  1. Kavala Football Club / Αθλητικός Όμιλος Καβάλα Season 21 - 2044/45 Schedule / Squad / Transfers / Finances / Manager Season Summary: this season, our performance in the league was disappointing. We finished 6th in the regular phase, a full 10 points behind AEK, who secured the top spot. After winning the title last year, we hoped to climb a few places in the standings. Unfortunately, we had a rough end to the season, only earning 8 points in our last 10 games. This placed us 6th overall and out of contention for the Champions League next season. It's especially tough considering that this year, for the first time ever, 4 teams from Greece qualified for UEFA's top competition, due to our country rising to 5th place in the coefficient rankings. In total, 7 teams made it to European competitions, with Asteras Tripolis finishing 1st in the relegation phase. In the Greek cup, we were far from winning, exiting in the quarter-finals once again after a match against AEK. Our run in the Champions League was decent. We made it to the Round of 16 for the first time after finishing 10th in the group phase with 15 points from 5 wins and 3 losses. Notable wins included a 3-2 against Juventus and a 4-3 against Manchester United. Unfortunately, we were defeated by Real Madrid with a 6-1 aggregate score. A big surprise came at the end of the season when we received news that we would be playing in the FIFA Club World Cup due to our high ranking in UEFA. We managed to draw against the Italian giants AC Milan and defeat the Egyptian team Pyramids. However, we suffered a heavy 5-1 defeat against Corinthians in the final group stage game, finishing 3rd in Group C. Alexandros Donis was our top goal scorer with 12 goals, and Nikos Siaperas was our most consistent player with an average rating of 7.15 per game. This marked the last season for Dimitris Manafis, who ended his 20-year career with almost 500 matches, holding the record for the most appearances with Kavala's shirt. A significant achievement this year was our finances reaching the 100 million mark, with a large portion coming from the prize pools generated by our participation in the Champions League. Youth intake: we had another decent intake this year with the most promising players being Vasilis Tsirelas 45a, Giorgos Kaloudis 45b, Markos Gentsoglou 45c, Kyriakos Aspiotis 45d, Babis Tasiopoulos 45e and Ilias Bedrelis 45f. We bid farewell to our Head of Youth Development Luka Livojević after 18 years of service and welcomed Vigen Hovhannisyan. Our U19 team successfully defended their Youth League title after a flawless campaign. They also won the Euro/South American Super Cup against River Plate's youth team. As expected, our youth team also secured the league title once again with a considerable lead. Team history: Manager history:
  2. Kavala Football Club / Αθλητικός Όμιλος Καβάλα Season 20 - 2043/44 Schedule / Squad / Transfers / Finances / Manager Season Summary: History was made! Kavala won their first-ever Greek title. We had a disappointing campaign in the first half of the championship, finishing 5th in the regular phase and 10 points away from PAOK. I didn't have any high expectations for the championship phase; however, we had our best campaign so far, winning 8 of the 10 matches and reaching the top of the league with two games to go. On the last day of the season, we faced PAOK away with one point in hand over Olympiacos. We lost our game, but even more surprisingly, Volos won against the 61-time Greek champions, giving us our first title in history and being the team that became champions with fewer points. In the cup, we defeated Anagennisi Karditsas in the sixth round and AEK in the quarter-finals, only to be eliminated by Asteras Tripolis in the semis with a 2-0 aggregate. Asteras Tripolis, who didn't make it to the championship group in the league, also ended up losing the final to PAOK, as well as losing the Conference League final to Villarreal. In our debut in the Champions League group phase, we had a pretty decent run, defeating Atlético de Madrid and Rennes, and managing to draw against Benfica, Athletic Bilbao, AC Milan, and PSV, with only two losses to Arsenal and Dortmund. We finished 18th, only to lose against Liverpool in the knockouts with a 5-1 aggregate. Our senior affiliated club FC Porto ended up winning the competition, defeating Real Madrid at the Bernabéu. After losing Nikos Prountzos 39b to Al-Ahli for 16 million (possible 21), the main star this season was Christos Omiridis, the top goalscorer in the league with 23 goals and also elected as the best Greek player in the Super League. With his performances, he was able to accumulate an average rating of 7.11, being our most consistent player. Tryfonas Synodinos won the Talent of the Year award for the best young player in the league, and Nikos Tsokaktsidis was the 3rd best goalkeeper. With our performances, we were able to have seven players selected for the league's Best XI. I won the Manager of the Year award for the fourth time. Dimitris Tsoktouridis 42c was between the 100 most primising wonderkids, in NXGN's 28th place. Youth intake: A few elite players came from this year's intake, such as Petros Klokidis 44a, Giotis Toursounidis 44b, Zviad Tkemaladze 44c and Giorgos Chalastanis 44d. Not only was this year historic for our first team, but also for our U19s, who became champions of Greece for the eleventh consecutive time and won the UEFA Youth League in their first-ever participation, with some impressive results (yeah, nah, AI is not broken at all... ). 3. Kavala Football Club / Αθλητικός Όμιλος Καβάλα Season 19 - 2042/43 Schedule / Squad / Transfers / Finances / Manager Season Summary: Another long season has come to an end in Greece. After 36 league games, we were able to qualify for the Champions League group stage for the first time in our history, finishing 2nd in the league and matching our best finish ever. We climbed from 4th place in the regular phase and defeated our main opponents to secure a podium finish for the third time in Kavala's history. In the cup, we reached the semi-finals once again, after defeating Aris in the 6th Round and Atromitos in the quarter-finals, before being eliminated by Olympiacos in the semis with a 6-4 aggregate score. In Europe, we qualified directly for the group phase of the Europa League. This time, it was no easy task. After finishing 1st in the group stage last year, this time we finished 10th and needed to go through the playoffs, where we defeated Sporting de Braga. In the Round of 16, we faced our Greek rivals PAOK, who finished 1st in their group. We managed to win the first leg at home, but in the second leg in Toumba, we suffered a disappointing elimination after conceding 4 goals, resulting in an aggregate score of 5-3 in both legs. Nikos Siaperas was once again our most consistent player with an average of 7.40 points per game and won the Greek Talent of the Year award, renewing the accolade he received last year. He also won the Young Player of the Season in the Europa League and was featured in the Super League Best XI, alongside Dimitris Manafis and Alexandros Donis, with the former also being named Greek Player of the Year. Our top goalscorer this season was once again Nikos Prountzos with 21 goals. It will be challenging to keep him with us next season, as he is being pursued by several Arab clubs. I finished in second place in the Manager of the Year award for the 7th time. This year, I received an interview offer from Olympiacos, which I promptly rejected. At the end of the season, our training facilities began to deteriorate. However, the board agreed to upgrade them, investing 2.9 million. Our finances have been stable for the past few seasons due to the prize money we received from European competitions. Our participation in Europe has also helped us climb the rankings, now sitting at an honorable 16th place. A notable achievement this season and evidence of our growth is reaching the half a million followers mark on social media. Youth Intake: This season brought one of the best intakes in the last decade, with a few elite talents emerging. We have some promising players from various countries, with the most notable being Andrianos Kottakis 43a, Milton Morales 43b, Kostas Kyriakidis 43c, Marios Thraskias 43d, Loukas Fetfatzidis 43e, Ermal Selimi 43f and Dimitris Psemmatas 43g. The 2042/43 season also marks Kavala's 10th consecutive title in the U19 league. Additionally, as we have qualified for the UCL league phase, it will be our debut in the Youth League next season. 4. Hi. I'm going into my 20th season in Greece, doing the Youth Academy Challenge. So far, I haven't had the option from the board to request a B team. I don't know if it's even available, but since there are 4 teams in Greece with B teams (AEK, Olympiacos, Panathinaikos, and PAOK), shouldn't I be able to request it too?
  5. Kavala Football Club / Αθλητικός Όμιλος Καβάλα Season 18 - 2041/42 Schedule / Squad / Transfers / Finances / Manager Season Summary: We're at a point in the challenge where it's hard to establish ourselves as a top team in Greece. The fact that the league splits into two after 26 games makes us play with the top-level teams four times in the season, which is causing us to lose a lot of points at the end of the season. The challenge and the way to success is to accumulate the maximum possible points in the regular phase against the 'weaker' teams so we're able to challenge the 'giants' in the latter stages of the competition. We didn't get past the 4th place this time, both in the regular phase and the championship group, qualifying once again for the Europa League group phase. In the Europa League, we once again qualified for the group phase after easily getting past Mlada Boleslav in the playoffs. We had a brilliant run, winning 6 out of the 8 games in this phase, qualifying in 1st place and defeating Newcastle in the Round of 16, only to fall against Shakhtar in the quarter-finals with an aggregate of 5-0. Nikos Prountzos was the top goalscorer in the league with 19 goals and was named the second most promising wonderkid in the world according to NXGN 2042. He also matched Kosmas Gekas' record of 26 goals in a season from 2026/27. Our right-back, Nikos Siaperas, was one of the most important players this year, being the second-best player in the Europa League and the Young Player of the Season in UEFA's second competition, also winning the Youth Player of the Year award followed by Dimitris Chatzigiannis in second. Both were also part of the Greek Player of the Year award in the league, with Kostas Magafinis completing the top 3. Both Nikos Prountzos and Nikos Siaperas were part of the Best XI in the Super League and I was once again the second-best manager in the league. We didn't make any major sales this year; however, our center-back Vyacheslav Osipov has already agreed to a deal, not renewing his contract and moving to Ikralis for free next season. He wanted to leave for a bigger club, so one of our most important players will now play... in the second league next year. The expansion of the Kavala Stadium was completed at the start of the season, now able to accommodate 34k spectators. Youth intake: A few interesting players are coming in this year's intake, such as Vasilis Gounelas 42a, Spyros Stratilatis 42b and Dimitris Tsoktouridis 42c. This year marked the 9th consecutive U19 title for Kavala. However, our youth team has yet to play in the UEFA Youth League, even though we're miles away from the rest of the competition in Greece... 6. Kavala Football Club / Αθλητικός Όμιλος Καβάλα Season 17 - 2040/41 Schedule / Squad / Transfers / Finances / Manager Season Summary: This season, we didn't get close to the top. We finished the regular phase in 5th place, and the players felt really tired after playing so many games in Europe and in the cup matches. We managed to improve to 4th place in the championship group, which got us into the Europa League. It felt like a step back, especially after being in the top three for the last two years. We started off in the Champions League against Sturm, winning both games 1-0. Then, in the playoff before the group stage, we played against Galatasaray. We won at home, but we were pretty disappointed when we lost 6-0 in the away match, which meant we moved to the Europa League. In the Europa League, things went much better. We easily made it to the knockout rounds by finishing 2nd in the group phase, just behind Chelsea. We won 7 out of 8 games, only losing to Villarreal. We beat Dinamo Zagreb, Real Sociedad, and Chelsea (we became the only team to defeat the blues in the competition) to reach the final, where we faced AEK, another Greek team. In the final game in Glasgow, we sadly lost 2-1. Our fantastic run in the Europa League helped us climb up the European rankings. Now, we're the highest-ranked Greek team at 27th in Europe. This also helped Greece move up to 6th place in the UEFA coefficient table, which means three Greek teams will qualify for the UEFA Champions League in 2042/43. Next season, we'll have three teams in the league phase, as we had the second-highest coefficient. In terms of our reputation, we climbed to 4th place in Greece, surpassing the 20-time Greek champions Panathinaikos. In this year's Europa League semi-final, were we faced Efthymis Christous, one of the top players that our academy produced, that moved to London from Benfica for 57 million euros. Individually, we had some standout players. Dimitris Chatzigiannis was the 2nd best youth player in the league, and Nikos Tsokaktsidis was the second-best goalkeeper. Alexandros Donis won the title of the best Greek player in the league and made it to the best XI, while Dimitris Manafis came in 3rd. Once again, I was honored to win the Manager of the Year award. This season, I even received offers from the Mexican and Croatian Football Associations to become their manager. Gersi Kuqi, with an average of 7.18 points per game, and Christos Omiridis, with 18 goals, were our most consistent players. After the stadium expansion at the start of the season, we keep improving the facilities, this time, adding 4000 more seats to the stadium. Youth intake: Our academy had some exciting new talents, with the most promising being Petros Mavrogenidis, Sotiris Mantalos, and Borislav Panayotov. This year, our U19's won their eighth consecutive title. Team history: Manager history:
  7. Kavala Football Club / Αθλητικός Όμιλος Καβάλα Season 16 - 2039/40 Schedule / Squad / Transfers / Finances / Manager Season Summary: another historic season culminated in our best finish yet. We clinched the top spot in the regular season, though we encountered some struggles in the championship group. Nevertheless, we secured our first-ever Champions League qualification in a thrilling final match against Panathinaikos. In the Greek Cup, we advanced to the semi-finals but were ultimately defeated by Olympiacos. Our journey began in the Europa League, marking our inaugural participation, but unfortunately, we faced disappointment, exiting the tournament with a 4-0 aggregate loss to Baník Ostrava. Undeterred, we transitioned to the Conference League, reaching the group stage and finishing 10th overall. Subsequently, we qualified for the knockout stages, where we overcame Rakow but were defeated by Twente in the Round of 16. Following Efthymis Christou's triumph three years ago, Panagiotis Kangelidis emerged as the latest recipient of the European Golden Boy award. Additionally, he earned the distinction of being ranked the second most promising wonderkid in football by NXGN. Dimitris Chatzigiannis was honored as the Talent of the Year in the Super League, while Apostolos Karounis secured third place. Vasilis Kyrialanis, our goalkeeper, clinched the runner-up position in the GK of the Year award, mirroring my own second-place finish in the Manager of the Year category. Furthermore, three of our players—Andreas Niniadis, Nikos Siaperas, and Kostas Magafinis—earned spots in the league's Best XI, with Niniadis also being named the league's top Greek player. Magafinis emerged as our top goalscorer with 17 goals, while Gersi Kuqi proved to be our most consistent performer, boasting an average of 7.13 points per game. Looking ahead, the board announced plans for the expansion of our stadium, with an investment of approximately 16.5 million euros aimed at increasing its capacity to around 30,000 spectators. Additionally, in response to a recent downgrade, our youth facilities are set to undergo significant improvements, supported by an investment of around 1.2 million euros. Youth intake: our youth intake showcased several promising players, such as Stefanos Torosidis 40a and Christos Vertopoulos 40b, and a few emerging from our partnerships abroad. Notably, our U19s secured their seventh consecutive league title in a commanding fashion. Team history: Manager history:
  8. Kavala Football Club / Αθλητικός Όμιλος Καβάλα Season 15 - 2038/39 Schedule / Squad / Transfers / Finances / Manager Season Summary: Another memorable year for Kavala! We smashed our record in the league, securing a second-place finish in the regular phase, trailing the leader and reigning champions, PAOK, by just 5 points. Our team embarked on an impressive streak of 15 unbeaten games, clinching notable victories against Olympiacos and PAOK. However, our triumphs were marred by a disappointing end of season, as we stumbled in the crucial matches, losing all four of the last games. This not only dashed our hopes of claiming the title, which had been within reach by just one point, but also shattered our dream of securing a historic Champions League qualification, as we finished 8 points behind the leader and 6 behind AEK in the championship group. In the cup, we triumphed over our affiliated club AS Anagennisi Karditsas from the second tier, only to be defeated by PAOK in the quarter-finals. Olympiacos emerged victorious in the competition. Despite finishing 3rd in the league, we'll have to play Europa League qualifiers next season. Our European campaign, however, was a source of pride. Although we suffered a disappointing elimination in the Europa League playoff against Rakow, whom we had previously defeated two years ago in the UECL qualifiers, we demonstrated resilience in the Conference League. We won 4 out of 6 group stage games, including a remarkable 10-1 victory. Advancing through the elimination rounds, we secured wins against Lens and Valencia before succumbing, once again, to Brighton in the semi-finals, echoing our fate from two years ago. It seems we have a knack for being eliminated by eventual competition winners, as this marks our third participation in European competitions, having been previously ousted by Brighton (UECL winners in 2036 and 2039) and Nice (winners in 2037). Christos Omiridis continued to shine as our top goalscorer, while Gersi Kuqi proved to be our most consistent player, boasting an impressive average rating of 7.27. Alexandros Toungelidis was honored with the Greek Player of the Year award in the Super League, and Vasilis Kyrialanis was recognized as Goalkeeper of the Year. Both players secured a spot in the league's XI of the Year. For the second time, I was honored with the Manager of the Year award, coinciding with an offer to take on the role of Belgium manager. The major transfer of the year involved our prodigy Efthymis Christou. Despite being the winner of the Golden Boy award and runner-up for the Kopa Trophy, Christou opted not to renew his contract, which was set to expire at the end of the season. Faced with the prospect of losing him for free, we reluctantly sold him to Benfica for 5 million euros during the winter transfer window. Remarkably, he leaves behind a legacy of 88 league appearances and 26 goals for Kavala. Investments in our facilities persist, with 5.750.000€ allocated to enhancing the training facilities of our sports complex. Youth intake: This year's youth intake has provided us with several promising talents, including Maros Lesko 39a, Nikos Prountzos 39b, Kostas Ousios 39c, Orfeas Grafas 39d, Ilias Kapnopoulos 39e, Stamatis Bourselis 39f and Efthymis Avgouleas 39g. Furthermore, our partnerships with affiliated clubs have begun to yield results, as evidenced by the emergence of a Slovak and a Polish player in the intake. Thanks to improvements in the youth system, we have once again clinched the U19 title, marking our sixth consecutive victory. Team history: Manager history:
  9. Kavala Football Club / Αθλητικός Όμιλος Καβάλα Season 14 - 2037/38 Schedule / Squad / Transfers / Finances / Manager Season Summary: After finishing 6th last year, this time, with a much more flexible calendar, we were able to achieve our best finish ever. We ended the regular season in 3rd place, just behind PAOK and Olympiacos, and in a good position to secure European spots. We also achieved our best record in the championship phase, winning 3 matches and drawing 2 out of 10, including a last-day victory away at AEK, which propelled us to 4th place and secured qualification to the Europa League for the first time ever. Additionally, we registered the best attack in the league with 88 goals scored. In the Greek Cup, we suffered a disappointing elimination to Larisa from Super League 2. We didn't have any major sales this year, and with the loans we took to build the stadium and the recent expansion, our finances are currently in danger. Moreover, we invested 4.3 million this year in the training facilities. Consequently, we'll likely have to sell next year, and it's probable that we'll have to bid farewell to our most promising star, Efthymis Christou. The 18-year-old was our player with the highest average rating this season (7.31) and was named the most promising wonderkid, according to the NXGN 2038 list, after finishing 3rd twice and winning the Golden Boy award last year. The left-back also received the Talent of the Year award for the best youth player in the league, followed by Alexandros Donis in second place. Additionally, Christou won the Greek Player of the Year award. This year, we witnessed some changes in the team; Ilias Manafis, who became Kavala's top goalscorer last season, lost his place in the starting eleven, making way for Christos Omiridis, who was our top goalscorer this year with 19 goals, 17 of which were in the league, earning him the Top Goalscorer award in the Super League. Both Omiridis and Christou were part of the Best XI in Greece. For the fourth time, I secured the second place in the Manager of the Year award... With this record-breaking season, our reputation has improved, and we are now the 5th best team in Greece, only behind the 'Big-4', PAOK, Olympiacos, AEK, and Panathinaikos. Youth intake: Despite the financial challenges, our continued investment in facilities has yielded promising results in our youth intake. We have produced several players with potential, such as Periklis Lefis 38a, Leonidas Mirkou 38b, Ioannis Karypidis 38c, Kostas Stergianos 38d and Avraam Kouroupis 38e, and our U19 team clinched their 5th consecutive league title, this time with an impressive record of 26 wins out of 26 games. Team history: Manager history:
  10. Kavala Football Club / Αθλητικός Όμιλος Καβάλα Season 13 - 2036/37 Schedule / Squad / Transfers / Finances / Manager Season Summary: once again, as expected, we've qualified for the championship group, this time finishing 6th in the regular season, but 5 points behind Asteras Tripolis. It's a disadvantage that would be hard to turn around, as we usually don't accumulate that many points against the big-4. Indeed, we only won one game in the championship group, garnering just 3 out of 30 possible points in this phase, leaving us 12 points behind the spots that grant qualification to European football. In the cup, we reached the quarter-finals, only to lose to last year's Greek champions and cup winners, PAOK, with an aggregate of 8-1. Our poor performance in the league, however, was due to the overload of European matches. And that's not necessarily a bad thing. We had an impressive run in the Conference League, overcoming three opponents in the playoffs to reach the group stage, where we managed to secure 7 points and qualify for the next stage. We then faced the Dutch team NEC Nijmegen, who had defeated us in the group stage previously. This time, we were able to win at home and draw away, qualifying for the next round, where we faced last year's finalists, Vitória de Guimarães. We bravely won both games, in Greece and in Portugal, facing Rosenborg in the quarter-finals, again with two wins. It was an amazing run that came to an end in the semi-finals, where we lost to Nice with an aggregate of 9-5. Nice eventually ended up winning the competition, defeating Roma 2-1 in the final. So, if it's any consolation, for the second consecutive year, we got eliminated by the champions of the competition. With 13 goals, Ilias Manafis was the top goalscorer of the competition and was part of the Best XI. Ilias Manafis 27e, who this year became Kavala's all-time leading goalscorer, now has 85 goals to his name. He was our most prolific in front of goal this year, and Alexandros Toungelidis 25b was once again our most consistent player, with an average rating of 7.04. However, our main star is Efthymis Christou 35c. The 17-year-old won the Gold Boy award and was once again part of the NXGN list of best wonderkids. It'll be hard to convince him to stay with us, as he has already expressed a desire to move to a bigger club. Financially, things are looking great, due to the sales of two of our best players that we made at the start of the season (Kobosis and Danidis), and with that we were able to expand the stadium built a few years ago to a capacity of around 20k seats and improve our youth recruitment and training facilities, twice. However, without the prize money from European competitions next season and the significant drop in gate receipts, we could be facing hard times in the future, especially since we still have to pay off our bank loans taken to build the stadium and now for the expansion: 300k + 100k a month. Youth intake: a very promising intake, with a few players showing huge potential, as Makis Topouzis 37a, Antonis Varlamis 37b, Igli Torra 37c, Tryfonas Synodinos 37d, Rafail Mantalos 37e, Dimitris Festeridis 37f and Makis Tyflidis 37g. This shows that our investment in the infrastructure is paying off. And once again, for the fourth year in a row, our U19 team became Greek champions. Team history: Manager history:
  11. Kavala Football Club / Αθλητικός Όμιλος Καβάλα Season 12 - 2035/36 Schedule / Squad / Transfers / Finances / Manager Season Summary: The 35/36 season marked a historic moment for Kavala as we made our debut in European competitions. We entered the 3rd qualifying round of the Conference League, facing the Azeri team Zira. In our first European match, we won 1-0 and secured another victory with a 2-1 score in Azerbaijan. In the playoff before the group stage, we faced Brighton, the 2032/33 competition winners. Despite losing 1-0 in Greece and 3-1 in England, our inexperienced team put up a decent display. Brighton eventually won the competition, defeating the Portuguese side Vitória de Guimarães 2-1. In the league, we qualified for the championship group for the third consecutive year, finishing behind the big-4 and maintaining a 4-point lead over Asteras Tripolis. Similar to the previous year, we struggled against the Greek giants in the championship group but managed to win two out of the 10 matches, securing another European qualification for Kavala. Regular phase / Championship group In the Greek Cup, we came close to qualifying for our second-ever final, narrowly losing to Iraklis in the semi-finals on penalties after conceding in the 124th minute. Despite a good finish in the league, we didn't receive any individual awards. I was the second-best manager of the year in the league. Two of our players, Angelos Kobosis (33a) and Christou (25c), were listed among the most promising wonderkids, with Kobosis ranking second and Christou third in the KXGN 2036 list. Once again, Manafis emerged as our top goalscorer with 13 goals, and Kuqi had the highest average rating of 7.20 points. Our long-time captain, Thanasis Ioannidis, retired at 33 after 349 matches and 65 goals with Kavala's shirt. In terms of transfers, we sold our center-back Karypidis (29c) to Iraklis for 3.9 million euros and invested 2.2 million euros to upgrade the training facilities. Youth intake: Although this year's intake was relatively weak with a few players showing potential, none are expected to make it into the first team next year. However, our youth team continues to perform well, winning the league for the third consecutive year in the U19 category. Dimitris Gasidis 36a, Panagiotis Kangelidis 36b, Giannis Karvounidis 36c, Nikos Siaperas 36d, Dimitris Chatzigiannis 36e, Kostas Detsis 36f, Phillip Edwards 36g and Nikos Bournaveas 36h are our most interesting players comming from the academy this year. 12. Kavala Football Club / Αθλητικός Όμιλος Καβάλα Season 11 - 2034/35 Schedule / Squad / Transfers / Finances / Manager Season Summary: history has been made! Kavala qualified for Europe for the first time ever! We kicked off the season on a high note, only losing five games in the regular phase, finishing 5th and securing a 7-point lead over Volos. In the championship group, we managed to win three out of ten games. However, Volos performed even worse, earning only two points in this phase. This meant we finished 5th with a comfortable 15-point lead over Volos, securing our spot in the UEFA Conference League. Next season, we'll be the only Greek team in the Conference League. Robbie Keane's PAOK won the Europa League, granting three Champions League spots to Greek teams next season—PAOK, Olympiacos, and AEK. Panathinaikos will be competing in the Europa League. In the Greek Cup, we suffered a disappointing defeat to Asteras Tripolis with an aggregate score of 10-2. I had already anticipated this outcome as we played with many U19 players and rotated the squad. Alongside our historic European qualification, another record was set during the last winter transfer window. We sold Thanasis Gogolos to the Saudi team Al-Hazem for 10 million euros. Given the challenging task of keeping him and our financial situation, it was a reasonable deal. Gogolos made a significant impact, playing 73 games and scoring 31 goals for Kavala in two and a half seasons. His departure left a mark on the club, but with the profit, we invested 2.3 million in the youth facilities, 875k in the training facilities, and increased our junior coaching budget to an exceptional level. Despite leaving midway through the season, Gogolos was our second-highest scorer, only surpassed by Ilias Manafis, who scored 23 goals and secured the second-highest goal scorer title in the Greek league. Alexandros Toungelidis was our most consistent player, participating in 31 matches with an average rating of 7.18 points per game. He also clinched the 3rd place in the Greek Player of the Year award. To cap off the season, I was honored with the Manager of the Year award in the Greek Super League. This summer, after a historic season for Kavala, four of our players were called up by the U21 team of Greece to participate in the Euros: Karypidis, Pindonis, Danidis, and Christou. The Greek national team dominated the group stage matches, defeating Italy and the Netherlands on their way to the final, only to lose 5-0 against Turkey. Our center back Karypidis even earned a spot in the Best XI of the tournament. Youth intake: we welcomed a few promising players from this year's intake, including Thanasis Katsafaros, Vyacheslav Osipov, Efthymis Christou, Geoffrey Gibert, and Stamatis Dedes. Our academy once again proved that the investment was worth it, winning the U19 league for the second consecutive year. Team history: Manager history:
  13. Kavala Football Club / Αθλητικός Όμιλος Καβάλα Season 10 - 2033/34 Schedule / Squad / Transfers / Finances / Manager Season Summary: this season marked our best performance in the league so far. We secured qualification to the championship group for the first time, although we acknowledge that there is still a considerable gap between us and the teams we competed against. Out of the 10 games, we managed to win only two and draw one, ultimately finishing 6th and falling short of European qualification by 9 points. League table / Championship group In the cup, we experienced another defeat in the 5th round, this time to Ikralis from the second division, marking our second consecutive year of disappointment. On the transfer front, this season saw no significant sales of players. Our most substantial profit came from the loan of our center-back, Karypidis, to Wester Sidney Wanderers, who paid 1 million for a six-month loan. For the first time in our history, a Kavala player, Thanasis Gogolos, was featured in the NXGN 50 best wonderkids, securing the 20th position. Interestingly, I had tagged him with "m" in 2031, signifying him as our 14th player with the highest potential from that intake - a decision that proved to be a misjudgment by our head of the youth department. Gogolos was not only elected the best Greek player in the league but also earned a spot in the best XI and won the award for the best youth player in the Super League, with Kuqi in 3rd place. He emerged as our top goalscorer with 16 goals and boasted the best average rating in our team. Retaining him for the next season will be a challenge. Additionally, I secured the 2nd place in the Manager of the Year award. Youth intake: this was probably on of the poorest intakes we had in the last years. Just a couple of exciting players: Antonis Papadopoulos and Apostolos Karounis. Our youth team however, is showing some promise, as the U19's won the Super League for the first time ever. 14. Kavala Football Club / Αθλητικός Όμιλος Καβάλα Season 9 - 2032/33 Schedule / Squad / Transfers / Finances / Manager Season Summary: The summer of 3032 had the Olympics being held in Australia. Two Kavala players represented Greece in the competition, and the Hellenic team came home with a silver medal, only losing to Italy in the final. Stefanos Karypidis, 29c, was even named for the Dream Team of the tournament. We sold Christos Titis 30g, to AEK for 1.5 million, enabling us to upgrade our youth facilities and increase our junior coaching budget. This year was a little bit disappointing, marking the first time playing in our new stadium. I was hoping we could fight for our first-ever European qualification; however, that wasn't even considered. We won only one of the first 10 games, and even with interesting results such as a 1-1 draw at home and a 2-1 win in Athens against the 55-time champions Olympiacos, it was not enough to qualify for the championship group. We ended up in 3rd place in the relegation phase, 19 points away from going down. (Regular phase / Relegation phase) In the cup, a premature exit against Iraklis from the Super League 2. Vasilis Kyrualanis was once again our player with the highest average rating, keeping 13 clean sheets in the league and being named the GK of the year for the third time. Also, for the third time, he was part of the best XI in the league. Dimitris Manafis, 25a, was 3rd in the Talent of the Year award in the Super League. Thanasis Ioannidis and Thanasis Gogolos 31m, both with 6 goals were out top-goalscorers. One former Kavala player was part of the NXGN reveal: Grigoris Kabiotis, 29a, who left last year for 3.5 million to join Inter and was ranked 42nd. I received offers from Wales and Poland to become their NT manager, both of which were, of course, rejected. Our finances are still in the red. We were 3 million down, but with an injection of 1.4 million from the board and the money from TV and sponsors at the end of the season, we're now only 1.3 million in the red. The 300k/month to pay for the loan of the stadium is killing us. After PAOK's win in the Conference League last year, this time it was Atromitos shining, reaching the final of the competition, only to lose to Brighton. Greece was the 6th country with the highest coefficient this season and is now 9th overall. Youth intake: Some interesting prospects this year, with a few capable of being in the first team in a couple of years such as Thodoros Petsianis, Kostas Kostenoglou, Dimitri Kasdovasilis and Angelos Kobosis. 15. Hi there. My board decided to build a new stadium a few years ago, and that cost $26 million (we're paying $300k/month). We're in debt, and I had to sell a few players—two for around $1.5 million each and another for $3 million. Sometimes the board injects a little, but it's not enough. I managed to get a couple of million after selling and asked for an improvement in youth training, an investment of $1 million. The current expenses and the debt to pay for the stadium aren't near the value we receive in sponsorship and TV, so the only way to keep things financially stable is by getting a couple of good players in the intake and selling them for significant amounts.
