  1. Players set to leave are: Azpilicueta (Too old and doesn’t fit my tactical style) Savic (Too old) Paulista (Too old) Hermoso (Tried to keep but wanted £150k) Reinildo (30+ and not of required quality, & will bring in a modest fee) Witsel (Too old) Koke (No interest in renewing contract) Vitolo (Too old) Morata (No interest in renewing) There are several other fringe players & returning loanees that may also depart. No-one is really off the table, however I would like to keep Oblak, Vermeeren, & Barrios.
  2. Have started up a save with Atletico Madrid, using the new database as well as some editor files to bring in this seasons results so far & to bring me right up to date. Managed to finish S1… went out to Man Utd in the UCL. However, I did finish 2nd, a few points ahead of Barcelona, in La Liga. As I started after the transfer window had closed I’ve been using the current squad. The only changes I’ve made so far is to the staff as all areas needed a drastic overhaul. Now looking at recruitment for S2, lots of players out of contract with no interest in renewing but there’s not a great deal in the pot for new signings.
  3. How are people finding the Saudi impact? Got to my 2nd season & someone has come in for Odegaard. I have no desire to lose him, no matter how much anyone offers as money is not an issue. The problem is he’s only happy to stay if I offer him £900,000 a week. Sadly, while not completely unrealistic for Saudi teams to be interested in my players (De Bruyne has left City for £68m) it does somehow spoil the game a bit for me.
  4. If you declare your interest to a players’ agent, what impact does that have? I know you get an idea of their demands, which is great. However, is it likely those demands will change depending on the level of interest you express? Is it better to be extremely interested, or just somewhat? Does it depend on the player, the agent, and/or if anyone else is interested too? Sorry if this has been asked before, I couldn’t find it anywhere.
  5. Will there be an option to disable the January window? Great having realistic transfers, but a bit pointless if Man City come along on the 1st Jan & buy 3 world class players.
  6. Anyone started a game with Inter? Happy with my 433 tactic, seems solid enough so far and scoring hasn't been an issue with goals from all around the pitch. Made it to Christmas in good form, well ahead in the league, with only 1 loss and 1 draw, & a large goal difference. Have also qualified for the next round of the Champions League. Wanted to build a team based around the core of the team in Martinez, Barella, & Bastoni. Have found Dimarco, Thuram, Pavard, & Dumfries to form part of a good 1st eleven. The problem I’m now seeing is that there isn’t a great deal of depth. To compound that, I’ve no transfer budget. Had to give out a couple of new contracts so I have no room to manoeuvre with wages either. Potential outgoings in January are Hakan (wanted by PSG), who I don’t want to sell but is aging & gives me a chance of recouping a large fee, & Darmian (Saudi clubs have taken an interest). Hoping to offload a large amount of reserve & youth team players too as we have far too many, & there isn’t much quality there. Have several loans becoming permanent in the summer, none of which I particularly want, & plenty of older squad members out of contract at the end of the season who I think I will let go.
  7. Now into February and the window has slammed shut! Donny did eventually leave on loan for a fraction of his wages but hopefully he’ll make a permanent move to Anderlecht for £20m. Wasn’t sure how to progress once the Diomande deal was done, had plenty of money left in the budget but didn’t want to make wholesale changes & risk upsetting the balance of the team. Was light at RB with Dalot gone & found Sildillia was transfer listed for £9m so that seemed like a bit of a no brainer. With plenty of cash still in the bank I looked around for several other potential signings & defensive midfield stood out as a particular weakness so I decided to go big & bring in Tchouameni. Haven’t had any bids for Casemiro as yet but with his age & wages against him I’d be happy to let him go in the summer if there was a decent enough offer. As far as competition progress goes we’re still holding our own in the league, jostling no for top spot with Man City, with Arsenal & Liverpool a couple of wins behind. Sadly we were beaten by Wolves in the FA Cup, a full strength team was uncharacteristically poor & we lost 3-2. Have a big Champions League tie against PSG to come so hopefully we’ll buck our ideas up for that one!
  8. Now into the 2nd week of January & the window is open! Varane has already gone, Al Hilal were determined to snatch him away & he was happy to leave so I managed to negotiate a fee of around £125m including add-ons. Also, Madrid took Dalot off my hands for £28m, & Diallo has gone to Wolves for would could turn out to be £26m + 40% of profit on any future sale. Malacia was listed for loan as he needed some game time, PSG came in with a great offer that not covered his wages but will give us a monthly income & around £21m in fees should transfer become permanent. Still struggling to find a permanent home for Donny & a temporary one for Hannibal but plenty of time left. In terms of incomings, went to go for Barco but he wanted to be an important player on a huge wage so I decided against it. Will stick with Regullion until the summer & then reassess things at left back. Was looking at Hincapie to add cover at left centre back but Leverkusen were asking for far too much to make that deal possible. Still need to replace Varane so have put a bid in for Diomande, will cost around £60m but will also mean I’ve got added options at right back too. Further forward Mainoo is doing well in midfield when required & Eriksen has started to become an important rotation option so I think I’ll wait to make changes unless there are any outgoings or injuries. Up front, I’ve decided that Anthony is too hit & miss, I’ll look to sell him in the summer as Sancho & Pellestri are doing well for me on the right. If I wasn’t using Rashford as cover for Martial up front due to Hojlund’s absence then there’d probably be movement sooner. Speaking of Martial, he’s managed to stay fit & has been doing really well since he came into the team so, currently, he’s staying. Away from sales & recruitment, progress has been made. Now top of the league, only just, but City & ourselves have pulled away a bit from Liverpool in 3rd. Managed to fly past West Ham in the FA Cup 3rd round with a 5-0 win so now have an away tie with Wolves up next. Have taken a bit more time to look at the staff situation. Brought in plenty of new additions in the medical & scouting departments, however there’s still a fair amount of work to do with the coaches & the reserve/youth team to get them to where I think they need to be. Have also requested improvements to the training ground as well as the youth recruitment.
  9. Made it to Christmas, there’s just under 2 weeks to go until the transfer window opens. Haven’t settled on any targets specifically, although it looks like Barco is the way to go for the IWB-S role. Still need an improvement at IFB on the right as have used Lindelof & Wan Bissaka so far & neither have set the world alight. Will have to wait & see what the budget situation is before any major incomings. Casemiro was unhappy & wanted an improved contract, that was refused, but he’s settled down now so hopefully I can keep hold of him this January. Dalot is looking for a way out as he’s not getting games, so I’ll be looking at offloading him as well as Van De Beek. Have extended Martial’s contract, initially to try & get some value out of any sale but he’s done well when needed as cover up front. Hojlund is out for the season. In terms of progress, we’re still hanging in around the top 3, which is positive after a really tough November that saw me play Liverpool, Man City, Tottenham, & Chelsea back to back in the league. In the CL we’ve managed to qualify for the next round, mainly thanks to a last minute winner from Maguire against Lazio. Our reward is a next round tie against PSG. Went out of the League Cup, somewhat frustrating but may well have worked out for the best. Have a FA Cup 3rd round game at home against West Ham coming up so fingers crossed we can make good headway into that.
  10. I play the same 433 but some of the roles I use are slightly different. I have Casemiro as a DM, either D or S depending on the opposition. In addition to that I have Wan Bissaka as an IFB-D at RB. If that’s a bit too conservative for you it might be worth putting him as an IWB-D rather than S. I have Rashford or Garnacho as a W-A at LW, just have never really got on with IF-A. As for up front, I’m using Rashford or Hojlund as an AF-A.
  11. Just got into 1st week of October in S1 today & it’s going fairly well in the main. Currently 3rd in the league, 4 points behind Liverpool. Have only lost 2 games so far, both after going down to 10 men, & the team are scoring plenty of goals (2nd for GS & GD behind Man City). Started with ‘real world’ database & the transfer window shut so have had to make do with the current squad. Playing a positive, modern 433, with roles and duties as follows:- Onana - SK/S Wan Bissaka - IFB/D Varane - CD/D Martinez - BPD/D Shaw - IWB/D or S Casemiro - DM/D or S Bruno - MEZ/A or S Mount - B2B/S Antony - W/S (Cut inside with ball) Sancho - W/A (Cut inside with ball) Rashford - AF/A Mount got injured early on so McTominay has filled in for him & done a good job, scoring several goals. Anthony has also been in & out of the team, & in that instance I swapped Sancho over to the right & took off the PI then had Garnacho on the left. Not overly happy with the IFB slot so will be looking to reinforce that position relatively soon… there seems to be plenty of options. Would like to bring in another IWB for the left but naturally there doesn’t seem as much choice. Any recommendations? Haven’t managed to get much out of Hojlund so far. What role is everyone using him as? Bruno isn’t setting the world alight either, was hoping he’d score more goals but so far he’s just doing ok.
  12. Glad to help, but all the recommendations are based on FM23 as haven’t had a chance to get stuck into the new game yet. Hopefully they’ll all still be decent & not too expensive. As for a striker, it depends on the profile you’re looking for but Marcos Leonardo from Santos was pretty strong, as was Kalimuendo. If you wanted someone with a bit more experience then Gouiri was always on my shortlist but wanted much higher wages than I was prepared to offer.
  13. A maybe less obvious choice than some, & not Italian, but Joe Scally did a great job for me at RB or RWB on my Hertha BSC FM23 save. Likewise, Caleb Okoli, who does have the advantage of being Italian. Other options would be Diego Coppola, Giorgio Scalvini, Wisdom Amey, or Matteo Lovato. Casadei, Fabbian, Ricci, Rovella, Faticanti, or Vignato may be options in midfield, whilst Carnesecchi, Caprile, or Turati could do a job in goal.
  14. Do any of these big fees have any impact on the club debt? Would be nice if some of that could be paid off to make more room for spending on the stadium or training/youth facilities.
