Deisler: id say no stay and finish what you started with Leiria
New PC arrives tomorrow \o/
plenty more money but still no if you think you can take Leiria further
and \o/ to new PC![]()
Just thought I'd come in and give a quick overview of how my games going.
I started unemployed, with all the major European leagues loaded, the lowest reputation setting and applied for all vacant jobs in England.
I got an offer from Bromley, so joined the Blue Square South club fairly early and in time for the start of the season. First season I snuck into 5th place (the last play-off spot), winning my last 7 league games in a row after a terrible run looked to have put me out of contention. The last game of the season I had to hope I won and that two other teams dropped points and it all fell nicely my way. The play-off semi-final was against second placed Chelmsford, a 2-1 home win and nervy 1-1 away from home enough to get me into the final against Basingstoke, where an absolute cracker of an end-to-end game finished 4-3 to Bromley, with my team scoring a 121st minute winner. So Blue Square Prem it was for 2011/12.
I was unfancied in this division and my primary aim was to avoid relegation and establish Bromley at this level. I didn't score many goals all season (48 in 46 games) but also didn't concede many. I finished the season in 17th, relativley unspectacular, never in danger of relegation, 14 points off the drop zone at the end.
By the start of the next season (2012/13) I was already getting linked with other jobs and it was my intention that this be my last season at Bromley, I don't feel I could take them much further. By January I had them 11th in the table and with a very slight possibility of a play-off place, when the Chesterfield manager Mike Newell got sacked and I was the favourite for the job. I launched a press statement saying I would be extremally interested in the job and also applied. I was given the job so left Bromley half a season earlier than I invisaged, but I can see real potential at Chesterfield. When I took over they were 22nd, 1 point off the drop zone and in very real danger of going down to the Conference. I lost my first league game, but then went unbeaten in the next 9, winning 6 and drawing 3. A comfortable mid-table finish of 15th saw a decent start to my League 2 career.
Into 2013/14, and my aim if a moderate and easily achievable top half finish, I will infact be looking for promotion though. An excellent start to the season, culminating with this result, has seen me become the early pacesetters in the division, lets hope I can keep it up
Incidentally, down at Bromley my replacement Gary Megson appears to be doing a very similar job to the one I did, they finished last season in 11th and are currently 10th this year, so I've left a mini-legacy there aswell!
Really enjoying this game so far.
nice one but this would normally be post HERE not complaining just a heads up for the future, nice one on the legacy youve left dude

Thought I would do a bit of bragging and show Aguero scoring a wonderful chipped shot from outside the area.
possibly the best goal ive ever seen on fm...wow
Can we have a General Discussion thread about non FM things?
Yer similar, it's obv up to the mods though![]()
That's GD.... there is a reason why most of us don't go there :P
The IQ of the average poster in GD can be counted on one hand.
So, after a full day of forum maintenance, what exactly has changed? Other than a interface looks a little different and the quotes seem a little different??
I would like an off topic thread, it works well in good players forum since it was brought back.
@rancer at a guess it was probably with the database it self, or a new updated forum code
Its safer to change those things while no one can post or it can corrupt the database(I have done it before and broken it... Not good...)
If there's something that really needs asking then I don't mind this thread being used, but I'm generally not a fan of off topic threads within sub forums.
We do have off topic and football forums for stuff like that. They may not be everyone's cup of tea as forums but they are great if you have specific interests that have their own threads.
Ok, I just didn't want to go off topic then get the rage of you or another mod for going off topic. Thank you for clearing it up![]()
getting bored of fm at the mo with my soton save so any ideas on what i can do to keep me occupied?
One word: Minecraft
gonna say ive start playing a bit more xbox but mainly grafting and sleeping![]()
Try and play as a team and just use youth? Or if you really want to confuse people, start as Real Madrid (or an equally rich club) and don't sign anyone and sell every player who isn't a youth. Then start![]()
My xbox account got hacked and destroyed I have to start again now. Means I may have to play Oblivion, Red Dead Redemption and both Fallout games all over again.
whats your GT's guys
Taken over my first ever big club. Loved my time at Leiria, but the chance to manage Schweinstiger and Thomas Muller was too good to pass up.
Been reading this forum for the past few days and it's been quite enjoyable, particularly the journeyman careers. Trouble is by reading it, it's made me want to make one too, and now I'm into a dilemma. I already have a career running in the CSE forum for the Gundo Challenge. And a sign-up which isn't generating much interest. Getting spread thin at the moment with these 2 things, nevermind with an extra career! I'm thinking of killing off the sign-up, but still don't know whether to remain in the Gundo or start a journeyman save here. I'm 13 or 14 seasons into it, and closer than ever to finishing a challenge which is something I've never done. Starting to get past the Champions League groups regularly. On the other hand, the domestic championship is so easy, and the progress in Europe so slow that it's getting less fun than it was...
What would you guys do?
It's completely up to you. I find it easier to be with one club but then thats how I like to play. You may want to start at a low club and just get higher jobs when offered, it's your choice.
Well yes I do tend to find it hard to leave a club too because you have to start all over again, but sometimes there's a point where you want a new challenge.
Btw don't worry about the future of your french goalie, if I kill off the Tata sign-up at least I'll let it holiday till the end of their careers and reveal what happened to the players/clubs.![]()
Hopefully I win a World Cup, or several and become the best goalie in the world, MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA :P
Sometimes this game just makes me want to snap the disk...
Playing Sheffield utd away, who have just been on a 6 game losing streak, we go one up in the 80th minute, I go from our 4-4-1-1 to a 4-1-4-1 to kill the game off, go defensive, all the normal SUS shouts, etc, and Nick Montgomery with his long shots stat of a massive 4 sticks one in from 30 yards in the 89th minute.
Drives me mental, when the game decides it wants you to draw there is just nothing you can do about it. I am always conceding late goals or equalisers, no matter what I do to try and prevent it.
Good advice lads, but I've tried just leaving it and end up drawing, going more possession based and drawing, etc. The change of formation is a recent attempt at holding on, but the amount of times my teams let a 2 or 3 goal lead slip is a joke. AI teams play like derby one half, brazil the next.
Baaically if they get one then its a forgone conclusion they will draw it level.
I find "Defensive" to be actually very good at holding onto a lead with the system I play. Because I have a back four and two defensive midfielders, it generally results in us keeping possession in the back 6 for most of the rest of the match.
Regardless, I think the best advice is to look at where the opposition threat is coming from. If they're dominating you in midfield, bring in an extra player in the centre, if it's down the flanks, shield your fullbacks with wide midfielders, etc. If they're drawing you out of position, reduce closing down to keep your shape. Always look at occupying their dangerous player(s) with one of yours. And don't forget to retain a threat on the counter, or else they'll keep you pinned on the edge of your own area, which isn't a good place to be.
Beautiful finish!
Is it just me that seems to concede 90% of their goals from set pieces? Its so bloody annoying
Any tactical tips to amend this bstard of a problem I'm encountering?
Get taller defenders.
Ok assume in the Bulgarian 2nd tier, no-one can jump and the majority of defenders are under 6 foot. Then what?
Then find sub 6 foot defenders who can jump higher than the opposition.![]()
Do you play a deep 4-2-3-1 then? I use the version with 2 CM's.
Things have been a little better lately, if anything we arescoring the late goals! I've found that counter attack, plus hassling is keeping those annoying long shots down a bit better, but its mostly set pieces and longshots I seem to concede from.
anyone recomend a team in europe that i could do wa youth challenge with
How hard do you want it?
Possibly Russia? Or maybe Croatia?
Germany? France? Ukraine? China?
right decision time, im finally home, so after 16 hours awake and a 110 mile drive home + a shift at work, do i play fm or save it for tomorrow?
play it and cheers guys for responses
I can't believe how enjoyable this FM11 save is for me. Trying desperately to win Liga ZON Sagres with this squad I've bulit and had faith in throughout the years and various players (Kim Kallstrom, Anis Beh-Hatira, regen Jordan Stephenson) becoming massive favourites of mine. LOVE IT!
Just been promoted to the prem with leeds, can somebody suggest a nice solid formation? I've been using a 4-4-1-1 in this save but I feel a DM would be a good idea if I want to stay up.
I have one good winger, fullbacks are average.
id stick with the formation youve been using to be honest. I never change tactics regardless of any situation. your team should be used to the formation and the way you play so going up and making changes could back fire. However so could not changing it.
How does all the people in this forum make the manager history code? :s Do they use past games and use that for the code? :s
I write it in notepad first and then stick it in the code tags.
Do that once then copy and paste![]()
Thanks for the help guys.![]()
Also using "Preview Post" helps a lot.
Another question I have to ask, how do you get the club crests in the post? Where do you find the image? I've looked for crests but I can't find one with a transparent background.![]()
If you have Photoshop, you can delete the background.
Or even GIMP.![]()
i thought that said or even A gimpim thinking i dont have my own personal gimp lol
I use the metallic logo pack logos in my posts![]()
Is there an easy way of finding a certain teams logo from the metallic pack?

Put the Unique ID's on in the options menu, click on the team and that number is the number of the file![]()
Cheers Flamers![]()
And we're back!!!
Managed to finally win the Liga Sagres with Leiria. This formed part of the domestic treble and I also lost narrowly in the EURO Cup final
What year are you in Deisler?
Think we're the only two in here![]()
*points to location*
2019-2020. And yep, it seems that way!
How embarrassing...
Well congrats on your treble!
Thanks dude. Took a LONG time to get there. The most I've spent in 7 seasons on one player was £2.9m on a young Spanish midfielder.
Finishes have been 14th, 14th, 4th (record finish at the time), 5th, 2nd (record finish at the time), 4th and 1st (record finish)
Nice mate
Did the treble in Serie C2C in my 7th season as a career manager (7th club too) - the feeling of finally achieving something was great![]()
That'll do nicely! In my FM10 career, it took me 10 years to win one trophy. That was my third club too.
