Nice to see all the new articles.
Maybe I should start working on typing information about the Asian leagues soon. (although I doubt there will a lot of views...looking at the current activity in my challenge )
Nice atricle on FM2008 there Jod
Does anyone have a list of the value ranges for club reputation?
8,000 - 10,000 = Worldwide
7,000 - 7,999 = Continental
maybe we could all collaborate and make an actual website rather than wiki and it can be run by the fans of fm
However I still prefer the wiki at the moment as with creating a website I think we would be tinkering around with the layout, design and how it looks rather than just focusing on the content which is the most important in my opinion.
Maybe when the wiki is finished, I am sure Jez could help with some of the stuff!
Also the beauty of a Wiki is that anybody can come along and add/update information, where as an actual website might be less accessible and therefore potentially miss out on alot of knowledge.
I hope no-one minds, but I have added some info to the SPL league page, some of the league rules and setup was missing, and as it is usually my league of choice I guessed I should put it in. Also unless anyone else has started it I would like to write the Celtic page.
Thanks Celtic, I am off to bed now lads, kutgw
I have done webdesign and am perfectly capable of putting a website together?
I'm done my MLS page before some more editing when the next patch is out. Have a look.
Wycombe page updated. I will gradually add extra info over the coming weeks as i have to revise for exams
It's all looking good people
Who changed the layout of the main page? I liked it the way it was to start with!
It was me.
I don't like scrolling and as more and more articles get added it'll end up as one long list to scroll down through to get to the relevant section.
Navigation needs to be smarter as it grows.
What's the difference, or have you changed it back?
Change it back Alan, i looks much better as a list, the table is hideous
Okay, so should I change it back to normal then?
I really can not see a difference!
I like it, it looks neater and it doesn't turn into a scroll fest. But, if the majority do not like it, we should change it back.
I agree, I just think the links look ugly, can't we change the colour of them?
I don't like the fact that the table is visable at all, but I can't find a way of hiding it. I just don't want a big list.
If you can find a better way of spreading it out then go for it, It was only a quick play.
Go for it, I would also like the link colour changed as I hate the purple that the links turn.
What link colour do we want then?
Navy blue (not the light blue) regardless of whether the link has been clicked or not, and left alligned with bullet points for each of the links under each heading.
And I'll try and find out how to hide the table border.
Could someone else try to change the link colour? I can't figure it out.
Sure, will try now
No, i can't find a way to change it, anyone else know how to do it?
You can't with the default interface, you can only do it if you write it in another langauge and then upload it.
I might have to break out notepad and write it in HTML.
Flippin heck CP, that could take a long. long time i warn you
Can I be bumped up to an organizer instead of a member.
Fair enough CP, you're an organiser now
Yeah, i agree that you should be an organiser as it was your idea in the first place CP
Last organiser now, 4 is enough.
Can't change the link colour when you're on the free basic version. the $5 a month version has fully customisable stylesheets.
I'm more than happy to front the cash, but can't do it from work.
I'll chip in if everone else agrees to the idea. Maybe a bit soon for putting money into this? It is only $5 though, so that's only about £2.50.
Cheers CP, the links look awful. Don't worry, us at home will continue to add to the site. I'm out this afternoon though, so don't expect anything from me after this morning
I think the links are looking a lot better since someone changed them to bullet points.
Can someone get rid of the lines of the table as they look horrid. Don't mind the layout, but get rid of the lines and it would look a lot beter, especially when the link colour is changed
Can't get rid of the table lines. or change the link text colour.
lets focus on getting the content up first before being too picky about the layout and colours though
Sorry CP, just an idea
And it's 3.94 euros - yeah, I think I'd be able to chip in. Not sure if we should bother paying though, wikispaces is crap tbh.
CP, are you able to set up the upgrade or will I have to do it?
Ah cool, though I think we should find a better wiki site.
Agreed peter, find a better site as paying for this one isn't worth it, there are plenty of other wiki sites that are the same price and are much better
Do you know of any.
Fwiw, I like the new design, with the table.
Still not the best it could be, but better than the scrolling.
I would be happy to pay towards one, but like others have said if we are serious about paying for one then we should find a better site to base it on.
Even if it means paying a little more, I think it would be worth it in the long term. Wikispaces does what we want it to do at the moment, but doesn't look very professional.
arsenal, love your location.
I agree with you about the sitep point. Do we want a wiki or our own url?
Maybe we should take up Jez's offer if we're really interested. But would we be able to keep it as a wiki if we did so?
If we move from a wiki site to a dedictate website with useful info we just turn into another fansite, wiki as part of the site name has much more punch.
Yes, I say keep the wiki, and then when we are ready, we can use a more dedicated url.
Personally I prefer a wiki as it everyone can contribute although that has a a good side and bad side as well I think as it can lead to arguments. Obviously it can be abused as well but that can be undone easily enough. However I remember hamilton (not picking on you, just an example ) said that he wants to edit the Wycombe article so nobody touch it. Anyone can come along and edit a wiki obviously so anyone who creates an article has to realise that it is not actually their article as such, as everyone has the right to edit it if they want to, especially if there is something in it they don't agree with like a player recommendation or something.
Also that is a thing about the club articles that arsenal got permission to use. Did the users agree that anyone can just come along and edit them?
A guest can also just edit out the name that was credited with creating the article.
We shouldn't pay for anything yet.
And, I think our own domain would be better than a wiki, to be honest.
Although, the wiki will do for now.
I will finish some articles and start my editing tonight.
I still need to create an account
I will compile the two CA articles together to make it a super article
Let me know how this goes CaptainPlanet (and co). I have been working on a FML wiki for a bit and it may be an idea to tie the two in together eventually for the ultimate FM resource
In case people are interested, here is a list of the people who have given me permission to use their club threads; Clicky
I'm going to do a page on the English Premier League, if no-one else is. Has anyone said they might want to?

Fix your link arsenal_2111. School boy error.
As if CP is getting all the credit for making it
I've done bugger all on it, I just planted the seed - I'm more of an ideas man than a doer!
Layout looks very poor thb, why not just seek to imitate wikipedia.
*Awaits barrage of abuse*
The following was all written by roberto922 in the Sports Interactive Community Forums. It was originally posted in the Football Manager 2009 Everton Thread. All credit for the below goes to him. As WikiSpaces is avalible to anyone to edit as they like, I can not guarentee that the below is the exact work of the original writer. What do you mean 'seek to imitate wikipedia'?
We aren't paying for this [yet], wheras Wikipedia have payed staff. This is not and will not be a website to make money, and we have little or no funds to put into it. Unlike Wikipedia, who raised around £1mil by begging.
I think the current set up is fine the way it is.
Galactus, we did experiment with the different layout options and colours last night and most people on here at the time thought that the current one is the best from the limited amout available on the free version.
I'll recommend MediaWiki to you to look in to.
Well, there is a way of making our own theme on wikispaces, but it's really complicated. We need to have a skinning expert with us to do all that
MediaWiki looks much better
I'll move it over later if we can agree on using it.
MediaWiki looks very good actually. Is it free?
Also, would we be able to move whole pages across, or would we have to create new pages and copy and paste?
Seems very complicated, I don't know how much help I would be with moving it over.
Still going strong I see, a move would be nice
Yeah I do use it for the FML Wiki.
An example of its flexible presentation is http://www.fmliveonline.com/wiki/ind...tle=Gameworlds
In the process of moving data to a new location so the above wiki will be quite limited
You would need to do it through copy and pasting if you have it hosted on a free webspace - highly annoying.
What I could say to you in the meantime though is that if you wish to edit the wiki link above to a FM wiki instead of FML one then I can host it for you Should you find an alternative webspace in the future then it will be easier to migrate through mySQL backups of the data which can be exported easily.
I am in agreement but what would our domain name be.
How about http://footballmanagerwiki.com/ Doesn't seem to be taken.
