OFL (Oceania Football League) - A Sign-Up

ofc.jpg

Only one of the 31 Oceanic nations or dependancies, Vanuatu, lists Association Football as its national sport. For this reason, the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) and the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) have decided that an Oceanic football league would be a good way of promoting the sport in the world's smallest continent. As well as the 12 FIFA-registered Oceania nations (shown in the list below), Oceanic countries Australia, Indonesia, Guam and Northern Mariana, all of whom are registered with the Asian Football Confederation, will each field a team in the league. This gives a total of 16 sides, and FIFA's idea is to create a league of 12 teams, where at the end of each season, 2 teams are relegated and replaced by 2 of the 4 teams who didn't begin with a place in the league. The nations entering a team into the league are as follows:

OFL
American Samoa - TAKEN
Australia - TAKEN
Fiji - TAKEN
Indonesia - TAKEN
New Calidonia - TAKEN
New Zealand - TAKEN
Northern Mariana - TAKEN
Soloman Islands - TAKEN
Tahiti - TAKEN
Tonga - TAKEN
Vanuatu - TAKEN
Wallis & Fortuna - TAKEN

OD1
Cook Islands - TAKEN
Guam - TAKEN
Papua New Guinea - TAKEN
Samoa - TAKEN

FIFA and the OFC are now looking for sixteen wealthy people to each fund a team in the league. They do not have to be of the same nationality as their nation, or even Oceanic at all, but must be prepared to come up with sufficient funds to start up and keep running their football club. To ensure each team begins with as fair as possible a chance of success, there are certain stipulations that the new chairmen must follow.

 • The stadium of each club will be a 30000-all-seater, designed by the same architect, and therefore identical. Only the furnishings, colours and name may be chosen by the chairmen. They must also decide the city or town of their nation in which the stadium is housed.
 • FIFA would like the clubs to have a big role in developing youngsters and preparing them for international football. They believe that the Oceanic nations will benefit from having more talented players coming through, and may perhaps begin to assert themselves as more challenging opposition to the more established footballing nations. To this end, the chairmen must agree to build top quality youth and training facilites, as well as an academy to help develop the youngsters' football skills.
 • £25million must be invested into the club's bank balance from the chairmens' personal fortunes. This is regardless of the costs of facilites and infrastructure, so it is recommended by FIFA that only the super-wealthy and football-supporting businesspeople take part in this ambitious project.
 • Any settlement in the country chosen by each of the wealthy people may become the home of the new football club. The chairmen must also select a name for their club, and it is requested by FIFA that the names are realistic and sensible.
 • FIFA has instructed the chairmen to select a manager of their choice from anywhere in the world to take control of their club. This does of course require that the manager chooses to leave their current job if they have one in order to join the Oceania Football League.

The sixteen prospective chairmen are asked to fill out this form below if they wish to take part in the project.

I have edited everything into the database so far. The 12 of you who have submitted teams will be taking part in the OFL for the first season. The final four who sign up will have to hope their team is promoted first, although they still have the possibility of taking part in cup competitions.

SEASON 2008/09

logo-ofc-100.gif

OCEANIA FOOTBALL LEAGUE

OFL2009.jpg

It was Fiji's Suva Levu who took the honours in the maiden season of the OFL, mounting a late charge to finish ahead of American Samoa's Pago Warriors, who had led most of the season, and Mana FC of New Zealand, one of the favourites to win the title. It was a very close call, with the top three all finishing on the same points tally, and only goal difference separating them. At the other end of the table, a long struggle of a season ended up successfully for Asuncion FC of the Northern Mariana Islands, who managed to mount a late surge and stay up after a poor season. Not so lucky were Ikale Tahi and Club Batam of Tonga and Indonesia respectively, who got relegated. The teams replacing them in the top flight next season will be Papua New Guinea's Team Kokoda and Hagåtña F.C., of Guam.

Relegated! :(

Just wondering, what league did you replace in the game?

I replaced the Indian league, since it was just about the right size, wouldn't be missed, and would run nice and quickly.

Get in there, a fine season saw the mighty Suva Levu take the title. OK i admit it was by one goal, but what a season.

No star players, but 2 young up and coming superstars in the forms of Tevita Kumar and William Duguca.

We've also nailed the free signing of Wang Dalei!

Love the updates Dave, keep it going mate.

Here's to the mighty Levu retaining the title!!!

Gutted to miss out on the title by a single goal, probably would've won it if I'd remembered to name a manager but nevermind.

New Zealand qualify with ease as they should anyway and I have the best player in the league, looking forward to next season.

Mid table, but a runner up in one of the cups makes a pleasing season. No players on either of those lists which is a shame but an early signing will hopefully improve us for next season! KUTGW mate!

SEASON 2009/10

logo-ofc-100.gif

OCEANIA FOOTBALL LEAGUE

OFL2010.jpg

After coming so close the season before, Pago Warriors won the title this season, after a tight fought scrap with most of the teams in the division involved. Suva Levu, Senang Boot, Brennan FC and Mata-Utu all finished on 35 points, not far behind the eventual winners. The relegated sides were the two which had won promotion just the season before, Hagåtña FC and Team Kokoda.
