When we have enough players, should we separate the players into club groups depending on where they have played in their careers eg. Crewe to find the players easier?

Not imo, that would be A LOT of work and wouldn't make it much easier imo - its in alphabetical order anyway.

Regarding the Scott Sinclair page, I've put a little bit on about the Chelsea one so it is clear why there was a new page made.

But having a page per club would take AGES surely?

I would prefer a page per club, as it would look neater. It don't think it would take as long as you would think.

We could also split that page into Current Players and Past Players.

So, for example, Robinho would be in the current players section for Man City but in the past players section for Real Madrid.

I don't think we'll have enough pages to have one per club in ages - Sorting them by nationality would be a start.

I looked at it yesterday and saw what he did. And, to be fair, judging from his contribution to this forum, I wouldn't really want him to do anything on the wiki.

Lets hope he can prove me wrong

No, I don't think that we would yet so, sorting by nationality could be a start.

Although, judging by the speed that they are going up, we may need it in clubs quite soon.

Another idea that we could do is sort them by clubs but focus on getting all the Premiership, Seria A and La Liga players done first so, that we have the three 'biggest' leagues in the world's players done.

I think stig already has a system whereby he adds people going by DOB (eg Today he adds a page on Hippity Hoppity because it's his birthday). That's probably the easiest way tbf.

I did do that but i'm just adding players from certain clubs atm. I'll go back to the DOB system if that would be better.

I'm not really too familiar with the Wiki, but it seems like there's no LLM page on it. Is there a place for this, should I add one? Or try to get a more experienced LLMer to add one?

I actually thought about adding an LLM page earlier today.

You can do one if you would like to

Just for clarification, I've started writing an "LLM" article. This is purely based on the LLM Forum on these boards. Is that wrong? Well, not so much wrong, but in your opinion should it still have the title LLM? I ask this because most people seem to regard LLM as managing in a lower division, but according to the LLM board, it isn't.

Yes, for sure. I've already contacted NepentheZ on using some stuff on Wallace vs Roberts and Neppo's youth project, just haven't got around to writing anything up yet.

I don't see any problem with it - just make sure to distinguish between the LLM forum ethos and 'regular' LLM.

Maybe do a LLM page that has links to

LLM - Real Management
and
LLM - Lower League Management

?

Like the Scott Sinclair index thing I made earlier.

I think it would be better if there was just the one page which distinguishes the differences between the two.

Well then just write it up from the LLaMa's point of view. It doesn't really matter.

Probably best you ask him can we use his stuff (assuming that you took it from a previous thread in LLM). If he doesn't want this info on the wiki well then so be it, not much we can do about it.

Done pages for various players, uploaded the other screenies from the 'request a screenie' thread in gptg and added club profiles for Fluminese and both Milan clubs.

All of the screenies i've uploaded have no accents, circumflexes etc. and have no capitals in the name of the files.

I'd like to ask, does the "Selected Article" change? Because it has been MLS for a while now.

Also, you could make the bold print at the start of the selected article link to the actual article itself.

I think we can change it outselves, by editing this page of the main page;

| class="MainPageBG" style="width:50%; border:1px solid #cedff2; background:#f5faff; vertical-align:top;"|
{| id="mp-right" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="5" style="width:100%; vertical-align:top; background:#f5faff;"
!

Selected Article

|-
| style="color:#000;" |

Major League Soccer (MLS) is the top flight professional soccer league in the United States and Canada. There are currently 14 teams in the MLS, 13 from the U.S. and 1 from Canada, in Football Manager 2009 (Currently, there are 15 teams, with the addition of Seattle Sounders FC. However, this team is unplayable in Football Manager 2009). The MLS season runs from April to November, and the season lasts for 30 games. After the season, the MLS Cup Playoffs commence, ending with the MLS Cup at a neutral venue to determine the MLS Champion. (more...)
It would be do able to edit it - shall I give it a go? If it doesn't work I'll just undo the edit.

So, for skins, it would be;

| class="MainPageBG" style="width:50%; border:1px solid #cedff2; background:#f5faff; vertical-align:top;"|
{| id="mp-right" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="5" style="width:100%; vertical-align:top; background:#f5faff;"
!

Selected Article

|-
| style="color:#000;" |

A skin changes the layout & general look & feel of your Football Manager game. Skins can change the colour and layout of things like the buttons, menus, panels and text. Changing the layout of a skin is one of the most challenging things to do with Football Manager. It involves editing lots of files, mostly those in the panels or graphics folders in the skin folder.(more...)
I think.

I'm intending to write some more competition/league guides at some point, do you think they would be better like this or this?

The 1st one is for an invididual league and is shorter, but contains all the required FM info, as well as a brief history of the league and the teams in it this season. The 2nd is for both leagues in the country, doesn't contain any history and doesn't list the teams. I don't think any of the ones from FM-Britain list the teams, shall I add them in?

Any other details anyone can think of that I should include?

I prefer the one on Ligue 1, I don't think all the history etc is necessary for a FM Wiki. Maybe add in a brief history, but personally I think having shorter pieces of text that it is easy to distinguish between is best.

Good, that's the one I wrote As for the history, I could put a brief paragraph in the introduction and get rid of the list of who's won it, that would probably be best.

Personally I think that, after having a league for so long, we should go for a more informative page rather than a player, non player, team or league page.

I suggest either;

Tactics
Training
Skins or
Youth Development (with the intro slightly reworded to make it more, introducing.)

Some of those pages are a bit short, are they not? I mean the skins page is still a stub!

To be fair the skins page is only a stub while I wait for replies from others I've asked for permission to use their skins - unless you don't think it has enough content to get rid of that tag?

I guess they are too short, but there aren't actually too many that are long articles.

You got any suggestions as to what could be used?

Youth development or skins could be used, not sure about the other two - the need a bit of touching up first imo.

I'll nominate my tips on making the game run faster well... because my ego is huge. I'll go with whatever you guys recommend, not all that bothered about it myself tbh.

Yeah, that would be a good one. May need to bulk out the intro a bit though, to make it fit the page. That, or list a couple of ways without explaining.

Very true, I'll bulk it up a bit over the weekend. Don't have much time on my hands at the moment.

I think there should be a CAMTGROG page regardless, purely because of a) the way it rolls off your tongue and b) how funny it was.

What do you guys think of having individual pages on popular CSE forum projects like Wallace vs Roberts and Neppo's Youth Project? I asked Nep for permission to use some of his posts but I'm still undecided as to whether we should have them on the wiki or not. Just looking for some opinions.

I'll have plenty of time to work on the wiki now - I'm sure I'll get around to writing up a fair few articles when I feel up to it. 3 months off now

So that's 4 hours a day for the next three months yes?

I reckon you may as well put them on, they are FM related and can be a good read. Would also offer help to others.

I'll put up something on Neppo's Youth Project later tonight. I'm asking Gundo for permission to have a page on his challenge seeing that our *official* representative is missing.

• Neppo's Youth Project
• Dafuge's Challenge
• Gundo's Challenge
• Rancer's Challenge
• JoseRR's Challenge

You have got most of the big ones. There is also:

The San Marino "Double" Challenge
The 1000 Appearence Challenge
DodgeeD's Ten Year Career Challenge
"To Basque in Glory" - The Athletico Bilbao Challenge

The Athletico Bilbao Challenge only started yesterday but looks interesting and apparently, is around most years with a different user running it each time.

I will do the two bolded articles, if you don't mind.

I'd like to think that we're at very least on par with those two sites at this stage.

Oh, and if you type "FM Wiki" into google it comes up as the fifth/sixth result - but if you type in "Football Manager Wiki" it's nowhere to be seen. That gives me the idea that it might be in our best interests to change the official name of the site to "Football Manager Wiki". Does anyone know if this would help us go up the page on the google searches?

DodgeeD has given me permission to do a page on his challenge, and he'll be helping me out a bit on the page. Hopefully I'll be able to get some other challenge makers to add a bit more background info to their challenge pages. Also, a challenges sub-category has been set up as suggested earlier.

Looking at those other 2 sites, I agree, we're at least on a par with them. We've got a lot more articles as well. Although quantity doesn't necessarily mean quality, most of our pages are fairly good

Looking at both of those sites, we are a lot better than site 1 and site 2 we are better than but we should include what they do on player profiles.

A strengths and weaknesses section etc.

Pretty much what I posted in the discussion page on the wiki for player profiles.

My page is the selected article, yet only 15th on most popular pages.

And the things you put about my challenge ahmufcwafc are good, although I'll make more changes (no I won't delete the stuff you wrote ) when I have the time after exams.

As far as I know wiki software doesn't include the option to make a forum on the main wiki site*. We might as well just put up a link to our private forum, obviously making it public first.

*That's a neoseeker wiki you see - and neoseeker do forum software as well as wiki software.

Yeah, it doesn't have anything on it that we wouldn't want people to see.

I'd do that - set up sub forums (e.g. wiki help, developing articles, discussion). No need for off topic stuff, it won't get used enough.

The layout's been changed, new sections created and there was a small thread purge. It's now open to guests.

fwiw, I thought that the forum and wiki together on the wiki 2 looked unprofessional.

Surely it wouldn't hurt replacing the empty "Community Portal" with a link to the forum, no?

Just a few thoughts:
1. As above, delete the community portal sidebar and replace it with a link to the forum.
2. What about a featured content page? I think it'd be a good way of promoting our best pages.
3. Delete the privacy policy and disclaimer links on the main page. They don't have any content and are utterly useless imho.
4. Do you think we should have some competitions? When signing us up as an official affiliate, Joe from SEGA told me that one of the benefits was that we'd be eligible to get some merchandise to raffle off. Looking at posts in the affiliates forum, they have some pretty cool stuff - free copies of FM09 are the most valuable prizes we can get in. I realise it's not very wiki-like to run competitions, but it might generate some interest if we ran a competition every quarter or half of a year.

Thoughts? Any other ideas on the layout of the main page would be welcome.

1. May as well, having links that don't work look very messy imo. Links should only be used when they link somewhere.
2. Yeah, I like that idea. Would have to extend some articles a lot to make them suitable though.
3. Haven't seen them, can't access the site atm. I'm sure it'll work again soon.
4. I like this idea - even if we only got a few entries it would be worth it. What other prizes are there, bar the game? I don't have access to the affiliates forum I reckon do one, make it last three months and if it goes well do another one. It'd also give us an idea of how many people actually use the wiki.

How would people enter the competition? The hotmail would work fine, but I reckon we need an fmwiki@sigames.com address tbh

Surely we have enough decent articles as it is to fill a page?

Completely agree. I'll try to sort out something regarding an email domain soon.

A mug, pack of cards and a t-shirt were the prizes iirc.

I've found a place where we can get @fmwiki.co.uk email adresses free - shall I try it?

If yes, what shall I put as the alternate email adress? The hotmail one? If so, what was it again?

Damn, you have to be American/Canadian to use it, which is a bit of a pain. Was this;

I'll have a look for another one.

Could Rancer maybe do it? I think he's Canadian.

Alternatively we could just make up the information
