Can someone explain why for most of the time can only loan players for 3 months at a time. At other times I can do a season long loan or six months but the option of individual months i.e. 9 months are not selectable?
Also is short term loan in England classed as anything 3 months and under while a long term loan is anything over 3 months? Thanks

The time you can loan players for depends on the rules on the league you are playing. You can have limits on short-term loans, long-term loans, domestic loans, international loans, maximum loans overall, maximum loans from a single club, loan start dates and loan end dates. To find the ones for your league, go to the league your team is in, and click 'Rules' on the sidebar.
