  1. Dugout dreams is our hand on coverage of former Welsh international defender JJ Button as he forays into the world of football management. The 28 year old had his career cut short through injuries but he managed to represent his country 35 times before his retirement scoring 1 goal in the process. JJ was known as a no-nonsense centre back during his playing career and it seems like this will feed into his tactical philosophy. Defence wins championships JJ subscribed to this philosophy as a player and takes this with him into his management career. He talks often of the great Brendan Rodgers Liverpool team that came up just short of their first premier league title, a team built on the attacking potential of their famous front of Sturridge, Sterling and of course, Suarez. However their team was often exposed defensively and they ultimately came up short. JJ compares this with the great Chelsea side of 2005, 15 goals conceded all campaign, a triumph of Jose Mourinho’s masterclass defensive style and whilst they came up short in the Champions League, JJ believes that this team was the peak of football. Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard Another cliché that JJ builds his philosophy on but it is something that rings true. A modern footballing side can no longer rely on individual brilliance and flair to win games and titles, the system always comes first and players must work hard to make the system flourish. JJ wants his players to leave the field, win lose or draw, having tried their best and worked their hardest for the club and the thousands of fans who dream of pulling on that shirt. What if Lebron James played football? Lebron James, Brock Lesnar, Cristiano Ronaldo – Modern day athletic savants. Football has always been a game about skill, but JJ is obsessed with knowing what it would be like if Lebron James had grown up playing football his whole life rather than Basketball. You can teach fundamentals but you can’t teach someone to be 6’6, run 100m in under 11 seconds or bench a car but JJ believes a team filled with athletic players will serve his side more than a team full of skilful players. Follow our story as we bring you the story of JJ Button’s managerial career, with exclusive behind the scenes thoughts and a unique insight into the life of a football manager. Notes: This thread will include updates on my journeyman career and updates from elsewhere around the world.
  2. That might be it, I think it must be set as declared at games start because I couldn't ask him to represent Wales at the start and his second nationality doesn't appear in his information screen for me in game.
  3. Lewis Koumas (16 y/o Liverpool U18's player) isn't listed as being eligible for Wales despite his father (Jason Koumas) being Welsh.
