Chairmen Swap - What Would Happen?

Recommended Posts

OK, I had a thought, if the Big 4 and Man City had the chairmen of lower league teams, and vice-versa, would the lower teams eventually take the bigger ones over?

Let's find out!

OK, I'm getting rid of the entire boards of directors, swapping the chairmen, the finances, and setting all 'Loyalty' stats to 20, to make sure they don't do a runner!

Manchester United's chairman will swap with Burnley's.

Liverpool's chairman will swap with Oldham's.

Chelsea's chairman will swap with Exeter's.

Arsenal's chairman will swap with York's, and,

Manchester City' mega-rich chairman will swap with Stalybridge Celtic's!

Edited now, booting up game!

Transfer Report

Man U

Loaned out Richard Eckersley to Millwall, but that's it!

Chelsea

Sold 3 players, including Ballack, for a total of £14.5M, but no in transfers.

Arsenal

2 youth players out on loan, but nothing!!

Liverpool

Lots of kids going out on loan, but nothing else!

Man C

See Liverpool.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Burnley

ONE transfer in, for about £300k. One.

Oldham

Have sold starlett Chris Taylor for £775K, for some reason, but have brought in £300Ks worth of new players.

Exeter

Brought in about £100K's worth of players, and have sold Matt Gill for £45K.

York

Yay, at last a team who doesn't sell when they don't need to! Brought in £60Ks worth of players too.

Stalybridge

Britain's richest club have been spending it big, a massive...!

£0. 2 loanees in, but nowt else!

Summary

This is wierd, the lower league teams are refusing to splash the cash, and the Big 5 are getting along fine on less than £2M balance!

I've geniescouted it, and all the figures are right, so...!

See you in January for the mid-season update!

Oh well, I guess an 8th November update is OK?

Premier League

12 played, and Liverpool lead the pack with an unbeaten 28 points, which is 4 clear of Man Utd in 2nd, who are 3 clear of Arsenal in 3rd. Just one point seperates 5 clubs from Arsenal in 3rd down to Pompey in 7th. You'll have noticed that one club has been noticable by their absence so far, and that's Chelsea way down in 8th, on 18 points, and new chairman Julien Tagg is already getting annoyed at Scolari, despite the Blues being just 3 points from that 4th spot! Our other club, Man City are having a poor start to the season, 13th on 15 points, 5 clear of Wigan in 18th, but 5 off that 6th spot, occupied by Newcastle.

Championship

Reading top the division at this early stage, with Burnley looking on enviously from 11th, albeit only 2 points from 6th (play-offs!)

League 1

Oldham manager John Sheridan's job is at risk from new owner Tom Hicks, as the Latics are in a surprising 15th position, 5 points from play-offs and relegation. Dirty Leeds (:p) top the league.

League 2

Clearly split into 2 sections: from Darlington in 7th to Macclesfield in 20th, there are only 4 points in it!! Exeter are just 2 points away from Darlo. Luton would occupy 4th without the deduction, needing only a win and a draw to get onto 0 points. Rotherham would be 12th, and Bournemouth would be 10th. It's Bury who should be worried, having only gained 8 points in 15 games, leaving them 21st (9 points adrift at the bottom, ignoring the points deductions!) a massive 9 points away from Macclesfield. Rochdale top the league, 1 clear of Port Vale at this early stage.

BSP

York occupy that all-important 5th place at the minute, just 1 point shy of a 3 way tie at the top, and 2 clear of 6th placed Weymouth, who aren't dying a slow and horrible death in FM.

BSN

Stalybridge occupy 9th position, 4 adrift of the last play-off place. Hucknall in last are still waiting for their first win, having picked up 6 draws.

6th January 2009!

Premier League

Hooray, we've finally got something fun going on!

Liverpool still lead the pack, on 45 points after 20 games. They're 3 clear of Arsenal in 2nd, who are 7 clear of Chelsea in 3rd; it's a 2 horse race. Guess who's in 4th? Yes... Pompey, who are joint on points with... Everton, who are one clear of... Newcastle, 3 clear of... Blackburn...

Where are the Red Devils, you ask?

Waaaay down in 9th, 4 adrift of the UEFA cup spot, never mind the Champions League!

Finally, paying Ronaldo's wages has caught up with them, and they've been docked 9 points for entering administration. Man City are still in 13th, but only 4 clear of the dreaded 18th spot...!

Championship

Birmingham lead the way after exactly half the games, with Burnley, wierdly, in 20th, quite a way from relegation mind, but nowhere near the 1st place we all imagined!

League 1

Much more like it from Shez and the Oldham boys, they're right up in 3rd now, only 4 away from Scunthorpe in 2nd, and 8 from Dirty, who still lead the way.

League 2

Still in 2 sections, but a larger gap now. Aldershot in 5th are only 8 clear of Morcambe in 18th. Luton are only 5 from safety now... it'll be interesting!!

BSP

York up to 2nd now, though that's still only enough for a play-off place, they need to gain 3 points on leaders Kettering to go straight up.

BSN

Stalybridge still occupy 9th position, wierdly still 4 adrift of the last play-off place. Hucknall are still last, and, after 21 games, are still waiting for their first win, picking up just 9 points, all from draws! I'd stop taking bets on bottom place if I were a bookie (though Hucknall could still get out of it, thanks to other teams being rubbish, they're only 9 from safety!)

January Transfer Report

Man U

Despite their financial troubles, they've not had to sell anyone, but couldn't afford any new blood.

Chelsea

Sold Pizarro for £3.2M, and Bridcutt for £200K to Reading. No In transfers.

Arsenal

They've sold Gallas to AC Milan for £8M, but haven't used the money for anything bar lining their back pockets!

Liverpool

Have sold Pennant to Spurs for £4.5M, no In transfers.

Man C

New manager, Ruud Gullit, hasn't done much, bar trying to flog Behrami to West Ham for a good £12M, but they're still in contract talks!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Burnley

Hey, this is more like it! 4 players brought in for a total of £12M!! Only 3 players sold, which came to about £300K overall!

Oldham

More like it from John Sheridan too, bringing in no less than 9 players, for over £3M overall, most notably Isiah Osbourne from Villa, for a good £2.6M!

Exeter

Craig Beattie joins Exeter, for £2.1M! Bits and bobs elsewhere makes the total £2.2M, on 7 players, with 6 leaving, for £50K all together.

York

9 players, £120K spent. Not bad, but could do better!!

Stalybridge

Britain's richest club have been spending it big, a massive...!

£0. 3 loanees in now, but nowt else!

Deja vu...?

Summary

Much more interesting, I reckon Celtic's tiny rep is preventing them from getting anything but loans and frees going!

Premier League

I'm an Oldham fan. I hate Man United, it's in my blood. But this is simply incredible.9th and adrift in January, they broke into the top 4 in mid-March... and went on to win the league, pipping Arsenal in the last day of the season, winning the league by 3 points. Chelsea came 3rd, and the AI correctly predicted the mid-season Liverpool self destruction, the Reds only finishing 4th in the end of a season that promised so much more. Man City escaped relegation by the skins of their teeth, staying up on goal difference! It was a 5 way tie on 36 points, so fans of Wigan and Stoke will be bitterly disapointed that they hadn't converted just one loss into a draw.

Screenshot: Premier League

Championship

Birmingham, Cardiff and Reading join the top flight, with Wolves losing to the latter in the play-off final. In the end, Burnley only avoided relegation by 4 points, which is pretty wierd, considering their January spending! Sheffield Utd, Nott. Forest, and Barnsley go down.

Screenshot: Championship.

League 1

The AI screws it up royally, and Dirty go up as champions, on exactly 100 points, followed by Scunthorpe in 2nd, and Leicester as the play-off winners. Oldham ended up in 5th, but lost to Crewe on penalties in the play-off semi final. Brighton, Yeovil, Stockport and Hereford drop down.

Screenshot: League 1

League 2

Bradford win the League, and are followed up by Port Vale, Gillingham, and Brentford. Any one of 5 sides had a play-off chance on the last day, but they didn't include Exeter, who ended up 13th, 5 off the play-offs. Luton escape relegation by quite a large margin, and can hope to build on this success next season.

Screenshot: League 2

BSP

York win the league! A great season by City will see them face the likes of Exeter next season! Wrexham won the play-offs, and Crawley, Eastbourne, Ebbsfleet and Lewes fall through the trap door.

Screenshot: BSP

BSN

Non-spending FC win the league! Celtic won the title by just one point, pipping Harrogate. AFC Telford won the play-offs. Hucknall actually won 4 games!!, but it wasn't enough to prevent them from gaining the wooden spoon, Burscough and Vauxhall following them down.Screenshot: BSN

That's all for today, more updates tomorrow!

September 1st 2009.

(I'll do all screenshots at the end of the season!)

Man U

Leo Franco on a free, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar from Ajax for £12M, and Inler Gokhan from 2 clubs (bug?!) for £6M (each!)

Chelsea

Sold £12M worth of players, including loads of frees, and bought £18M worth, no big names.

Arsenal

Bought Heitinga from Athletico Madrid, using £32M worth of their prize money from last season. Sold about £600Ks worth, along with the loanees!

Liverpool

Nobody In, but £21M out, including Mascherano for £19M. Several frees (no 1st teamers mind!)

Man C

Found £40M from their old chairman, that he left down the back of a sofa...! Spent it on 4 players, including Zenit's Danny. Sold Elano for £6M.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Burnley

Bought almost £9M more players, notibaly Mark Bunn from Blackburn. Sold a few players, raising £1.3M, including Steve Caldwell to fellow experementees, Oldham, for £95K!

Oldham

Spent £6M alltogether, including £1.6M on Jamie Ashdown. Loads of frees, including many of their more experienced players, like Sean Gregan, Kevin Maher, and Lee Hughes (boo!)!

Exeter

Millions of out frees, and spent £275K on Victor Moses from Palace, but that's it.

York

£2.3M spent, including almost £1M on David Livermore from Brighton. They've raided that club actually, spending almost £2m on 4 players.

Stalybridge

Why won't Steve Burr spend aything?! Several frees in and out, but not a penny changing hands!!

League Report

Premier League

Arsenal lead after 24 games, 6 clear of nearest rivals, Man Utd. They will, however, be wary of United making up a stupidly large gap last season. The other places in the top 4 are filled by Spurs and Villa, the latter leading 5th placed Chelsea by just one point, none of the 3 have a realistic chance at the title, mind. Liverpool seem to have been hit hard by their money worries, languishing in 8th, aleit only 5 adrift of 4th placed Villa. Man City sit in 10th, looking at a mid-table finish (at least last season was exciting!) Cariff, Hull and Birmingham fill the bottom 3 places, with Everton and West Brom glancing nervously over their shoulders.

Championship

Exactly the same as their update at this time last season; Bunley sit in 20th, only 4 clear of Scunthorpe and Preston... Swansea hold up the table, whilst Wolves top it. The AI seems ridiculously Leeds biased, there's no way that they'd hold 6th position by Christmas in their 1st season back!!

League 1

The Oldham boys are making another play-off push, sat in 7th, just one point off Bristol Rovers in 6th. Relegation wise, it's close: bottom club Port Vale could rise to 15th with just 2 wins. Sheffield Utd lead the way, miles clear of 2nd places Barnsley.

League 2

More like it from Exeter, lying in 5th. HOwever, just one point seperates Exeter from 10th placed York, having an excellent 1st season. Hereford (!) lead the pack (will the yo-yo?), and Aldershot and Wrexham are looking at relegation.

BSP

Stalybridge are looking at relegation, simple as. 23rd, and 6 points adrift. The anti-money policy along with their tiny rep it destroying their chances, IMO!

I'll do transfers it I get time, I'm juggling this with revision for my Biology exam tomorrow!

Transfer Report

Man U

Unhappy Kuszcazk sold to Villa for £4m, but nothing else.

Chelsea

Absolutely. Nothing. At. All.

Arsenal

See Chelsea.

Liverpool

Several low-profile players leaving Anfield, all for £1M and £2Ms, with all the money being used to line their pockets.

Man C

Spent £19M on players I've never heard of! Are the old days of the Arabs back?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Burnley

Nothing this window, bizarre considering their league form!!

Oldham

Joe Ndo in for £30K, but that's all, both in and out.

Exeter

Nothing this window, but why change the working formula?

York

ROBERT EARNSHAW!! £2.3M wonderfully spent IMO. No other transfers.

Stalybridge

Lets have a party, they've actually spent something!!!!! £35K on the wonderfully named Rhoys Wiggins from Palace, and £10K on another 2 players. No outs.

Thanks all, comments like those really do help me to keep going :)

By the way, the mixture of this experiment & Biology revision seemed to work, it was eaaaaaaasy!! :)

31st May, 2010.

League Report

Premier League

Arsenal win the leageu by a good 9 points in the end, comfortably ahead of nearest rivals Man Utd. Chelsea came 3rd, ahead of London rivals, Spurs. Villa were miles behind Spurs, and Liverpool came a disappointing 6th. City had an average 9th place finish, despite them splashing all that cash! Cardiff, Hull and Birmingham went down.

Championship

Burnley ended up 16th, miles from either end of the table. Blackpool, Swansea and Preston will be playing in League One next season, whilst Wolves, Fulham and Wigan will be playing Premier League football.

League 1

A frankly awful season for Oldham, ending up 8th, miles behind 6th placed Nott. Forest. Forest went up, actually, along with Huddersfield (WTH?!) and champions Sheffield Utd. Northampton, Port Vale, Southend and Cheltenham will join York in League 2 next season, after...

League 2

they ended up 10th, only 4 points off the play-offs. Exter go up as champions this season, along with Brighton, Luton, and Accrington. Wrexham and Dag & Red drop out of the Football League, to be replaced with...

BSP

not Stalybridge, but the Celtic will be pleased with avoiding the drop, ending up just one point above it. Rushden and Mansfield went up.

Screenies soon!

Elsewhere

It was a bad week European wise for Mersyside, Liverpool losing in the ECC final to Roma, Everton crashing out of the UEFA cup final to Werder. Man Utd did the domestic FA Cup/League Cup double. Gillingham won the paintpot, and Oxford won the Conference Shield.
