  1. Yeah much as I love Tomori he was rubbish against us at the Bridge and then sent off (if harshly) early at the San Siro, I think it's fair enough for Southgate not to change his mind based on that alone and I wouldn't be surprised if he gets jumped by at least Marc Guehi too. That being said I'd be much more surprised if it's not Stones and Maguire still come March.
  2. A ref not letting VAR decide the game, what a novel concept. Give this guy every other match in this competition.
  3. Undeniably very funny. Also quite interesting that Qatar's approach to sportswashing has been threatening to smash up camera equipment, banning booze at the last minute and now pissing off the people they were paying to be nice about them - you're supposed to make people like you, lads!
  4. ITV 2010 and BBC 2002 my favourites for sentimental reasons (favourite and first World Cup respectively), BBC 98 and 06 are the two that come closest to actually giving me goosebumps, ITV 2014 is objectively great, ITV 06 and both for USA 94 are rubbish.
  5. 40 games last season and hasn't missed any so far this, so hopefully those days are behind him. Still hasn't kicked on to the real world class level we thought he might get to but I think it's gone under the radar just how good he actually is. Far from an outrage that he's not there though.
  6. Gallagher as a specialist to come on and press like mad for 20 minutes has a certain amount of logic to it but it's still a surprise to see him get the call up, not least because RLC is better, more tested and more versatile playing in the same midfield. Only taking one proper centre forward as backup who plays in a totally different way to Kane and is notoriously made of glass is a bit of a concern though.
  7. I've got the 5 weekdays with a 10am game booked off work and should be able to work around matches the rest of the time, so will likely watch everything except one of each simultaneous group games and maybe the third place playoff. There's definitely a completely different feeling about it, everything about it feels tainted in so many ways (though from a purely footballing pov it is also the last 32 team tournament so has that over 2026 and beyond) and I'm sure that will continue throughout, especially if the atmosphere at matches is a bit crap. Don't know if it's the timing or the lingering sense of guilt for not boycotting but we're 10 days out and I'm still having to Google who's in which group, would have had them memorised about 10 minutes after the draw in all the previous tournaments
  8. Apparently it's just Shaw with Tripper and Saka considered enough cover. Seems very risky to me, not least because those two are my starting right side
