Starting issue

Hi people, wonder if anyone can help? I just got a brand new laptop over and above the spec for supporting fm 09. Everything seems fine after installing and starting the game but when I select the team for a game and try to proceed to the pre match build up it just freezes. Any idea of what the problem might be as I havent been able to get past the first friendly yet.

Do you have the latest versions of both Java and direct x? The game needs both of these to work correctly. Do you get any error messages?

Not sure, the laptop is brand new literally bought 3 days ago and I dont have direct internet access either.........am I going to need to download? It seems strange that game plays fine up until then but then wont go any further?

Try posting this in the known issues thread (either on this page or the next) dakey SI are very responsive there.

Try downloading direct x from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=2DA43D38-DB71-4C1B-BC6A-9B6652CD92A3&displaylang=en

and Java from http://java.com/en/download/index.jsp then reboot and try again. If you can't donwload then you should be able to get these of either a friend or a magazine coverdisk.

I have downloaded them both, although when I downloaded java it said succesfully downloaded but also came up with a syntax error?

Rebooted and tried the game but yet it again it doesnt process through to the match page from picking the side
