Could go on for years, but I like jods suggestion.
Sorry, I meant Alan. My memory is awful, and it was at least a minute between seeing the footballmanagerwiki recommendation and my post![]()
Who knows, maybe some people nominated jod mistaking him for me in the member of the quarter thread![]()
Yeah be my guest - use that wiki package that I have uploaded there. Any problems let me know.
I'll sort you out a domain name too tomorrow if you like it after getting the feel for it![]()
Cheers JJay, MediaWiki is a massive improvement![]()
Not a problem - I know how difficult it is to get started up so its nice to see people working hard to get it moving forward (and some familiar names).
I'm just unbridging the mediawiki version uploaded there so that people can register shortly if you want to start up usernames too
Edit/Delete what you need to in that wiki - and if anybody needs anything else I'm always contactable here on PM.
Does that mean I don't own it anymore?![]()
I believe so peter, unlucky![]()
Oh man, now I don't get the plaudits![]()
Can sometime enlighten me on the current development of this wiki? I just came back from school.![]()
Now to see JJay's involvement, I personally think he's a great teammate.![]()
Unlucky peter![]()
I also am slightly lost to what is happening now.
I have articles to post but where should I put them?
Put the links on the front page and in the right place. If/when we move, we will transfer all the files.
Peter - I've set up http://www.fmliveonline.com/fmwiki/i...itle=Main_Page for you which is blank.
If you are happy with that then let me know and I'll sort out your admin account.
Has anybody got a domain yet or do you want me to sort that out for you too? Footballmanagerwiki.com was taken too (which I saw suggested earlier).
I can get fmwiki.org.uk or footballmanagerwiki.co.uk
Prefer footballmanagerwiki.co.uk myself.
me too small Mac. If you wouldn't mind, could you set us up an admin account. If you did that could I then get my team of old admins back?
You'll be able to do whatever you need to do within the wiki (i.e. set admin/mods).
I'm just trying to speed the process up whilst I'm waiting on things to move some of your articles across there (the content is more important than layout right now) - it's not too painstaking either. I'll sort out the domain now.
Cheers mate, you are a legend.
Thanks BATracer teammate.![]()
Remember, at the end of the day the plus side with the wiki is that it is created by the community and belongs to the communityI don't claim any ownership over it at all
Like I said earlier too, I pushed so bloody hard for a FML wiki and I appreciate how hard it is to get it rolling in the first place. It's great to see so many interested people for a FM wiki over the space of just a couple of days!
The domain has been sorted out and should be pointing towards the Wiki tomorrow for you![]()
Thanks mate, what time are we looking at?
Thank you JJay.
I'm on an early shift 0700 x 1600 tomorrow - but I'll try and ensure its done sometime during that if I canIf not, when I get home a whole 5 minutes afterwards or similar hehe.
You can still edit the wiki as linked above (http://www.fmliveonline.com/fmwiki/). Sign up an account now Peter and I'll set your privs![]()
I'll start filling in the missing articles now then.
The domain already points now for quick access
And Peter - your rights have been set. For reference, to set others you can go to the Special Pages link on the bottom left and go to User Rights Management to set your Mods/Admin (sysops/bureaucrat)
Peter can do that for them as I don't know who they are. Are you one? I can set that if you are.
Anything else before I head to bed tonight?
Edit: Found the list of themYou are, and I'll set you up now
![]()
Great work people, especially JJay, looks like this project has alot of potential!
Cheers JJay
I've transferred over a lot of the pages, the don't look the same though. Will try to improve the appearance of some now.
Some already great content on there already which is promisingI best get some sleep and I'll help progress things tomorrow
![]()
If someone could make all the groups eg Premier League clubs I would be happy to copy all of the club ones onto FMWiki.
EDIT: I'm making them now, making titles seems quite easy. Now for making a new page...
EDIT AGAIN: I've made the league sections, but don't know how to add a new page e.g. a Arsenal page.

A lot of work seems to have being done when I was out. Glad to see it up and running again. Brilliant work JJay.![]()
Subscribe Jod and I will admin you again
Peter, do you know how to add a new page to it?
No actually, I don't
Have all the articles been transferred over now?
I've subscribed.
One way to create a new page is to put the name of it in the search bar and click on go.
Then if there is not already a page you get an option to create it.![]()
Under jod123?
It's either jod123 or jod12312 I think.
You are admin now Jod![]()
How do you add images with this software?
You're welcome, all this new tech stuff is a bit overwhelming![]()
From that it looks like only JJay will be able to change the settings for it.How do I enable uploading?
File uploads are an often-used feature of MediaWiki, but are disabled by default in all current release versions. To enable them, first make the upload directory (default images) writable by the web server (chmod 777 or allow the Apache user to write to it, etc.) then set $wgEnableUploads to true in LocalSettings.php (i.e. "$wgEnableUploads = true;"). See Manual:Configuring file uploads for more information.
Basically it means JJay has to change the setting from false to true in the LocalSettings file that he will have wherever he is hosting it.
Another good thing with this is we can change the skin from the few that are available to suit our individual tastes rather than one that we all want.![]()
Yeah, the first thing I did was try other skins. The original is easily the best.
What do people think of the Arsenal [and now Chelsea] page? Is it alright? If so I will do more tonight.
Also, are we going to get a proper badge? The FM background looks alright, but I think it would be great if we could make our own badge for it/
We definately need our own badge. I'm sick of the FM09 one. Hopefully Neji will give us a hand, he is the master after all![]()
I'll request a badge on Neji's site then - what type of badge are we looking for?
I'd prefer if we had our own unique badge tbh. But if we can't get one, then I'd have no problem using the SI logo if we had permission.
Arsenal page looks good Jammy, lots of detail in it
The link works fine fwiw.
I say it is just a badge with peter-evo underneath![]()
Neji is a photoshop man so he may be able to do us good.
The layout looks fine imo, as does the disclaimer![]()
http://www.footballmanagerwiki.co.uk/
That's the link to the Chelsea page, apaprently![]()
That is a link to the main page for me anyway.
I see we have a new user registered - SnootyJim. From here?![]()
I haven't become a member of it yet, I don't think. Can someone add me please?
Wigan is done.
That did not happen for me.
I got http://www.fmliveonline.com/fmwiki/i...?title=Chelsea
Anyway, yeah SnootyJim is welcome. Glad to have him on board.
You are a member as once you register you become one this wiki I think.
I would if I knew howHow do you add people, just for future reference?
Ok, I registered on the new site, and transferring the MLS stuff right now.
Just one quick question. How do I insert a table?
In reference to the Club Reputation article does anyone know how to align text properly?
I want to make the figures line up properly to make it neater.

{| border="1"
|row1 column1
|row1 column2

You obviously replace the row and column text with what you want in that particular cell.
And you can add in more rows and columns by following the layout.![]()
Do you want it in a table? You can make a table like I outlined above without the borders if you want.
This page will be of help to anyone who wants to use tables.![]()
Made myself an account and made a few changes.
EDIT: Apparently I've already been spotted
I added some tables on the Club Reputation and CA/PA pages to make them a bit neater.
Yeah, I noticed a while back. Glad to see you contributing.
Infact this whole guide will be useful to find how you do things on the wiki.![]()

I used to as well but haven't contributed for a long time. There was a lot of debate on Wikipedia. The layout of pages whether they were important to be on it in the first place and other things often caused huge debate.
Oh and I said earlier that you have to upload the images to use them. You actually don't. We still can't link them externally yet though as JJay has to enable that as well if we want it.
We're not quite as big as Wikipedia to be honest
The more people joining the better it will be for the Wiki, so its good to see new people contributing![]()
I've finished Arsenal, Everton, Liverpool, Manchester United(which took A LOT of work) and Wigan.
Seeing as the new Wiki has been made by all of us, should we change the introduction a bit?
At the moment it says
I think the second sentence needs changing a little, to give us all a little credit instead of just peter. Who fully deserves the credit, fwiw, for creating the first one. This Football Manager Wiki has been set up to give fans of the multi-platform management game a chance to learn things about the game, and find out all they need to know to run a succesful team.
The set-up was also largely to do with a request at the SI Forums in a thread by CaptainPlanet. We saw that the majority wanted a wiki page set up and I thought I would take it upon myself to create one.
I hope that the users who decide to create articles here will do so with utmost maturity, and will post only in subjects of which they have knowledge of.
I thought I would keep it short and sweet and let you read on about the more important things: Football Manager.
I agree, but I think to be honest the whole front page / introduction could probably do with gutting.
Eventually it would be nice to see a structured page with various panels like you would for a typical gamewiki, and all of that type of information from above could be moved into its own 'About Wiki' page or similar.
Hence, maybe it's better to leave it for now, and wait until there's something more substantial in the way of pages whose links can then be used to populate the main page?
