Hey everyone, I'm looking to start a career thread with Keflavík (local team, stadium 2 minute walk from my house) in the Icelandic Premier Division but god knows I'm not the biggest writer out there so is there anyone here that can help me with picking a good, solid format for writing updates. How often will you be updating? You do not have to have great writing skills to post in here so don't worry lol. You can simply post pictures of your results and position in the league and tell us what has been going on, who has been scoring if you were unlucky etc.

For writing and stylistic tips, you can have a gander at some of the more popular threads in here. Are you doing match-by-match, monthly or seasonal updates? It's quite easy once you get into it, but it's nice to have a format you can use for each update as that makes things easier. Personally I use seasonal updates and just quote my last update and then years, screenshots and text around the new season. It works quite well. Then you have the more match by match updates with a short comment on each match and perhaps a table screenshot at the end.

All up to you how you want to do it, and you can experiment along the way to you find something that suits you. Good luck.

Anyway I know full well that unfamiliar codes can seem tricky to do. The best thing to do for anything you're not sure about is to copy a template from another post (which you can see by 'quoting', which shows you the coding for images, layouts , links... anything you'd want to use rather than the aforementioned things they do), this is the layout anyway...

I feel like a bit of a dick by not following any threads lately other than occasionally updating my own, but after everyone at the office got a rather threatening email over use of the internet, I don't want to risk coming into the forums anymore during the day. And at night I've had very little time lately - barely enough to play FM.

However I impulse-bought FM2012 during that Steam promotion yesterday, and now I'm considering cutting my FM11 career short (well, it's 22 seasons long) to start one on FM12. I've already got a team, a thread title ready and everything.

Does FM 12 still have the annoying 'player sees rejected offer as a reason to demand a new contract thing' that I'm getting reacquanted with on FM11? I don't remember that being an issue. Very annoying with a side of promising young players. Was bad enough with getting a few bids a day for my MTK side in FM12 without facing that situation as well.

It's happened a few times to me on FM12 but not as frequent as on FM11. Usually just to the very promosing youngsters. I tend to put £30m asking price on any player I plan on keeping for a while, seems to stop the AI bidding on your players

IRL MTK is well-known for asking for large sums of money for its youngsters and telling them to sit on their asses if they want to move - that's a tradition to follow

Contracts (all figures annually, because that's how I play!)

- AA (Academy Apprentice) - there contracts are for playing who come through the youth system. Don't count against the cap.
- Entry-Level Senior - 1 or 2 year contract at minimum wage
- Senior - contracts from minimum wage (it increases every year) to the max senior contract of $325,000
- DP (Designated Player) - contracts over $325,000. Don't remember how much it counts against the cap though ($400k iirc?) because the value changes every year IRL...the amount you can offer depends on the salary budget you have

Allocations
- similar to transfer budget

Draft Picks
- Superdraft and Supplemental Draft. It's how you restock your rosters with the best talent from the US amateur leagues. The parity system is such that the worst teams get the highest picks in the draft. Pick and choose the best talent.

Trading/Part exchanges
- you can trade players, draft picks, allocation money, International slots, (don't think you can trade DP slots anymore). The system is a bit annoying though where you can't acquire multiple assets at once.

Houston are an okay club. They're a playoff team (although when over 50% of the teams in the league make the playoffs, it's hard not to be a playoff team)

The challenge with Houston is transition--the team is on the wrong side of their careers and while Ching and Davis are still quality, they are fading fast. It's not clear what sits behind them. So they're an interesting team to pick up. You have Cameron, some decent other pieces. But some attacking creativity in midfield is desperately needed, and it's not clear that Bruin (or any of the others brought in) are the answer up front.

I tried to offer a new contract to a player that is already professional, the only professional player in the team, and it only allows me to offer a part time contract...

You have no control over that, when you're at a high enough league level and with enough money in the bank (I think), the board will decide to turn the club professional but you have to wait for that rather than there being anything directly you can do yourself.

There might be, but you'd probably still need the above factors for it to be a successful request, and it still stands that the board have to think you're ready rather then there being a 'go professional' option when you want it.

The easiest way is to quote someone else's post and copy it, but you can use notepad to line everything up and post it using the code tags.

I met an Italian football fan at the football yesterday at St. Albans City v Weymouth. Almost an Italian version of myself, in fact! Whilst he was drooling over the prospect of watching English Non-League football at its very best at Clarence Park, I was talking to him and asking endless questions about Serie C, D and below (basically, the Italian equivalent of 'Non-League')!

He was an awesome guy. A Cremonese fan and said to me that he wants to bring me a scarf and shirt next time he comes to St. Albans so that I will support his team. I told him that he has to make St. Albans City his English team! I did want to tell him that I once took his beloved Cremonese to Serie A and that I won the Scudetto with them on CM03/04 with Milan Baros and Toledo up front, but I thought it best not to admit just how much of a nerd I am to a total stranger.
