too bad so far so no worries

    Really enjoyed the podcast tonight.
Feature wise the change to searching sound interesting, looking forward to seeing them on screen. The improvements to goal less games is a nice little feature.
The banter was great... "hello the internet," getting the mention of Barcelona in with an accent, "that's not a podcast word" for a couple of swear words, how do you solve a problem like Adebayor, "this is such great radio," "that sounds like pingu" and "the managers most likely to" were all great. Had me smiling and giggling along at parts.
Miles: you need a new laptop for the podcast!
It's always good to learn new things. I didn't know you couldn't release the game in Germany.
Have to agree with your guests comments concerning the upcoming Premier League squad rules.. very much "irrelevant."

    I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I'll have a lot less software open on the laptop for "Feature Roulette" next time, so it'll be a lot quicker...

Ashleigh and Andrew are both great. Hopefully they'll be on again soon.

It would take all of 10 minutes to get a podcast onto youtube.

Add the podcast to a blank image in windows movie maker.
    Format it.
    Upload to youtube.

    Simple as that.

Out here in Cambodia our internet connections are too slow and unreliable for podcats, youtube etc. I'd really appreciate if someone summarised the new points about features for FM10 and posted them here or in any thread.

I didn't mean it couldn't be done, more that its not the best option. Youtube is primarily designed for video based content.
A dedicated audio podcast/blog site would be more appropriate.

Yeah, same - but about 5 minutes in it says he supports Watford. Unless that wasn't him, but I'm pretty sure it was.

I think I thought QPR because iirc they were located at Loftus Road when they made some videos before.

Regarding having users choosing features to reveal, you don't have to give away the number range if you just took feature # x, where x = [user_number] mod [number_of_features].

United didn't lose, they drew 2-2...?

Personally, I'd rather they worked on making the game a priority over making the podcast, axiz & Brookie, but that's just me :/

But they have already made the podcast. I'm sure Miles has said it has been recorded and was due to be put on iTunes on Friday night but theres still no sign of it. So it's not a case of concentrating on making the game, more making what has already been recorded available, otherwise why bother recording it.

Watching the game it felt like we lost, if it wasn't for another late goal it would have been just that.

They already recorded the podcast on thursday and haven't put it up yet. It was due friday evening but still not online, maybe they are all to busy finishing the game to take a few minutes to upload the podcast.

Yeah if it's to be released on the 30th it should be going gold very soon, a few years ago it took them about 4 weeks from going gold to release, last year it took a bit less, but still like Miles said it's pretty much crunch time, it should be going gold around the end of the week i assume.

But i also think they've given the blog to a 3rd party and they are the ones yet to upload it.

And also - you should get Mascio to do press stuff for FM10

i had to skip to the end of the podcast because listening to random premier league stuff for almost an hour and a half its not quite my thing lol the features announced weren't that exciting either but with blogs coming out every day of the week with new information and features and with the demo almost out .. its understandable.

It was a bit long tbh. I can't really be bothered to listen to something for that long and if I accidentally press next song I have to wait for such a long time to get back to where I was. Not particularly appealing. But I listened to about 20 minutes and it was decent though the sound quality wasn't the best.

I listened to it until the end of the competition, then my laptop crashed. (Btw, if I got the right answer I think you should give the prize to me ;)) Am just waiting atm for it to get back to where it was...

Found it a great listen tbh.

    - Goals net will bulge when the ball hits the net, although this is not definite on PC and it will not be avalible on MAC.

What's the reason behind why it's not definite?

It wasn't until a couple of weeks ago that these nets first went in, so if they can't get them working properly then they will wait to put them in.

You know when you right click on something, such as players? It brings up a list of actions you can do with that player, such as moving him to the reserve squad?

These have all been changed around, to make it easier to find everything and to make sure nothing gets lost.

Enjoyed podcast #2. Personally I liked the idea of having aliens come into the game, would liven long term games up. Think you (SI) have taken the right decision regarding Chelsea and I look forward to playing as them just for a challenge.

I think it means that sometimes when you select multiple players and 1 or 2 of them can't be offered out to clubs... that option is completely hidden? But now instead of it being completely hidden it will appear but will be greyed out if you can't select it?

First time i've listened to the podcast. I listened to the end so it was okay i suppose. Not enough focus on the game for me!

BTW how much does Miles carry the guests? The one guy seemed incapable of giving an opinion or even holding a brief conversation about football. Not sure if he was shy or just a numpty

Peachy Bum, you have a very, ahem, interesting username.

Fwiw, he's recording a podcast with hundreds of people about to listen to him - do you blame him for being a little shy?

I thought the guests did quite well, for podcast almost virgins

Wonder why they are so late arriving on iTunes, I'm subscribed to them but they appear days after they do on the above direct link. The third one still hasn't appeared and the 2nd one was almost two weeks late

The 3rd one only got uploaded and set to live about 2 hours ago (it's downloaded here for me)
The 2nd one was late but by about 4-5 days not weeks. This was due to it not being delivered to us in time.

    Ok Mark no probs

Just wondered if it was an iTunes problem, my third one hasn't arrived on it yet, but my second one was a fortnight late for me. Looks like it might be worth me emailing iTunes , might be my account

    Cheers

Does anybody know of other Football Manager podcasts that are more game pacific? Would love to subscribe to a podcast that discussed tactics and training etc. I have just found the FM View podcast, any others out there in the scene?

The new edition of the podcast is available now at http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/M...1&id=266108646

Featuring Tom Dart (The Times), Toby Moses (The Observer) & Mark Lomas (ESPN Soccernet), we look at all the big football topics of the moment, as well as a competition to win Football Manager 2010, and "ask Miles", where this week some of our Twitter community ask some questions.
