I thought Rancer put the cakes bit in?
I thought Rancer put the cakes bit in?
I like the idea, but not all of the threads have them so someone would have to research them all...
And you can undo edits, by doing:
Recent Edits, (diff), then in the top right next to where it says who edited it it says 'undo'. Click that and submit the new entry![]()
I have just had an idea which would help on the club guides(nation) page, where we post about tv money, cup money, cups etc.
Gives more of an in-sight into managing in that country.
We now have badges for every club & team guide page. Well I think so anyway!
You get a big fat![]()

I've got one written for the GPTG, is it the sort of thing you mean?

A guide to making a team guide![]()
I've made the page, called Club Guide Template.
Could someone add in how to post images please? I'm still not sure... Cheers![]()
Good work Jammy, & hope that helps
- Upload an image from your computer (you may need to download it first if you're getting the image off google) - http://www.footballmanagerwiki.co.uk...Special:Upload
- Copy & paste the name of the image, including the 'image:' bit.
- Edit page screen.
- [[Image:Image Name|Right/Left/Centred/leave blank if no justification is needed|image size (eg. 120px)]]. An example would be [[Image:Arsenal.jpg|right|100px]]

K, i've written it in. If you think anything needs changing just say![]()
From tiny acorns grow mighty oaks.
Good work all![]()
I'd just like to say great work lads for all the effort you've put into the wiki recently. Now the majority of our articles have plenty of content, which is fantastic.
I'm going to run through all the articles again now & put a few stub tags on articles that might need a bit more work now.
Cool Alan, great stuff.
This project has really took off and it is much better than I, and I am sure, Alan expected![]()
I've added a line into the FAQ linking this thread and the Wiki itself.
Good work all![]()
Cheers skorp. More advertising for us, which obviously can't hurt![]()
Going by the number of hits this thread has in comparison with the FAQ, I doubt it'll make much difference!![]()
Aye, but most of them hits are from us.
Maybe you should put the link somewhere else... I don't know... maybe the front page![]()
Ah sure you never know, there's always the possibility that someone might find out about the wiki from the FAQ's. Besides, most of those hits come from about 10 regulars to the wiki.
Wipe out the notices section completely & replace it with a massive FM Wiki banner![]()
Sorry about my limited stadium articles this week.
I have had coursework but now I have two week holiday starting on Friday, where I will get plenty done.
Glad to hear you'll be back helping us soon Rob
I've set up a useful links page.
Great list mate
But one thing;
FM05 - 5.0.5
That can't be right! Thats insane!
EASTER ftw
Very happy about it
I will get loads of stadium pages done tomorrow.
I will finish off the Championship and Premiership as a minimum.
I think it'd be a good idea to do an article about the in-game easter eggs. Will get cracking on it some time over the weekend.
*shakes head and leaves*
What's going on stig?
Brilliant! I meant to do that you know...![]()
Alan... that was vile.
I genuinely didn't mean that, was just a terrible coincidental choice of words
Back on topic - peter, when are you going to start working on the wiki again?![]()
FYI there are some very good league guides, especially of obscure leagues, on FM Britain. They would come in handy for people who like to play with weird leagues or teams, perhaps you should ask them if you can use some of their stuff.
Those guides are excellent! I doubt we'll get permission to use them though.
Reword them and Bob's your sister, i'm pretty sure they have basically reworded wiki descriptions anyway.
Certainly is. Go and do your best to get permission mr representative!
I'll happily write new ones if you wish.
Their main site is down as that is what I originally planned to do.
http://www.fm-britain.co.uk/forums/i...0&#entry144303
I'll add what I have done, when I get the chance.
Edit: FM Britain have said it's ok to use their guides so that's a lot less work for me![]()

Great news that. Who wants to add them?
I'll add some happily, but am not a member of FMBritain so can't get them directly off there. Any other way you know, or will I have to sign up?
Hmm, it won't let me register. Says the email address you used is not accepted by this board. Please select a different email address. It's a hotmail.com adress, is that why?
I can put it on the wiki if you like jammy. Also, I think we all need to discuss the format of club guides. I got rid of some of the headers to make it look like wikipedia style intros a few days back, but I'm now thinking maybe we should come up with a new structure. What are your opinions on this?
It'd be great if you could, if not then i'm sure others would be able to do them.
What sort of format are you suggesting? When I made them I made them as similar as I could, depending on what was in each guide.
Anything that stops the index from being the first think you see on the page, with the intro above it. That's what I've done, but then the index looks a bit messy. What do you think yourself?
Yeah, I kind of see what you mean.
The real life information bit now isn't very easy to see, and the index looks a bit lost. I'm not really sure how it could be changed, but it could be better.
Might as well explain it clearer in case some of you don't get me (not aimed at you jammy fwiw, I think you know what I'm on about.
Man Utd Page
Chelsea page
Now, out of those two examples, which do you prefer? My problem with the Chelsea article is that it looks very bare without an introduction. I feel that the nickname, location etc should be put above the index - re-worded & with a bit more information included. What do you all think?
Yes, I agree that the Utd article looks better. But about 1/10 of articles have a reasonable amount of intro, so on the majority it would just be a sentence or two on the top of the page. It would be pointless having that, as it would be missed half the time. Look at the Liverpool Page for example. The real life information is a couple of lines, not including the peice about former managers (which I don't think is really needed, may delete it if no one minds). Yes, it will be a bit of an introduction. But in my opinion it would look a little ridiculous having one or two lines. A paragraph is needed minimum, and that is a lot of work.
I know what you mean. I think I'll have a scan through the club guides and mark all of those without proper introductions as stubs. I'll then list out all the stubs later on tonight![]()
Cheers Galactus.
O rly = Oh really
Is this openly editable?
I want to try beef up this wiki.
Also is there a set/layout I should follow in order to maintain consistency in the articles appearance?
I'm going to try get a SPL bit done also see my edit.
Well, we don't have any general guide written up (which reminds me, I really have to get around to doing that). Just try to follow the general layout of most of the other articles for now
But for club guides, this.

Yeah, so this is how we stand at the moment. Most of these that I've listed (in particular the club guides) have quite a lot of information. It's just that they're missing that extra bit of information that would make them feel complete imo. Just to let anyone that has any knowledge on these subjects know
This has been posted in a seperate topic in the wiki forum as well.
I think we need to do something to make the club guide template stand out more - maybe put it on the front page? Maybe it's time to replace the 'why we set this up' part. Also, I'm going to write up a general guide to making wiki pages.
One last reminder - don't be afraid to add/remove stub tags from pages.

I think I'm responsible for most of the MLS club pages.
I just need to time enough time to write them.![]()
I'll do the Manager options page now.
It's one of those topics where there isn't a lot to be said. I don't think there's much else to be added![]()
FM-Britain management said we can use any of the Lower League articles as long as there is a reference to the creator AND a link to the original.
In the Database Editor article, why is the FMRTE link there? Thats not about database editor, thats a save game editor I think.
I realise it mentions FMRTE, but imo it would be best to create a save game editor page and link to it in there. Linking to FMRTE in the database editor page could cause confusion imo.
Not really a mistake, but ok then
I've made a few changes to that article, do you think it's ready to have the Stub tag taken off? I'm not sure how much more could be put in.
http://www.footballmanagerwiki.co.uk...atabase_Editor
You know what, I think we should leave it on for now. Since there's so much you can do with the editor, I think we should leave it as a stub until it becomes a difinitive guide on using the editor.
Hold on, I made an editor guide for someone else last week, & sent it through PMs. Hopefully I still have it in my outbox, then it'll just be a copy & paste job!
To whoever made the 'Regen Editing' Article, it really needs finishing. At the moment it is pretty much pointless, as it doesn't explain how to do this.
Also, I'm not sure there is a point in having staff profiles and player profiles. I can't see either getting too many done, so we should mix the two. Views?
I know how to do it
Plus, it was me who made it originally, but let's blame Jod anyway
I will get on to it asap. I have not been on much over the last two weeks so, that is why it is not done.
Upload the screenshots and post them in and I will use them to write some of it.
