I have been playing FM09 for a while but ive just come to start it up again today and it has come up with this message:



What do i type in here? some one help please!!

The product key from the manual. You would have had to activate it initially anyway, so wherever you got it from first time round.

okay, i have typed that in and now it comes up saying:

'We're sorry but this installation of FM09 certificate could not be acheived for the following reasons: The application was unable to connect to the internet. Please check your connection.'

Oh dear mate, that sounds frustrating. I think there's an FAQ or known issues thread around near the top of the forum that may be worth a look.

Are you trying to run it through Steam?

I've installed though Steam, do I have to run the game through Steam each time I want to play?
No you don't, you can create a shortcut to Football Manager 2009 without having to use Steam. Go to:
C:\Program Files\Steam\Steamapps\Common\Football Manager 2009\
and right click the fm.exe file and choose "send to desktop (create shortcut)"

Sorry to hijack this thread but I didnt want to start a new one just for this.

How come I didnt have to use my key? I just installed the game and Ive never been asked for my activation key ever?

Im on a Mac if that makes any difference.

MACs don't need the key, just the disc in the drive.
