To be fair, it is unlikely there is n chance of recovery. You could take out your harddrive, put it in another computer and get the save from there. Might need to get a PC expert to do it though.

I have a mac. [Am using my GFs laptop to post right now] - and the issue could be an error with the mother board, or a problem with the hard drive. if the hard drive is faulty, then I wont get the game back, if its not, then I'll be ok, even if I have to get a new computer. I have back ups [four of them] - but they're all on the computer, and I never got around to putting them on my external. I save at the end of ecery season to a different section on my laptop, so if there are any fatal game errors, I can just go back a season and carry on. It'll teach me not to be bothered to move them over to the external, despite the fact it sits no more than 3 feet away from me

Well there it is. No need to panic. After spending the last 6 hours trawling through forums trying to find out what could be wrong with the Mac I'm now typing from, I finally found the solution. 1 site suggested the ram was not correctly placed, and maybe got knocked out in moving the laptop. I opened the casing, resat the ram, and restarted the computer. Nothing.

1 site suggested, that I could need a master reset, and to hold the power button down, along with some other buttons. That didn't work.

In the end, a friend contacted me just as I was typing the message above, to tell me that I need to let the computer know, that I've re-sat the Ram, by holding the power button down until the LED light flashes 1 per second. I did that, re-sat the Ram again, and hey presto, we're back on board. I'm so happy. I'm going to bed now though.

That's good to hear.

That does prove my teachers point of having backup's in different places. Get a pen drive (or 2) to hold the save, updating it every so often as well, and the external hard drive as well, then next time there is less panic.

All other clubs in the division, have been there for 15 or more seasons. I don't expect the chances of an new club getting promoted are very high, and like the look of Ards Rangers.

I would change the name of the club to something exclusive too, perhaps you guys can give me some ideas? - and try my best to get them into the same light as Knockbreda.

I also ask....

Should I keep the 2 clubs separate completely, or allow myself to loan players to Ards from my Reserve team?

An interesting idea would be to make a duplicate of this save, and in the duplicate, use an edt file to swap Knockbreda into one of the English leagues, and see how Smylie does in those leagues. Would be very interesting indeed.

.edt files have no effect after the game has started.

It should automatically eject when you end the live session (i.e., reboot or shutdown).

If not, I find mashing the eject button on the computer while it's booting does the trick. The one downside of slot loaders...

Nep - Isn't there a button on the underside of the laptop that ejects the disk? I had the same problem a few years ago when my laptop died and i needed the disk from the drive.

I actually had a dream about supporting Knockbreda the other night.

I was in a crowd and we (Knockbreda) were playing away from home. Everyone was chanting something and I remember being aware that Knockbreda were playing well and probably winning. There were a lot of banners in the away end but this one guy was holding up a banner with 'Knockabreda' written on it. I was absolutely outraged with his misspelling the name of the club.

Can't remember if Smylie was playing or not!

that sounds like a wierd dream. I actually couldn't sleep for a while last night due to becoming champions of Northern Ireland. Some achievment, I guess, but it was the first time I had taken a team from Bottom to top.

I've just thought of another achievment when (or if) you get your game back- win more premier league titles than Linfield. They've got something ridiculous, into the 50's. Would be some achievment to top them as the most succesful northern Irish club ever based on number of titles. Obviously, you have more quality with two champions leagues, but quantity....their history page is the most loaded of any club I have seen (including Celtic and Rangers and Ferencvaros)

I just hope you have anything personal password-protected. It has come out that computer repair shops have been opening private folders and taking information and pictures which they shouldn't, but I'm sure there's nothing to worry about as most computer repair shops across the UK are likely to be under review after the incident.

I just don't know how you do it Nep! I've been running a FM08 game as Lisburn Rangers for ages now, and I'm up to about 2027 now and I still can't see how you have achieved so much! It seems like every 2 years every key player (except the home-grown ones) get stroppy and so I have to rejig my squad again. I'm in the top 50 club ratings now and reaching knockout stages of CL and EC but no reputation boost and I still can't get anyone to sign outside of eastern europe mainly.

You have a super stadium too, yet I'm only at around 18000 and it only gets increased by about 3000 every two years following planning permission hiccups.

So just how did you manage to get so far? Can you impart some wisdom to me to get me up to that next level?

P.S My homegrown 21 year old striker just scored 88 last season in all comps, bringing him close to 300 already, NI definitely is the league to be in, though my guy is no Smylie!

I still don't have my Mac back. It initially went in diagnosed with an issue, which they fixed. However, this didn't fix my computer, so now, they need to test all different parts. The only problem is, Apple only send 1 part at a time out to be tested, so until they find the correct part that is broken, I wont get it back. It could be Monday, it could be Friday, it could be weeks away. I really don't know
