not really sure there's any point in their being an 'awards' for this forum until sometime next year, but would encourage it if it were to happen next year.

For me, end of release (so September time) would be best. That way you could make it more FM specific.
For the record, the FMS awards are generally in September.
Aren't the CSE awards monthly?
I'd help but what do i have to do?![]()
Yep, i'd probably agree. Whilst awards would be nice, in my opinion it would be a bit too soon for this forum.
Too soon? You could always give it to me![]()
Ha ha...i'm sure you'd love it Hursty!Currently there are 38 'live' threads. Whilst this is encouraging especially with the forum being so new, in my opinion it's not enough to be handing out awards yet. Hopefully, in a few months the forum will catch on more so and more people will post, enabling there to be more 'contenders' for awards if awards are to be given.
In my view though, the less threads there are, the more chance I have of winning
So in all fairness, let the awards begin!
(P.S: Raware, you would probably win the award if it was given out now so keep quiet)
Seriously, you're just being silly if you think you should have awards any time before next October. There's no value in an awards ceremony that takes place weeks after a new forum starts at all. The forum isn't about winning awards, its about recording career games. Let the forum actually get a life before jumping into anything else.
would like to repeat what I said earlier
not really sure there's any point in their being an 'awards' for this forum until sometime next year, but would encourage it if it were to happen next year.
Let them begin now then!
Seriously though, i have to agree with Peacemaker. It would be silly to have awards any time soon. As he said, the forum isn't about winning awards (although it would be nice), it's about recording career's and hopefully building a community with people who share the same passion in playing fm the 'career way'.
the focus for the next few months is surely going to be progress for the overall forum, on average there's about 5 people viewing the forum at anyone time (just going on when I go in this forum, or CSE), as the months go on this forum can only grow into a bigger and better place for all involved.
PM is right, in my opinion. However, if you want other information on the FMS awards I'm happy to help you.
I don't suppose there is any way a Mod can change the amount of images allowed in a post?
I have had to split my update in to two posts (in here) because I was only allowed to post 4 images instead of the 7 that I wanted to post. I think it would look tidier if I could have done it one post.
Not possible mate, I'll have a word with the big guy over this though.
A question for my followers. If a team that has never [or rarely] been in the N. Irish leagues gets promoted, should I take over them, and play with 2 clubs? It would add a little excitement, perhaps, if I could fast track them to the NIP, and a team as good as mine, and do it with a few others over the next 15-20 seasons, to make the league more competitive, the quality of N. Irish players a lot better, and hopfully really start bringing up the coefficients and world rankings of N. Ireland..
I'd make two saves the same, and take the second job on one. That way, if you don't enjoy it, you can carry on like normal. Not too realistic, but better than ruining a save.
Yeah, I guess thats not such a bad idea![]()
Nep you weren't on msn yesterday!!![]()
I was Purefun..!! I was on intermittently, admittedly [what a mouthful] - but yeah. Gotta pop to the in-laws for a bit this afternoon, but should be on around 3.
Just a quick poll here for those of you that have read my thread.
Is there anything that makes it unattatractive or bad. I seem to be getting hardly ant comments compared to Raware and AcidBurn, although I know they have their styles. Any suggestions?
P.S Didn't want this to clog my thread up so I posted here if this is bad I can post in my thread
I think your style is good, and you shouldn't make any significant changes to how you do your updates just to attract more comments. I read a lot of the Careers in here, but don't always comment, that's not because they're bad, but generally depends what mood I'm in, whether I'm just reading it to past time of uploads etc.
I agree with Paul. I also read a lot of the careers on here and don't always comment.
Sometimes you are enjoying the career but you can't always think of what to say. You can't always keep writing 'keep up the good work' all of the time.
On another subject, I was thinking of creating a career thread of my own at some point in the near future. Can anyone tell me how I can embed an image in a post? I just want to be able to put a club badge up like the rest of you have.
C.
[IMG>http://address of image/[IMG> and obviously substitute < with [
EDIT: example, here's my Maracana IMGhttp://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj194/Nerazzurri07/Fluminense%20FC/maracana.jpg/IMG
put [ and ] before and after img and /img. Hope that makes more sense!!

Or you click the little picture up on the message bar when you enter. It's the mountain with a sun
if someone has done something nifty, and I don't know how they did it. I press quote and reply under said post. And I can than see the code they used, and steal it for my own!
I use that button on my thread with my pictures
You shouldn't change your update style just to attract more comments. It's up to you how you tell your story and tell it which ever way suits you best. Whilst it's nice to receive comments from other's, it's not the be all and end all. As Paul and C. said, i've also read every thread on this forum and am enjoying each one for their own reasons but i don't comment on every one. I wouldn't want to comment on every one saying KUTGW as it would just turn into spamming.
I'm enjoying your thread the way you're doing it. In my opinion keep doing what you're doing, from the amount of views it's had it's clear that people are enjoying it.
Thanks for the help guys.
Just going to test it out:

Wahey, it worked!

Just a shame it's St. Alban's!![]()

Not sure whether to start a thread for my new save now or to wait and see how I get on with it.
My instinct is to hold off in case it's just a 'false start' and start it after I've played six months or perhaps a season.
I don't want to start the thread only to abandon it shortly afterwards. After all, you can't force a save to become great.
Any advice people?
C.
Yes, that's what I'm going to do. Cheers guys.
C.
Please can you stop signing your posts now?![]()
Wouldnt be Crouchy without the C. lol.
It's kind of pointless though![]()
It looks kind of stupid as well.
Well, in that case I guess it has something in common with your posts then.![]()
The reason that I like to sign my posts is explained here: http://community.sigames.com/showpos...&postcount=127
I hope this helps.
Sincerely yours,
C.
Why would people need to know to refer to you as C when they could just quote your post and then you would instantly know thay they are replying to you. All seems completely pointless to me, but whatever floats your boat.
Ridleys - my posting style is not really relevant to this discussion.
If you don't like reading my posts then feel free to add me to your ignore list. That's what I'm doing with you. Problem solved!
Regards,
C.
I haven't mentioned your posting style once![]()
Bah, like it matters. Let's get this discussion onto something relevant though.
really want to start a career game, but i know that i get bored of them quite quickly, so im writing it up in notepad first :P to see how it goes, probably make a thread after pre-season and a few league games.
I like your ideaI've done 2 season in Gundo's challenge but I decide to wait abit before I posted mine as It takes a bit of time to do seasons but I never thought of using notepad
![]()
My updates in Gundo's thread are just updates so in career the whole layout/detail needs to change and planed out to get people to read ect so the time to plan is there also.
yeah, i found the problem with notepad is it just keeps going haha, so i moved to wordpad, which is better.
also ive gone through pre-season, and even though its gone quite badly, im enjoying it, and will probably post it soon.
After a couple of weeks of following threads here, I have to say I'm enjoying the new forum. The main positive for me so far is that it has got me itching to start a career game as soon as possible! Alas, I'm too far into my challenge saves to get started now but I hope I get time to get round to it before the end of the summer. Or maybe I'll just continue one of my completed challenge saves over here.

Since joining the site i have found myself drawn to this area of the forum. Im pretty sure i will start a thread soon, maybe just to test the water and see if people enjoy following and i enjoying playing the actual game and of course updating the thread regularly.
I'm delighted with the response this forum has had in the past 3 weeksIn just under 3 weeks since it was set up, there's been 49 new career threads which in my opinion shows the demand is there and i hope this forum continue's. I, like other's have said above, find myself drawn to this part of the forum's more than any other now, whether that's to update my own thread or follow other people's thread.

Gotta to agree I really like coming in here and having a good read of some of the careers. If you start your own I would suggest getting the first season played first as you will then be able to decide if you are getting into your current save enough to keep updating about. Also just do it at your own pace I like to update in Jan and at that end of the season but now I am playing a bit less I might update once every few months.
Like LLM threads? play so many seasons then update? there's were 3 before, think its something stupid like play 10 seasons then you can post...unsure but i had previsously thought about some sort of restriction to posting until your firmly into your game. I'd done 4 seasons with Gateshead/Swansea but got bored of it, may return to it but i feel i'm firmly into my Cork Career.
As you probably know, the discussion occured about a minimum season rule when i started the thread about this new forum. I was one of the people who would've preferred a minimum season rule to stop people posting to never return but i have to say i think it's working with no rule in place. People that regularly update their post's get pushed to the top while the threads that aren't updated get pushed to the bottom of the page, which imo works quite well. As people said before, this way it isn't restrictive and everbody has a place to post then.
BTW, i'm following your Cork City thread and enjoying it, good work![]()
Cracking forum - exactly what ive wanted (albeit silently) as ive never had the real desire to write a full story, yet at the same time I enjoy writing updates on my career and reading updates from other careers.
Some really excellent updates in this forum, apologies if ive not responded in many threads - im like alot of others, I read whilst playing FM so I dont tend to post until its time to do my update.
My Fluminense thread is still live! Honest! LOL. I've just been busy with other things the last few days![]()
Excellent, I must've somehow missed the addition of this new forum (thanks for the 'heads up' in 'GD' Dafuge), which for a long while, I have felt agreement with those who pushed for it's creation. A much needed part of the board, which I'm sure I'll frequent regularly.
I'm just starting on summer holidays at the moment as have the kids coming to stay for school holidays, so FM time is going to be at a bare minimum, but I'll gladly contribute once september comes, and life resumes some semblance of normality.![]()
Ahhhhh
My most recent post should be deleted now because my game just randomlly crashed!!!![]()
It said that a error crash dumps error thing!!
Damn it second time that has happened. First it was the cat and now this.
If this has killed my game I am going to be so distraught. I may need counselling
I'm pretty sure crash dump errors only occur when a third party/in game editor has been used. I may be wrong though.
fwiw the only time I've ever had a crash dump error was when I was edited the finances and the players in my current sign up.
I assure all of you that I have not used the editor on this game at all.
@Tenthreeleader: I think there is one but it stopped rolling a while ago.
It's not that big a deal though but aannoying I have to play the same game for the 3rd time now.
I'm quite sure I had a few with 09, before installing an editor or using the in-game one, but my memory may be failing me![]()
I've had two issues with my FM09 save and I've never used an editor. Sometimes the save can just become corrupt.
Someone mentioned on these forums that an issue can occur if you save the game, exit and immediately put your laptop on standby or shutdown. Also, there can be issues if the hard drive on your computer becomes fragmented.
Have you run defrag on your computer recently Sax?
C.
By the way guys, there is a 'rate this thread' feature available in the forum. I think we should make use of it so newcomers can get a good impression of where to look for inspiration before starting their own threads.
I've rated the threads I'm subscribed too already but I believe several ratings are required before the stars show up on the main page.
I'll get rating straight away.![]()
That's something I never think of doing, but I'm off to rate now![]()
I can't get into Photobucket to complete my latest update! Bloody nuisance![]()
I'll start voting right away. Daf, your threads automatically get 1*![]()
![]()
![]()
So how do we get the ratings on the forum page?
Top of the page > Rate this Thread > Click Rating > Click Submit![]()
How do we see the ratings?
That's what I meant actully
They only appear after a certain number of people have voted (not sure of the number), so you won't see any just yet.
Any rough amount?
5, 10, 20, 100??
Ah ok, just wondered, thanks for the quick response dafuge![]()
