CaptainPlanet did his bit on the old one but hasn't been made an admin for the new site.
Oh yes, JJay, I completly forgot about him. Woops!
He has done a lot of work with the layout of the site etc. , so a lot of thanks must go to him.
I think that we need to set ourselves targets for when we should have stuff done by, and how many things should be done by when, to try and improve the site more, rather than just doing odd bits when there is nothing else to be done.
What do you guys think?
It would be nice for the members of SI to show a little appreciation and post a few links as this project is doing very well at the moment and deserves some recognistion.
We would draw up a calender like thing every month.
The main members could inform us of when they will have time to do stuff etc and then, will have targets and will have to have done so many articles by the end of the month.
Just a small idea which clearly needs revising but I feel that it will help the site a lot.
Johnyboy you are welcome to edit any articles you like if you feel you can improve them. You can also also create your own articles obviously. Just create an account on the site.![]()
Just post a link to it.
I am sure he can be![]()
I just think it is kind of ironic that the spammer seems to have revived the wiki.![]()
![]()
I think that to be an affiliate then, you have to have added a significant number of articles as, it is like free advertising.
I reckon around 10 good quality articles would be a significant amount to make someone an affiliate.
I am a member of Johny's site and have put some work in to help it but I still feel that a spot on the affiliates list should be earned by helping our site.
Can we discuss my above post about a schedule as, I think that it is quite important and the sooner we decide, the better![]()
I see your point, jod.
And, I like that we can edit it when we want etc. but I just thought that it will improve the website if we increased the workload on it.
Stupid question but: What's this affiliate business all about?![]()
Where is this affilates section though? I've never seen it before.
I don't like the idea of making Johny's forum an affiliate, as it doesn't have anything to do with the wiki project.
Nor would most of the other 'affiliates' we choose to select.
We do not have a section at the moment.
We do have a relationship with Johny's forum and a link from there to here could maybe help us.
To be fair, Johny's forum has the same posters as this forum, so I'd highly doubt it'd make much of a difference.
Probably, we do need an advertisement somewhere though.
4000 visits is impressive though.
I will create an article in the discussions page for Affiliates about this and we can have a vote there.
I don't think that we should have it as an affiliate yet because it would be free advertising for him and he wants it there, and can have it there once, he contributes to our site.
I just checked and where did you get 4,000 views from.
I got:
There have been a total of 22,778 page views, and 1,586 page edits since FM Wiki was setup. That comes to 4.69 average edits per page, and 14.36 views per edit.
Yeah, but it'd be absolutely ridiculous to start advertising something to people who already know about the product.
The place to advertise your sites is the fansites forum. I know you're going to say that it's a project & not a fansite, but if blogs count, I'm sure wiki projects will count as well.
Why doesn't someone have it in their location?![]()
Yeah that is good work ssestig.
I was looking through that spammers history and it must be automated as they were literally making around 4 edits every hour of every day since last Thursday evening and I mean every hour. The other thing that makes me think it is automated is why are they just doing that to the 1 page? I just unprotected it a second ago and unblocked both ips and at that exact moment it happened again. So it is protected again and only 1 ip is blocked but the other one is doing nothing at the moment but I bet you if we unprotect the talk page it will happen again from that ip.
Johny's Forum is no more, so it wont need to be added to the affiliates.
I see, there is nothing we can do then can we Jod except leave it protected.
Only a minor set-back![]()
I think that it is best having the whole thing protected as if someone wants to contribute then, they will be more than happy to create an account and it at least lets us have a name for the spammers and means that they have to sign-up to spam which will annoy them and take them longer.
As well, as keeping out automated systems.
Yeah I was thinking that myself Rob but we have had very little difficulties really and I see some people that are not registered have made some good edits so I think let's leave it for the moment. If it got really bad then that is certainly an option.
Yeah, I guess your right, there have been some good edits by anonymous people.
As long as we have the option open to do it, we will always be alright.
But, if members continued to join and then, spam, what would we do?
As if we banned them, they could just re-join.
And, if we banned the ISP, then wouldn't we have to contact the ISP provider or something.
Thanks.
A bit trivial to close a forum on don't you think?
Who complained?Sorry just trying to get my facts straight
I am busy at the current moment making a different website so, I won't have much time for contributing this week but will do odd bits.
BTW, I created a discussion page about the affiliates. It was concerning Johny's forum but seeing as that is gone, it isn't about that but I still think that us core members should discuss the affiliates.
Haza555 has just told me that the Kansas City page is empty. To the person who made the page, could you complete the page please? Thanks![]()
There are many pages empty as links were just created and I categorised them. That is not the only one.

A few of them blank pages are mine.
But, I will do them. I just need the time and motivation. I might knock up a Redditch article tonight.![]()
Do it! (Motivation enough?)
Sorry everyone, I've been a bit busy and haven't had much time with the wiki...
I'll complete the MLS club pages eventually. No worries.
Gotta start with that TFC page soon I think.![]()
Will we have pages for the cups that are on offer on FM once we have the league profiles sorted?
Just to bulk out the Wiki, could we have seperate pages for small things, such as stadiums? Like, a page on the Emirates, etc etc. Might not be that useful but it adds another dimension to the project. Or even just add in the interesting ones, like Hull's stadium that isn't the KC.
Just been on there now, and there was someone who had edited the main page. Have a look in the history page, but it isn't suitable imo and should get him a warning/whatever is given. I've edited it back, can't remember if it was that exactly but it was something like that.
Definately an option available
The idea behind allowing it is so that anybody can edit stuff in whether registered or not thus giving a larger user base to who edits. However, with an already active user base who are editing (yourselves!) allowing registered users only to edit may be beneficial![]()
What is this SEGA/Eidos split Jod? As far as I know, these two companies have never had any connection![]()
I have no idea and nothing to do with it.I was just reverting similar edits to what were on the main page a minute ago.
They used to work together to make CM up until CM03/04 which was their last.
And, then they split to make FM and CM.
I've changed the title etc on that, and developed it a little. Still needs more though.
Also added a few club guides, and redirections (e.g takeovers now goes to board takeovers)
Ok, good work!
I think that it could have been my error![]()
http://community.sigames.com/showpos...95&postcount=4
I have finished EVERY club guide I have been given permission for now, I think I've done about 15 today. Took longer than normal, even though some were shorter than normal.
Fantastic work there.![]()

So, if anyone has any knowledge or interest in working on on those topics, could you please have a look at them. Thanks
I'm going to add a bit onto some of the stubs as soon as possible.
Actually, there is something wrong with one of the stubs and it is mine.
It is the Regen Editing article, as I have only outlined why would you want to add your own regens, and not explained how yet.
I will go into more detail on more articles tomorrow.
I have added a discussion page about the Stadiums.
And, whether they could have their own pages as well or not.
I'm glad to see that I made none of them, thought I had left one blank for a bit
I'll try and develop the FMH page in a minute, but I need to do the PSV page first.
-------------------------------
Out of interest, why do we have discussions? Surely we can just use this forum?
I guess we could use this thread but I guess that it is for the privacy.
Yeah, I know but it is only us 'die-hard' members who go on the discussion page.
'Die-Hard'![]()
Also, any news on the SI affiliation?
I am having problems linking pages to the category stadiums.
I think it may be due to a redirect page we have from 'stadiums' to 'Stadia'.
I have deleted the re-direct information but I can't delete the article, because I am not a mod.
They contacted me, Alan and JJay but I have heard no further updates. He basically told us what it involves and told us our project was unique.
Okay, I haven't said anything about this here yet, so I might as well mention it now.
A few days ago, CaptainHaddock sent me a PM saying that he'd be interested in making us an official offiliate of SI. We'll be mentioned in the affiliates section on the FM website, & we'll also be on the official facebook page. I think this is great & just the type of advertising we've needed. We should be made an affiliate soon enough.
We have been spammed again!
This is getting very annoying!
It is the same message on three of the pages but I cannot post it on here.
The pages are the United States, Hoffenhiem and Russia pages.
I am not a mod(It would help if I was![]()
) So, I cannot change it back.
