Your loss - just you wait and see![]()
Just beat my bogey team (only the 2nd time in 17 attempts) on a goal that was miles offside.![]()
ARGH!
Had a crash dump a day after a 5-1 away win in which my top forward bagged 4 goals. No autosave of it, and naturally replaying it ended up 0-0.![]()
Crap. Once again my only goal-bagging striker got injured. This time with a broken hand for 6 weeks![]()
This forum lacks threads about peoples career's with bigger teams. I think it's because people think that they should only post if they're a small team trying to make it big.
That's because:
1. People post their adventure of the small club to big club challenges here
2. LLM'ers who want to show their progress here
3. LLM rejects who make Careers Forum their home
4. Career game threads, which never start at a big club, and work their way up to success
5. FMS people to want to show their progress with screenshots and the like
FMS, LLM, and the CSE forum use this forum the most, and very few play with a big club in these forums. I haven't started with a 'big' club since FM08.![]()
There's nothing to stop people posting about games with big teams, but you are right, we don't get too many.
One idea is because people who tend to play with big teams tend to play shorter term games. Threads that are not updated regularly will slide down the forum which is why a lot of the longer careers will stay towards the top of the forum.
Another reason is that the sorts of people who want to put effort into documenting their games are also the sorts of people who like to start at the bottom and work their way up.
Hardly very interesting to read about people buying the usual suspects and winning everything with United, Chelsea, Barca or Real Madrid either. Which is why some of us play LLM of course (the proper one and the "starting far down" type).
Wouldn't be very interesting to start a chess game when all you had to do was move the queen a few squares and then shake hands.
The puns need to stop lads, their just too bad![]()
Starting with a 'big' team generally gets boring after a few seasons.
However, it could be different if you play in a certain way - setting yourself rules.
Aye. Only play when drunk. Very drunk. Always fun!![]()
Always play as Lyon, never gets boring, although I sometimes set rules like only buying french players and selling every foreign player in the first two seasons ...
Downloaded tens of African nations from the Editors Forum and started a game in this unknown of a continent. Not chosen to use all the nations but have selected around 25 nations to run including England aswell. Really looking forward to playing this as like I said its pretty much an unknown in FM, will keep my more interested than my current save where i've gone from GVVV to Panathinaikos at an early stage.
Not sure whether to create a new thread for this save or not as I feel I've created a few too many since FM10 came out and not generating the interest from other forums member as much as I used to.
that's a potentially great career ToMexico, I'd be a keen reader if you started that one up![]()
I don't think I'll be able to start my own thread as even with very few leagues loaded the game runs pretty slow on my computer, so unless I have a thread which I can update every few matches or something I'll just use things like the anecdotes thread. I think I'm going to have one of those really chaotic seasons where you win a few, draw, lose a few, draw etc. with Cray.
Needed somewhere to post this:
FM09 my ninth season 2017/2018, finally in the prem following LLM rules for the first time through the following route:
Gateshead (July 2008 - October 2010) - Won BSN, came 3rd in BSP, got knocked out of playoffs in semis, hopped it to Bristol Rovers in League 1 when the offer came along
Bristol Rovers (October 2010 - October 2011) - I was a time stopper. Took them at 16th in the league, changed everything, finished 9th, got sacked exactly 1 season later at 16th.
Eastleigh (November 2011 - March 2014) - Back down to BS, but this time BSS! Came 9th, then came 1st and won FA trophy, was doing well in with eastleigh but had very little to came along. When Bradford came in league 1 relegation spot and decent funds I was there quicker than fat Ronaldo when he was just Ronaldo.
Bradford City (March 2014 - Present) - Here is where I found true love. 25000 people to come see me play, a chairman who I usually get on with and.....players that can be sold! I changed captain, dropped a load of old farts and brought them from 22nd to 17th. Next season I rebuilt, got some quality freebies and booted everyone else. Fiished 3rd after a late surge, scraped through the playoff final with an 89th minutes header from my star centre back. Next signed a few more, invested in a bit of youth and tried a new tactic. The result: 9th which was 13 places higher than our expected position. Next season was ****, got 3 good players poached and a load of others whined, finished 11th as expected. That brings us to the season I just spent 6 hours finishing......this season. Started off with 5 draws. Then won 7. Lost a few stupid ones, then was hugely inconsistent until the last 10 games, when I was hugely lucky. Except for the last 3, in which all the teams around me were ****, and I almost won the title from nowhere, but lost it against Preston. **** it, premiership here I come.
Not sure if anyone's gonna read this, but I hope to come back and elaborate on this some time, possibly even turn it into a thread. So 9 years of luck and brilliant scouts is what it takes to get to the premiership. I wonder how long it takes to win it? Well Newcastle, City and Loverpool all have managers over 60, so a retirement and a sneaky application from me could shorten that period considerably.![]()

I've updated the forum rules a little bit. If there's anything else that people think needs adding or changing, give us your ideas.
Good stuff.
KUTGW!![]()
Anyone got any smart snappy titles for my thread?
depends what are you doing in your game?
Traveling around but i'd like a play on words on a quote.
Wsa thinking of Einsteins E=MC 2
To Change it to E = FM 2
Something like that
And the teams played on? bit of an obscure twist on song title by a band called saxon
That doesnt sound half bad.
Popcorn time?
Of course a joke daf.
Wanted to get a reaction from you.Was just bored.
purefun indeed...
Ooh being smart eh.![]()
Purefun is getting bored because daf and Neji keep closing the threads here/changing thread titles in the Mod Requests thread, leaving Purefun with nothing to do.![]()
I'm always late.![]()
Question: Is it acceptable to have two career threads running in here? The rules are kind of fuzzy over this. I'm interpreting it as - if I keep both active then its ok.
As 10.2 is here I feel a big worldwide career approaching.
Merci merci![]()
Would I be able to have a thread I update every few matches? I don't have a particularly fast computer so...
I'll update it when I can be asked to, with a vague description of the matches. I started the game a few months ago and have been playing more the last few weeks, up to my FAC2Q game with Workington now, which due to me saying that think I can win the game I've been told that I'm delusional. Now that's hardly fair, we're in Ryman Prem and they're BSN. Bring it on!
I know you wernt having a go.![]()
Honestly however.
10-3, Terk or someone similar who knows what should or shouldnt be a story, do you think i should prehaps move to FMS next career?
Not having a go at anybody (didn't even know people were making "story-like" updates), but I figured the idea of this forum was to be different from FMS, which means updates and not stories. The mods will know where to draw the border.
Personally I find it much more interesting to read season-updates, as you get a feeling for the save, and you don't have trawl through lots of posts to get to the heart of the info. I'm a slow player too (4th season, think I'm up to 8 days or something) so going through the seasons takes time. But I quite like writing the updates every season. I don't know if others like them, but I've liked reading through my own down the line, to remember how playing that save was like.
I'm only going to write short updates, not going into too much detail, every few matches or so. At the end of each season I'll also do a quick summary for those who don't want to read the rest of the updates. That OK?
Then prehaps FMS shall have a new writer. Next Career though![]()
I quite like the different styles that people use as it gives a bit of variation to the format and forum. I wouldn't want to read threads that are indentical to each other. I personally prefer to do my updates at the end of the season and while I wouldn't want to do match by match updates, I think, as I said, it adds a bit of variation.
I'm pleased at how this forum has picked up since it was created and think it's been a great addition to the SI boards. I now find myslef here more than any other SI forum.
I know some of you who are reading my thread would have seen this but this match is worth having a look at:
FA Cup semi final
Probably the craziest match I've ever been involved in.
Tooting to get a fine now then.
Is this better?
I've recently got a new laptop with a different screen size and resolution, it is taking a bit of getting used to.
Thanks. That was much better. The normal screenies are so small and wide it's hard to see what's in them.
Quite a bit of action towards the end. Lucky for them to miss the pen too. Probably the only one missed in a game that year![]()
Saxonaitor, your style would be welcome in FMS (though as dafuge said, minus the pictures - we're mean and only allow links to pictures rather than posting them as images in the thread).
There are some in here who sit on the border between Career Updates and FMS, but unless something was overtly one or the other (or if the author particularly wanted it) then I wouldn't be quick to move threads between the two. As Raware said, the difference of styles in here is good for the forum.
LLM rejects I need help,
If i'm managing LLM rules how can I go about finding a loan player within the rules??
You can ask your assistant manager to recommend available loan players for a specific position, that could be the best way to do it.
How do you do that?
EDIT: Found it!
EDIT NO2: LOVE YA DAFUGE![]()

Need a little help here: I can't think of a title for my career game. I started unemployed with Sunday League Footballer experience so if anyone has any ideas, fire away!
I thought about 'From Loser to Legend' but it doesn't seem to be that catchy, plus I'm not a loser.
What leagues have you loaded? What are your aims?
- Leagues Loaded: Belgium, England, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Holland, Turkey and Argentina.
A lower league game attempting to reach the top in any way possible.
Yes, Finland.
Nah, I plan to skip round leagues and teams.
'One Way Or Another, I'm Gonna Get Ya.'
From Legend to Loser.![]()
My one not good enough for you?![]()
The font has changed!
Panic!!
Anyone updated to the latest patch? 10.0.2 or something like that. I was wondering how it is?
On the GD forum there seems to be lots of major isssues with it. Such as crazy transfers, Fatigue problems and dare i say it? superkeepers! But then again sometimes they get a bit carried away in GD.
I thought i'd ask here as i feel there is more chance of getting a sensible answer.
I've been quite happy with it.
My players do get quite tired during a match, but only to the point where a couple of subs are needed. The superkeepers issues seems to be only affecting people who use certain tactics which concentrate on creating 1on1s, personally I try to create a variety of chances and my shots to goal ratio seems quite reasonable.
You've went some way to answering your own question with this -
The GD patrons wouldn't be happy unless they had a drama with something being 'broke', 'unplayable', or the AI cheating and ruining their lives.I thought i'd ask here as i feel there is more chance of getting a sensible answer.
Update to 10.2 and play away mate.
Thanks for the replys.
I didn't think it could be as bad as suggested in GD forum.
I dont like my title. Suggestions ?
I love it TheMister![]()
Dunno, I dont hate it but I dont think it quite fits.
I HATE my current one, so regretting it![]()
'Tales of a multilingual legend'
Got to get something about your languages in the title I reckon
How about 'A History of the Word' or 'Travelling around the word'?![]()
how do you put titles in your links instead of the whole link if you know what i mean lol
[url^=*LINK*]Title Here[/^url]
no ^ in the parts
Title here would look like this title here
This is in the rules thread, makes it nice and easy. How to Add Links
At the top of the forum, go to 'quick links' then 'edit options'. At the bottom, select 'enhanced interface' and save the changes. This will give you access to the extra posting tools that make it easier to post links. Once you've done this, highlight the word you wish to turn into a link, then use the link button (looks like a little globe) to paste in the direct Url to your screenshot.
If you write it out in note pad+ like I do, then transfer it to the forum in enhanced interface mode, it turns it into a complete mess. lol. That's why I use the standard mode. (In the past, I have spent an hour writing my report in the forum interface only for my Internet to disconnect and lose all the work. That's why I write it in note pad first)
If we do an awards anytime in the future and their is an award for worst player then I demand that it be called the "The MeLikeFM Award"
Anything else is a travesty tbh.
Sounds fair to me![]()
